Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
I don't see what's crazy about someone suggesting that a game where you deliberately wreck police cars might not be appropriate for all 10 year olds. Most such games (e.g. Most Wanted) are rated teen exactly as she suggests.
This is stating your own opinion. It is however misinformed. No part of gameplay is around deliberately wrecking police cards. I suggest trying to gain basic knowledge of something before attacking it.

Children will play roughly with toy cars, stuffed animals, & legos. Perhaps those should be taken away.
The fact that you can't even imagine anyone having an objection suggests that you don't have a normal perspective on violence and/or the police.
This is TROLLING. While your account dates back to 2005 you have only 267 posts (barely out of CAG-in-Training) and your last two posts were one month and three months ago.

Have you ever had someone break into your home and commit violence against you? I have.
Have you ever been wronged by police lying to cover up for their buddies? I have.
Have you ever had to get a restraining order? I have.
I think the issue would be more with being seemingly oblivious to games, yet claiming to be a gamer. Also, to relying on some arbitrary rating for your parenting choices.

I think any gamer who is even somewhat familiar with games in general knows that 95% of your racing games out there will have some sort of crash component. A lot of them will have a cop component.

You'd think if they had the time to write a review, they'd also take 5 minutes prior to purchase to research the game.

Or at the very least look at it. The front cover of Carbon has two cars crashing into each other. The back specifically mentions cop cars and heat.
I've played a lot of the NFS games and tbh I had no idea that Carbon had cops. NFS has always been schizophrenic with half the games focusing on pure racing and the the other half on cop chases. Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted are the ones I associate with having cops.

Curses suck. I understand they can stack. The weird guy at the base of the bell tower (just after twin gargs) sells a cure for 4k souls.
Rumor is that Gamely will have on sale Mon & Tues steam keys for
XCOM - $25 ($20)
Walking Dead - $12.50 ($10)

20% off code 1GFT1112 may still be active then and would drop to XCOM - $20 & WD - $10

Not live yet. Mon & Tues
Nice price on those and I've been waiting for them. I can't help but wonder if they'll hit that price or better on Steam in a couple weeks... guess I can wait a while longer.

Down in the sewers I got cursed 4 times in a row once. (Got kinda sloppy with my gameplay.) Let me tell you, that SUCKS! And previously I thought the worst thing in the game up to that point was losing all my souls at the end of a level. Nope, curse sucks more.

I just broke the curse, a few minutes ago! :D

Was a pain trying to make 6,000 souls and make my way back to Undead Merchant (Tunnel b/t Undead Burg and Depths) to buy that Purging Stone, but I did it. :D

You Dark Souls people are all fucking insane.
P.S. Is Space Channel 5 suffering from the same treatment?
I can report that it's between Sonic Adventure DX and Jet Set Radio, in terms of quality. Like Sonic Adventure DX, Space Channel 5 Part 2 only has keyboard prompts (My 360 gamepad seems to be mapped intuitively, however.) and selecting Full Screen in the Config tool results in a window. (Changing the FULL_SCREEN setting in the "config.ini" file makes no difference.) However, like Jet Set Radio, Widescreen is supported.

Overall, if it's the only way one can play Space Channel 5 Part 2, then it could be worse.

Yep, sounds VERY familiar. Can't believe I'm actually looking forward to starting this all over again on PC. After going through Blighttown on PS3, I said to myself "Never again am I going down hear!".

I think if you take the master key you actually CAN skip blight town.
I think if you take the master key you actually CAN skip blight town.
Lurker here.

You can skip Upper Blighttown without the Masterkey.

Just go through Darkroot Basin --> Valley of Drakes --> into the back side of Blighttown

Also, played Dark Souls for 100's of hours on PS3...just started the PC version.

My steam id is "crzytimes"...I'm SL 25 on my first character now...stuck at the Capra Demon...forgot how bad he sucks on a fresh account.
I think if you take the master key you actually CAN skip blight town.
You only skip about 2/3 of Blighttown - the horrible, platforming part. But you don't get to skip the swamp. Master key lets you open the gate in the New Londo Ruins that goes to the Valley of the Drakes and then to to top of the other side of Blighttown
Whee! Despite my recent purchases, what I am I play atm? NFS: Underground 2. With widescreen fixes (running at 1920x1200), a new (2011) texture pack, and ENB, *sweet*. It's a lovely step up from the NFS:U2 I played the fuck outta on PS2.
I unfortunately never played the NFS:UG games.
I wish EA would re-release NFS: Underground 1 + 2 onto Origin and other digital stores.

The oldest I've seen on digital download is ProStreet (the one after Carbon). I *finally* picked up ProStreet on Origin for $4 a few months back. Hilariously the widescreen mod requires the cracked version of the 1.2 patch of NFS:U2. You can pickup the older PC releases for cheap on fleabay. It's been a very long time since I played Underground 1, but I feel that Underground 2 is far superior. The vibe (and mods available) seem to agree with that. NFS:U1 wasn't bad, it's just that NFS:U2 defined the open-world racer. The only gripe with NFS:U2 is that you really have to drive across the map to start an event (whereas, NFS:MW, Burnout:paradise, and more recent titles allow you to drive or menu to an event). Okay okay, the minor side-bit times on certain streets in Burnout Paradise did require you to drive to the start (yes, I did play Burnout Paradise to death).

Huh, looks like Dead Pixels is on steam now. I wonder if those of us who bought the IndieRoyale Graduation bundle will get steam keys.

Thanks for the insight on NFS: Underground series.

The first PC version of a NFS game that I bought actually was NFS: Most Wanted (2005) - and I loved the hell out of that game. I also loved Carbon, I should note.

I have ProStreet, but never installed it, for some reason.

BTW - I thought Burnout Paradise was awesome and an absolute blast to play. :D

I think with how many developers have been giving out Steam keys once they hit Steam it must be a policy on Valve's end.

Texture Mod and ENB
http://www.nfscars.net/forum/showthread.php?t=32188

Note that some versions sold on Amazon are the UK release that swap out the Honda Civic (meh) and Acura RSX (I liked this car IRL) for a Vauxhall (Opel) Corsa and Pugeot 106.

And set your speed2.exe to run in compatability as XP SP2, and run as Admin. Also to use the texture mod you have to run the texmod.exe every time and use it to launch the game. The ENB files should be copied to the game folder.

There are also NFS:MW(2005) texture and ENB mods on the same site. I have note tried them yet.

Make sure you increase the DoF resolution in the resfix patch, at least once. It makes a huge difference to the appearance of the game world (for the better!). Just increasing the resolution makes a smaller impact.

Ahhhh. My apologies. And here I thought I was being Mr. Helpful. Didn't see that Solid Snake Eyes had already posted it.

Hmm, winter sale started the 19th last year. Could be only 1.5 weeks away. I want Far Cry 3 now, but I feel like I have to wait at this point. 19th was a monday, closest monday to the 19th this year is the 17th. Hmm. Waiting til the next monday, the 24th would be a little late.

It starts the 20th -- the Secret of the Magic Crystals developer let it out of the bag along with the start date of the Autumn sale (so pretty much confirmed he was right).

Is anyone else playing Don't Starve? I dropped a few hours into it tonight and it's pretty interesting, right up until a tree sprouts legs and starts lumbering toward you with a menacing scowl while you panic trying to remember which button is your spear.

Less than 2 weeks... I can deal with it.

Really enjoy it. Nice to see Klei branching out into something a bit different than side scrolling beat-em-ups. Also a fairly different sort of game to most of the indie stuff out there. I stopped playing after about eight or so hours as I had built pretty much everything. Figure I'd just wait until full release to dive back into it.

Yup, i posted that over at the new Steam Discussion Board :D. By the way, Drunken Fool is a Valve Employee, they get all games available on Steam on their Steam Master account. So i wonder how long it will be until it's being sold in the store.
I just looked over his account again and he has Freespace on it... WUT.
Wonder if that too will be a GOG adapted versions. Maybe the dam has broken and more and more publishers are taking their GOG game and spreading it around to other retailers.
Make sure you increase the DoF resolution in the resfix patch, at least once. It makes a huge difference to the appearance of the game world (for the better!). Just increasing the resolution makes a smaller impact.
I used a patch I saw on reddit. DSFix? Can't remember...i'll double check. Thanks :)

He also has Coconut Queen and I didn't even gift it to him!

That is quite the collection. My puny 750 entries on my game list is humbled by his 2,034.

I am also sad that he has Fetch it Again which apparently has since been removed.

I had been blissfully ignorant of this game and now I want something I can't have. :baby:

*Edit again: Whoah, The Movies was on Steam? When did that happen.

I've got to stop looking at his account. It's depressing me.

Haha ya it sucks seeing a game that was available on Steam but is not any longer. But yeah any Valve Employee gets all games ever released on Steam at any point, even if they were removed.
