Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Don't crush my dreams!
Well, to throw out some more wacky speculation a bunch of Nordic (formerly Jowood) titles just had their registry entries edited: Gothic series, Spellforce series, Aquanox series, etc. Total of 14 or so games so it wouldn't fit a possible Nordic Indie Gala. More likely an upcoming Nordic week promo.
Speaking of Indie Gala and Nordic, they added a bunch of Nordic games recently to the non-bundle Gala store where you use the Gala points. You do get Steam keys from getting them there, unfortunately the 'deals' are not very good at all. Even after using the points and you are better off just waiting for a Steam sale.
The new deal is alright if you haven't been keeping up with indie bundles, but it's a rehash otherwise. It's been in an Indie Royale and an Indie Gala (which could've been had for $2 and was a better deal). I haven't bought a single game yet from IGS, the only new/non-rehashed deal they've had was Gnomoria.
It's worth mentioning that beating the average gets you two other games, Lunnye Devitsy and Wake. I don't think those have been in any other bundles.

I'm not sure what the BTA is now, but three games for $1.50 isn't bad.

They were in Indie Gala 4

They were in Indie Gala 4. Still good deal though.

I've got a question about....Origin. So I see they're selling a number of games that I'm pretty sure require Steam (mostly Sega and THQ games) but only Darksiders 2 actually says Steam is required.

Supposing I hypothetically had a $20 coupon for doing an Origin survey or something...would I be able to get Steam keys for these games? Hypothetically? :) Or are there some special non-Steam versions made just for Origin? Anybody know?

I don't believe there are any games that have a special version just for Origin. If it Steamworks then it has to be activated on Steam regardless.

Yeah I didn't think so either. It expires 10/21 so I'll probably just pick up Hell Yeah or Orcs Must Die 2 or something before then and consider it a freebie.
you should play xcom now instead of later. I enjoyed borderlands 2 a lot, but i am loving xcom. I wanted to call in sick to work so i could play it.

Greenlight Bundle 2 is live

For $1 you get:

Pixel Blocked!
Omegalodon
Starlaxis Light Hunter

For $5 you get the above along with:

Call of Cthuhlu: The Wasted Land
Perpetuum (30 day trial lol)
Dawn of Fantasy
Oniken (this was also in Indie Royale)
General Conflict
and Awesomenauts Mean and Green DLC bundle which unlocks next week

I don't know if anyone cares, but today I sent off PMs to developers that had their games on Desura for the first Greenlight bundle. I asked for Desura keys, and got one for Syder Arcade within the first 5 mins after sending a PM. Might be worth a shot if you're at all interested in getting Desura keys. The greenlight bundle site tends to have painfully slow download speeds.
Maybe Omegalodon will get Greenlit so BAB3 will give out the Steam key

Ah, that's probably why they had their registries updated. Didn't the Gala guys say nothing would be in a bundle that's already on sale at their store?

I skipped it in BAB3 as it had already been leaked for the second greenlight bundle.
Wow. Groupees added Septerra Core in one of their reward tiers. May just have to throw in another $3 for it. Probably one of my favorite RPGs.
Just FYI, it had been $2.39 on the GoG summer sale.
Just FYI, it had been $2.39 on the GoG summer sale.
I still own it retail, even have the box. I wouldn't realistically purchase it again without it being tied to a more secure account like Steam or GoG.

I wouldn't mind playing septerra core again. I remember liking that game a lot. Not sure what I did with my discs for it. They may be in my mom;s attic lol.

Edit: Anyone have any idea why there are suddenly like 500 giveaways for The Ship on steamgifts? Is it free someplace I don't know about?
Edit2: nm found it. Apparently there is a site giving it away, but it is down atm
Edit3: Ok, it's not down it's just getting slammed. Enter your email and have a chance to win every couple hours: http://blazinggriffin.com/sickkids/

Not only that but I believe The Ship should give you two more giftable copies of itself once you activate it, or at least it used to.

I believe that site said 1 gets you 2 gifts, and then those 2 gifts each get 1 gift.. so in total it's 5 copies.

Protip to my CAG Steam Friends. Never, ever buy a PC Digital Download through a gamestop store unless you feel the need to install impulse.

I bought XCOM yesterday because I wanted to get rid of New Super Mario Bros 2, and well I bought PC Digital Download through the gamestop store. So instead of doing the logical thing of giving me a steam code on the receipt, they give me a code to put into the gamestop.com website that registers impulse that I have the game and then after logging onto impulse (which I finally did today once I got home from being away from my PC), it gives me my Steam Code .

On the bright side though, I got the game and the preorder DLC too which is nice. I was afraid I missed it.
I was wondering too. The site is still down on my end.
Its pretty much down. I got onto the main site once by luck by overall its dead.

Is The Ship the same as the The Ship Complete Pack? same price...

I haven't bought anything from them myself, but I remember deals on Steam codes in the past where some people reported getting a Steam code in their email and others had to use Impulse to get it. It's always seemed like a poorly done system, but it doesn't surprise me that GameStop is a company that wants to have one of their logos sitting on your computer for you to look at.

There are a selection of applications that I only install on a virtual machine. Reasons include they're from company that I worry will try to collect data, or they always want to leave something running (updates, monitoring, etc), or just because I only need them once/rarely and don't want to have them leave behind files when I uninstall that clutter up my program directory. Impulse will most certainly make the cut if I end up buying a game from them.

Thanks for the quick response. One more question, I already have Quantum Conundrum and Hitman, can I gift/sell those keys?

Steam wallet cards are the way to go at gamestop.

Everything I've bought through Gamestop/Impulse (all digital sales) required me to use their client to access my Steam key. I always immediately uninstall the client afterward.

Is Hitman: Blood Money any good? It's the one game in the Amazon pack that I don't have or don't have any interest in.

If you like stealth games and/or games you can replay and do in various different ways, you'll like it. Controls might feel a little dated though.
It's the complete pack.
Yup.

And while the site was getting hammered, it only took me five or so refreshes to get in. Then a couple of hours for a key.

 I love that avatar.

I believe people are protesting SG right now trying to get the pack temporarily banned from being listed. The whole point of the complete pack is that you get five copies total; people who win are listing their two extra copies, and the people who win those receive one extra copy each. This will skew contributor statuses and flood the system worse than the Trine code giveaways in August.

Yes, it is. It's the best "Assassination game" I have played. It's challenging to pull off the missions perfectly, there's tons of different ways to approach each mission (using disguises, poison, sabotage, explosives, etc.) and the game lets you discover them on your own.
