I actually prefer the native graphics. A lot of these graphical updates end up taking the atmosphere away.
That's true for Morrowind and (I suppose) Skyrim but I don't think anyone could argue Oblivion has an atmosphere it could lose. Even poor brain damaged Fallout 3 has more atmosphere and consistent setting than Oblivion.

Oblivion was generic, but excursions into Oblivion were badass. I wouldn't call those generic, especially the experience of diving into a portal and taking on hell (almost literally).

Morrowind textures are just horrific, even for their time. I feel like the people are made of blurry Play-Doh. If you're gonna play it, mod it. Your eyes don't deserve that abuse.

Looks like my censorship memes have been... censored. Now, censoring censoring I can understand, but censoring censoring of censoring... of censoring? C'mon guys.

Grabbed one as well.

Didn't realize before I grabbed the key and redeemed it that it was a Multiplayer only game. Which means I will almost certainly never play the game. Kinda feel like the key was wasted on me. Should have checked the steam page before I redeemed the key. Might have been able to pass the key along to somebody else after I realized that it wasn't for me.

EDIT: Looks like the rest of the internet has found out about the giveaway. Website has crashed.

Yeah, dead page for now. Don't know if it will come back. This'll be bundled soon enough though, or dirt cheap, or forced upon us in an Amazon bundle.

When I got in a couple of times 20-30 minutes ago there were 91 and then 88. I bet they're gone now anyway, at least the batch that they had up.

edit: And to be clear I didn't snag 2 codes. I got 0. The page loaded but keys would not. I don't want anyone assuming I'm going to hoard and sell these things.
Fine, your PC Gaming Master Race Cheap Ass badge. $300-500 for a couple games, spoder. Think about it logically!
I know dearest venum is half-joking. This is really more of a wider comment.

I don't simply don't understand the console hate. Calling people console peasants and just being complete dicks about the situation does nothing to further the community - it continues to splinter it for no reason. Console gaming has a lot of positives. For a lot of people it's simpler to set up, plays to the lowest technological denominator in their house, and allows for worry free gaming from a couch, without messing with drivers/mods/updates, games not working, etc. Even though I made my own beast of an HTPC with full XBMC interface blah blah blah - my X360 gets used for Netflix/media constantly, and my wife games exclusively on console - because it's easy turn it on and go - no mouse and keyboard required, no joy2key/xpadder. You can also enter the console market for the price of a good video card, and if you're smart about the game deals and patient, you can easily never pay more than $15 for a title (yes even AAA titles). Sure you won't find something for $2.49 or even $7.49, but it is what it is. The console exclusives are no slouches either. Last of Us, Uncharted, RDR, Demon Souls (before Dark Souls came out), if you're into jRPGs you pretty much HAVE to own a console if you want any that are worth a damn - you can get tons of hours of gaming for just slightly higher prices. Just because I own 500 games on Steam does not mean I got my monies worth. It just means I own a ton of games I'll likely never play.

If we want to be elitist in this thread, shouldn't a "REAL" gamer own both? Or do we just want to wave CAG badges around? Because then you'd have to actually do a true time/cost analysis - and include things like entry prices (including total PC price), and then actual hours gamed vs cost. Hell the best CAG in the world is someone who's playing free-flash and F2P games only, RIGHT?! Please... first and foremost who cares, secondly, I am just absolutely tired of the worthless debate.

I just waited 2 years before moving over to the new generation - and it was worth it, I got a ton of great exclusives for super cheap and had a box that everyone in my house could operate from the remote control (and didn't require the use of my knowledge of Linux and a usb media center IR reader) to use. Also the majority of my RL friends game on console, so the price associated is well worth being able to play games with people I actually know. If anything PC gamers should encourage console gamers - especially since that's where the majority of AAA development comes from (and even a good deal of indie dev thanks to the now dead XNA - which is an extremely approachable dev platform).

In short, PC gamers really need to get over themselves - especially in this thread. I gladly support gaming wherever you're most comfortable and with what works best for your household and enjoyment.

C) Or we could take everything a little less seriously.

From personal experience, lots of people really don't care. Games are games :)
You're just using the same arguments that have been repeated ad nauseam, and taking everything too seriously. Calm down.
I am perfectly calm - I am one of the few people who could care less where one person games vs another - the point remains that this thread is full of members who seem to take great joy in feeling e-superior to others and being boredline troll - rather than fostering community. It was a statement specifically in regards to CAG not the greater PC/console "debate."
Yeah, dead page for now. Don't know if it will come back. This'll be bundled soon enough though, or dirt cheap, or forced upon us in an Amazon bundle.
This is the correct response to those posts:

Decent deal on Retro/Grade but anything less than 75% is a no-buy right now... less than a month from the Summer Sale :whee:
Today's deal is Universe Sandbox at 75% off ($2.49)

Weeklong Deals
Anna - Extended Edition - 66% off - $3.39
Chains - 75% off - $1.24
Retro/Grade - 66% off - $3.40
Sugar Cube: Bittersweet Factory - 66% off - $2.37
The Journey Down: Chapter 1 - 60% off - $2.80
they cut back on the number of weeklong deals, last week they had ten games and this week only half that. I have Anna and The Journey Down from indie bundles and out of the other three only retro/grade looks good but I wouldn't pay more than a dollar or two for it
I used crayons and used coloring books to explain physics to my kids. Then I realized I have no kids and was just drawing pictures on used coloring books by myself...
well I tried, but I think I broke something in the OP. I can't get the stupid space between The Journey Down: Chapter One and Miscellaneous sales to go away:headache:
Fixed it.

It had to do with list tags.

Also added Vessel, which is 75% off.

Sometimes not all the weeklong deals are noted in the news post.

Eldredpe to the rescue! I don't know how you manage to read all that hoobla in the editor, I hadn't realized how complex it actually was:cry: I don't know why Valve doesn't note all their sales in the update, especially when there are so many fewer than last week.
Any thoughts on Vessel? Was it in a bundle at some point, cause pretty much every CAG on my Steam list already owns it.
one of the humble bundles. I haven't got to play it yet though, so unfortunately no help there:cry:

It was in HIB6.

I use the Indie Game Bundle wikia when I get indie amnesia and can't remember which game was in which bundle or whether one was bundled at all.
Added this as well:

Lunar Pack - $4.99 $1.70

I'm thinking about gifting it to Mooby.
I hate sales like this because it's low enough to tempt me, but JUST high enough to make me think twice and hold off for a bundle. Come on Valve, you can do better:nottalking:
I'm guessing he meant that the Shift codes sometimes granted a skin (for special occasions).

Also worth mentioning that it's trivially easy to dupe keys if that sort of thing doesn't cause any moral objections. Which means it's even less important to hoard all your keys or save them until you're at max level in Ultimate Vault Hunter mode or something.
Yeah for me. I made Zero who has to be one of the most frustrating characters to use, I heard he's pretty strong late game. But early game I'm getting slaughtered by everything and my main skill is purely defensive when I'm near death and need to run away, I don't see how it can used offensively when it goes away after your first attack. I'd much rather use one of the other characters abilities like the turrent or going berserker.

Indieroyale isn't a site I particularly care for. Would probably end up being more expensive than the sales, given their stupid pricing structure, but I digress.
I hated Universe Sandbox. I remember getting it for the "Coal" and it bored me to tears.
US is great for what it is. It just takes some figuring to sort out what you're doing. Crashing stuff into Sol never gets old, though.

Looks like it was in indie gala 4 as well, but they're not gonna give you steam keys. I don't think they even offered desura keys at the time either.

At least with indie royale once something is greenlit they will get you steam keys. Indie gala pretends it never happened unless a dev like running with scissors gives them shit.

I passed on the indie royale those two games were in. Kicking myself for it now it was a decent bundle but I already owned serious Sam 3

I was also impressed that Universe Sandbox teamed up with Valve to offer their program for free to every school in the world as part of Steam for Schools.

Vessel is a really good puzzle platformer that was in September's HIB6. The puzzles were quite enjoyable and the fluid physics was a blast. The automaton-creatures you can create and destroy were well done. There were a couple minor bugs when I played it (that blocked a couple achieves). I wish more indie games were as high quality and innovative as Vessel. It kept my attention for 10-12 hours till completion, iirc.

If you play it, choose your upgrades carefully. You can't afford them all.

Assuming the warranty from my 460 GTX continues when they send you a replacement, it does. And it's already packaged up to send to MSI. However if this happens again I'll probably need to buy something new.

I've been playing two games that I recommend strongly for you guys to get on the upcoming Summer Sale (or even for full price): Call of Juarez Gunslinger and The Swapper.

The first one has a demo on Steam which will show you exactly how the game is like. On the surface it's a standard, linear, checkpoint based, two-weapons-at-a-time FPS (with a couple of QTEs), but it's really, really fun. Shooting feels great and there's plenty of enemies. The story is nothing special but it doesn't take itself seriously. There's a leveling up mechanic which encourages quick combo-based shootings, and the missions are short enough that you don't mind replaying them to get all collectibles (the main campaign took me about 7 hours to complete). There's also an arcade mode that is all about the shooting.

As for The Swapper, it's just so damn good looking and atmospheric that it really does stand out over the countless puzzle platformers that are gathering dust on our backlogs.

I use a spreadsheet to keep track of what games I've backed up (Steam backup - the legit kind) and on what DVDs. It works surprisingly well.
