Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

Keep it on topic or your post may be deleted to prune down the thread size.

Target - Federal Way, WA.

nothing for 360, but they had several current gen games on the end cap. going to check Tacoma tomorrow; it's late g-night.
Cincinnati Area:

Every target I check has jack on clearance. I have seen some of the PC games mentioned at the Norwood(checked last week) and Western Hill(checked two weeks back) targets, but not much else. Tri-county(checked last week) sucks. Bridgewater Falls(two weeks) had a lot of games listed, but none scanned on clearance. I recall the Middletown Target(last week) as not being very good for deals either. The Target off near Eastgate area(I think the monroe exit) was a waste of my time couple weeks back, but things may have dropped since. I usually avoid Target now in my hunts for cheap games, as atleast in my experience they have not had much on clearance.

If anyone can get an extra copy of Mario 64 DS for cheap(
do those original xbox live subscriptions work on the 360?
Yes.

Also, saw a GBA / GBA SP / Gamecube link cable by Mad Catz for $8.48.
I think you mean Milford for the eastgate Target, becuase I have never seen a Target in Eastgate
Yeah, I just look for the target and get off at the that exit cause I can never remember the exit name. But yep, that was it.

io, sorry to hear about your pets. That's terrible. You should get in on the law suite though. Get some of your money back at least.

I'm going to stop by another Target Today and hope I can get some of those Wii Games on clearance. Wish me Luck!

Yay more xbox live for way cheaper than they want to charge!

Got 3 xbox live 12 month sub cards (with original xbox colors) for 24.95 each. Roseville CA Target.
Picked up today:

NDS Super Mario 64 DS - $7.48
NDS Sims 2 - $4.98
360 Fight Night 3 - $7.48
360 Dead Rising - $14.98
Wii Avatar - $12.48

Pretty good haul...

Brent
Darn, I have checked a few Targets in the Los Angeles area and Dead Rising is still full price. This new YMMV thing sucks.

price checked some games at the landes san jose, ca target and they do come up with the clearance price. too bad they were no where to be found. reported clearance games they actually do have rang up full price.

Yeah. Stinks I paid $14.98 for it and already opened it. Shoulda known it would stick around for at least another drop.

.... they are powerless to behold. We gather here to sprinkle ashes... from our late friend's ceral bowl.
Hmmm, I work in DFW area and find stuff almost daily, it helps that I'm a Field Tech and can hit 4+ Targets a day. :p

It really is hit and miss with Target tho. I know a Dept. Manager at Target and he says some stores are designated "clearance" stores which means other stores ship their clearance stuff to them for sale.

Lewisville is one such store. GL hunting! :)
found nds advance wars at the target in burleson, tx a few weeks back for 4.98. it was behind the glass with no price, i was already to pay full price for it but it rang up and the girl said that it must be a mistake. i got it for that price.

I saw copies of Gunpey and Viewtiful Joe at my Target yesterday but they were behind glass. I wonder if they discovered the "no price" error so they locked them up?

Had the wifie pick up some copies of Kameo, finally dropped to $7.48 this week. Only next gen clearance game I've seen at any of my local stores in Northern VA. Still have a few copies left. Probably check back next week to see if they drop again.

went back today and got 2 wii chicken littles for 9.98 and 2 kameos for 7.48
I traded the chicken littles to eb games for a new wii godfather.
If anyone wants to trade for kameo let me know
Yes, all orange-stickered and on an endcap. To answer the other person's question, yes, this is a remodeled Target (Rochester, MI). A few weeks ago some of the games were on a low shelf inside an open display case (still clearance stickered), but there are no more clearance games there now. Not much is left now, but I think there might have been a Wii SpongeBob game.

The strange thing is that I haven't seen these games on clearance at another local Target -- and they are usually in sync.

Oh, and there were some new additions to the endcap today: Wavebird controllers at $14.98. Might pick one up for my son if they hit $7.48 before they are gone...
I haven't been to Target in two weeks and hadn't gone through this thread in a while. Went to that Target tonight and saw one Wavebird for $14.98 on the endcap and snagged it. Not sure what I'm doing with it, I bought one for full price two months ago and still have the reciept.

The only clearance video game I might have seen was Pimp My Ride for the 360. I didn't even go close to look but it was on the bottom shelf of the open case you described above. On the endcap there were at least two different PC games but there was so much other crap there I didn't bother trying to see what they were for fear of knocking everything off.
Damn Target was the source of that recalled food (the Iams pouch stuff) that my cats ate. All our cats were ill to varying degrees in Feb and 2 went in for hospitalization. They seem to be OK now though a couple may have kidney damage. Cost me 500 fucking dollars though. They should have pulled this food by now but just make sure it isn't the same crap. Actually, I'd avoid any pet food with wheat gluten in it, even if it isn't part of the recall.
IO, I feel for you and I'm glad your cats are ok now. Our cat ate the Iams canned (which wasn't the normal brand we buy) in the first half of January and died on the 23rd about 2 weeks, 3 vet visits and $2300 later.

got 3 wavebirds tonight for 14.98 each at my favorite target. the usual wii swag and sling bags were there also but i figured i had spent enough for one night. one friend of mine has dibs on one so i might have one left for trade. I have to go back and pick up that 360 3month gold and a headset for same friend tomorrow. Still no price cut wii games at this one, I really wanted to do the switchero at the GS for godfather too. Burleson store for those in dfw area.
Damn, I need more Wavebirds - my kids wear those things out quickly. Are these more widely on clearance, or just at the same limited Targets most of the games are? When I was at the one Target with the 2 (and only 2) Wii games on clearance I noticed the GC memory cards were on clearance, but they didn't have any Wavebirds. They seemed to have a lot of accessories on clearance, actually (lots of PSP stuff). I don't think my more local store had anything on clearance except the Wii magnet boxes and dog tags.
Same here. I need at least a Wavebird and a GC memory card for my Wii so that I can unwrap the GC games that I've collected so far :oldman:

Which location did you see the GC cards on clearance? How much?

I know it's not game related, but the Cars movie stuffed toys are clearanced down to about $4 from $20. I had to have the Luigi one, as I loved that car in the movie.

If it wasn't mentioned already, I saw black official GameCube controllers for $13.98 with a red price tag. It might have been restocks because there were quite a few of them. I'm gonna wait for one more price reduction.

You're kdding - my boys would be all over that deal. I had to run around to 3 or 4 Targets and Fred Meyers with one of them last week because the Cars diecast vehicles were on sale both places. We ended up getting just about all of them. Despite the sale it was very uncheapassed of me (those things ain't cheap). I think they bought one or two of the stuffed ones when they were near $20, too. I'll have to check that out.

eau - it was the Glisan target way out there near (or in?) Gresham. That is a long haul for me, but it is the only Target in northern OR as far as I can tell that has the old style game setup (and thus had all of 2 Wii games on clearance). I think the 251 memory cards were $13.48 instead of $19.99? Not such a great deal, really, but a start. They didn't even have Wavebirds, so maybe those had already sold out.

By the way my kids played the Chicken Little game that I got at that Target tonight. They seemed to enjoy it quite a bit. I didn't watch much as I had to run out and check out the Fred Meyer clearance . But it looked like it had a nice control scheme (running with the Nunchuk, aiming/turning/shooting with the Wii remote).
I saw Hitman Blood Money (PC) for $14.95 at my local target. Good deal
$14.98 in Roseville MN

Scored a Live 12-mo card on Thursday for $24.xx. There was another one left, and I told a friend about it, but when we went back last night it was gone. Oh well. Also grabbed the only Kameo I saw for $7.48, for the same friend.

My store has plenty of copies of Tomb Raider, N3 and DoA4 but they're still in the case, no clearance. And yea, I've scanned the UPC's.

Picked up Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy for $13 yesterday and then traded it in to Game Crazy for $28 credit. I believe most of the Wii games get $28 at GC.
Picked up Splinter Cell:Double Agent for PC for $10.
at the target i went to, they clearenced the pc games but not the console games. if u live in boyton beach, fl (ill be shocked if any cager does lol) go to the target next week. they'll probably have the 360 games on clearence. i asked the guy to price check, dead rising was $60!!.
I saw splinter cell DA at $9.98 also. The target I went to had 4-5 of them I hoping they will still have some when it drops to $5!!

How good is Kameo? I've never tried it and can't seem to find it in Milwaukee, WI for clearance. Wish I could get a great deal like $7 bucks for it. Hehe.

...?!?! Seriously? I've been looking for some games to do this with... So all wii games get $28? How about at EB?

Anyway, I guess I should look for some Wii and 360 games at my Target. Can I return them if they're unopened and I have the reciept?

Yes.

Today at Target I got Xbox Live 12-month Subscription pack for $24.98 which was 50% off clearance. This is the original Xbox Live card, but it says Xbox 360 Compatible.

Target DPCI 207 00 0333

Good Luck looking for them if needed. This was in San Jose, CA.

I saw one about a week ago at the Oak Creek Target, probably not still there but you could try :)

Its one of my favorite games on the 360, I bought it for $20 and it was well worth it in my opinion.

If these games everybody's talking about being on clearance are still behind a glass case at the Target by my house, does it mean that they are not on clearance if they still show the "old" price?

^scan the prices. Could be clearanced and haven;t have time to take it out yet. I recommend printing out bar codes if your too lazy to ask an employee.
this is old news. Target a couple weeks ago clearanced this to $14.98 and then $9.98.
It really depends upon your store, though. My local Target kept ringing the last remaining one up as full price just up until this past Monday, when it came up as $25. I can tell you that my Target, for the past year and a half, has its clearances up at least two to three weeks later than other stores. A bit of a pain, really, but it is nice to be able to grab a few items after other people have missed out. ;)

WTF... I've gone to that exact target multiple times and nothing!
mad.gif

Bah, just got back from one of my local Targets. The following scanned at full price:

Super Mario 64 DS
Ant Bully Wii
Barnyard Wii
Chicken Little Wii

Guess I'll go check the other location later...damn YMMV...

Drove to a GC today for some free disc resurfacing...and headed to a out of the way Target...
360 DEAD Rising - $14.98. 360 XMen $9.98
DS Nemo - $9.99
Last one of each...

Just a reminder and echoing the typical sentiment throughout this thread - please let us know which store you're finding deals in. There seem to be a lot of people striking out at their local stores, and I'm sure there's at least a few of us that don't mind driving to one in the area if there's deals to be had.
