I think it's better to sell off the Summer Sale cards now, and if you really want to craft the badge, or stock up on the cards.. wait until the last day of the sale. The cards keep dropping in price for every 3rd community vote. By the end of the sale, I expect them to be 20 cents or lower. Better to sell now while they're higher priced.

The only problem is that the Skyrim is pretty much the only way to break even/make a profit on that. A full set of cards goes for around $4ish, and the Skyrim BG is rare. Personally I'd sell the cards for a guaranteed $4 rather than take a gamble to maybe get around $7 at best, close to $2 at worst
They're going for ~$0.30ea currently, so ~$3 for a set.

Yeah, I agree.

I'll probably craft a badge at some point though. I have two steam accounts, so just from voting on both of them I'm gonna end up with at least 20 getaway cards by the end of the sale. That doesn't even count the cards that I'll get from spending money in the store.

I'd suggest buying the summer cards and crafting a badge if you can get them cheap enough [or in some cases free]. I ended up with a rare skyrim background and sold it for over $5 and also ended up with uncommon Bioshock one and it went for 2ish plus they usually throw in another summer card once you get a badge crafted.
Hey, I have a question. Did you get an aditional Getaway card from crafting the getaway badge?

I crafted a Saints Row badge last night, and it gave me a getaway badge with my emoticon & background.

Yeah, they replaced the mystery cards, so you get a card drop with every badge you craft. Not sure what will happen after the sale ends, if they'll still drop cards, go back to coupons, or do something new

Most people would say it's worth it full price, so probably.

It was $1 from Humble Bundle Weekly a few weeks ago but that's unlikely to be a price you see again.
You had to BTA to get it, I think the lowest price I saw the BTA at was around $3.50. $5 is a decent deal for it though.

I'm playing games and selling cards right now.  I do want to collect a full set of summer cards for the badge, cause why not?  If it self funds itself, then great.

I already have life $2.50 from just playing games and throwing the cards up for cheap.

Picked up the Y's Chronicles myself. All of the Y's games on Steam are also 66% off so if you missed some it's a good time to get get the set. Finally got some cards from playing Civ 5 myself...don't really care about them...cared more about what the new expansion pack had!

Is Defiance worth it for 66% off or should I wait. Do they repeat the daily deals.
If you get it now, Raptr has a bunch of rewards you can get for free by idling for a certain amount of time....there is one right now, only 8 left to claim but it gives you an XP boost, a Scrip boost and a tier 1 lockbox....there are two other rewards for playtime...looks like an outfit and a vehicle...

Daily deals usually get repeated again once for a flash deal and once for a community vote. They don't appear as daily deals again unless Steam does a recap on the last day. I don't remember if they did this last year. It's still risky to wait, but it's when I do when I'm on the fence.

I can't speak for how good the game is, or about how cheap it has gotten in the past.

Definitely worth it for that price, especially since it doesn't have a monthly fee.

There is a chance it could pop-up as a flash sale or community choice later on, but it also might not. I'd pick it up now because it most likely won't go down any further.

wheee

got Ys the oath and Ys origins on the flash sale.    It looks like Ys I and II is just the same as the old turbografx games, while they are classics, I have played them to death already and will wait for them to be really cheap if i was going to pick them up for PC as well.

I'm kind of pissed about this whole card thing - I'd love to sell them to fund my summer sale like so many others, but I hadn't purchased anything on Steam in over a year prior to the sale. So, of course, Valve won't let me sell anything.

Sorry, GabeN. I've been unemployed. I'll try not to do it again.

Being unemployed means you have A LOT more time to play games! I don't see too much of a problem with buying a game for $2.50.

Eh, I wouldn't make any claims about any cash expenditure without knowing the full situation.

Sorry about now being able to sell cards. You can try to collect what you can now and maybe get a cheap game if it's in the budget.

Caught up again, another set of flash sales with nothing for me. Now I'm getting sorta paranoid though on whether I ought to bite on the games already 75% off that I thought would be safe. I just was hoping to save my wallet until the end if it wasn't a flash/community/daily, but now it seems I should jump on them while the irons hot.

Well, being married to a budgeter makes me a CAG by default, but it also makes my finances pretty solid when the unexpected happens (like unemployment). I'm employed again now, so it's in the budget. :D I put $50 in my Steam wallet for this sale, and it's more than half gone already.

Disappointed Tropico 4 won, it's been on sale tons of times and Reus hasn't been on sale once.
No reason to be disappointed. One of the Getaway cards is for Reus. Which means that it is guaranteed to return as a daily deal. It's card number 7, so it's probably gonna show up on day 7 of this sale (starting on Wednesday).

EDIT: Looks like I was wrong about the card number matching the day of the sale. Tomb Raider is 9, but it got featured on day 3.

Bah, I've been watching gameplay for an hour and I still can't decide on which (if any) Ys games to get. Felghana looks more fun since you're not confined to a tower, but Origin's page says it's an improvement. Eh, maybe I'll just wait and hope there'll be a bundle one day.

Yep. I crafted 2 getaway badges and each time I got a background, emoticon, and a random getaway card.

I didn't even make the connection between the cards and the sales, but then I haven't been paying attention. I guess it'd be in my best interest to stop buying things until Tomb Raider is a daily.

Ys I and II are literally 25 years old(but they are classics so not a bad place to start) and are starting to show their age, I would suggest getting one of the other 2, either oath or origins. Actually I would suggest getting one of them, then if you like it, get the others, they are some great gaming.

Yeah, i've tried to play 1&2 before, and didn't get too far. My debate was between the two new ones but I decided on Felghana. Origin's gameplay might be improved but it looks like the whole thing takes place in a single tower and from what footage I watched all the environments looked very similar which is a real turn off for me.

Flash deals are a boooooo. Guess its time to get some sleep
What? Ys! Ys! Ys is on sale! The Summer Sale is over and now I can leave satisfied!

Ys games have never been dailies during seasonal sales IIRC, so if you want Ys Chronicles I'd buy it now. The other Ys games have been 75% off before though.
Definitely only flash and community votes, never a featured daily. Both were -75% once -- during the Winter Sale--, but traditionally only get a -50% sale price.

I really wanna bite on Oath in Felghana. I'm craving for some hacknslashing dungeon crawling action. Is the stretched widescreen mode the only widescreen mode there is?
Both Oath and Origins have a settings option before you launch. From there you can fine-tune the options for your system. I had to fiddle with it a little because it stretched on default, but it's easy to fix.

If I had to get one Ys game which one should I get, I am looking for the most recent and most refined version I guess.
Oath and Origins are about the same. Oath is a remake of YS III, but it's a ground-up remake and looks and feels new. Origins came out only about a year later. The gameplay isn't much different. Origins is a little longer and encourages replays through multiple characters.

Unemployment?

Gabe's silver-spoon azz didn't need to learn that word; well he knows the 4 letters "P-L-O-Y" as evidenced by this shameful card-racket.

Stop accin' like trust-fund whiteboys ever dealt with hardship.

I wish I could find a budgetter -- I'd wife that as long she's human or an especially effeminate animal like a flamingo or a vulture.

Cool name. What does it mean in this context?

I prefered Origin. It may be in a tower, but you get 3 characters with completely different playstyles.. while you only get 1 with Oath in Felghana. Felghana was harder to get into for me, need to get back to it.

I enjoyed Ys Origin up until the sand boss. It was brutally hard. After 20-30 failed attempts to beat it I looked up a video to see what I was doing wrong. After watching the video, I laughed, then uninstalled the game. I don't have the youthful drive anymore and I know when to walk away from a fight. That game kicked my ass. I hear it is the easier one of the two also. So I will not be play YS:tOiF.

y u so old

Well, this place changed alot. So far my only real pickups the last few months have been some Star Wars games and WD: 400 Days of Summer for $3.50.

Haven't seen anything worthwhile aside from Bioshock Infinite being $30, but I haven't even beat 1/2 yet. & maybe Fez or FTL for cheap.

Will probably get Hitman Absolution for $6 tho.

The Witcher 2 has cards now too...one of my favorite games so I think I may be crafting this one. Good sign it may be a daily deal as well.
