Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

I blame Fox!
I can think of plenty. It just gets harder to find sales to be excited about when you own a good chunk of the catalog already.
Very true. I have picked up one game so far this sale and that was KOTOR 2.

To anybody that has Saints Row The Third, is it optimised for a wide range of pcs like sleeping dogs is? I'd get it but I'm worried if my pc could play it or not. Reason I mention sleeping dogs is I can play that demo fine.

You know, I kind of want the new King's Bounty game but at $15 I just can't bring myself to do it.

It's 1C. You know that damned game is going to be 32 cents in some bundle someday.

I was really considering it, but then again, it will definitely be 75% off by the winter sale probably with a base price of $20. I wouldn't expect it to be in a gala bundle for a good long while, if ever.

I haven't heard of anyone having issues with it. Plus you can chose between DX9 or DX10/11 if you do have any issues.

About King's Bounty Warriors of the North

If you like KB games you will like this. It is more of the same with some improvements and things added. I've spent around 17 hours on it so far and I don't think I really put much of a dent in the game yet. Highly recommended if you are a fan of the series.

Maybe by the time Amazon actually gets around to getting their shit together for a 1C bundle it will be in there. :p

SR3 has general problems with AMD cards. Sometimes it is just underperforming and sometimes the game stalls out.

On the other hand, I got through the game with an AMD 6870. But the game definitely underperformed what it should have so I had to dial the settings down and make sure to play off of a fresh reboot.

If you have AMD, google your model with SR 3 and the term(s) problem or low FPS

I almost preordered the game because I thought Fantasy Wars was a good bonus (also I've played 200+ hours in the previous King's Bounty games). Now I'm so glad I didn't, considering the game is in bab4!

I'm guessing Valve won't be getting your money this year.

As a counter point, the game plays great with High settings on my 9750; I recently tested it and was getting between 40-60 FPS on the road, 60-80 FPS on foot and the lowest I ever got was ~35 FPS when nitro-bursting down a neon lit downtown street in the rain with reflections on.

I've been going back and forth on the Max Payne 3 collection for $19.99. I think I'm going to get it because I don't see it being much cheaper anytime soon.

I am debating this as well. Does anyone know if multiplayer is still decently active, or would I be better off saving $5 and just getting the base game?

I want Crysis 2, but I think it'll go cheaper for Christmas or at least get matched, and I don't mind waiting another month to find out.

Looks like War for Cybertron is only $4.99, so if it doesn't go cheaper on a daily or flash sale I might pick it up.

Definitely buy it but wait before you invest time in it. A lot of the patches and updates that are releases are not compatible with old save files as the fixes are within the files themselves. I'm not sure if you can continue playing your save if the game has been updated.

It's on sale for $4.99 cause Fall of Cybertron is already a daily deal. So I don't think you'll see it go any lower this sale.

If Sleeping Dogs runs fine for you (several hours into it now), SR3 should run fine. SR3 runs just skippy on my venerable GTX 260. I can't recall if it had AMD issues.

Ditto. I would much rather have a deal on the 4-pack tho.
Still waiting for TL2 @ $5. If it doesn't show, well Valve gets none of my money this year lol.
Not gonna happen. I think Valve will just have to do without your money.

On TL2 I am betting it will get a flash or daily but I'm also pretty sure if so it will be at 50% off only.

I was hoping it would be a daily @ 50% off on Gamersgate and then I could get a 4 pack with IGN discount + G2PO & Blue coins etc and get it down to close to $5 each that way but I just lost my IGN discount this morning so there goes that.

I think the best anyone can probably hope for at this point is to have it as a daily on Steam or GG and then get in on a 4 pack for $7.50.
What's people's take on Dark Souls? It's $15 on Amazon, but I'd rather spend Steam Wallet on it. You guys think it'll be 15 or less?
Exact same question I was pondering. $15 is low enough for me to bite, but at the same time the specter of 75% at either this or more likely the winter sale looms and heaven forbid I spend $5 too much for a game I've wanted since it's release on consoles...

I would be fairly surprised if Steam hits 75% off on Dark Souls so soon. Still, 66% off would be a buck or so cheaper than Amazon's price. My hunch is that it'll be 50% off on Steam at most but who knows.
I was thinking of jumping on Dark Souls too, but I get easily frustrated and i'm afraid I will never play it (due to anger)
Amazon >> Steam if the same price IMO. Better customer service and you also get a $5 coupon for games in January.

Some of my early impressions from a few weeks back on Dark Souls: PTD Edition (PC).

EDIT:
It's a great and superbly designed game, if you can actually tolerate HIGH levels of frustration - which is especially even more so true on Bosses.
If you cannot tolerate HIGH levels of frustration and learning the game and its enemy's moves and replaying areas often - STAY FAR AWAY from this game; b/c it's likely is NOT for you.
Pretty much - this is for HARDCORE gamers only.

What were you expecting? Have you checked out the sales on Amazon, Green Man Gaming, and GameFly? There are a lot of great deals.
My first Steam sale after building a PC,

I have been underwhelmed by Steam since they banned me from the steam community for apparently no reason and then their support would not even tell me why the ban had occurred. Thank god I can still play my games otherwise I would've contemplated pursuing a lawsuit. I've spent over 3 grand on my steam account since 2005 or whenever I first signed up for beta.

Just because every game game you want isn't on sale doesn't mean it sucks. Steam doesn't cater to cags with 200-500+ game backlogs, they have millions of customers that buy stuff and actually play it, even if it isn't 75% off.

Thanks! :D

The Autumn sale clearly wont have as many deals as the Summer sale had (or the Holiday sale will have). But in at least one respect, it seems to be better than the summer sale. I'm speaking of the discount of non-daily deals. Back during the past Summer sale, a large majority of the games that weren't featured as a daily were only discounted by 40%. With this sale, unless they just aren't discounted at all, most of the games are at least 50% off.

The exceptions are games that are just too new to get a bigger discount and games published by Ubisoft (which are only getting 33% off this sale)

I think I just need to do what I did last time. Self imposed absence from CAG and any sales for about a year. Then come back and get that OMG feeling again!

lol. I have no real issue with the sale. Some good prices. Thing is most of the "gems" we would have been buying 2-3 years ago were already in a bundle at some point in the last year so most people won't be trying to buy it or get excited about it.
Deadlight for $7.50 tempting but I feel like this will hit $5 by winter sale.
Yeah, it's a good price for it being semi recent, but I think I want it to hit that $3.75 before I buy it. Gotta make that wallet stretch.

How do you guys shit on this sale so much? Of Course it's not going to be amazing with the winter sale around the corner. Even with that there have been some good deals.
Thing is most of the "gems" we would have been buying 2-3 years ago were already in a bundle at some point in the last year so most people won't be trying to buy it or get excited about it.
Back when I started seeing sales, it was amazing all the stuff for $4.99. Now I own all that stuff. Lately, prices seem to have been dropping faster on new games and I've been thinking "Wow, that $59.99 game is $18 already? Sold!" so I own those too.

Really, there just isn't a lot of A-List material left that I don't already own so I guess it's harder to get excited. That's not anyone's fault, just the way of things.

That said, the actual Steam sales haven't been that amazing compared to those from other places.
