Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

Keep it on topic or your post may be deleted to prune down the thread size.
Believe me, I was just as shocked to see it there. The ironic thing is I was talking to a friend on the way over, telling him I had just received part 2 in from a trade here and that 3 was the one I really needed to find now. ;)

They also had some Neopets PS2 game for $10. I don't know anything about it, but it looked kinda interesting from the back so I figure if it drops to around $5 I may pick it up. They usually drop prices on Sunday, right?
Monday for video games. Neopets is a fairly popular trading card game/anime like Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon. I don't know anything about the game though.

Thanks, you saved me a trip tomorrow - and I really don't want to go anywhere tomorrow anyway. ;)

Picked up a $7.48 Gunpey DS today. Passed on a $4.98 True Crime Streets of NY (XBOX) and some sub ten dollar Lizzy Mcguire GBA game. All of the Tony Hawk Skateboard bundles and Zelda Replica bundles there were plentiful the last week I went there are now long gone.
Wow, that's an old game for a Target to still have on the shelves.
Hah - I got that beat. I was looking through the Player's Choice/Greatest Hits endcap for hidden clearance games and I found an unmarked GC Sega NBA 2K2. It rang up $3.74. I don't know why the hell I did it, but I bought it. It was the collector in me I suppose . Extreme YMMV on that super-rare title!

It shocked the hell out of me that it even rang up with a price though - I figured it would be out of the system. They must have found it under some crates in the back room and just added it for sale at that store (wierd it wasn't tagged though).

On a sad note, the Target with all the Zelda CE's at $19.98 just a few days ago was completely clear of them today. They sat there untouched for 2 or 3 days, at least (if not a week or more), at that price (think I was last there Tues or Weds). So either they just got rid of them all, or they marked them down to $10.xx mid-week and they all got purchased (none of the games were marked down any further than last time I was there so it would be odd if those dropped - wish I had my UPC printout though). I did find one Target with a case full of the Tony Hawk board sets for $22.xx. I didn't buy one of those - what the hell am I going to do with that board?

And I thought someone mentioned Animal Crossing for the DS here too - but I keyed in the DCPI from their shelf tag and it came up $34.99. I did find some more One Piece for GC though. So the PS2 version is marked down as well? I had been getting those for $5 at Best Buy with the $5 off coupon (they are in the $9.99 impulse buy racks by the registers, near the candy ;)).

Rictor: Haven't seen any of those guitars available at any Targets at any point. Though it seems the bigger/newer Targets are more likely to have carried them as the older ones are pretty sparse in their instruments.

Also, have you seen any of the Tony Hawk boards in town go down to $22? It seems they only went as low as $44 and then they just disappeared. There were still a bunch left at the Nora location, but they never went lower than $44 and then just vanished.

It seems like all those Zelda sword/shields have been disappearing from Targets all over the country. For example, the one near me had 10 on last Sunday afternoon priced at $19.98 each. When I went back on Monday around noon they were all gone. My guess is they probably were sent to Goodwill because I just don't see them selling that fast at $10 each.

found a bunch of stuff yesterday at another target.

we love katamari - $7.48
conker - $4.98
donkey konga 2 - $4.98!!!!!!!!
one piece pirates carnival - $4.98

also saw but didnt pick up

endler scrolls III players choice - $4.98
genji - $9.98
gunpey ds - $7.48
zookey ds - $7.48

thats about the only noteworthy games i saw. they also had about 50+ copies of tony hawk pro skater 4 for $4.98.

If anyone finds one of the Squier Hello Kitty guitars in the Metro Detroit area, heck... southeast Michigan and even Toledo, OH... let me know. My girlfriend has been eyeing it.

You'd be surprised how many ebayers wait until Monday (electronics markdown) and buy them all first thing in the morning.

I always see them. They'll usually scoop up every copy of whichever clearance games would go for a few dollars more on eBay. That's why Target is usually not worth the trip for me.

Here in LA I went around to a bunch of different Targets on Tuesday looking for the Zelda set, and in almost every store, the workers told me that just earlier some guy bought up every single one. I made a vow to kick that guy's ass if I caught him in the act. Goddamn hoarders.

What's the best way to find out what items have been marked down?
What's the best way to find out what items have been marked down?
Scan them? Most targets around me have tons of scanners around the store.

Fire Emblem The Sacred Stones - $7.48

I was going to pick up Conker for $4.98, but both copies I saw last time were gone :(

We Love Katamari was still $14 something as well, but there were 3-4 copies.
Scan them? Most targets around me have tons of scanners around the store.
I know you can scan them. I just wasn't sure if there was a for sure list.

i've been to at least 12 different targets from woodhaven to brighton and havent seen a star wars episode III (ds) on clearance. They're all still regular price.

The Garden Grove Target on Brookhurst and the 22 Freeway had a pile of the Tony Hawk w/board for 22.48. They had about 15 - 20 still left. not much else.

Isn't it only the GBA version that's on clearance?
Isn't it only the GBA version that's on clearance?
The Xbox version is on sale for $4.98, I picked that up last week. Dunno about the GBA version, I know GBA SW Lego (the first one) is on sale but other than that you got me.

Everything sweeped clean here in Columbia, MD. I knew I should've bought the EyeToy when I saw it a few weeks earlier...

No, I haven't seen it for $22 yet and it is gone from most stores I've been to, either sold or sent away. I haven't been out in around 4 days...painting my basement and office...but I'm sure I'll make it to a few stores sometime this week.

I returned my Zelda's collector for $40 and they won't let me buy it back! Checked the clearance sales next day and it wasn't there, perhaps someone bought it or they salvaged it! Pretty unlogical of them, they could've just handed me the product and ring me up again.

Target and K-Mart will not let you return and repurchase the same clearance merchandise such that you can benefit the lower price. However, they will let you return it, and have you go in and fetch another copy to buy at the regular checkout lanes.

When I tried to return and buy back they tried to do the same thing. The girl also commented at the time that it would likely be multiple days before they bothered retagging it and putting it back out. As a result I just bought another sword/shield and returned it w/ the original receipt.

I picked up one of the Tony Hawk Skateboard bundles for $22.54 yesterday. I was actually going to pass on it, but mrs. shipwreck told me that the skateboard would look nice in the finished basement of our next house.
XBOX 360 steering wheel $17
That's the Mad Catz branded one, so people aren't confused. (I'm assuming it is anyway, since that's the one I've seen clearanced NOT the official MS wireless wheel.)

I thought it was a joke anyways.
harvest moon - a wonderful life (gamecube) - 9.98

dance dance revolution extreme (ps2) - 19.98
I'm guessing that DDR is game only?

I'll reiterate what may have already been said...

IF YOU SEE TONY HAWK DECKS OR ZELDA SHIELDS, BUY THEM!

Don't wait for them to drop any farther, if they haven't already been sent off/salvaged, they should be any time now. I had 9 decks and 6 shields in my store, waiting for them to drop to $22 and $10, then they got sent off before hitting 75%. Going through this thread it seems the same for many others. If you seem these and have the money GET THEM WHILE YOU CAN.

Target in Rossford OH had about 7 or 8 Tony Hawk decks for $22.54

Sadly there were no Zelda shields left.

They also had 1 Apple Ipod Hi Fi speaker for about 90 bucks. It may have already been opened.

There was also a single Game Boy micro for about 40 bucks. It too may have been opened.

...so, no drops this week? Or is it too early to be sure? There are a ton of 50% games I'm waiting on 75% for... And the Xbox Live kits ($59.99 marked to $41.98) - anyone seen those cheaper?
And the Xbox Live kits ($59.99 marked to $41.98) - anyone seen those cheaper?
We saw one in the $30's last week, but the card had been stolen, and the other codes had already been redeemed.

I saw 2 of the TH deck/game combos at lunch today. They were still marked $44.xx, but when I scanned them they came up not found. I asked someone working in electronics if she would scan it & double-check the price with her scan gun. She did, looked at the gun funny, and goes "uhhh...$44.xx (whatever the sticker said)." She didn't see the sticker when I asked her to scan it (I had it turned sticker-down, barcode-up) but she may have already known.

Anyway, since I wasn't interested in it that much, I put it back on the shelf. And she immediately came behind them, pulled them both & threw them in the buggy where she was working. So I'm guessing no %75 off for those. ;)

I may check my Goodwill in a week or so - how long does it usually take for stuff to show up there after it leaves Target?

hmm, possibly dumb question but.......any chance baten kaitos will drop below $10?
because I saw a copy at a target near me a couple of days ago but I dont have a gamecube and it's not worth it for 10...

Yes, $9.98 is the 50% off price for it so it will drop to $4.98 probably this week but it could sell out before then at your local Target. It's also $5.20 at TRU if your TRU still has any left (which is probably unlikely)
We saw one in the $30's last week, but the card had been stolen, and the other codes had already been redeemed.
D'oh! How did you know the codes had been redeemed? I bought one last week (for $42) but the box is a bit beat up. It still appears to be sealed, though (with a round, clear sticker). I'd feel better if it was shrink-wrapped. Oh well, I guess with Target's return policy if it turns out to be pilfered I should be able to get my money back. I was hoping to find another cheaper though before I opened this one.

Don't know about lately but last August i picked up a 12 month Xbox Live kit for $12.48 from my local Target.

Heh, we bought it on the off-chance that they would still work ^^

This one was visibly open though. The sticker was gone, and pieces of the box were torn away. It also didn't have the clearance sticker on it, it had a print-out slip, and the cashier had to enter it manually.

We returned it in hopes that we could exchange for another one of them, but that Target was all out of the clearance ones. After that it was more trouble than it was worth, so we just got our money back.
