I hear Red Dead Redemption and Bayonetta are getting ported to PC, and they will both use GFWL until July 1 2014 and they will then drop GFWL and use a combo of secure rom and tages, with a dash of starforce with a 2 PC activation limit and require you to always be online.
Ummm...shouldn't you be playing Lost Planet 3 right now? ;)

Pre-ordered.

BTW you can preload a few MB of Arkham Origins right now.

In development for 18 months, Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut includes the game's downloadable expansion, The Missing Link, the Explosive Mission Pack, the Tactical Enhancement Pack, an additional called mission "Tong's Rescue" and boss fight enhancements.

I've seen HR + ML + those 2 DLCs being offered as a package (despite being separate codes or gifts) and that's bound to fool some people. Point: You don't need the 2 smaller DLCs if you plan on upgrading to the new version (which includes them).

Careful.

A Wii :wiiu: copy is $50

This looks and sounds familiar...

Whatta you mean $37 for Batman, you can pick up a steam code for $20-25 easily in either the trade thread or eBay. I got mine for $20.
True enough, I was talking about a true preorder for the preorder bonus and as far as I can tell it looks like those codes from video cards aren't considered a true preorder... Of course the preorder DLC is playing as Deathstroke (In challange mode I suspect) and its not worth the 17 dollars... I just wonder if I'm going to have to double dip later on for it with a GotY edition... (Something I'm not fond of doing.)

That's the Windows release date. It didn't come out at the same time as it did on consoles.
That's the proper release date for Steam...

Capcom looking into options to handle Games for Windows Live shutdown
I'm honestly more curious how the owners of various THQ properties are going to handle it... Red Faction: Guerrilla is in a bundle right now and I would like to get it... I just don't want to deal with GFWL. (Which it seems to still have.)

Weeklong Deals

lots of them this week
My wallet is giddy with relief... Last week was bad.

Most of you probably don't care about this game.. but I think it's weird that it got a Mac port, but not a Windows port.. and won't be coming to Steam.
Seems like a hell of a way to waste money... I know Sega is actually pretty flush with cash right now but this seems rather silly...

I heard both are director's cut versions with development headed up by Phil Fish.
Speaking of Phil Fish... I heard he was in charge of PR for Wild Games... Not sure why anyone would think that though as Day One: Garry’s Incident didn't have a 5 year development cycle...

About RF:G - Nordic has the IP. You might wanna bother them.

Actually, I thought, Sergey Titov was the PR-Guy for Wild Game Studios. ;)

And here is where I am as well. I never even got as far as removing the shrinkwrap on my PS3 copy :oldman:
I bought it on PS3, played to just before the end and then got sidetracked, never finished. Then I switched to PC gaming so I sold PS3 copy, bought PC version, never played. Bought Missing Link, never played. At least I know that if I hadn't paid for those original PC versions, the new one would cost more.

I enjoyed it on 360 and I'd probably buy it on Steam if they ever release it for Windows + Steam.. This is one of those rare occurences where a port is Mac exclusive.

Sorry if this has been discussed before
It's not weird. Feral Interactive are scum. They extort Mac players with overpriced console / PC ports, and I'm very surprised that this game isn't being sold for $40. Oh and their propietary DRM? Limited installs, activation servers... it's just as bad as Securom in that regard, and I don't know why Mac players don't complain as loudly as we PC players do.

There probably just happy to have games on the platform...

I imagine that there are too few instances of mac users actually buying their crap. That, or most mac users do what I did and move to a pc, or at the very least, bootcamp.

Deus Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut is now live, along with the discount for owning the older version of the base game + DLC. Right now you can buy gift copies with the discount, not sure how long it'll last though.. If anyone needs a copy, I'd be willing to sell them for $5 each.

Blegh.  I thought they would have it as a separate upgrade priced at $5 base.  This way I'm guessing it'll never get a further discount lower than $5 if you already own it.  Lame.

Available: 25 October 2013

This game will unlock in approximately 2 days and 22 hours

I'm in. Have deus ex on xbox, never got around to playing it, although it's high on my list (I want to play the original first).

Has anyone seen any actual confirmation that GFWL is shutting down next July?  Or is it just the same regurgitated BS that was about AoE Online?

That's what people are making it seem like. But I haven't seen anything besides what referenced AoE Online.
If by this you mean, has Microsoft made an official announcement, the answer is no.

The writing does appear to be on the wall, however. The fact that major publishers are taking significant steps to remove GfWL from their titles is an indication that this goes beyond internet hype. Warner Brothers Interactive just pulled it from the Arkham games (see the last 10 pages or so of posts in this forum) and Capcom is working on it as well.

This is from GamesRadar on August 25:

We've asked Microsoft for more details on the (non) announcement and will update this story with any response.

UPDATE: Microsoft confirmed that Age of Empires Online will shut down on July 1, 2014, but declined to comment on GFWL's ultimate fate.

It's typical of Microsoft to not release information just to attempt to avoid a lot of backlash from the community, so I wouldn't take their lack of comment as anything positive.

Okay it's early, I haven't had my damned coffee yet and I give up quoting on this 2.0 or 3.0 or whatever the hell version of CAG this is because I've always had issues with it.

TL;DR version of  what I tried to say with quotes is:

- Nordic recently re-opened the multiplayer on MX vs ATV that went down when THQ went tits up. I'm hopefully they'll address the GFWL situation.

- $5 for Deus Ex Director's cut patch is a nice loophole for gifting to people who never had it before but as someone who pre-ordered it and paid full price (yeah I know, shut up) I don't want to pay $5 for a patch that gives a new game+ and tweaks a couple of things. I think Moobster is right that they did it as a loyalty discount which is unlikely to stack with further discount. Lame.

- In the announcements for the recent Batman patches that did away with GFWL it was said "Microsoft has begun the process of closing down Windows Live services over the next year". It's still nothing official from Microsoft but I'm pretty sure they have better contacts with Microsoft than we do and aren't patching for the fun of it.

I suspect they'll remain quite till the XBone is out... No distractions, no showing your potential customers you'll drop a “loser” in a heartbeat.

I don't know why it's unlikely to stack. Other loyalty discounts have. The Cognition Episodes did. Yes, DLC, so maybe it doesn't count. However, so did Scribblenauts Unmasked. It's a 25% discount for Unlimited owners and stacked with the recent 15% off.

I'd like to know if Deus Ex director's cut really has improved visuals, I got the impression that was just for the Wii U version and was considered improved in comparison to the other console versions.

Ok I found an interview, he said that Missing LInk had improved visuals and they have now applied that to the main game. There's also improved AI. I'm gonna buy it.

Giantbomb says (about wiiU ver)

The improvements in the visual department consist of smoother shadows, better lighting and anti-aliasing which are now part of the whole game. According to Eidos Montreal's Emile Pedneault, the Director's Cut on Wii U is even "sharper than the PC version," likely referring not to the actual sharpness of the resolution but to the graphical improvements originally found in the "Missing Link" DLC which were applied to the whole game while also being improved even further.
The Joystiq review says

Director's Cut also offers several additional features and improvements over the original Human Revolution, not least of which is new lighting and re-worked textures. These new graphical enhancements make NPC faces in particular pop more than before. Those you interact with, be they augmented combat cyborgs or just everyday gun runners in the back alleys of Detroit, feel more human, and the experience is better for it.

Yeah. It's not like we can't expect this to be at 75% off probably as soon as the winter sale, which makes a non-stacking loyalty discount just about pointless.

Elder Scrolls up to 50% off at Gamefly. Includes Skyrim DLC. I'm still waiting for 75% off on the DLC but with 20% off code on top of this deal it comes closer. Assuming 20% code is applicable.
