Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

I was going to say it looks better than half the stuff on Greenlight. Same for indie bundle games too.

If this was a white area regarding Steam, why on Earth would they be cracking down like this? The main purpose for one sided trades is for cash transactions, as most people if it's truly one sided just gift stuff (exception obviously being TF2/Dota 2 items, since they can't be gifted).
It's not a white area as far as Valve is concerned. Period.

If anyone needs proof of that there's a thread entitled "Are we allowed to purchase Russian steam games and play them in the U.S.?" to which BurtonJ a Valve employee (not mod, employee) replied simply "no" and then locked the thread. In fact, every time the subject comes up on the official forums the threads get quickly locked.

Now I'm not going to say that people aren't getting away with it or that everyone who does it will get caught but clearly Valve is aware that it's going on and doesn't want people doing it. It's their store and if they catch someone doing it or even suspect they can take whatever action they see fit.

Even if there's a 1% chance of getting caught it's not worth it to me for something that's going to be on sale in a month or two anyway.

I understand about the point about the system (sort of) allowing it but a counter point to that is that the system was meant for gifting to friends and like the penny humble bundle steam keys debacle people are taking advantage of the system and I don't think 'well the system allows us to do it' is a good enough argument for doing that.

Eventually if it gets too out of hand they may restrict the gifting system which would really suck for everyone.

Oh and just for the record the person in that thread I linked explicitly clarified they were asking not asking about key sites but rather about redeeming games purchased on Steam in the Russian region gifted to someone in the US (same holds true for Canada or wherever else).

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=31059610&postcount=15
I would be trading for STEAM copies of games from Russian steampowered.com users, not Keys.

A Valve employee still said no. This isn't just about the key sites, it's about abuse of regional pricing.

In regards to one sided Steam trades.
If I throw a piece of crappy TFT2 gear or some Super MNC combat invite into the trade window when trading with the Russian then it would be legit?

I dunno the whole argument doesn't make sense to me. What if one of my Russian friends just wanted to gift me a game? Would this also be considered a regional abuse. I know and still play games with several Russian and Danish folk from my Warcraft 3 days.

Seems to me whatever they put in the trade window and click accept (as long as it isn't region restricted) should be fair game.

Look if you want to trade with your friends then do it. No one is saying otherwise.

But if you buy something from Vladimir and Vladimir is 'gifting' or 'trading' to several hundred other people in a relatively short time span Valve might take notice. Or not.

The point is you can do 'what if' all day long but the gifting/trading system is there for people exchange with their friends. It's not there for people to sidestep regional pricing. If you were meant to buy a game for that price it would be for sale to you at that price. You may not get caught for doing it but you aren't supposed to do it no matter how much you try to justify it or what examples you use. If you're comfortable with that then fine.

I'm not Santa Claus and I don't know what you are doing when you are sleeping or awake or when you've been bad or good for goodness sake. Do what you think is best for you, just be aware of the risks. If you think they are minimal enough are are morally comfortable with doing a Russian transaction then that is on you.

I don't believe there's ever been a reported case of an account getting banned from Russian keys or gifts. Keys have been revoked though.

Using a VPN can certainly get you banned though.

Is anyone else kind of over hunting for the next deal? I now have so many games. I have everything I want from the pc classics of gaming except the d&d games, many games I'll never play but have because they were cheap, and a category in steam that's almost a full column of renown modern games called Will Play Later that require more comp than I have to give. I really want to take my collection and ride off into the sunset playing at my leisure and not stressing about missing any bundles, midnight mispricings, and random flash sales. Yes, I think that's the good life.

Btw, Farm Frenzy: Pizza Party is really fun. I'm having a Stress Free Strategy Saturday over here.

LOL I saw that pop up on my 'Friends have recently bought' list and was going to comment on it.

It is kind of good, ahem, cheesy fun.

I feel you on the deals sometimes too. I'm so trained to hunt for them but the more I have the more obscure I have to get (7 Sins anyone?). I do find some interesting and weird games that way though.

Sometimes though I almost want to buy things just so I don't have to ever think about them again. Like I bought all the Magicka DLC so that I don't have to go 'Ugh this again? ALRIGHT GOD DAMN IT YOU WORE ME DOWN. I BOUGHT IT! HAPPY!?!?' the next 8 times the sale pops up.

I kind of feel like that with 1C and Strategy First too. Like I wish Amazon would just get their shit together and do their packs so I can just ignore Indie Gala from now on. Of course now they have moved on to Nordic, Topware and Viva Media...

It never ends.

As a CAG'er, it's about the DEAL; NOT missing out on a game (especially if the game's considered a classic); AND gaining a MASSIVE backlog. :p

There's plenty of games I own that I'll probably NEVER-EVER play b/c of their age; I know I won't be able to get into; and/or are outside of my genre (i.e. strategy games are often on this list)...

...but there are those INSTANCES that I won't be kicking myself for missing a deal I should've went in on - especially when games I miss, wind up w/ issues b/c of...
"no longer sold" b/c of licensing issues (see System Shock 2 no longer sold and is owned by EA);
"no longer sold" b/c of music licensing issues (see Hitman: Contracts & GTA: Vice City);
"no longer sold" b/c of distribution issues in different territories (see Sacred 2: Gold not sold in USA);
won't be sold at Retail b/c of its Rating (see Manhunt 2 PC w/ AO Rating - you'd have to look digitally at those places);
etc etc.

Yeah when games are yanked I totally kick myself for not getting them.

I mean I didn't give a shit about Family Feud and then suddenly I hear it's gone from Steam and I'm like 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT!!' :bomb:fuck

It's a sickness. :p
Manhunt 2 was AO on the PC? Why isn't it available?
Most retailers (GameStop, WalMarts, etc) flat-out just won't sell AO-rated games.
You used to be able to get it digitally (from Direct2Drive), though.

EDIT:
GameFly bought D2D out, GameFly does have a policy - they doesn't sell AO games, BTW.
You can't buy Manhunt 2 PC download from GameFly.
Hopefully, you bought it back when D2D was in business...
BTW - I bought Manhunt 2 PC back when D2D was in business; and Manhunt 2 PC does show-up in My Library in the GameFly Client.

EDIT 2:
Gamersgate still sells Manhunt 2 PC (AO Version).

You shut your fool mouth!

Heh, I told myself I was done with sales until at least Christmas at the earliest and more likely Amazon's January coupon sale.

Then I bought that dumb ass 7 Sins game #-o

No regrets!

Weird, I remember seeing Family Feud and Friends as #2 Free Game on the Amazon Appstore today.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll just grab it there
and never play it.

I usually don't pay much mind to the free Android apps I grab on Amazon honestly, though the FAOTD today actually does look good and has a ton of glowing reviews.

Oh well, like Motoki, I'd almost certainly never play it. So I guess he saved me $5.
"It is against the Humble Bungle TOS ."

Alright, but wait a minute. What does HIB's TOS say?

If I already have a game(s) in the bundle do I have the ability to gift the extra copy in the bundle?

Unfortunately, if you already have a game in the bundle you will not be able to gift the extra games to a friend.

Please consider your bundle a "unit", and not to share copies of the games or Steam keys from it.

If you'd like to give a copy of the games away, we have a system in place that allows you to buy a gift key from www.humblebundle.com so your friends can have access to direct downloads as well as any Steam or other keys we have included.
End of story.

Apart from the fact that a FAQ page is not a legally binding document last I checked, that also isn't really talking about the same thing. The question there is if you can gift games that you already have out of the bundle. You can't, since the games are connected to one key, so they're just telling you each bundle is a unit (all games, one key) and to buy your friend a gift copy. They're always going to tell you to pay them more money... lol.

The TOS is what we're talking about here.

EDIT: Thanks for the additional snippet of info though. I'll have to email them and see what they say.

BGCQ's:

Motoki, you should think about coming back full stop. (The gifts are bound to get better come X-Mas)

And for you other CAG's:
Saint's Row: The Third
ACFHW-JXVC7-HPN6N

People complained about the cut down Saints Row 3rd OST in the current Humble Bundle (which is crap). I'd like to point out for those who don't know that the Darksiders OST they give you is the 2 Disc Director's Cut Edition.
Just noticed this on Kickstarter:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects...equel-to-barkley-shut-up-and-jam?ref=category

I mentioned this game ages ago from a random find and apparently that game has a following of some sort as it's exceeding it's pledge goal easily and 26 days to go.

The original game free to play download page:

That game looks funny but not worth the asking price.

I can't believe that sat there for 30 minutes unredeemed. Not any more, I just claimed it.

Thank you very much man.

Yeah, I'm not becoming a contributor myself, I just thought it was an interesting topic to discuss. :)
