Can't wait for my copy of This Was Supposed To Be The Future but sadly I went the cheap route so it gets shipped on the 17th (hopefully) when Belleruche's debut comes out
Where can I grab that one?

Hopefully it's not too pricey.
$19.75 plus shipping at CDUniverse. For the two, it cost me about $44 shipped
Oh wow...gonna have to pass on it but thanks!
Its because you are importing them (The Nextmen never gets released in the US or Canada).

The Nextmen - A Child's Introduction To Jazz (Mix)

ah shit, forgot to say that if you happen to dig The Nextmen's mixes, make sure you check out DJ Ivory's Hear No Evil series. They are mixes of straight up hard to find as fuck hip hop tracks with a few classics sprinkled in them......good luck trying to figure out what and who the songs are, he uses them kind of like a treasure hunt

Belleruche - Turntable Soul Music (album)

my copy cannot get here soon enough

this goes up with Flunk's Personal Stereo and Chungking's Stay Up Forever to create a tight race on which is the best non hip hop album of the year so far

Dinner At The Thompson's - Lifetime On Planet Earth (album)

so far, its a pretty good trip-hop album

The Franco-American duo Dinner At The Thompson’s release their first opus “Lifetime On Planet Earth". The smooth and sensual grain of Lucille’s voice mixes with Fablive’s productions, an eclectic concoction of acoustic soul, jazz, electro-funk creations, and audacious break-beats. A sound that leaves much to reflect on for the musically adept, but most of all that blows you away with its finesse and sincerity - definite chemistry ! The stories Lucille tells through her lyrics, a blend of urban poetry and existential reflections, comment on beginnings, on endings, on life experienced ; a natural, warm voice that will nourish the finest of gourmets. Colored with subtle bits of sampling and live instrumental recordings, their musical world is also inspired by the acoustics and rhythm in Afro-beat. The album was conceived to give a warm feeling, a rarity in today’s often over-produced-sounding albums. Fablive brings rap, soul, and electro into real time - fresh, delicate, and rough all at once. It isn’t surprising that “Lifetime On Planet Earth", after being mixed in France, was mastered by Dave Cooley, the craftsman of all the Stones Throw projects ! The purists will be appreciative…but they won’t be the only ones ! All the dance floor lovers will relate. And you can be sure that they’ll be getting down too ! / “A show that is rare today, fresh, surprising… a live in crescendo that brings us from jazz to funky-electro break-beats-that’s what we’re talking about ! Not to be missed. ” THE GOODTIMES (C.A. Journal) / ” It’s been a long time since I heard an album as original as this!… beats that make you want to bounce, and a voice that makes you melt. ” PHARCYDE (Hip Hop Group, L.A.) / ” I’m digging this sound! We don’t know if it’ programmed or played… it’ real groove ! ” LEE FIELDS (Among the kings of funk)

Marikuanna - Quietly Awake (album)

so far, I don't understand why the person who upped this on OiNK put it under Trip-Hop but its pretty good so far

you can check out some of his shit on myspace:

http://www.myspace.com/marikuanna

edit: Like most pot smoking music, its okay for a few songs and then it becomes really fucking boring.....plus you notice that the guy's flow is too fucking simple. I wouldn't mind an instrumental album of this though

Just finished: Citizens of Sleep - Sometimes I Just Can't Get Outraged Over Copyright Law (album)

As recommended by senorwoohoo.
Good shit.

Now:
Gwenno - Afterglow
Gwenno - Dance Alone
Gwenno - Hey You
Gwenno - Lime Chordial
Gwenno - Quiet Whispers

Gwenno is 1/3 of The Pipettes. She did these songs solo and is probably going to release an album.
I hope she does, this is good stuff.
