Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Have you tried restarting Steam? Probably wont work, but that sometimes fixes problems that steam is having. It's worth a try.

4 times. I think my over-enthusiasm may have cost me a free game here.

Have you checked your library? I got an invalid error when I redeemed my humble bonuses earlier today but they showed there.

My advice when it comes to giveaways like this is to make 2-3 attempts at redeeming keys, and if you fail.. wait until more are posted before trying again. I believe you start getting the "invalid" error once you hit 5 attempts, but I may be wrong. It's usually not worth using up all of your attempts at once.
Have you checked your library? I got an invalid error when I redeemed my humble bonuses earlier today but they showed there.
Nope again, I think I've just got to move on and learn for next time.

Got one on my first try from the image link, so it appears some of them are still active! Keep trying (but remember that more than 5 tries will lock you out for a bit).
I must have been lucky. I got it on the 3rd try about 15 minutes ago.
Wow, lucky me. Just got home and redeemed YIJRJ-YNYTY-RFMDZ from the image code screen. Second one I tried.
Out of curiosity, does anybody know how long you have to wait after the 4th try to avoid getting locked out?
I think it may only be ~5 if you do it rapidly. The other day someone posted a code with a couple of missing characters and I know that I tried way more than 5 times within a few minutes as they continued to give more detailed clues.

Oh man, it's been a tough few days at my job, but I was quite happy to see that, courtesy of the latest Humble Indie Bundle, I now own Wizorb.

My day has been made.

Got one! Awesome. Thanks.

My first few tries I went for the middle of the list, trying to be smart. I think everyone else did the same. One right toward the top worked.

I just came to post that a new list of 200 is up, but it looks like you already figured that out.

Not I. I got one from the second image of 100 posted.

Thanks again.
...and I'm still locked.
Same here. Look on the bright side though, we probably never would have played it anyways.

Stupid work getting in the way of me acquiring more free games. Missed out on the colour blind, but sure it'll be in a grumble bumble bundle.
I picked up The Maw (Stream) or maybe $3 a couple Winter Sales back. I played it most of the way through, 4 hours, and really enjoyed it. I liked the styling and the slower pace was a nice change. Maaaw?
Yeah, I'm thinking about picking up the DLC on Xbox and maybe even going back for the Lums/Snuffles I missed in a couple early stages. It's just a pretty delightful game.

I felt it was a little too slow.

I stopped on the level with the stag beetles; the level is so vast that I get bored running across the level to deactivate switches and find/eat all the Lums. I get that it's because Maw is so huge at that point, and he needs a lot of space to charge around in...but it felt laborious. But you know, I seem to feel this way after a while about most Twisted Pixel games. The freshness wears off when you're only halfway done.

McPixel is the absolute dumbest game I've ever played. And yet... and yet... I really liked it. I have no idea why.

EDIT: I think part of it is the warioware pacing and the ITS GONNA BLOW tension with the inevitable explosions and the MCPIXEL name proudly appearing over there. Creates nicely subverted tension. That makes no sense but it made me smile despite being lol randumb nonsense from tip to toenails. Enjoyed it enough to complete it 100%.

The X-Com demo sold me on the game and simultaneously made it clear that this was not going to play like "real" X-Com. Whether that's a good or bad thing remains to be seen but I got my GMG preorder in.

I felt the opposite way about the demo. It's kind of a bland one. The multitude of videos and hands on impressions from people (since the review copies have been in the hands of the press for a while now) is what's keeping me interested.

I can understand that. I felt they conveyed the
massiveness of The Maw at that point, his ridiculous indestructibleness. Trying to get him to charge in the right direction was a bit challenging.

I enjoyed the game, though I sometimes felt myself stumped by the game not being very clear about what I could and couldn't interact with.

Makes me want to play the level in Splosion Man with The Maw just so I can see what it looks like in there.

Look like indiegamestand.com is having its first official sale: Escape Goat.

No Steam keys, but you get a Desura key if you pay $1. Otherwise you can pay what you want for the DRM free build (and it comes with some extra music from the game and extra levels or something).

This....

I had a blast with mcpixel and I shouldn't have....glad I picked it up for a dollar during the mcpromo

Personally, I accept the limitations of the demo and know there is more to the game than what was shown from seeing other previews. I did wish they had a more open demo that showed off more of the things you could do in the game, rather than an extreme handholding mission, followed by a single mission. What I did see was enough to convince me.

But man, you read the comments on Rock Paper Shotgun and you think that Firaxis is ruining their favorite toy. No, it probably won't be like the first game in many ways, but it still looks fun.
RE ORC is terrible. Just as a shooter it is awful. Don't do it.
I was going to wait till it hit $5. I know the game isn't good, so $5 it is for my shot of bad

So when did Steam add the different drive installation into their client finally? I just went to install Torchlight 2 and saw the new options. I haven't installed a new game since like June or July so it can't have been there long. It's about time they gave that ability though.

GL. Capcom thinks even their turds are made of gold. I've been waiting on RE5 to hit 5 dollars for a long time. 10 is just too much for a game that won't let me shoot and run.

Not too long ago actually. I believe it was in one of their most recent updates.

I have a Steam related problem that maybe you guys can help me with. I've been prompted by Steam numerous times to install the September 7th update. I always get the pop-up telling me an update has been downloaded and to restart Steam to install it. The thing is, I've restarted Steam every time it tells me this and it still pops up. It's starting to become bothersome.

You can try opting into the beta update and seeing if that does the trick, if you're not already there. Big Picture is a completely new Steam experience for me, and I like it. You can also change the client permissions to run as administrator every time you start the program; we all trust Valve well enough for that, I think. ;)
So... my computer chair snapped in half yesterday when I was stretching. Who wants to buy me a new one?
I'm sure valve will have a sale on them winter sale 2013. They are getting into office software and hardware. It's the next logical step.

If only. Then maybe I could finally grab a Herman Miller Work Chair for my desk since I spend a lot of time in it for work and leisure. Though I'll probably grab a Herman Miller one anyways. There goes any chance of me getting a laptop anytime soon. Not like I really needed one anyways.

For a high quality office chair, I recommend checking CraigsList for used office furniture dealer (big and real businesses), they tend to have affordable pricing ($100ish) on quality used Herman Miller, Haworth, etc chairs. The "office chair" junk that Staples and others try to sell you is usually pretty shoddy.

Haworth uses prison labor to produce office furniture, cube walls, etc. Ironic, no?
