Sorry guys, private beta for the badges and car . . .
CAR?!? and I wasn't invited to this private beta?!?

Car...?

We can now buy virtual-style toy cars, too?

I always wanted virtual cars like Matchbox, Micro Machines & Hot Wheels.

One w/ CAG, Steam, and Valve logos. ;)
Wow, I've completely forgotten about micromachines. I have a little matchbox sized car on my desk that I idly fiddle with.

I heard the CAR was a Lambo w/ Steam logo w/ a picture of GABEN next to it. ;)

Yeah, I got some Micro Machines cars, when I was a kid. I had a few - i.e. the gas-station & some cars.

I think I got more Hot Wheels stuff than Micro Machines, though.

I actually think I want this game. The metascore isn't too shabby either. Anyone try it yet?
I gave it a shot and it was pretty hilarious, though the controls are pretty awkward. Then again, clunky controls can sometimes add to the hilarity as you perform heart surgery and accidentally swipe a cutting laser over the large intestines and shit goes from bad to really bad. I would definitely wait for it to be cheaper, as it doesn't seems to have a huge amount of replayability. Seems like a great drinking game for parties though, that's for sure. Lose a patient, SHOT!

So I just thought I'd give everyone one final update I have on Magic 2014:

Sealed play is broken and frustrating.

While you have a random assortment of cards to choose from by opening booster packs, the computers have their same pre-constructed decks. Winning is almost impossible. I battled the same opponent for over an hour and wasn't able to defeat him. I guess it doesn't really help that I got 4 Time Warps out of six packs. Since my only choice to remedy the situation is to start on my second "deck slot", I've decided to give up on the sealed deck mode all together.
Thanks for the update. It sounds like I can safely skip this release and stick with 2012 and 2013.

I was just looking at PCSX2 information and ran across another way to use DualShock contollers on Xinput (360) games, that uses a completely different driver than the MotionInJoy Driver.

Most of you (using DS3s) are familiar wth MotionInJoy.. nice driver, but the front-end config is a web based interface requires an internet connection (probably for the ad-box but still unappreciated).

BetterDS3 is a different front-end for the MotionInJoy driver that gives a native configuration interface... no internets required.  Requires that MotionInJoy is installed (well, that the driver is installed).

A member of the PCSX2 forums, Scarlet Crush, posted another method to use your DS3 with Xinput games without touching MotionInJoy.

Nuuvem has Risen 2: Dark Waters for $5.40 (good for next 23 hours) if the currency calculator I used is correct. Already have the game so didn't purchase, just mentioning it.

Update: Call of Juarez: Gunslinger for $9 too, Steam activated to boot! Far Cry 3 is $15 but Uplay only.

Last edited by a moderator:
Defiance is really cheap on Nuuvem too (cheaper than their newsletter advertised). Only $15.

Not Steam, but I'd imagine it's just a code you enter on Trion's site. MMOs are pointless on Steam, more or less.

Crafting badges gave me all this, won't be using any and most are due next week. If you want any just add me and ask.

More pinball musings...

For all you Pinball FX2 freeloaders out there... This Sorcer's Lair Guide, helped me figure out the few remaining points of the table I hadn't figured out yet.  That said, it might spoil discovery for you.

Pinball FX2 is also known as Zen Pinball on Android -- I swore the physics and style seemed familiar.

Yearning for more realistic pinball physics? (Pinball FX2 is video pinball... they found their niche but it doesn't feel like the real thing... I was always a fan of *physical* pinball.)  Good news! Pinball Arcade is coming to steam in August (it was greenlit) (first PC port... oddly after the *Mac* port and mobile versions).  The physics feels far more realistic, and the tables are recreations of meatspace tables.

If anyone wants a System Shock 2 50% off coupon, PM me. Says it doesn't stack with other discounts, but I'd like to give it away since I have no intention of using it. Expires July 5th. Only PM me if you plan on buying System Shock 2 with it.

EDIT: Gone

I have come across two useful coupons from crafting a badge:

- 90% Off Hamilton's Great Adventure

- 75% Off Ultratron

And yes, I did use them along with caaaaaaaaarddzzz funds to buy the games. I couldn't resist since they were so cheap. The coupons sucked me in... I was weak...  But they did fall into the > 75% off realm. ;)

Interesting. Thanks for sharing that. I guess it's just the discount on the vast majority of coupons that sucks! ;)

for what it's worth, I played some of Pinball Arcade on PSN, and didn't enjoy it much at all. Everything felt unpolished, especially the menus, compared to FX2, and I didn't have nearly as much fun. Then again I've never been huge into pinball, so I don't care very much about realism or even notice the different physics, but aside from that I really see no reason to bother with Arcade. But I guess that was what you were saying all along, and this has been another completely pointless tangent

I played on Pinball Arcade on my Nexus 7 (android)... I have no effin clue what about the menu's annoy you? Looking for an open world pinball game? -lol-

Yeah, my whole point is about Pinball Arcade trying (and having success) being a Pinball Simulator. I've played a lot of meatspace pinball. I used to have a nice toy pinball table as a child. I always appreciated pinball over videogames for that real element. Most pinball videogames are designed with non-real physics. The Sorcerer's Lair table seems designed for long-play... it's comparitively quite easy not to lose your ball. Real pinball tables are designed to eat quarters... have a large gap between the primary flippers... etc.

I think Pinball FX is slick as a video-pinball game, it just doesn't scratch a "real thing" itch.

they just feel and look clunky to me. Maybe the android version is better, I wouldn't know. I guess that would be my problem with it then, I'm not one that enjoys that "real" feeling and constantly losing my ball because I'm terrible at pinball. I guess for what it is, there isn't really any major problems with it, I just prefer the video game pinball feel. To each their own I suppose ;)

Jeez, for some reason Steam Big Picture is refusing to recognize my wired 360 controller. It still works in games of course, but Steam just isn't seeing it. I think I've tried most of the obvious "stupid" solutions and I'm stumped. Anybody had this happen to them?

could be sleep mode, (disable the sleep mode for the controller)

this one sucks

or it could be faulty hardware, I had this problem and it was a fucked usb port on mobo.

also could be a corrupt steam file (I never was willing to try these) it's a bitch reinstalling over 666 games. (thanks fox for getting me to that magical number :) )

Well, this thread has gone insane.

Which means we need the Summer Sale.

Which is the time when I stop visiting the thread, as it goes 20 pages thicker before I come home from work. :p

I think its a problem with the latest release. I just happened to click on the forum button before letting steam restart with the last update, and that was the first thing all over the comments on the release that big picture controller support got borked

Oh MIND LINK I wish I was able to like posts via mobile. I'm sittin here in labor and delivery for over 24 hours in the hospital waiting for my kid to be born, running on fumes and that shit just cracked me up.

also could be a corrupt steam file (I never was willing to try these) it's a bitch reinstalling over 666 games. (thanks fox for getting me to that magical number :) )
Admittedly my mobo is almost embarrassingly old but I hope it's not that! The other ones don't seem too likely, I don't even think a wired controller has a sleep mode and I wouldn't know what to do about a corrupt steam file, although I am opted into the beta client.

I think its a problem with the latest release. I just happened to click on the forum button before letting steam restart with the last update, and that was the first thing all over the comments on the release that big picture controller support got borked
Well that makes me feel a little better, but again, since I'm in Steam beta it updates almost every day and this has been going on for a while. I guess I need to experiment more, but if it is a problem with Steam then at least I know I don't have to replace any hardware.

How much do you think Blood Dragon will be in the summer sale? I'm hoping for at least 50% off.

Might have better luck in the trading thread, a lot of those AMD vouchers are still around.

I just tried Pinball FX for the first time and I agree with this. It was fun, but it just doesn't feel like pinball at all. How can it be pinball when the ball doesn't have a sense of weight? The physics seem completely abstract.

Oh MIND LINK I wish I was able to like posts via mobile. I'm sittin here in labor and delivery for over 24 hours in the hospital waiting for my kid to be born, running on fumes and that shit just cracked me up.
Congrats and best of luck to you, man!

I'm just waiting to see the post in the trading thread:

Yep! Also real pinballs bounce like crazy... something most video-pinball ignores. That said, if you want to see a total lack of ball mass try Dream Pinball 3D (Steam/GOG)... but it's a waste of time and money.
