Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Endless Space is 10 bucks over at Gamersgate (steamworks). Cheapest it's been so far, though it might get matched/ be cheaper if it gets a daily deal on Steam.
For those who have the IGN discount you can get it for $7.60. It won't get significantly cheaper than that on Steam even if it hits 75%.

To get it for that price buy the following:

5000 blue coins - use code G2PO
1000 blue coins - use code G2PO
1000 blue coins - use code G2PO
1000 blue coins - use code G2PO

Must be separate transactions. For some reason the G2PO won't work on multiple blue coin purchases when you have them in the cart at the same time.

This will net you 8000 blue coins for $7.60 and yes I am cheap enough to jump through a few hoops for 40 cents.

Then go to buy the game with your IGN discount and the G2PO code. It will come out to 8160 blue coins with both discounts applied. Note that you will need to already have at least a balance of 160 blue coins in your account before doing this but that's not hard to get. If you have any Gamersgate games you haven't given star ratings to yet you get 50 blue coins for each you do.

If you don't want to mess with the blue coins stuff it's still $8.16 with IGN discount and G2PO which is still not bad. There's no guarantee this will get a 75% discount at Steam and $8.16 is still better than 66% off.

I seriously want these deals to stop or be more awful. It's getting to the point where its like i'm looking for a deal on another hdd because i am just running out of room. I think its a conspiracy with Amazon, Newegg and Steam.

Deponia is easily worth it at that price. Plus look at it this way. They're a small developer making fantastic adventure games, your dollar fifty will help them out!
He's fine, but he's not too happy about the amount I'm spending on games. :whistle2:#
lol.

Damn Fry's. loopholes galore

Is anyone else seeing different times for the latest three flash sales? I'm hoping Guns of Icarus Online (at 50%) isn't ending in 4 days as a flash sale, but that sounds like a glitch (or it's not actually a a flash sale for me, as the store page doesn't say flash sale.) Deponia and Fable III are ending 4 hours apart, I hope this doesn't mean more staggered flash sales or just broken ones.

I think Guns of Icarus is showing 4 days because it was 50% off before the flash sale. Not sure what the deal with that is... but yeah, it's not on sale any cheaper than it was a few hours ago.

Hehe, I had 15 minutes between classes when Endless Space dropped, and I was desperately spaffing through the sloooow wifi to see how much ES was in my basket, remove it from my basket, add the right blue coins, realize the code won't work on multiple blue coins, add the blue coins and the code and pay for them one after the other, finally get back to Endless Space, IS IT STILL THAT PRICE OR WAS IT AN ERROR?!, go through the checkout, go through Paypal, run back to class.... made it with slightly under a second to spare. :bouncy:

What do these sales do to us?!
Anyone think Kingdoms of Amalur will go on sale? :)
It won't, because Steam has no one to contact about putting it on sale. Amazon will have a bundle on Monday to get the game plus both story DLCs on Origin for $12.
Kind of unrelated because it isn't on Steam, but there isn't a single deal anywhere for Mass Effect 3
You missed this yesterday I guess...

(from the GMG thread)
20% off voucher GMG20-1FYLZ-EDG8R, excludes some titles that already have a deal

Mass Effect 3: N7 Digital Deluxe $12.80 with above voucher code, requires Origin
Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gods & Kings $8.15 (Steamworks and Steamplay) with above voucher code
Amazing! Magicka is a flash deal! Sweet!!! Plus Inversion and Anna... may be the worst round of flash deals yet.
I'm new to sales in Steam, do they ever put games like NFS or Dirt or Codemaster stuff at 75% off?
Yes, of course

Correct me if im wrong, but the origin release will not activate on steam correct?

A lot of the flash deals have been kind of weak for me. I got KOTOR2 and Amnesia but most everything else I either already had from the summer sale or am not interested in...oh well. I've bought enough from Amazon to last me until the next summer sale lol.
Correct me if im wrong, but the origin release will not activate on steam correct?
No, it won't.

I got the game through Amazon recently and have been playing it using Origin. Origin is good and works well. Yeah, it's nice to have everything on Steam, but if you take that mindset, you'll miss out on some good deals elsewhere.

As it is, I don't believe Amalur has ever gone on sale on Steam.

I think it was 33% for a weekend sale when the second DLC came out, so way back long before the summer sale.

On the subject of the currently new flash sales, Magicka and Hydrophobia are on 75% off at the same time!
Anyone played Don't Starve? It looks pretty interesting. I just can't find reviews.
RS posted his thoughts a few days ago, but I'm sure its buried by now, they weren't positive.
RS posted his thoughts a few days ago, but I'm sure its buried by now, they weren't positive.
This could be said about most games.

I've played it a bit, it's another survival game that throws you in with no explanation. If you haven't seen any game play of it, it can be hard to get going and figure out how to survive. Eventually you get the hang of things and it comes down to spawning on a good map to survive as long as possible. Not the same draw as a Minecraft or Terraria since there is no building aspect. For $6 (preorders get a free copy) I probably could've bought something I enjoyed more.
Deponia is easily worth it at that price. Plus look at it this way. They're a small developer making fantastic adventure games, your dollar fifty will help them out!
I think I'll bite, even knowing that it will be cheaper and probably soon. And eventually in a package with the rest of the series. Just have to make sure I play this one right away...

Also grabbing the Max Payne 1+2 bundle and original Fable. TOSS THEM INTO THE BACKLOG, MUAHAHAHA!

...and Awesomenauts, too. Deciding I don't want to wait for a PSN sale after all.
Compare your purchase and mine. Even the base BC price on the game.

Is GamersGate using a random number generator in their shopping cart software?
I've found a few times that the last stage of the checkout added an extra 100BC or so, randomly. :D Actually... it might be the Blue Coin exchange rate. XE.com shows a few fluctuations for Blue Coins this week.
Still debating on Deponia, particularly since I've been adventure-gamed out and still have a ton of adventure games in my backlog to play.
I'm going back and forth on it but the fact that it will almost certainly hit 75% off at some point, that there's another big sale coming up next month and that there's a second game in the series that isn't even on sale at all right now is making me lean toward waiting.

Skyrim -33% $40.19
War of the Roses -25% $22.49
Saints Row the Third -50% $19.99
Transformers Fall of Cybertron -25% $44.99
Crysis 2 Maximum Edition -50% $19.99
Farming Simulator 2013 -25% $22.49

Are these really daily prices? I would have believed that these were what these cost for the week...

EDIT: AHA! I was right. Updating now with new discounts.

Skyrim -50% $29.99
War of the Roses -50% $14.99
Saints Row the Third -75% $9.99
Transformers Fall of Cybertron -50% $29.99
Crysis 2 Maximum Edition -70% $11.99
Farming Simulator 2013 -50% $14.99

well nothing for me today, daily deals are disappointing

Hope the winter sale is better!

Skyrim would have been a for sure buy if it'd been say 20 but I'll be waiting a long time for that to happen

Also on sale with their franchises:

Crisis -70% $5.99
Crisis Warhead -70% $5.99
Saints Row 2 -50% $7.49
Saints Row the Third The Full Package -75% $12.49
Skyrim - Dawnguard DLC -50% $9.99
Skyrim - Hearthfire DLC -50% $2.49

Hmm...added the Skyrim DLC to cart but when I went to purchase the total jumped by $4 or so like it applied tax.

Looks like it's happening to people for Crysis 2 as well. Watch those insta-buy clicks ladies and gentlemen.

Tempted by dawnguard, but I suspect it will be cheaper come winter and I am in no rush to get sucked back into Skyrim.

Also I am tempted by Max Payne 3 but I had two questions.

1. Looks like the season pass is just multiplayer dlc, is MP still active or would I be better off saving $5.

2. I noticed the game has Gameshield ironwrap as part of its drm. Anyone have any experience with this that can comment on it? When I uninstall the game does it leave anything behind or?
