I wish I had belts like those.... either one would work. Just need something to hold my pants up :D
When my cousin was younger he had some replica belts... anyway, the point to the story is my brother asked him if he ever put his belts on and pranced around the house naked on Saturday mornings for the family's amusement, and he said yes :whistle2:s

I wonder whatever happened to those belts?

Speaking of Amazon, the price for the Benoit DVD has gone through the roof. DeepdiscountDVD and a variety of other online dvd retailers have followed WWE Shopzone in pulling the DVD.

I wonder what's going to happen to the stock of extra copies? WWE probably has someone putting them on ebay, selling them for the ridiculous profit.

Those suckers were $4 at walmart earlier this year, and $11 on clearance off WWE.com when they were pulled.

A very good DVD, regardless of how weird it would be to watch now. I plan on keeping my copy, at least at the moment.

I just pirated the tribute show.

It's like a cut down version of Hard Knocks.

moved from the Benoit topic, to stay the course in the right spot.
Big Show gets a lot of undeserved crap anyway IMO.

I'll say this about Jericho or any other wrestler, when you get out, stay out if you can becasue that lifestyle can't be healthy. I swear Flair is going to drop dead in the ring.
Show really does. When I met him (this is a separate incident a year or so before meeting Jericho), I had an autograph sheet and pen, but Show was eating so I didn't want to bother him, just wanted to say hello to say that I met TBS. He said it was no problem though and signed anyway. I think he gets that undeserved crap simply because he doesn't take crap from authority.

As for Flair, I'm pretty sure that's the only way he'd ever have it.

I am looking forward to tommorrow. Headed down to Orlando to catch the Impact tapings and to chill around at Isles of Adventures, Bought the two year pass while it was on special so I can go to Victory Road + others tapings without spending $60+ for park passes each time we go to TNA. I think I am going to a lot of TNA events in the future......especially if RVD/Sabu sign with them in the next 6 months. Btw, if anyone in FL is interested in hanging out with us at the tapings just send me a pm.

I bet if RVD/Sabu/Y2J all signed with TNA... ratings would rise to almost WWE-like levels. :bouncy:

Personally I'm hoping that TNA gets that deal with Fox. Even if TNA ends up on FX they'll get far better promotion than Spike is giving them right now.
Did anybody else watch the ROH PPV tonight? I only saw the last hour (so far) but it was a good first impression.
I don't get to watch it until July 20th.
I don't get to watch it until July 20th.
I'll give some more (spoiler-free) thoughts on it after I've watched the first hour, although I did hear the Brisco Bros. match was particularly good.

I've heard the same thing before when they brought in Sting/Christian/Angle.

You think so? Spike actually airs TNA commercials every now and then... Not that I watch much on Spike besides COPS and TNA.
I've heard the same thing before when they brought in Sting/Christian/Angle.
Yeah I guess you're right... I seem recall temporary rating boosts... but obviously nothing lasting. Still, the ratings HAVE risen on a whole since the shows inception (natural?).
You think so? Spike actually airs TNA commercials every now and then... Not that I watch much on Spike besides COPS and TNA.
Well you would think since Spike is owned by Viacom they would at least run an ad here and there on their other networks like CBS. At least with Fox they if Impact ends up on FX they would most likely run ads on Fox during NFL games. Hell if they end up on Fox then Fox can say they are the home of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling during their "you are watching Fox Sports" bumper at the end of live sport broadcasts.

I miss the Fox Sports ticker or whatever it was called during Impact on FSN. It was cool having a graphic displaying the competitors in the matches, along with the time limit.

When did this happen to Jericho? :whistle2:k
When did this happen to Jericho? :whistle2:k
When you broke his heart...

In other news, buy the ROH PPV. It's a good, impressive wrestling event with some of the most talented wrestling in the world. It's cheaper than dirt, especially compared to PPV from the other big two companies, and everyone should really give it a go.

They've restarted all the storylines for newcomers and it would be a tragedy for a company like ROH to get to this level and fail because people only want to watch the WWE since that's all they're used to seeing.

The only guy that with a chance that could raise TNA viewership dramatically is The Rock, because he has the most mainstream appeal. Even, then I don't know.

After seeing the preview for his newest movie, he's looking very deflated and old - not to say that he still couldn't go and draw though.

One of the things I thought about after all the Benoit stuff is how smart (or lucky) The Rock is for getting out and staying out.

Yep.

According to NoDQ.com, Matt Sydal and Ricky Banderas are expected to be at the TNA tapings tonight. There's talk of Sydal getting a full-time job with TNA, effectively ending his run with ROH and PWG. However, he's still under contract to WSX.

I would love to see that. I was introduced to him thanks to WSX, and was very impress with his in-ring ability.

P.S. Is there any word of WSX making a comeback? If so they really need to ditch MTV and go with a network that won't screw them over.

PWInsider Audio update on TNA on FOX -
Dixie Carter is now in Los Angeles negotiating with FOX for a deal that would begin in the Fall. She will not be at the TV tapings tonight.

This is not for My Network TV, and it is not for the Fox Sports Network.

This deal would have TNA taping 2-4 hours of programming per week, and would have TNA programming on more than one FOX owned network.
So... FOX and FX would seem to be the networks that TNA could potentially air on...Fantastic news.

I'm glad that this didn't turn out to be MyNetwork TV... as I have no clue what the shit that is.

it is the channel UPN used to be on.
Why, it's the "Randy Savage Elbow Of Life". Or "Macho Man CPR".
Lots of news today -
Lots of news today -
--If the revelation that Chris Benoit was getting ten months worth of steroids every three to four weeks from Dr. Phil Astin is accurate, it is beyond devastating for WWE. U.S. attorney David Nahmias reported that on average, Benoit was getting a ten month supply of steroids every three to four week during a period from May 4, 2006, and May 9, 2007, from Dr. Astin. The April 10, 2007, drug test that Benoit passed was right in the middle of that period, which is why this charge is the most devastating to the company since the deaths themselves.

Whether fair or not, to the public, it is a complete credibility loss when it comes to the drug policy that the company can't afford at this time. And quite frankly, since Benoit was regularly tested during this entire one year period, it is impossible to have confidence in the drug policy with the release of this information. Benoit was off for several months in 2006 and likely not tested during this period, but he should have been tested at least four times minimum during a period it would appear he was taking heavy doses of steroids. As noted in this week's issue, he and his wife were arguing over his increased use of steroids at the same time he was subject to a drug testing policy.

The announcement that Benoit passed his 4/10 steroid test, even if he did, is one that can't hold up to public opinion with the revelation in this indictment, because it covers a period well into the Wellness policy. A key point of this is unlike with Balco, where they were using designer drugs that could beat the tests, Astin was prescribing Benoit regular steroids, so either the testing is incredibly flawed, Benoit had a way to easily beat the tests, or the tests themselves were a sham. I strongly believe the latter is not the case, but I also believe the latter will be the conclusion most will come to. This is the first time when I truly fear that wrestling as we know it not only will be undergoing great changes, but that as bad as Vince McMahon's reputation is in some circles, and even with his history of rebounding from negatives, this will tarnish it to a level that he may never live to fully turn around. There will be a far increased number of cries in the media over the next week, which have already started, to do something about the industry. Between the advertisers, sponsors, and those action figures with the muscular physiques, this is not a story going away soon.

--Astin was indicted on seven federal counts of distributing painkillers in an illegal manner, as in for reasons other than the treatment of disease. The names of people he is accused of doing this with were not released. It is not known whether any of the people named in the sealed indictment are pro wrestlers, but it is known Chris Benoit is not one of them. The raid of Astin's office included looking at medical records to see if he was appropriately prescribing steroids to Benoit. The indictment regarded prescribing drugs like percoset, vidoprofen, xanax, lorcet and adderall to men with initials M.J. and O.G.

--Prosecutors are seeking forfeiture of all property and proceeds Astin obtained through his conduct if he is convicted.

--Prosecutor Scott Ballard of Fayette County stated he currently has no plans on filing any charges against anyone involved in the case.

--In the second raid of Dr Astin's office, Federal agents removed huge amounts of material including filled up boxes, computer and entire file cabinets.

--WWE told Newsday today that it will make any improvements necessary in its Wellness policy, but didn't give any details. The company today said its policy is one of the most aggressive in sports and that it is unique for an entertainment company. They said the policy sends a clear message the company finds the abuse of drugs and steroids to be unacceptable. However, based on who they push, one could say there are more than just mixed messages out there.

--Even worse for WWE, Ballard said there are reports that contradict the information Daniel Benoit was suffering from Fragile X syndrome. Ballard said a source with access to Daniel's medical records shows no mention of any mental or physical impairment. Reports from his teacher also contradicted the claim, saying he was prepared this year to go into first grade on par with the other students in his class.

--Konnan and Alex Marvez both appear on Nancy Grace tonight. As most of you know, Konnan is facing a kidney transplant that is likely related to steroids later this week.

--Among the stories in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution at www.ajc.om is one on "One great wrestler ruins fans' memories." There are plenty of other new stories regarding the indictment.

--Jimmy Ivey at the Weatherford, TX Democrat at www.weatherforddemocrat.com/sports/ did a story on deaths in wrestling, noting that in the sports world, this Benoit story "marks the end of a delusion." Basically, he said that it would prove not only that steroids can lead to damage to others, and kills the "personal choice" part of the argument and also the argument in baseball that the most important thing is that it ruins the record books in sports, as opposed to playing down the long-term health risks aspect.

--At www.northstarwrtiers.com/ss049.htm there is a story on whether Benoit's death will lead to changes in wrestling with the author saying he doesn't bet on it, because things hadn't changed up to this point in time.

--CNBC had a story at www.cnbc.com/id/19547416 noted WWE's attempt to eliminate all references to Benoit off the web site.

--The Winnipeg Sun ran a story at www.winnipegsun.com/News/World/2007/07/02/4306229-sun.html regarding the flaws in the steroid program because 10:1 is a failure and not 4:1. The program itself was designed by Dr. David Black, who also oversees the NFL program and the T/E ratio is different from the first WWE policy which was 6:1, but that was by design of the doctor, where they call into question everyone above 4:1.

--Ballard said they have looked into the possibility of it being a triple murder or anything other than the murder-murder suicide but have found no evidence to suggest it's anything other than what it is believed to be. He said it's irresponsible not to consider anything, but all the evidence leads in the same direction.

--There is an article at www.sportsline.com/print/mmaboxing/story/10243354 by Zach Arnold bringing up steroids in sports, media coverage, and asking the media why they never paid attention as wrestlers have continued to die at a high frequency. This is an awesome article, including quotes from Keith Kizer of the Nevada State Athletic commission who said the commission has no intention of regulating pro wrestling. Ironically, wrestling just got dropped from regulation in Nevada a few weeks ago, which Kizer had pushed for on the grounds that it isn't a sport. Nick Lembo of the New Jersey Athletic Control Board said he thinks pro wrestling should be re-regulated in New Jersey, which years back stopped. "I think the health of safety of the competitor should always be a regulator's first concern. I am in favor of regulation. From pro wrestlers that I have spoken to, I have been told that the use of painkillers and performance-enhancing drugs is rampant. It is also commonplace (for wrestlers) to continue to wrestle while suffering from injures." He also noted wrestlers have told them about using insulin (which bodybuilders use in power drug stacks, often with GH). He said due to the injury rate and death rate that it is in the best interest of wrestling to be regulated. Sheldon Goldberg, a small independent promoter, argued against regulation saying it would kill the independent scene if they had to pay for drug testing.

--Another good story called "There's More to the Benoit" tragedy is at www.thnt.com by Steve Feitl.

--Terri Runnels was on Shepard Smiths' show today on FNC and said steroid use was prevalent and that even with the limited wrestling she did, she used painkillers. When asked how prevalent, she just said "a lot of people." She also said if you lined up 1,000 wrestlers and asked who would have committed such a horrible crime, Benoit would be among the last people anyone would have guessed. She noted Benoit always checked on her while she was undergoing her divorce.

--On WWE 24/7, on the Great American Bash show with the Tower of Doom match, they show Kevin Sullivan stating to strangle Precious with a tag rope. They need to get that thing off pronto. There was also a Chris Benoit vs. John Cena match still on the web site as of this morning.

--Today is Bret Hart's 50th birthday.

im writing an essay/story on the life of chris benoit..

it is unfortunate i have to use this material but it's the most "fresh" topic in my mind

Here's a rundown of the Benoit-centric Observer I got from another board -
-Dave confirmed he used a form of the Crippler Crossface on Daniel. This is interesting since Bryan was adamant that the story was bullsh*t. Apparently investigators found marks on the boys arm and face that they didn't understand and upon watching a tape of a Benoit match and seeing the move it made sense. There were no marks on the neck. They just said it was a "choke" as to not further sensationalize an already sensationalized story.

-Dave said Bryan was closer to Benoit (he found his writing hilarious) then he was and that Dave hardly ever talked to Chris (while Bryan seemed to indicate semi regular contact). Thought that was interesting as we rib Bryan about getting all his sources through Dave but I never thought he'd have more access to someone like Benoit then Dave.

-Benoit got a prescription for the anti-depressant Xanax at the doctor's visit on Friday.

-Benoit started going downhill after Eddy died because he lost the one guy who he could confide in and shared his problems with. Apparently close friends always knew Benoit had the same problems as Eddy (pills, etc.) and suggested Benoit seriously needed to see a therapist but no one suggested it since he wasn't the type to be open to that sort of thing.

-Apparently the death of Johnny Grunge hit Benoit even harder then Eddy since they were neighbors and him and Nancy fighting was somewhat common and he'd be the one to come over and defuse situations and make Chris laugh. After he died, Chris didn't have that buffer when things got out of control.

-Chris and Nancy had recently separated for a period of time, and Dave received a change of address form for an apartment different then their house (I believe Bryan mentioned he got a different address too).

-Chris recently opened up a new life insurance claim naming his ex-wife and his older 2 kids as the beneficiaries and refused to include Nancy or Daniel.

-When there were rumors of him leaving for TNA, Dave asked him about it and Chris was paranoid thinking Dave had inside info that WWE was going to release him. He apparently may have thought ECW was a demotion and the next step would be out the door. He was reportedly obsessed with establishing himself at the HHH/HBK level. He had grown increasingly paranoid that someone was out to get him and didn't let Nancy leave the house at night or Daniel to play outside and would take different routes from the airport home each time in case he was being followed.

-Nancy confided to a friend in wrestling days before the murders that she feared for her life and the friend told her to go take Daniel to her parents place in Florida (as she had done before when Chris became violent) but she didn't this time. Apparently she had a lockbox at the bank with notes indicating if something happened to her, it was Chris.

-Theory is that she told him she was leaving him for good and taking Daniel and that's when he snapped on her. Loved his son and when she filed for divorce all he wanted was joint custody. Theory is he killed Daniel because in his mind he couldn't bare to let him be alone without his parents and in his condition so it was a "mercy killing".

-Someone in WWE informed Dave before the RAW show that Chris had killed them, but others in the company were unaware but at least someone high up knew before the tribute show was put on the air.

-How's this for eerie. When Vince called all the guys in the ring before RAW to give the news, the stage had been decorated with a casket, reefs, candles with Vince's picture, etc. like a funeral. Talent was told to bring dark suits like a funeral to the taping. I'm sure that was a blast. Vince apparently handled it really well, told anyone who wanted to go home would not be disciplined but guys were basket cases and trying to think of some rationalization (carbon monoxide, etc.)

-Nancy visited Dr. Astin on Thursday asking questions about how she could raise Daniel on her own.

-Dave gave a description of the common profile of men who kill their whole families and it was eerily similar to Benoit (hard working, driven, experienced a loss, a few friends but no real support system, anxiety, etc."

-Said Chris was constantly anxious about something. When he was at home he was worried about wrestling, when wrestling he was worried about his family.

-Regal was a neighbor of Benoit's and Grunge and would have know about the home troubles so that sheds some light on his "tribute".

-Dave says he can't write a proper obit/career retrospect and doesn't know if he ever will.
I hope no one has inappropriate signs tonight.
I'd say it was a good bet that security confiscated them at the entrance if anyone had any.

- That's the corniest I have ever seen Cena on the mic.

- Kennedy's a god.

- Lashley is fuckin' garbage. GARBAGE.

- Regal should replace Coachman for eternity.

- Kennedy better win.

Aww, man...don't take Cody offa OVW, not until he settles the score with Shawn Spears. My wife wants to go to the next OVW show in two weeks to see Spears and Rhodes...
