Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

Keep it on topic or your post may be deleted to prune down the thread size.
chicken little - 19.98
I would like to try this game, but I'd really like to wait for 75% -- $10.

Here are some prices I saw this morning:

Wii Chicken Little 9.98
Wii 4x4 Monster World Circuit with Racing Wheel 24.98
DS Super Mario 64 DS 7.48
DS Soduko 4.98

More prices seen:

:ds:
Mario 64 $15
Sims 2 $10

Looks like the Mario 64 depends on location. One Target I went to still had it at $30

Holy crap! Now if only they would START to put these on clearance at my Targets :bomb:... I'm going to give it a shot this week and see if they've even started. If not, I may ask someone to snag me one.

I didn't see anything marked as on clearance today either, but I think I may go back tomorrow as well for some scans. I'm starting to think they just aren't marking the video games that are on clearance anymore at my local store.

Oh, I'm definitely going with UPC's tomorrow. But none of them were on clearance just this last weekend, so I'm not hopeful. Even if they are on clearance, it will just be the first level, none of this Chicken Little for $9.98 stuff - I don't see how that could ever get so cheap with so many Wii's being sold and a lack of new games out. I'd think these would get snagged at the first sign of a clearance by hordes of parents. I was hoping to hide one for $9.98 though ;).

Chicken Little for 9.98? really?

I saw 2 copies of Chicken Little for $19.98, so i picked one up. Also picked up an Ant Bully for $14.98 - I know it's supposed to be terrible, but a Wii game for $15?

Barnyard, 4X4 Monster Racing thing with Wheel, and Billy & Mandy were all $24.98.

One Target also had the 360 clearance......here's what i remember

Pimp My Ride $24.98
Prey $14.98
Outfit $13.98
Kameo $14.98
Tomb Raider $14.98
Hitman $19.98
DOA4 $19.98
DOAX2 $27.98
Blitz $20.98 (?)
Far Cry $27.98 (?)

there might have been a few more......maybe a Poker game or something.....

I found NBA 06 PSP today for 3.48, It was the only game on the clearance rack. However I did find a copy of Viewtiful Joe DS on a end cap scanned and came up not in system didn't even try to get it.

I might have to scan Chicken Little. I stashed a copy along with Barnyard today and it had a $24.98 tag on it. Also if anyone can score copies of Blitz (360) and Monster 4x4 (Wii) I'd be willing to trade for them:D

I went to Target in another town yesterday and Kameo was $20.98.

Not a deal but this particular Target had a shitload of Resident Evil 4 PS2 with ORIGNAL cover. I thought the original cover has long gone shortly after it went GH.

how is monster 4x4 for the Wii? The site I usually trust for reviews (gamespot) gave it a 4. I love excite truck, but this seems to have far less depth than excite truck. any thoughts from fellow CAG's? I've been stashing a copy at my local target waiting for a drop to the sub $20 range.

Can someone help a noob. What do I have to do to find out if games are on clearance at Target. Can you tell me the steps. Do they have paper UPC's that you can take to a scanner or something?

Use a self scanner. They're everywhere.

If a game isn't clearly marked as being on clearance, you can:
a) just scan it at any of the price checking stations all over the store. If it's locked up in the glass case, you can always...
2) Bring your own UPC printout with you. Just search Google for UPC barcodes, somethin'll turn up. Not sure which games oughta be on clearance? In that case you should...
III) Check the Target Clearance Thread regularly. But you probably already know that ;)

Bear in mind, prices can be YMMV (Your Milage May Vary), because apparently individual Target stores can reduce clearance prices at different rates. So be sure to let us here on CAG know how you make out, it might be helpful to other CAGs in your area.

Now get out there and score some cheap games, soldier!

Didn't see it mentioned, but I may be blind or just lazy....
But, I saw the Wii Dogtags and Wii Metal Box with Magnets 1/2 off. Still a bit pricey for either one.

I've haven't thoroughly checked the thread so forgive me if these are repeats.

Wii Tin, Dogtags, non-Zelda sling bags all $12 and lower.
(there's also a new Zelda messenger bag, but its not clearanced)(

Lots of PSP accessories.

4gb hard drive....$150
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-PSP-4GB-...11?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1174417920&sr=1-2

JBL sound dock thing (really cool looking)...$99
http://www.amazon.com/JBL-Portable-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1174418072&sr=8-4

Other cheaper looking speaker mount things...$20-30ish.
Memory sticks

PS2 vertical stand...$12

All the prices are as best I can remember, so don't take them as gospel. All too high right now, but could be some good buys in the next few weeks.

Checked in at my local Target and found a bunch of new things on clearance (although not that many games).

They did have Warhammer Mark of Chaos (PC) for $34.98. It was still in the PC game section. I'll pick that up if it's still around at 75% off or so. They had one Viewtiful Joe for DS (strange, since I'm almost positive that they didn't have it before) but it scanned as out of the system. I didn't ask how much it was.

They had Wii sling bags for $12.98 (not the Zelda ones). I asked an employee to scan Chicken Little for Wii since people were reporting it clearanced, but it was ringing up at $39.99.

They also had some of the electronic items mentioned above (iPod speakers, Sony clock radios, etc) but no particularly attractive prices (yet).

Has anyone else noticed an influx of Gamecube bundles at Targets? I've seen Mario Kart and Mario Party bundles pop up at a few stores over the past week...

Note that you can also type the DCPI numbers in from the shelf tag into the floor scanners for those games locked in the case (if you don't have a paper UPC printout with you). That's what I've been doing. You just have to memorize the DCPI until you can get to the floor scanner (40-50 feet away usually, it seems). Or you could just bring a pen and a piece of paper (which I always forget) ;).

I could be wrong, but I think I read that the way the wiimote fits into the steering wheel makes it incompatible with most of the other Wii driving games. (I believe it fits in so that the face of the remote is facing you, while many driving games seem to want you to have the face of the remote facing up.) So I wouldn't count on using it with a lot of other games.

io: So did you get back out to Target again yet? Was anything in the case on clearance? I haven't had a chance to get out there again yet.

This is wrong. I don't know how this myth got started, but the left/right accelerometers in the Wii remote, by the very laws of physics, don't care if the buttons are facing you or if they're facing up.

Some games having you tilting the remote forward and backward as well as right and left (to control the angle of your vehicle while in the air, for example). I don't think those would work in the way they are intended if you were holding the remote that way. But again, I'm not positive.

I'm not sure, but isn't orientation of the wiimote important, which is at least part of the reason for the employment of forms in WarioWare?

Picked up Kameo for $7.98. My local Target had over 20 copies of this. last week they were $20.98. Is there any easy achievements with this game?
io: So did you get back out to Target again yet? Was anything in the case on clearance? I haven't had a chance to get out there again yet.
No, I was hoping to get out there tonight, but given that it is 8pm and I haven't had dinner yet it seems unlikely ;).
The closest Target is a 20 mile round trip so I can't pop over there quite as easily as I'd like to. Considering that I'm fully prepared to be disappointed I'm not looking forward to it. I expect all the "clearance" games to be full price still. Though probably they all got marked down yesterday and sold out today knowing my luck ;).

I'll try to get out tomorrow.

Picked up Sid Meier's Pirates for PC for $4.98 at the Waukesha, WI. Target! Good deal for a fun game IMO...

Also, this is my first post to this message board! I love this site so far and look forward to talking with you guys in the future! :bouncy:

So do Target Clearances vary by store now, it's been a while since I have followed this thread?

I went to price check dead rising for the 360, since a lot of people have been saying it's on clearance, but the upc code that I printed out scanned $59.99. Hopefully this hasn't been answered a million times so I don't end up being the guy that says "but the employeez sayz theres no clearance sale."

I believe that Target videogame clearances have always been on an individual store basis. I can't remember a time when they weren't.

I would have to agree that individual stores do individual prices. I got the Sid Meier's Pirates at one Target for $4.98...and saw it at others for $19.99.

I think it's just up to the manager. But keep an eye out for some good buys!

I saw Western Digital 160 GB hard drive, 8 MB cache, 7200 RPM for $45 at the Janesville, WI. store.
By the way is it the original Kameo that is on clearence or is it the Limited Edition?

Original. And by the way, someone asked me pick one up for them. So, I am going to pick up a few of them for anyone that wants one. I will sell them for $11, shipped.

WOW! I wish my Target had Kameo!!

And what LE of Kameo? I don't think there is a limited edition.. i'm 99.9% sure there isn't

Kameo is an underrated game imo. Fun to play through, deep if you go through all the side stuff, well worth $8 and worth the $16 I paid at Half Price Books five months ago.

Went back to Target planning to punch in some UPCs at the scanning stations but none of my local Targets have the keypads on theirs. The only thing now marked on clearance was the regular Wii sling bags and those were still about $18. They did have copies of Chicken Little AiA Wii, Super Mario 64 DS, Sims 2 DS, and GT Racer (I think I'm going to wait another week, I'm guessing 60% off is next week for most of this stuff).

I price-checked Super Mario 64 DS at my Target, and it's still $30. This is unlike Gunpey, for which I did the same thing and got the $7.50 price a few months ago. While that was a universal price reduction, Mario is definitely YMMV.
