Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

Keep it on topic or your post may be deleted to prune down the thread size.

i want to check targets in my area but i have a question

where do you guys go to find the clearance items? is there a bin near the electronics department or something? where do i go to look in the store?

thanks!

Sonic Rush is not on clearence at Target. If you ever have a question about a game being on clearence you can always take it to a price scanner, or if its in the case obviously you need an employee to check it out for you.

By the way, always do price scans yourself w/ games sitting out, I had an employee tell me a game was $20 when it rang up as less.

GBA

Board Game Classics $2.48
Golden Nugget Casino $3.24

Look in the DVD section for DVD's with big "as is" stickers. I got Inuyasha The Movie 4 for $2.46 [last one, typically these "As is" media are always the last one of something target will never carry again]

are all of these clearance games in the glass cases at target or are they in a special place marked clearance? thanks

I stopped by a Target I hadn't checked out in awhile today. There wasn't a ton to be had, but I did pick up Viewtiful Joe DS for $4.9x. There were probably four more there as well.

Clearance games should usually be placed in a special marked location, e.g. an endcap with a big CLEARANCE sign over it, but recently my local Targets have been placing a lot of clearance items back in the glass display. I'm not sure why that is, especially since it seems like more trouble than it's worth to remove the red clearance stickers. You'll just have to do a bit of searching to find the games you want.

ok thanks. btw are these endcaps in the videogame section or can they be anywhere in the store? if the games are in the glass case would they be marked clearance?

yeah I hate that shit, they look at you like 'the games marked what it is.......................'.. happened with me with half life 2 at kmart, said 50, and the guy was like naw thats the price, it is.. so I got someone else to scan it and it was 2 bucks :[

I went to 3 Targets today and they still have quite a few copies of Viewtiful Joe DS. It is not in the game or the clearance area. It's in the front of the store. There is a bunch of GBA and DS titles for 14.99. But if you scan VJ it comes up at 4.98. Scanned at all 3 stores and all came up at that price.

I was going to buy this last Friday but held off because it was stickered at $14.99 and but decided not to. If it is at $4.98 then I'm going back later this week.

I found Viewtiful Joe DS in the glass case. The game was marked $19.99, but the price label beneath the game said $4.98. I had the cashier ring it up and it came up for $4.98. I guess I am just confirming that I also got it for that price!

I took a copy of RWG to an aisle scanner this morning and it still came up as $24.xx. I guess the drop to $12.xx will be next week in my area (in Houston, TX btw).
Still $14.99 at my target (Greenbelt, MD) as of yesterday.
I'll try again in a couple days I guess...
Check it again. This is the new price point (it's not a clearance) at all Target's, now. They're actually in large groups with the rest of the cheapy DS titles. Every Target I've been in had at least ten or fifteen of them, all priced the same. When I asked one one of my friends who works there, he said that was merely the new price point on the game, and that it's not part of a clearance.

Damn the Target closest to me rarely has any of these great deals. Ran by there this morning but they only had a couple games red tagged. I picked up Advance Wars Dual Strike for $4.98. Only other things there was a copy of MLB 05' for $7.98 (PS2), Starfox Assult (GC) for $4.98, an a couple copies of some Spongebob game (GC) for $4.98.

That's Target for you, TX and other states seem to be 2 weeks behind the rest on clearance markdowns (assuming it's a statewide thing and not just the stores in my city).
There's one copy of RWG at my Target stickered at $12.xx. I just looked at it an hour ago.

Are any of the Ratchet games on clearance?
I haven't seen them for any cheaper than $16.00 ($19.99 Greatest Hits titles but I think Target is having a sale on them at the momoent).

I don't have an account but if I find any of those Xbox live kits I'd be happy to pass them along to my fellow CAGers for cost + shipping.

I went in today and saw that many games were missing from their cases, and I was wondering if it meant that there would be new clearance titles soon.
ok thanks. btw are these endcaps in the videogame section or can they be anywhere in the store? if the games are in the glass case would they be marked clearance?
Each department has its own clearance section. Video games are in the electronics department so you'd have to search within that area for the clearance video games. In my personal experience, when clearance games still remain in the glass case, they aren't marked as clearance. But I'm not sure how Targets in other regions operate.

I notice another CAG saying that clearance games may be put up front near the checkout lines. You may want to check that area of the store, too.

When I was at my Target this morning I noticed they were getting ready to setup an endcap full of video games near the checkout. I didn't have time to stick around and see if they were clearance or not. I might have to go back tomorrow.
Sucks at my target Viewtiful Joe was marked at $20 dollars.
You should have gotten it scanned, it probably wasn't tagged right

Did find 'Spyro: Orange - The Cortex Conspiracy' GBA for $3.74 - but that's about it, pretty slim pickings at my local Targets as of late...

Picked up warioware touched! for 8.XX, Metroid Prime 2 for 4.XX and Fire Emblem for 7.XX. I'm quite happy with my haul, makes up for not having a Toys R Us in my town I guess.
Are any of the Ratchet games on clearance?
I got the original Ratchet game for $10.00 on clearance at Target a while ago, but it was the only copy of the game they had left at that point. The second one I got for $10.00 at CC.

hi fellow CAG's,

just wanted everyone's opinion on fire emblem: the sacred stones for the GBA it seems to have gotten good reviews all around and this would be my first fire emblem game to play. Haven't really played any strategy RPG's before it, would it be hard to get into?

thanks

It's pretty easy to get into. The first couple of missions explain how everything works. I love the Fire Emblem series and FE:SS is really good.

Zelda Wii Sling Bag $9.98 1 left in Fresno CA (Blackstone/Bullard location)

I thought about picking it up but my Wii will probably never leave my house, so I'd rather spend it on something else :)
Sucks at my target Viewtiful Joe was marked at $20 dollars.
I saw a bunch of these (Viewtiful Joe Double Trouble for the DS, that is, just to be clear) in the case at my local Target that weren't there a few days ago. I had the guy get one out - it scanned $14.99! WTF? That's not clearancy at all. I'm guessing that the ones people see clearanced out are the endcap copies that were around for Christmas. Now they have gotten "new" copies, and are selling them for $14.99 from now on. I would suspect that most people will start seeing this price sooner or later. I don't believe they had new UPC stickers or anything either - that's just what they are when the new shipment comes in. Since this store never had them to clearance there was never a conflict.

I did pick up a Real World Golf for $12.xx so it wasn't a total waste of time. I also noticed (using the floor scanner) that the Xbox Live kit I successfully price adjusted just a few days ago from $41.98 to $29.98 was now $14.98 :bomb:. If only I had waited a few days. Oh well, I suppose I can try it again.

Other than that, it appears they wiped all the clearance games out of the endcaps as they had several sports games and things like Genji on Friday and they were all gone today (yet prices were the same according to the scanners). Must have salvaged them though. I hate target sometimes ;).

I got Dark Messiah of Might and Magic for 12 bucks tonight. My store still has about 15 or so. For that price, it should be quite worth it considering its got well reviewed multiplayer.

W00t.

I didn't see this, but I did notice that the one new heap of clearance stuff was for the PC. Not even games, mostly, but miscellanous software (MP3 Maker, stuff like that). So anyone looking for PC clearance stuff might want to see what's up this week at their Target.

After told it was $79.99, I finally got Real World Golf for $12.48. The Hackensack, NJ store still has one and Clifton, NJ had 2 last time I was there. Now I can't wait to play it and find out that I absolutely hate it.

OK, I went to Target again and I can also confirm RWG is now $12.4x at my local Super Target as well.

Picked up an extra but noticed the shrink has a rip so I'll probably return it since most here wouldn't want anything like that.

Stopped by my Target on the way home after seeing them working on a register display yesterday. Sure enough one of the endcaps by the registers had GBA and DS games but they weren't really discounted. Most were $14.99 to $19.99. I checked the clearance rack in electronics today. They had one of those Zelda Wii backpacks on sale for $9.98. They had a few copies of Doom 3 for the Xbox marked $4.98 and a crapload of other miscellaneous junk. Over in another isle I found a lone copy of Viewtiful Joe DS. I scanned it out of curiosity and it priced out at $14.99!

The Viewtiful Joes at my Target were also $15, but I did luck out by finding Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls for $7.50, which is pretty badass considering I just got myself a DS. w00t.

Damnit!! I went to my local Target on Thursday night and they had about 10 copies of Viewtiful Joe DS for $4.xx, but didn't buy it...today I bought it along with other stuff and I just noticed that I paid $14.99:bomb: for it...fuck! I'll return it tomorrow...

If I go to Target seeking bargains, I end up with squat. Tonight, dear wife sent me on an emergency cold medicine run, and I scored:

Prey (PC) - $12.48
