Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

Keep it on topic or your post may be deleted to prune down the thread size.
can anyone post a new list with prices. everything is scattered. thx
No prices since they are all over the place, but these are the ones being reported as on clearance at some select locations. I culled these out of the last several pages in preparation for a trip to Target later:

I'd just like to be on record as saying that there's no discounting how appreciated it is when people post all of the recently pertinent information from a thread.

The drugs, particularly, thank you.
That's how I do it doc005 and it works like a charm. I find it comical when employees and people around me stair at me while I scanning my sheet of paper:p
It is my first time I will be doing this. I had no idea this thread had such amazing shit in it. I printed out UPC codes for Hitman 2, Tomb Raider: Legend, DOA4, and LOTR: BFME II and will be heading out to Target tomorrow. Will report any new prices of course.

In addition to io's list there's also the following games of note that are on clearance for the PC that I've seen. I'm sure there's others.

Condemned (7.50 at mine)
Dark Messiah (10 at mine)
Warhammer Mark of Chaos (25 at mine, reported at 13)

Among others, I'm sure, but if you're looking for a list, ogbaka, this is a small start.

Edit: I may also start printing out UPC codes for the Wii games. Haven't done it yet, but it seems to be the best way to go about it.

The Wii titles are definitely YMMV. I went tonight and the only reasonable ones are Chicken Little/Barnyard. The others at my store ranged from $34.98-$49.99. Thanks for the consolidated list io.:D

Ok, I went back a little further (like 15 pages) and added some more:

Must haves for the atypical 360 owner: if you can get all of these on clearance, buy a 360 or if you have a 360, enjoy what I believe to be some of the best games available on the 360.

However, I sincerely don't believe these are on clearance: the ONLY one I've seen clearanced out is Kameo.

99 Nights, DOA4, Prey, Table Tennis, and Tomb Raider ALL make sense, since they have been marked down EVERYWHERE. However, DOAX2 and Dead Rising just seem impossible to me because they are the definition of games meriting $60 MSRPs and certainly not old or sleepers: both very big high profile games that seem weird to be cleared out.

Then again, maybe Target wants to make room for 100 copies of Meet The Robinsons and Ghost Recon 2.

I've been toying with the idea of starting a new Target thread and keeping the OP updated on a weekly basis with all the drops and the lowest reported prices. I'm not sure if I want that responsibility though as I'm already doing that with the Sears thread right now.

I just think this thread would be so much more useful with a constantly updated list in the OP complete with lowest known prices, so if no one else does it, I guess I will eventually. My local Target stores seem to keep up fairly well with the price drops, so the lowest price reported here is usually the local price.

There is also (all for PC):

Civilization 4 Warlords - $7.48
Warcraft 3: Frozen Throne - $4.98
Doom 3 - $4.98
Prey - $4.98
Hitman: Blood Money - $7.48 (but $20.98 around here)
Civcity Rome - $19.98
Caesar IV - $19.98

Splinter Cell: DA for the PC was 9.98 at my Target today.

Also, missing from the list that you guys have been compiling was Battlefield 2: MC 360, which was mentioned a bit back and I only remember because I liked that game a lot when I rented it and have been waiting for a deal to pick it up.

If your Target has the remodeled game area with the more spacious glass shelving, chances are 360 and Wii games will not be on clearance. It's the older Targets with the limited space that are clearing up room.

I got the last Civcity Rome at our local Target for $9.98 on Monday, so it might be lower elsewhere as well.

I scanned almost all of those UPCs at the two nearest Targets, and the only clearanced one was Kameo at either store at 14.98. Neither store had it in stock either. Only missing 2 or 3 off that list. I dont know how the games go so fast around here, but I havent had any significant Target finds in quite a long time.

Was the Linden Target one of the 2 stores you went to? Need to know whether or not I will be wasting my time.

Which one? There is like 4 local Target's ;)

I have no interest in it, but I saw it at the 9th Street Target, still tagged $19.98.

I think for the most part I'm done with this round...grabbed Prey, Condemned, and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic for uber cheap.

I want Hitman Blood Money, but it's taking FOREVER to go down to $7.48.
Is Dark Messiah of Might and Magic any good? I am thinking of biting it at $10
Try the demo, I enjoyed the demo immensely and feel it's definitely worth $10. I haven't installed the full game, yet, but the demo kicks ass.

I got it at 9th Street on Monday evening, and it was marked correctly.

I also saw several copies of Axis & Allies for the PC clearanced at $9.98.

Yeah, it's definitely worth $10. It's a flawed game in some ways and the voice acting annoys me, but there are some pretty cool parts to it, too. It's a sword and sorcery game that uses the Half-Life 2 engine. Do you really need to know more?

I disagree - I've been stocking up on 360 games for my new Elite (hopefully ;)) and I only have a passing interest in Kameo (which another CAG already sold me from Target) and the last 2.

I've been to several Targets and only 1 had ANY 360 or Wii games on clearance. I plan to go there tomorrow to see if anything dropped and check on a few other games. Like you have seen, Kameo was the only 360 game on clearance there that I could tell. The list I made was just a compilation of every report that I saw in this thread. I make no claims as to its accuracy (other than it is accurate for what other CAG's have claimed here ;)).

Tonight I went to my closest Target again - it is like in a different universe or something. The Wii (and 360) games were not on clearance but a few were on regular "sale" in that Avatar and Barnyard were (till Saturday only!) the bargain basement price of $44.99. WTF?? This indicates to me they don't plan on being part of this current clearance round any time soon. Yes, this Target is a nice spacious one with lots of empty room in their glass cases. The one with the clearance has one of the old-style sectioned-off Electronics departments which only has one side with cases committed to games.

What sucks is the ONE Target I know has these titles on clearance (well, Barnyard anyway as I didn't check Avatar) is so far away. I suppose I could try calling, but they will probably only quote me the shelf price (the games weren't tagged on clearance, which is good). I just have a feeling the prices won't have dropped this week. Need For Speed Carbon DS and MLB 2K6 for PS2, which are the only games on clearance at my local Target, did not drop from last week ($14.98 and $9.98 respectively).

Bionicle Heroes - $20.98
Happy Feet - $13.98 (I think)

Ant Bully 031719191703
Avatar 785138301235
Barnyard 785138301259
Excite Truck 045496900021
GT Pro Racer 00888819323
Monster 4x4 008888193333

Thise are some im looking up so if you wanted those that should save you some time. I have a question though, when you look at these codes on the scanners does it show up a nationwide price or the price and inventory of the store your in? Like if you find something that scans for cheap shows up and you cant find it..is it in the back?

Hmm. Heading to Target tonight, I might look for Doom and Prey. Doom's probly been gone for ages though.

Oh well. It's worth a shot.

Maybe not, Mine has like 3 or 4 copies left. I guess no one wants it anymore, or everyone already has it. :)

Anyone able to snag an extra copy of Prey (PC) on the cheap, please let me know. I've hit 5 Targets within reasonable driving distance and none had it.

Got one more store to hit after work, but I'm not keeping my hope up.

I've also only seen Kameo as the only 360 game on clearance in my area.

I'm OK with you making a new thread, as long as you keep it updated. As you're doing that well enough in the Sears thread, I don't think it'll be an issue.

This thread is big enough as it is on its own, so a new one wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'm 0 for 2 when it comes to GameRush and Target. I printed out and scanned just about all of the 360 games that io listed and none of them had any drop whatsoever at two different Targets. The odd thing is when I called Target yesterday night and read off a UPC for Tomb Raider: Legend, the guy quoted me $21 over the phone but when I scanned my printed UPC, the scanning machine stated $30. It makes me wonder if scanning them in the aisle doesn't reveal the clearance price and the employee has to hit Total like at GameRush for the prices to be deducted.
I checked 99 Nights for the 360 and it rang up at $29.99 and Warhammer Mark of Chaos at $34.98 in MD.
All games ranup normal Price untill they Hit TOTAL (ENTER KEY).

I caught Kameo on clearance at my target store, but didn't pick it up.

If any of you are interested though, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey (PC) has gone on a 75% off clearance, going from $30 to $7.50, well worth it for such an amazing adventure game. Well, atleast it has at my store, I'm not sure, good luck at yours.
All games ranup normal Price untill they Hit TOTAL (ENTER KEY).
...

So basically I just wasted 2 trips to Target since I only scanned them on the "self-serve" scanners.
All games ranup normal Price untill they Hit TOTAL (ENTER KEY).
you've got to be kidding me, so just grab the game and have them total up and it's on clearance?

I've never ever had that happen... all the games I've ever bought on clearance at Target always came up the right price in the scanner.
All games ranup normal Price untill they Hit TOTAL (ENTER KEY).
What kind of proof is there to this?

Honestly, I'm inclined not to believe this since that is not how Target clearance has ever been in the past.

However, my Target is a larger Target and does not have any Wii games on clearance yet (checked numerous times by DCPI numbers at the scanners). If this were confirmed to be true, it'd give new hope to Wii-game seekers everywhere.
I've never ever had that happen... all the games I've ever bought on clearance at Target always came up the right price in the scanner.
Yeah, only lame-ass GR does this kind of crap. At Target, whatever it scans at on the floor scanners will be what it is when you ring it up. The only time you need to fuss with prices there is if it scans "not in system" (or whatever it says) then you need to ask an employee with a hand scanner to look up the last sale price and you can usually buy it for that.

Lord Draconus777, I saw Dreamfall for $7.48 at my local Target (they have plenty of PC games on clearance). I'd never heard of it. I'll check out some reviews - thanks for the heads up.

Guys, Target's scanner/inventory system is NOTHING like the one GR/TRU have in place that will not show clearance prices until 'Total' is entered on a register.
ALL registers at Targets are designed to show you the price in one of 2 ways:

1. Scanning an item's UPC number

2. Inputting a DCPI(which stands for Department Class Item) number in to a hand scanner or a price scanner with numbers on the side. This is a 9 digit number that Target uses for inventory.

The DCPI# shows up when an item's UPC is scanned with the LRT(?) gun, at a large LCD price scanner, or at their website(for most items at least).

Note that not all Targets have price scanners with the large LCD display and numbers on the side. If that is the case, you will have to use UPCs to find prices. These older price scanners don't show DCPI#s either.

My local Target doesn't have the LCD/Keypad scanners, but they still show the clearance prices of the games. Also, at the register, they ring up at clearance price.

So, no, it doesn't only apply once TOTAL is hit. At least, not here.

All that matters is that not every Target clearances out their stuff at the same time.

The ones in my area (and I've checked all 6), don't have a single 360 game on clearance.

I had them scan the games right in front of me.

So, it just matters if your Target has decided to do it or not.

Our Target has the Mad Catz 360 S-Video cables for $10.xx, down from $16 or so.

Is Kameo still considered a YMMV thing? My Target has three copies left, but they're stuffed into a random slot in the case. The tag is gone for the game, leading me to believe it's being removed from the case and put into clearance.

Well, I drove all the way across town and hit up 2 Targets. One I'd never been to before. Nothing on clearance there except some PC games but Kameo did scan at $14.98 (however, they didn't have it). The Wii games were not on sale, and none of the other 360 games were.

So, I'd say Kameo is the most likely game to be on clearance of all the Wii/360 games reported here.

The other store where they did have Barnyard and Chicken Little on sale still hasn't changed their prices (DAMN!). Chicken Little still $19.98, Barnyard still $24.98, Kameo still $20.98. They finally pulled them from the case and there was all of 1 copy of each one left. When I was there last time I didn't know about all the other Wii games people are seeing on clearance (GT Pro, SpongeBob, etc). I had only printed up UPC's for Barnyard and CL. Well, wouldn't you know, it turns out ONLY those two are on clearance. I got the DCPI's from the shelf tags of several other Wii games and they all rang up full price. Wierd... So it wasn't the bonanza I thought it would be (I had dreams of a full case of 75% off Wii games that hadn't been pulled and marked yet ).
I can pay up to $23.45 non-cc paypal to someone who will sell me a new copy of chicken little for the wii.
I'll check mine to see if the price on the one there has changed. When I checked on Tuesday, it was still $27.98, but didn't have it scanned.
So... has anyone noticed if the Optimus Prime/other huge transformers have dropped yet?
I did notice today that the Ultra Magnus/Skywarp Classics two-pack was on clearance today. I didn't want to hope they made it to the next drop, so I picked one up at the $13.98 price point.

I saw quite a few of these yesterday at the same price.
All were the same 2 packs.

Picked up the last Prey in the state (lol staff member did a search)...who wants it?

also saw a bunch of PC Dooms but the sticker was $19.xx, dam should've scanned em...
