Beginning a sale or two ago, Steam started letting the daily deals overlap. A new set of dailies will appear on the front page and the old set will remain available for one more day. .
I remember now. It gives me more time to ponder over Bioshock now or cheaper later.

got my first Summer Sale card for spending $10+ and it's Torchlight.

sadly i can't use the market until Sunday though to get rid of my dupes from other games :/
I hope you're talking about Torchlight 2. Because Torchlight 1 was free on GOG only a few weeks ago.

I played it on 360 as a rental, when it first came out. Thought it was a pretty fun game and just overall decent but for 1.24$ you could do far worse.
Rather than risk worse, I'll throw a bit of change Clive's way. Thanks.

Morning everyone.

So question about Scribblenauts. I had the DS version and found it to have some control/collision issues. Did they fix that with unlimited?

For anyone who grabbed Dark Souls, here's a little guide to get it running great and looking pretty.

First off, get DSFix. This is the obvious step, since you're locked to 720p otherwise, and have no option to play with 60 FPS.

Next, check out this list of excellent mods that don't actually change the game, they just make it prettier and bring it to its full potential. Be sure to make a Nexus account, download the Nexus Mod Manager, and install the mods through that. You can do it manually too, but trust me, the mod manager makes things a snap, and makes it easy to uninstall mods. Remember to set the setting in the DSFix ini to allow replacement textures as well, otherwise the textures won't do anything.

Now if you're a console peasant, and don't mind 30 FPS, setting up your DSFix settings is super easy (just read the explanations next to the settings in the DSFix.ini). Be sure to set the game to windowed fullscreen in that ini file if you want easy alt-tabbing. Unfortunately I think this doesn't work well with the Steam overlay for some people, so if the game is crashing on launch after setting the game to borderless windowed mode, you may have to either disable your community overlay in game, or just play the game in fullscreen mode.

If you want to play the game in nice, buttery smooth 60 FPS, it may be as easy as setting the corresponding setting in the ini, but it wasn't for me, and it looks like a lot of people have issues. I tried loads of possible fixes (every one I could find), including disabling my DEP via cmd prompt, and had no luck. Someone suggested to roll back to version 1.9 of DSFix (the newest version is 2.1), and that helped a few people, but there was no change for me. Then I tried using version 2.0, and it worked. Game is running flawlessly now. I guess this means, if all else fails, try a bunch of different versions of DSFix till it works.

Lastly, don't believe all the stories you've heard about DSFix's 60 FPS setting getting people GFWL banned. It was a rumor. There is not one confirmed report of a single person getting banned for playing the game online with 60 FPS. The only things 60 FPS will create are some small collision detection quirks. Once in awhile the character won't want to step up small ledges (like... stone onto a wooden platform), and you just have to turn around and do it again and you'll move forward fine (this really is a minor thing, trust me). There's also one or two ladders that you apparently can't slide down without falling through the floor (I've never run into this). Lastly, you don't jump QUITE at far in 60 FPS, so for certain jumps you need to toggle the game back to 30 FPS (backspace is the toggle hotkey), make the jump, then switch back to 60 FPS. A couple bugs, but extremely minor in the face of how amazing the game looks with 60 FPS.

Have fun slaying dragons and whatnot!

Damn it. I paid $12.49 for the Portal bundle yesterday, and 2 could go on sale for $5. Oh well. I got Dark Souls during its flash sale and Metro: Last Light for a penny. I feel like the latter compensates for any more purchases I wind up making. By the way, what are people's opinion on Binding of Isaac? Been following it for a while and that looks like a good price.

Pretty sure it's the hard drive. Initially when I restarted it went into "Automatic Repair" mode and would stay on a blank screen forever.

Then I tried a recovery disk and that one freezes to in the middle of the process.

Then I tried popping the HD into an enclosure to at least save my files before a full delete... and that's when I heard the clicking.

Last thing I am going to try is a USB boot drive for Windows 8 (Windows 8 sucks by the way) but pretty sure the drive just failed. Still under warranty, but very annoying.

BB.com has never given me trouble so it could be a fluke, it just happened to be the tab I had up (order confirmation screen) when things started going haywire. I was also like 90% done with DLing the 12GB of Defiance so that likely was the tipping point for the HD.
Sorry to hear that, Fox. What kind of hard drive was it?

I've been playing Endless Space. Awesome game. It's basically Civ V in space with better combat and a more open tech tree. I recommend it.
Thanks for this. Looks right up my alley, but I will wait for a bigger % off. ;)

Bought Scribblenauts. It was bothering me, lol.

Yesterday 12pm I thought oh I am not gonna buy much. Yet I own Don't Starve, Dyad, Dark Souls, and Scribblenauts and it's the start of day 2.

I own every Two Tribes game and am in the Toki Tori 2 group and I didn't get a coupon. Don't feel bad. :D

Outrage!!! Dishonored would have been the better choice for everyone. Because I need it!

I enjoy my Mech. The Psycho is my current favorite, but the Mechromancer does offer a really unique style of play. And she has a few super-cute outfits. :D
Thanks, hal and the others who responded. On the basis of your feedback, I snagged the pack and will probably use this character when I start actually playing BL2 (as opposed to just collecting keys, which is what I'm doing at the moment).

I guess it is completely ridiculous to hope Brave New World gets even cheaper during the summer sale? :bouncy:
To those who have asked this and other similar questions, here's the answer: if a game is part of a flash sale, the odds that it will be lower through Steam during the sale (and not as the result of a glitch or Gabe-trolling a la Jade Empire) are virtually nil. So if you see a game on a flash sale that you want and you're comfortable with the price, grab it (unless you want to risk waiting to see whether it's part of a "best of" recap day at the end of the sale).

sounding like a pass for me thanks guys and also if i want a game w goofy weapons i can always play ratchet and clank
I played it without the silly DLC weapons. I know some people enjoy them and that's cool but I have more fun just taking people down with a couple Uzis versus novelty weapons. The really silly stuff is DLC anyway, not part of the core game. Well, aside from the giant purple bats.

It's a lot of fun. Not sure if you would like it, but I enjoyed it and found the plot to be entertaining and suited to the over the top nature of the whole thing. Forget Kayne; the blaring music during the Save Shaundi mission alone made the game for me.

Grabbed Duke Nukem 3D (haven't played the unofficial expansions), Scribblenauts and the two Dungeons of Dredmor DLCs to go along with Hotline Miami which I got yesterday from Amazon. Hope today brings some good deals... :D

Waking up to see Civ V on flash deal, including latest expansion BNW for 33% off.  Wasn't expecting that!

Might pick up the Gold upgrade or $5.

http://store.steampowered.com/sub/25544/

Edit - Europeans and other Internationals are SUPER pissed about the BNW sale.  It gets released today overseas AND goes on sale, so a lot of people who pre-purchased for $3 savings are rather upset.

Binding of Isaac is pretty great. It's pretty tough and it's a rogue-like so you don't carry anything from run to run but with the Wrath of the Lamb expansion there are like 200 items so it has almost infinite replayability.

I am not quite as confident this will still be the case this year as much as past years. (Depending on how you are defining Gabe Trolling) My only current point of contention, however, is the day 1 Skyrim flash. Base game 30% flash sale when it's been lower before, and was still 30% after flash ended. (Granted, the DLCs dropped from 50-30 and Legendary from 40-25)

Generally though, daily deals will always be the lowest, flash sales will normally be the lowest, and most flash sales will be repeated as either dailies or flashes again, and most dailies will be repeated as flash sales.

Civ 5 and Skyrim didn't show as games I could play and get cards for until I opened their store pages from the client. Very weird.

Any thoughts on Antichamber? Daily deal so probably as low as it will go (obviously could be in a flash sale). Anyone played it yet?
Pretty nifty game. I gave up halfway through and then came back a couple days later and made some progress. I expected something like Portal but its logic is completely different haha.

BTW not sure if anyone has posted this already but...

fuUzL0d.png

I think it needs a few more boxes:

Will this game go in backlog? If yes -> Is this game 75% off or more? If no -> WAIT DAMMIT!

Y'all cats with 3 votes been awake since yesterday? Yo, lay off the yay.

and lay da black tar in da vein maybe twice make you feel nice ok

kermit-shoots-up-o.gif

So I haven't heard many people here talk about grabbing Antichamber.  The trailer of the game looks awesome.  Are people waiting for a better price, already have it, or what?  I've never heard of it before yesterday, btw.  Trying to decide whether to pull the trigger...

Not sure what you mean by this. The daily deals are good for 48 hours so there will be overlap between them.
It is a bit confusing because the main page says the sales will end today, but if you go to the individual store pages they say that it will be another 27 hours

Eh, I think Bethesda's trolling with these lame 50% off sales on the DLC. I got the base game from Best Buy for a stone Alex Hamilton when it was on clearance at TRU--I'm not paying the same amount for a DLC.

Didn't get either of my Metros.  SAd, now I gotta wait.

I knew I should have grabbed Miasmata from GOG, but I thought I'd have waited to get it on Steam.  Not even on sale now.  Damn.

To the person linking TuneUp ... you really shouldn't list 'registry defrags' as a feature, given that almost all of the programs that do this do more harm than good. "Cleaning" the registry is not something that should ever be done with an automatic tool, and if it hasn't come back to bite you in the ass yet you're simply lucky.

Good program otherwise.

According to a program I use in addition to CCleaner because CC doesn't delete everything, Glarysoft Registry Repair, a registry cleaner isn't the same thing as a registry defragmenter: a tool that condenses the registry and allegedly renders the HDD more efficient.

I haven't used the RegDefrag in GRR doe, just the CCleaner-esque file deletion.

Take my CAG badge, I just crafted the Civ 5 badge. I just couldn't resist the combination of cheap cards and history! Also I pulled my first foil from Civ 5.

A word of advice on Gaige's skill tree: Ordered Chaos is the most unique branch, but also the hardest to manage in-game and probably geared more towards someone playing through a second time (or someone who just likes a challenge).
