Yeah. Only reason I want Monaco is my friends are gonna buy it so we can co-op. I think it might win though.

Hoping we see Rogue Legacy as a daily today. Been itching to play that.

Also hoping we see Rogue Legacy, but I can't imagine it'll anything higher than 50% off and even that's a bit of a stretch. I'd still probably pick it up at that price since I've literally heard nothing but countless good things about it.

I had to dig in over the weekend and resist buying. With nothing else taking my fancy, that 20% discount looked mighty tempting!

I hope we'll see something similar to Kerbal Space Program for Rogue Legacy (and Prison Architect!) with a 40% discount. I think 50% could be a case of "too much too soon" whereas 40% might be enough to tempt those who are on the verge of buying.

Afternoon talking point:

Castaway simulator "Under The Ocean", which is one of Steam's Early Access titles is 75% off at $2.49 (down from $9.99).

I like the look and the idea of it, but I also like games that are ready to play. I think I might have to class this as an extremely cheap pre-order option.

What say ye, fine fellows of CAG?

Good morning all! I see Mass effect 2 went on sale, too bad there's no DLC on Steam nor is it on the Xbox 360 (being that I'm currently playing ME1 from the games sale)

Ran across it yesterday and loved it instantly.

Oooh, $8.40 for Final Fantasy 7. So tempting, but I'm in the middle of a playthrough on my Vita.
That is very tempting. I also doubt it will go lower if it even gets a Daily/Flash deal during the Steam sale since there's no discount at all right now.

Anyway, got my first foil card from Torchlight 2 a bit ago. Think I'll hold onto it for a bit since it's going for less than $2 right now.

Just a heads up, IndieGala is giving away keys for Hacker Evolution: Duality on their facebook. Only requirement is you have to like their page and have 3 friends that like their page, then you can try every ten minutes (it instantly tells you if you won or not)

I got a key on my third try

I bring you all a belated, extensive review on Chivalry.

I should note that this was my introduction to the game: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=160350316

First off, it's more or less what I heard and thought it was. A medieval CoD. You choose one of four classes, man-at-arms (fast, can dodge, one handed weapons), archer (derp), vanguard (medium speed, huge weapons, sprint attack that is usually a one hit kill), knight (slow, high defense, big sword, only class with a shield), choose between a few different weapons that are only marginally different in execution, and at that point the game kind of boils down to a really simplistic system.

Are you using a man-at-arms? Run up to someone, hit them three times. Are you using a vanguard or a knight? Run up to someone, hit them twice. Are you using an archer? Hit them with two good arrow shots (overpowered), and if they rush you, pull out your dagger and hit them three times. It's really, really shallow. Yes, you can block (which, unless you have a shield, is a quick, timing based block that you can't hold up), and you can cancel your attacks mid-swing, but it's really just a walking up to each other and seeing who can hit the other guy first twice, or three times if you're a weaker class.

This would be fine, I suppose, but everything just feels kinda cheap. The graphics are okay, nothing special, but the movement and general gameplay just doesn't feel smooth. I don't even think it's the animations that are the culprit, things just feel choppy. The game, like I said, plays like a medieval CoD, but the problem is that it doesn't have near the same level of polish as CoD, and is so much shallower than CoD (which has a ridiculous level of customization and very tight gameplay).

And really, jump online and you'll just find yourself fighting five archers at a time. Strategy? Sprint at them, strafing and juking around like a kid jacked up on Mountain Dew, hope they don't headshot you, and then try to slash the shit out of them. But then of course, they can pull a dagger which is pretty much just as strong as the man-at-arms' weapons (almost no one plays the man-at-arms class, probably for good reason), and can block and attack not so much worse than you can, and if they hit you with any arrow while you were charging them, they've got a leg up there.

Within a handful of games, I pretty much got it down. People suck at melee combat and generally just button mash (which works many times, sense battling is like playing rock-paper-scissors, almost), so I cancel an attack and double-swipe them for a two hit kill, and hope that I don't randomly get instakilled by an archer. I'm certainly not coming from a negative angle because I'm finding the game difficult though. Quite the opposite, since I got MVP on my second TDM.

Lastly, the lag is weird. Your connection can be fantastic (50 ping or so), and the game will still spike and hang every so often, as everyone runs in straight lines, then suddenly warps back to where they actually are. Really annoying.

In the end, just not a very polished game that's shallow in pretty much every category. War of the Roses is a much smoother, well crafted experience with a high level of customization, solid combat, and better gameplay. It's harder, yes. It still has its lag issues and an abundance of archers (though they aren't nearly as overpowered), but as a whole it's a much better made game and more enjoyable experience than Chivalry.

But eh, many would disagree I suppose. I'm not much of a WotR fanboy. I've played it, gotten tired of it, and uninstalled it multiple times. It's not the greatest multiplayer game ever and it can get annoying, but Chivalry is just that much worse. If you got it for under $5, I still don't think you made that much of a misstep (perhaps I'm just saying that to make myself feel better), but otherwise, it ain't worth more than that.

But of course, which game has probably 1000+ more players online at any given time? Chivalry of course! Judging from the in game chat, I now know what CoD fanboys (and girls!) play when they're tired of gunning each other down.
omg venum u obviously went into the game looking for reasons to call it the cod of midevil games to fit ur review. there is already a midevil cod n its called the elder scrolls.

I wonder if they know most cards are only 10-20 cents now xD if your lucky
Making money from cards is simple: Get cards, sell them on the market, and never actually use them to craft anything. The trick is to act fast, because right now, thanks to the Steam sale, the trading card market economy is crashing so fast it makes Greece look healthy in comparison. Get your cards quickly, sell them cheaply, and get out. Don’t ever bother waiting for prices to go up, because that isn’t going to happen soon.
He certainly knows and isn't helping the situation

Can someone help me? I bought saints row the third full package a while back on Amazon (comp can't run it ATM, looking to make a new one) and I'm left with the mobile app, it doesn't show I have the dlc. Is there a way to check on mobile app?

i dont know about the mobiel app, but you can start the download on steam, then right click the game and pick "View Downloadable Content." It will show you all the dlc you have for the game. You dont have to download the whole game to see that, you just have to start the download.

The graphics...yeah...it's Unreal Engine 3, almost every game with that engine has that same drab look to it.
I'm not picking on you but I really hate when people say stuff like that. It's an engine. Artwork is what you see, so blame the art department and not the engine they licensed. To illustrate my point I will point out some decidedly non-drab Unreal Engine 3 games.

Alice: Madness Returns

BioShock: Infinite

Borderlands 1&2

Bulletstorm

DC Universe Online

DMC: Devil May Cry

Dungeon Defenders

Mirror's Edge <-- case closed right here

Sanctum

Super Monday Night Combat

All Valve has to do to fix the problem is give people an incentive to craft. Give away 100 games and give each level a slightly higher number of chances to win. Problem solved.

For those of you who bought Total War Grand Master Collection outside of Steam, did you get individual Steam keys or a single key?  I remember at least GMG and GG having sales back in April and maybe Gamestop?

Also, I already own Rome and Medieval II and am assuming I would not get extra copies if I buy through Steam which makes the deal slightly less appealing.  Are the additional games still worth the price?  Is all of the DLC worth the extra cost over the Total War Master Collection?

Natural Selection was fun when they had the free weekend.
Congrats to the community for not voting the War Z last night.

Disagree on Idiot's Chivalry review. Just because a bunch of people just spam lmb doesn't mean the combat isn't nuanced. I wouldn't be surprised if many people didn't even know there are more attacks tham lmb, or how to feint or queue up attacks. Anyone that knows the nuances of combat will wreck you everytime.

Archers are a mild nuisance at best. MAA is stupid good in the right hands.

I've never had bad lag or a choppy game. Depending on what server you are on dictates how the game is played. Some servers are full of lmb spamming noobs, some are full of the guys that will wreck you all day.

I think your preconceptions of the game formed your opinion regardless of what actually happened once you played.

Apparently at least in Germany Riptide isn't available for sale, so their voting options were L4D2 or WarZ. Really a no-win situation there.

Chaos in Deponia is $3.99/3.49 at Gala Store, which is the cheapest I've seen it. Lots of other things on sale but so far nothing that looks worth mentioning.

Edit:

I've never had bad lag or a choppy game. Depending on what server you are on dictates how the game is played. Some servers are full of lmb spamming noobs, some are full of the guys that will wreck you all day.

Important to note that he's in Hawaii, so his ping to most game servers is going to be trash and negatively affect the experience in games that require low lag. Most people shouldn't have these types of issues.

Terraria, Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion, Killing Floor, and Castle Crashers all have cards now.

Wouldn't that be a good indicator that those four are the next batch of flash sales?
