Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

I got a few like that due to new content conversion whatever, some of the games required 2GB+ download after telling me "this will only take a few minutes". One time it made me redownload Witcher 2.
I'd like the game, but at more than 50% off. I'm still tempted as it's one of the games that works in the Linux beta and I'd play it when I travel later this month.
I got it for 7 through greenman gaming
Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit is $2.62 on GMG if you use the 30% off coupon GMG30-DEC01-ARFC9.
I probably would've waited to buy it from there if Amazon and Steam didn't have it for $3.74 first. I got promo credit with it from Amazon though, so not really a loss for me.

GMG should've had it for 75% off earlier, rather than the crappy 50% off they had.
They did. The description on the Alpha package that was in the bundle stated it came with access to all later development builds as well as the finished game. I think it was known at the time that the final game would require Steam.
Well Indiefort at that time was taking a no-Steam keys stance so I hadn't thought there would be a Steamworks (eventually) game in there.
Sounds like digging for information. They need to make it abundantly clear that it would. Hell, had the one dev from world of tanks not told us that certain games would come with steam keys for the new indie fort bundles nobody would have known and gamersgate in the past did not include steam keys for games that were on steam but offered drm free builds.
+1

Gamersgate seems to have this real issue with initially not wanting to give any Steam games out and then later when they did kind of sweeping that fact under the rug instead of promoting.

I get why, they are a competitor and all that business, but they are really screwing over the bundle sales by doing that. I've seen a number of other people on various forums saying they passed on their bundles in the past do to no Steam keys. Now that they are doing them in some cases, they need to do a better job of getting the word out.
Good price on Super Meat Boy with the Celebration Sale.
Actually, if I may be so CAGish, the game was $3.74 during the last Steam Holiday Sale. Furthermore, I believe Super Meat Boy was in Humble Indie Bundle IV, as well. Thus, Super Meat Boy has been available for far better prices in the past.
Also ZOMGWTFBBQ TRIPLE TOWN!! It's such a simple silly game but seriously addictive, at least on mobile.

This thread title is getting me down. I think "The Steam Deal thread V6: Winter is Coming" is much more cheery.
Now that you mention it, I agree - "The sale is over, this thread will self-destruct," the title seems to say.

Nevertheless, once the Holiday Sale begins, we'll get a brand new, "more cheery" title.
Well Indiefort at that time was taking a no-Steam keys stance so I hadn't thought there would be a Steamworks (eventually) game in there.
True. I guess I should say it was pretty clear with most of the games in that bundle that there were no Steam or Desura keys. However, it was also clear that AirBuccaneers Alpha would also include the final release and many articles about that game said it was planned to go final exclusively on Steam if possible.

Well, I wasn't around for the first two Indiefort bundles. I agree that Indiefort Championship was decidedly non-Steam (and non-Desura.) AirBuccaneers was the clear exception.

Hmm, I just noticed that Dirt 1 was pulled from the steam store. New to me, GRID 2 is set for release next year, yay!

Unfortunately that will mean the mob of seasonal-sales-only CAGs will flood the thread asking questions that were answered for the 20th time a few posts up.

Is there a way to get Steam to auromatically install all Library games instead of clicking through them one by one and having to wait for Steam to freeze up for 5 seconds each time?

Also, we really should start a new thread before the Winter Sale.
In case any of your haven't seen this yet, Portal on a TI-83/84. When did TI calcs get sound? HPs have had sound since the '80s at least.

Ti's never had sound or at least any model from the 83-89. It amazes me that people still make games for the 83 when the 89 is vastly superior and is used in every calc class.

To get back on track though. Anyone know when the new Skyrim DLC drops?

Is the SR3 season pass worth it?
Should I buy game x?
Will game x go on sale?
Will game x be cheaper?
Is this the cheapest game x has been?
Bit on game x, I've been waiting for a sale and 33% off is pretty good...*thread rage* You are doing it wrong!
Can I get one of those Skyrim keys?

That's not what I asked. I wanted to know if it requires steam.

If I buy this bundle, will I be able to give away the games I already have (on Xbox)?
Chumps! It's much cheaper at fraudulentkeys.ru

I do hope they stick with the 12 hour flash sales. Even better would be 24 hour flash sales

Shoite, no wonder you enjoyed Saints Row: The Third so much.

Speaking of the same shit over and over and over again are the kids still going on about Arma II/DayZ these days or have they moved on to something else?

Gone for a couple of months or so and I feel old and out of the loop with what the kids are playing these days.

Ironically, we're playing a lot of THQ titles these days.

The DayZ hype has died down a little. Plus a lot of people are now waiting for the standalone. I've been playing a little WarZ personally. Similar but not the same.
Well, Bioshock 2 came in between, and that was a step down from the first (still good, but more of a rehash), so Infinite doesn't have to worry about being the bastard stepchild, I guess.
Bioshock 2 was NOT developed by Irrational Boston.
(The then brand new) 2K Marin made it, so that was already expected to NOT be as AMAZING as Irrational Boston's awesome Bioshock 1.

EDIT:
We expect a lot out of Irrational Boston, given their history (System Shock 2, Bioshock 1 & Freedom Force series) and Ken Levine's additional history (Looking Glass).
Today's Daily Deal is The Book of Unwritten Tales for $9.99 (50% off).

Pretty sure it has been cheaper elsewhere. GamersGate and GOG had it for cheaper, I THINK.
For anyone who grabbed AirBuccaneers in the IndieFortChampionship bundle (or otherwise on GamersGate?), a Steam key should be available in your GamersGate account. I had one waiting, anyway.
Sweet, I remember hearing that would happen. Glad it finally did.

TI-89s were not allowed in any of my math classes, from calculus to DiffEq. I think 2 out of my three physics classes allowed them...

For those that asked if the OMD2 DLC is worth it.. I can say that the Are We Yeti DLC is worth buying for the missle launcher alone. That thing is the best weapon in the game, incredibly powerful and has a high chance to stun any enemy with the primary attack. Combined with the mana trinket, you're unstoppable. Might make the game too easy for some, but it's fun to play with. I think my favorite DLC traps are the Web Spinner and Dart Spitter. The new levels from each DLC aren't anything special, but they're a nice addition to the game. I would recommend getting them all, but if you only get one I'd go for Are We Yeti. They're all currently 75% off (including the base/complete game). Just finished playing through the DLC with Seraphym.

I haven't had any math in awhile, but I also remember them being prohibited, as they were a little too powerful. 89s can run derivatives/integrals, right?

Am I the only one who hates how Steam automatically acts like you're going to install a game when you activate a key? I wish you could turn that off, it's annoying.

Yep. And partial fraction expansions. Its symbolic package is pretty darn good. (the reason I got a TI-92, despite being a dyed-in-the-wool HP & RPN calculator fan).

Simple click to cancel on the screen after activating. I'm sure we'd have the reverse complain if it was the other way. I just wish steam adding a throttling option to downloading, since it tends to choke bandwidth like nothing else.

After activating...
When it says it's ready to install and shows the amount of GB it takes up, I just hit cancel.
No fuss, no muss, & no must.

I just wish it was a little simpler instead of saying "INSTALL NOW". Like.. Desura. ;)

Very true though. If it didn't I'd be like "wai duz it not say instal now!??"

It's an extra click, and not one that you can just spam click. For a few games, it's not really an issue, but when you're activating 10+ keys in succession....

It's not that bad and I rather they asked when I activate the key then have to go find it in the library and click install. Easier just to hit cancel even when activating a lot of keys. I'm more annoyed at how Steam shits itself when you activate a key.

Especially when you grabbed a key off some post and are all like 'Crap is this going to work or did someone get to it first?'
