Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to www.schworak.com/upc/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

When posting what you have found, please note the location that you found it at, example:

Philadelphia, PA
Snyder Plaza

Game Name, System, Price

AAAAARRRGGG!!!

Scanned my barcodes and 3 games came up at prices I wanted. So I went to my stashed pile of games... and they were gone.

Dammit.

Holy carp, someone who actually visits a Target in my time zone! I might have to see if they still have this one, I demo'ed FF and it was pretty cool. [I work about seven minutes away from this Target.]

At my Target in Woodland Hills CA they had a few kiddy oriented GBA games for 14.99 BUT they also had Metroid Fusion!
Check out the GBA games if you have em at your Target, you might find some buys!

Where: Aventura Target (Miami)
PSONE LCD Combo has finally dropped to $74.98 - as of 3-4-04 they still have 2 units left.

Also, there were 3-5 copies of (GC) MegaMan Network left for $6.48 and a whole lot of (GC) Harry Potter "Chamber of Secrets" in case anybody is looking for these games around the Miami area.

DoA:: The North Attelboro Target never has anything good.. Except thats where I found Amplitude for like $4.98 once. The target in smithfield (where my KB is) has been pretty good lately.

The Valencia Target had Alien vs. Predator: Extinction for the Xbox for 14.98. There was only one copy so I hid it just in case anyone here wants it.

If anyone sees SOCOM (with headset) for cheap at their Target, I'd be interested in working out a way with him or her to obtain it.

Picked up two Arc the Lads for 7.48, Kya for 6.48, Metal Gear Solid for XBOX for 7.48 and Bloodrayne for XBOX for 7.48. I'm interested in trading one of my Arc the Lads for ESPN Hockey. Let me know!

I went to Target last night (Potomac Yards in NoVA). They had Batman Dark Tomorrow for GC and Enclave for XBox. Both were not in the scanner. So I went to the CS counter and asked them. WARNING: Never go to the CS counter to ask. The woman behind there took the games, ran off somewhere (probably to the mgr on duty) and came back with some arbitrary price for the two (both $15.99 a piece), which I know is BS. They probably gunned at $3 or something but the mgr made some crazy price up. The funny thing was is that Enclave had the $12.99 Target corner sticker on it. I told her I'd think about it and I had more shopping to do (was going to ask someone with a gun) but she told me that she had to hold the games there and I had to pay for them there. I left. I can't believe some of the stuff they pull there.

I picked up the following games at the Target in Aventura FL.

PS2: ESPN NHL Hockey $6.58
Xbox: Hulk $7.48
GameCube: 4x4 EVO 2 $3.24
The Scorpion King $3.24
Megaman Network Transmission $6.58
PS One Combo $74.98

There were a bunch of other clearance games for very cheap but after finding this thread I can't justify spending more than $10 for a game at target. Besides these other games weren't that good.

Has anyone seen Time Splitters 2 on clearance? Do you think that game is old enough to warrant clearance? should I make the haul to target to check?

thanks!

What I do is take as many of those old games that I can find and scan them to check the prices.
As long as they are out of the case you can take them out of the electronics department. Using this method I've been able to find a lot of great deals.

Which version? I know the Xbox version was long clearnced off 4-5 months back, and the cube version about 2-3 months back.

Just ask for a price check.

Starsky and Hutch, Wolfenstein, and Auto modellista (ps2) rang up for $0.00 tonight, but the damn clerk refused to "sell" them to me, said it was a computer error. (probably was)

I had to leave empty handed, but they're still in the GH bin if anyone else wants to give it a try.

Same thing happened to me today with 4 of the games that I had bought. Instead of letting them ring it up and tell you the they can't sell the gamesm, have someone with a price gun scan it for you and tell the cashier the last price that was on the system.

If the games come up at 0 dollars I would try bringing something else cheap up to a register with a gullible looking or very busy employee. Chances are they will ring it all up, give you the total, and let you go like a robot. Just speculating.

Has anyone found any deals in the Target stores in the Daly City/Colma area? I'm going tomorrow, but I just wanted to know of any deals I can look forward to.
*sigh* Oregon sucks. None of the Target deals are ever at any of the stores here. =\
Sorry I guess it was me that hit the Oregon Targets first.

I checked the Mall 205 and Clackamas Promenade Target stores in Portland a couple weeks ago. I found some clearanced PSX deals at the Mall 205 store (nothing too amazing, a bunch of copies of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for $14.99, and 1 copy of Driver 2 GH for $12, which I assume is gone now) and nothing at the Clackamas store. So I'm assuming that there's still nothing special. I'll check again soon though, since I try to look everywhere for deals, and also, I'm in the Mall 205 and Clackamas area every now and then.

Out of curiosity, did you find anything? I'm wondering if we ever had any of those deals here.
Probably and old clearenced title, but Mafia found Chaos Legion for $10.xx.
Both for PS2, right? Where did you find them?

Quick question. Theres finally going to be a target opening up near me towards the end of the summer. Will they carry any of these clearance games or would I have to wait until the games they have in stock to go on clearance? If so that would really suck.

You'd probably have to wait.

Just came from Target on Jones Rd (Houston, TX) and the clearance racks had about 10,000 copies of "Bowling" and a bunch of PC games. That was it. I saw a non-PC Luigi's Mansion for 16.88 (not in the clearance rack though) and bought it in the blink of an eye. They had a lot of non-PC Metroids too. They were still $30 though.

Don't know if this has been discussed, but one of my local Targets actually RAISED the price of a clearance game. I picked up Fuzion Frenzy for a buddy a few weeks ago for $5. Was back in that same Target yesterday and gave FF a scan along with a bunch of other games I was checking and much to my surprise it was back up to $20!? Does this happen a lot with Target clearance items? I was pretty surprised.

Crash's Huge Adventure for GBA was $4.98 at my Target (last summer). This weekend, it was $14.99. I guess it happens more frequently than you think. Also Blinx was $4.98, now it's $19.99 (I know it's still cheap at some Targets). It's all YMMV.

It wont be a rush of clearance games, but that does start very soon after a store opens up. Some games in thier plan-o-gram will be clearance almsot the day they open up, thier stores evolve so much there's always clearance

This has to do with the fact that it is not the GAME TITLE that is clearanced, but rather the SKU associated with the product on the shelf space.

Target does not view games by "title," but as a "product on its shelf with a limited lifespan." If the lifespan of a product is exceeded, the product goes to clearance. When the next shipment of stock comes in, it is possible the buyers have purchased new stock of an already clearanced item. As the sale of the item is not based on the actually name of the item, but rather its existence relative to its shelfspace and how long it has been there, it goes up as a new item at the price assigned by the buyers, in this case the full price.

Same thing happens in the toy section occasionally.

donssword, so you're saying that when/if they get in a new shipment it basically resets the products lifespan time to 0?

I think the main reason the price went to $20 is that the game was made a Platinum Hits tilte.
As a couple of my Targets have the game in the new platinum cases.

I just picked up a copy of Command & Conquer: Red Strike which is Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge (expansion) for $7.48 @ the Target in Potomac Yard Shopping Center in Alexandria VA. It may have been the last copy but I noticed it wasn't on the correct shelf. I found it next to the clearance console games whereas the PC clearance games are in a different part of the store. (Of course I didn't bother to check that part of the store.) The clearance tag on the box says $10.48 but I scanned it just for the heck of it and it was 3 dollars less! YMMV.

yup. Just recently(at two targets) saw a crapload of neverwinter nights titles that werent there a couple weeks ago. Seems like they caught on that it was 7.84 at one point and hid em.

Yeah, I got the last copy of Neverwinter Nights in the clearance section for $7.48. (Pinole, Bay Area, CA) Also picked up a Zelda Collectors Disk for $0.01.
hitman 12.48 for gamecube
and slightly game related. Heroclix 6-figure booster packs 3.50
Do you happen to remember what type of heroclix? Marvel/dc and which expansion?

i know this may be a stupid question...but does this barcode trick/thing work with other stores that have games locked up in a glass case such as:
k-mart and wal-mart? thanks
