This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

Assetto Corsa is incredible.

I was expecting a good racing sim. I got an absolutely amazing in-car experience and the foundation for an excellent PC game. Can't wait to see how it evolves.
I'm shocked at the performance I'm getting from a 3 and a half year old video card that is below the required* specs... No pop up, no frame issues, no crashes (of the non car variety) and truth be told... A visually impressive game on whatever settings I'm using. (Just rolled with the default settings since it seemed to detect what I was running.)

Gamepad feels pretty good. I'll likely look around to see what the community thinks in regards to settings.

Just... Wow. :D Real happy so far. :D

* I am running a i7 4770k so my performance is no doubt bolstered by that.

It does need more tracks... Including a few ovals in my American opinion. (Bristol and Daytona would be my first two choices) It also needs more manufactures and more cards in general. Its greatest offense is not having the P1 in it but considering McLaren just started shipping them in real life and they do have the 12C in the game I have allot of hope for it being added sooner rather than later. :D

Voted for Remember Me since I would buy it
…at a glitched 90% off price.
Actually… no I wouldn't.

One of my concerns about a good simulation racer like that is whether or not you really need a steering wheel to get the full benefit of it. Not sure if a gamepad really does those justice, but if you think it still feels pretty good I think it might be worth considering.

Well, this is my one failing of the sale. I bought the Wizardry pack at the start, not expecting that it would be targeted for a greater discount. And I was even thinking how smart I was for having waited until then, adding to my spending totals toward globes, rather than buying it during the fall sale. Alas.
BSB is reaching for his belt as we speak...

What card?

^_^ Glad you're happy with it. I think I'd seen in the forums that gamepad support was decent. Yes, my impression is well optimized and stable.

So I won a copy of Starforge and even played a bit. Seems to be running alright for Carlmundo but the game did not run well at all for me. This game is listed as an alpha and is is absolutely an alpha build. Animations are very basic and jerky in motion, the game mechanics are still very basic and a little confusing, and so forth. Crashed on me once when the server was shut down, after that in the next game I got stuck in a digging animation and game crashed again. You guys stopped shortly after that. Wish I could have played more :(

Thank you for the copy though. Hopefully with further improvements this will be a good game. It has a lot of potential! <- but also a long way to go
Hope you had fun :)

I would have played for longer but after so many hours on Gun Monkeys I felt a bit drained (I believe you won that too) and still had other stuff to cover. It didn't help none of us knew what we were doing on StarForge but maybe we can do a stream soon once I'm done giving away stuff.

I think I managed to give everyone in the Twitch chat a copy of Gun Monkeys though!

Also, just a word in advance, on the next stream today (Monday) at 7.30pm GMT we'll be playing and giving away copies of Nether.

*EDIT* 7.30pm, not 7pm

Can't pull the trigger on Wizardry even if it is glitched. Just don't see myself ever playing them.
The price for the pack may be a glitch since the pack cost less than the individual game. The pack cost $3.74 during the Steam autumn sale.

Wizardry 8 - $2.49

Wizardry 6, 7, and 8 Pack - $2.24

have you played it?
Played Wizardry 6 & 7 a long ass time ago. They're dated, and very very hard. Classic dungeon crawlers, though I wouldn't recommend them to people who aren't already fans of the genre. And to be fair, there aren't a whole lotta fans left.

Just... Wow. :D Real happy so far. :D
Yeah, me too. It gave me the grins. Don't get that from many games these days. I'm assuming my rig will suffer greatly whenever AI cars get added, but i'm definitely content right now running hotlaps.

edit: And yes, my 360 controller actually feels very responsive. Good touch on the analogues.

Undoubtedly, a steering wheel would be ideal but I went from being all over the place to doing a respectable job of staying on the track (with no hud turned on, racing from the cockpit) in a handful of laps... And I did not start with a slow car.

I remember playing Wizardry 6 a while back...good games but really old school too. If I didn't own them on GOG they would be mine. Didn't pick up the Stanley Parable though...worth it? Not too cheap though.

The price it's at would coincide with a 75% off discount stacked with a 40% off one.

Oh I did have fun. You sounded burnt out for sure so after the second crash when I was loading it up and you said you were switching games I didn't push it. It was fun but short lived. Again, if the game was further along in development and a little more fleshed out we may have known what we were doing

Looking forward to Nether!

Crafted the snow globe badge, got some crappy item. Why didn't I sell these cards when they were 50, 60 cents?

For those who get Wizardry 8 - good luck getting it to run w/in Steam. It doesn't work for most - check the W8 Steam forums.

The best advice I can give - Wiz 8 comes w/out CEG, so it's essentially DRM-FREE. You'll basically need to copy the entire Wiz8 game-folder right on over to C:\Wiz8 to get it to run properly.

Then, you'll need to create a shortcut of that EXE from that new game-folder (C:\Wiz8) - and toss that on the desktop. You can run the shortcut that way from the desktop.

If you want Wiz8 to work w/in Steam - add Wiz8 that you put to C:\Wiz8 as a Non-Steam game.

Really want to get back to old school dungeon claw RPG like the Wizardry. But I think that I am too old for old school rpg ...

BTW, nitrosmob's avatar shows he/she has good taste in anime: Maison Ikkoku, the original and still the best love-comedy comic/anime.

You guys are really making me want Assetto Corsa. But I won't be able to play it for a bit until my new rig is complete.

also how did I just get a Divekick Booster Pack? I wasn't playing anything.

Feeling conflicted over Wizardry 8 bundle. The bundle IS cheaper than the Wizardry 8 itself but the gameplay seem so anachronistic compared to Skyrim or even Oblivion that are sitting in my backlog waiting to be enjoyed.

But my CAG hoarder instinct is kicking in and urging me to buy the bundle.

Considering the forum comments and MysterD saying that their are some compatibility issues with the game on newer OS, I just don't know if its worth buying.

Why can't steam glitch a superior game like Stanley Parable?

That'd be like buying Madden 1995 when you have 2013 in your backlog. No point son, no point.

you don't actually have to be playing , it's just if you've been on during the last 7 days when the magical steam fairy selects your golden ticket.

Also, after doing all of that madness for Wiz 8 (of copying the entire game-files from Steam-folder over to C:\Wiz8) - I had to use the game's NGlide config to set-it up (which was ffine).

That wasn't enough - opening vid wouldn't play right.

Like many OLD games, it's worth setting the game's EXE file shortcut to:

Compatibility mode for Win XP SP2;

Checked boxes to Disable Desktop Comp & Disable Visual Themes.

Checked box to Run program as an Admin.

Then it fully-worked.

Hmm, I should probably pick up Wizardry, heard a lot of good things, but blobbers just don't excite me. Still have Grimrock to get to anyway.

You right Fox! And to distract myself from this Steam Sale until the new deals roll over, I'm going install Skyrim again and play with this ball-in-a-cup
cup-and-ball.jpg
while it downloads and installs.

Or play Bauder's Gates II from my GOG backlog. Classic RPG.

I don't think Wizardry 6,7,8 is a price glitch. It's been lower than Wiz 8 this entire Winter Sale. I even mentioned it to someone in this thread at the very start. As a matter of fact, it was lower than Wiz 8 during the Faill Sale too.

meh, skyrim/oblivion and the wizardry games have completely different gameplay
I don't know about that. Static screen, random dice roll, damage. Non-static screen, you press a button to swing a sword, random dice roll, damage

I'd consider Skyrim an evolution of the Wizardy game play, just, you know, with actual gameplay instead of just staring a screen with numbers telling you what's going on.

But I guess it's technically different in the way porn is different from sex. So yeah. Watch porn. Don't have sex.

You're wrong. It's like F-Zero.

After finishing Brothers, I have 2 thoughts:

1. I want to buy Bioshock Infinite during the Steam Flash Sale, before that story gets spoiled. I would've hated having Brothers spoiled for me.

2. Maybe I need to start being willing to spend a few more bucks on the more recent, higher profile games instead of buying a bunch of $2-3 games I kinda wanted.

Pricing games to make it look like a glitch? Very sneaky, Steam...very sneaky.

I completely agree with #2. That's why I'm willing to wait for a 50% discount for games I know I want to play within the next month or so, especially so I won't get it spoiled prematurely. Backlog/vault games can wait for 75% + 20% coupon or bundle :) If I know I want to play it soon though, it makes sense to pay a bit more (but still never full price!).

I'm starting to go for #2 a bit more now too. That's why I was asking about the Stanley Parable...It's been raved upon a lot and looks extremely unique. I have a list of games I may get at the end of the sale (10 dollars or less on these games maybe costing 1-3 each), but something like this I will likely play right away. Also bought Gone Home, and that's likely next in my list to play. Hopefully I get something out of it!
