Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
No. No you don't. If the second one is anything like the first one, then it will be horrible...

Grab your list of steam games, print it out, pull out a pin and stab a random game. PRESTO, it's better than Garshap.

Come to think of it, take the pin and poke it in your eye, still more fun that Garshap....
Awesome. :applause:

Yeah, I know...

Beat The Maw on Xbox this morning. It sort of satiated me. (It's on Steam. I can talk about it!)
Actually.. it's a LOT better with keyboard/mouse lol. But yes, it does work natively with a 360 controller.
Thanks. I'm new to PC gaming, and while I've enjoyed using mouse and keyboard for some games, the transition has been tough for others, particularly third person games. Then again, RE4 and RE5 don't exactly have elegant controls to begin with, so I'll definitely try both ways.
I can maybe see the 50% off for Racoon City because that's a somewhat newer release but 50% for a game released in 2009 is just way, way too chitnzy.

Capcom really is FAIL at this whole Steam sale thing.
They are fail at Steam. I waited for 2 years to buy Dead Rising at less than $15 on Steam.

In June 2010 I bought RE5 for $12.50. I think it's dipped down to the $7.50 range once or twice here and there. But essentially it's taken them them 27 months to move $2.50 on the discount.

I think Konami may have them beat there. Silent Hill: Homecoming is still listed at $40 and the cheapest it's ever been is $10 as far as I know of. During the sale "that we may not still be able to speak of" the best they could do was $20.

I almost grabbed that, supposed to look good in 3D, how was it?
I was going to wait for all this to go on sale but... YOU CAN PLAY AS STAN LEE! http://store.steampowered.com/app/212603/

It's a PC. Rename spiderman.file to spiderman.file.bak and then change stanlee.file to spiderman.file. As long as you don't mind him sounding like a wisecracking young man you're good to go. I'm sure someone will do it.

Ugh. I doubt anyone in this thread was considering it anyway, but please please please do yourselves a favor and stay the hell away from Operation Raccoon City. Don't be tempted by it's sweet whisperings of 50% off. (And the fact that Capcom has issues going cheaper than that)

I can't even properly express what a mountain of dissapointment that game was (as an RE2 fan), let alone it being a badly designed/produced game. :C
How interesting. I missed that entirely. Haha. I think I have two golden keys right now, but I haven't even found the damn chest in Sanctuary yet. Am I right in thinking there'll be better loot in there when I'm a higher level character? If so, I'll just hold onto my keys for a while longer.
Hold onto them. They are single use. I would probably wait till a high level or a difficulty spike. ...of course I'd have to actually own/play BL2... When's the GOTY coming? ^_~

I picked up The Maw (Stream) or maybe $3 a couple Winter Sales back. I played it most of the way through, 4 hours, and really enjoyed it. I liked the styling and the slower pace was a nice change. Maaaw?

Still no pricing or DLC announcement on Castle Crashers - but who am I kidding? I'll pay whatever they're asking and buy any DLC that comes out for it - one of my favorite games. :D

I was kinda interested in ORC. I'm pre-ordering RE6 Anthology and it's the only RE title not included. Then I saw the $39 price tag for ORC complete, lol. That's just a ridiculous price. Even if it was a good game.
Also, why is there no RE5 Gold for steam? I guess it doesn't matter. I'll get my RE fix from the PS3 and hope I can learn to aim with that silly little joystick.

Am I the only one really disturbed by that? I'm not even a big Spidey purist or even really much of a Spidey fan. Just seeing a recognizable old guy in those positions... that doesn't sit well with me.

No RE5 Gold on PC because the RE5 DLC never came to PC. :C One has to remember that while the MT Framework runs really well on PC (thus making capcom games look absolutely gorgeous compared to their console counterparts), we're very much second class citizens to Capcom. (Lack of RE5 DLC, AE2012 coming out on PC long after the console version, shoddy DMC3 port. Wasn't the RE4 port to PC god awful as well?)

Yeah. The $38 is a bit much for usual CAG taste. Honestly I would happily double dip, except that damn game is an abomination. =\ Bought it on release for 360, and "choked down" the co-op campaign with a buddy who was equally hyped for it prior to launch. There's a whopping 6 hours or so tops of gameplay in the core campaign, and the gameplay is sloppy as all hell. (I would like to have 'words' with whoever decided to design that cover system. Ditching a cover button for context sensitive directional movement makes it nigh unplayable at times) That's before even going into a rather bad story + characters. (I know Capcom isn't known for their writing, but these characters are probably a new record for being walking cliches)

Hrm, this is all sounding familiar. I wonder if I've posted this rant before on CAG, or if that was on another site. . .

As someone who doesn't own a console and has been waiting a year or so for them to release it I'd be all over it... if Torchlight 2 didn't come out last week. Maybe if there's some kind of week one discount/four pack.

Thanks for the free code Mark. I used the last one on the list.

You're all welcome! Enjoy what the games have to offer. I'll pop back before the end of the sale period with a few more codes. Thanks again for the interesting discussion on the games and the bundle. We live and learn!

RE:ORC isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. The problem lies with the fact that everyone wanted/expected a classic Resident Evil game, and it's utterly different. It's closer to Gears of War rather than the slow paced, puzzle-y goodness of your average RE. The customization system is nice; you gain points from going through missions/playing online, and you can buy abilities and new weapons (a lot of weapons) with that. Multiplayer also is pretty fun; good amount of games modes and such, and PVP with a bunch of zombies thrown in the mix is always amusing. The physics of zombie killing are also pretty damn good.

Downsides? The gameplay feels a little less than refined. It's not a mess like people make it out to be, but it's not that impressive either. The campaign is pretty short too, but that seems to be a trend with a lot of shooters lately. The boss battles are said to be a bit lame and buggy, but I never really noticed that (maybe I played it after something was patched). I heard some people complain about how zombies had different levels of HP (not always going down with the same amount of hits), but that's probably the stupidest complaint I've ever heard.

Worth the price it is now though? Nah. If you can wait, give it another two years and pick it up at $10. It's still a bang-up little game (maybe a 6.5-7.5 out of 10, not a 4).

Question: If I already have RE5 on the 360, is there any reason to double dip here? Online play? Better graphics? Anything?

It's $4.99 which is full price, but half what it was priced at from other sources prior to now.
You should also have a Steam key on your download page if you bought it during the McPromo! Just activated mine a few minutes ago.

Have you actually played it? I'm just wondering if it's as bad as it looks. Because it looks like a contender for worst game on steam, right along with Horrid Henry & Bad Rats.

Nope, I haven't played it. I bought it because it was Pay What You Want, and I can't resist Pay What You Want promotions that come with Desura keys. I may end up playing it later, but I doubt it's as bad as Horrid Henry and Bad Rats. The reviews on Desura are pretty high.

Are you serious? It's incredible. I'd have bought it on PC if the Android port hadn't come out as it's pretty perfect as a mobile game. The time between tapping the app and playing is only a few secs and you can play anywhere between 5 secs and 20 minutes.

It's really goofy fun.

How long does it usually take Steam Support to respond to questions? I am currently in limbo with not having my T2 preorder and well I sent a ticket last night around 11:30 EST.

I just got a response last night for a question that I sent in 3 days earlier.

Thanks! I managed to activate one in my first try.

Well I'm truly surprised to hear that. It looked awful to me.

I'm also surprised that it made it on steam given the fact that the dev actually partnered with the Pirate Bay to promote it. Yeah I know that it got a lot of votes on Greenlight, but I would have thought that Steam would have used their discretion to deny the application after the Dev teamed up with one of the biggest pirating outfits on the whole web.

All the keys I've tried come up as "invalid game code."

That means you've made too many activation attempts for keys in general, you're gonna have to wait around 30 minutes to an hour to be able to activate again.

Did you try for any other code giveaways recently today? Steam locks you out pretty quickly now if you put a bunch of used/wrong codes in rapidly. If not then I don't know why it'd do that.

Thanks! I managed to get one on first try and posted my thanks/code to let them know.

Pirate Bay really is nothing to Steam if you think about it. They would be more worried about key resellers than a game pirating site. It would be game developers who would be worried I would think.

There was only 100 of them They're probably all gone already.

I didn't even bother trying because I didn't see Louie's post until several minutes after he posted it. I knew it was already too late.

EDIT: I forgot that was the "you've tried to redeem too many codes recently" message that steam gives you.

It's not in /r/gaming and it hasn't been that long. I wouldn't be surprised if there are still a few left. I got mine on the first try more than 30 minutes after they were posted.

This. I don't think too many people have viewed the thread yet. It's still worth trying.

I managed to redeem the second one I tried, so there seem to be at least a few left. Thanks for the free game!

Nice I grabbed a few copies hoping they would give steam keys for giveaways.

The dev responded to you on reddit and said there should be more soon. Good news for anyone just seeing this now and hopefully Steam will reset your redemption attempts by then.
