FA(Focus Attack) seems to be handling their orders now. I never heard of them, but they seem well reviewed and mostly a fighting game type online retailer. I've been out of the fighting scene for awhile now, so I guess that's why I hadn't heard of them, but their site already looks 10x better than Udon's LOL. So I guess since Udon deals in a lot of fighting game type books, this may be a good pairing.

And just a heads up, with BF on the way, Udon's online store has some insane deals every year(50%, 75% type deals).

Now that being said, I just went by their site to see what books are in stock, and they appear to have a new company handling their online orders. So I don't know how that may affect BF deals this year. But for anyone who has ordered from them in that past, this can probably only be an improvement. LOL

My books always arrived well packaged, but the site was terrible, as it didn't send confirmations right away, and some times you'll get shipping confirmations, and sometimes not. So hopefully after many years, they realized the issues, and have looked to correct them. If and when deals go live this year, I'll post a link. The last few years, Udon has really been the only place I can say I got any real good BF deals, so hopefully the tradition continues.
I Partook in the sale last year, but I gotta ask do they add items just in time for the sale? Because their inventory right now seems a bit sparse compared to what I remember seeing last year.

EDIT: Nevermind. Was looking at their old store front.

I've ordered arcade parts from them and I've never had a problem.

Looks like their old store also still exists. Weird.

https://www.udonstore.com/
That is weird, as their site was sending me to FA, by default. This is the store where their BF deals have always taken place, so I'll have to check both when the time comes. That could be past inventory they still have on hand at one location, and not the other, but I can't say for sure.

Last year, I didn't really check the site before hand for inventory, but once the deals started, items would sell out, and then come back after a short time. So as I said, the deals where good, but the site, not so much. It will be interesting to see which one offers deals this year, if any, or maybe both? I guess we'll know come BF.

Speaking of Udon, I somehow ended up with two copies of the Darksiders II book. I checked my email receipts, and I only see a previous receipt for the first book in the series, but it was also listed as full price, so maybe it was a two pack during a sale? I also got the slipcover Brutal Legend book at the same time, which looks like it was $30 off the base price. I bought the second Darksiders II book a few months ago, because I wanted to make sure I got it since some of their stuff goes out of stock ( and indeed, this isn't listed as in stock currently). I went to put this one away and noticed I already had it. Oops

Is that the Art of Darksiders 2 Hardcover?

Focus Attack/UDON look to be having a Flash Sale on Cyber Monday from 12PM-3PM EST on Udon art books for half off, while their normal Black Friday deals (TBA) will be starting Wednesday at 12AM EST.

Or the Persona Q artbook, or the Rose of Versailles manga omnibuses, etc.?

Udon is behind on a handful of books...
I haven't really followed any of those titles(Bayonetta included), but yeah, UDON can take years on some of their books. The best I could recommend for any interested titles is to ask on social media if they are still happening, or look them up online and see when the last info was. They often announce at certain events that books are still coming, but unless you follow them regularly, you'd never know. Reprints are the same, sometimes they'll announce them, and unless you have been checking often, some info slips through the cracks.

Sorry for thread necro but I just wanted to clarify for myself. Does the sale start in a couple hours or is it tomorrow night?

So am I just blind or do the Udon book deals kind of suck compared to last year..?
I Think it's because of the switch to Focus Attack I'm assuming. Though last year was crazy bonkers with the deals, the most we'll get this year is half off during the door buster on Monday.

The last several years had been insane actually, and yeah, this year was terrible. 20% off of most things was next to useless, as Amazon and BN prices are still better for most items on sale. I was disappointed seeing they had moved their distro, as I figured the good times may be over. LOL In the past, I just don't think they had the room to house so many books, especially once they started doing larger runs for conventions and such.

I'll check back Monday for sure, but last night was a waste of bandwidth visiting that sale, as it was pretty useless.

Got The Art of Persona 5 today. Despite the complaints people have, Im enjoying it. By far the biggest and heaviest Persona artbook.

It's pretty packed. As in I can't tell it's missing 100 or whatever pages from the Japanese version because this one feels pretty damn thorough.

I don't really mind it tbh. Wish it was hard cover though.

I mainly got The Art of Persona 5 in English because I have the other artbooks in English and I might as well keep it consistent.

damn i missed it.
You didn't miss much, but I did grab two books I had been eyeing for a few years, and at the 50% off, I saved about $20 total. If I didn't already have most of what was being offered, I for sure would have done better. Now to wait and see how well they are shipped, as damages and CS is the true test of the actual "deal". LOL

I wish Shovel Knight was still 20.
Damn the Phoenix Wright Artbook jumped too.

I just saw the comments about Udon's Black Friday deals this year and yeah they sucked. Last year I bought 2-3 books from them and regretted passing on a couple others and told myself I would a lot next Black Friday. I ended up buying nothing.

Yeah, the BF deals where a joke, as the base prices where full retail, so even with the 20 % discount, most could be had cheaper other places(Amazon & BN). I did grab two books on Cyber Monday once 50% off happened, so I saved a little over $20. While not as amazing as past years have been, I still was able to get a few books. If I already didn't own most Udon's softcover books, I could have done much better.

Thanks for letting me know about this! I was expecting to see this during Black Friday weekend, but better late than never! I finally ordered the hardcover of The Dark Knight III: Master Race.

It did happen, as I got a book a few weeks back with it, but it's active in my account again, so I'm grabbing another one.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2099439603/gamecube-anthology-the-ultimate-book

Kickstarter is up for Gamecube Anthology. I have the N64 and PS Anthologies. Both are very well done.
Damn, these guys are fuck ing killing me. LOL

I left the house to take my son to school, and completely missed the early bird for the ultimate edition. As they sent the email right as I was leaving. Oh well, shit happens I guess. They normally offer some dual sets to save on shipping, as I normally grab those, so I can flip the extra, and cover my books cost. So I'll wait a day or two and see what they add to the campaign.

Yeah, I just got my Playstation Anthology a few days back, and it's top shelf as well. I'm actually waiting on a replacement order, as my copies arrived damaged, but still an excellent purchase.

EDIT: It looks like this was up long before they sent me an email, so I had probably already missed out, or was very close. No big deal, as I like supporting these guys, as their books are amazing!

Does Barnes and Noble pricematch their own online store or nah?
Nope, but I order online all the time, and when books arrive damaged, I swap them out at the local stores. Kind of a pain, as their online prices are mostly to go against Amazon, so they don't match those prices at the store level.

Last edited by a moderator:
Well, it looks like they started earlier this month price matching a few days for membership buyers, but based on this, it's over. And it seemed a very YMMV type deal. https://the-digital-reader.com/2017/12/06/barnes-noble-stores-finally-price-matching-website/

I'm a member, and they always give out 20%-30% off bonuses for use in store(and online). But as I stated, I just buy online, as shipping is free for members, then if I have any issues, I just swap it out. I actually just got the Undisputed Street Fighter deluxe edition book from them for $55. It was matching Amazon price at the time, and I had a 20% bonus card, so I got a pretty sweet deal.

If you buy a lot of books, or magazines, the membership is worth the $25 per year cost, but otherwise, not so much. As books are normally always slightly cheaper on Amazon, and of course if you have Prime, your already set.

Not worth it as much to me. I don't buy books all the time anymore.

I honestly would do a pick up in store option if they had it

Just a heads up, but the Gamecube Anthology only has a few days left over at KS. I know most wait on cheaper alternatives(this is CAG after all), but this campaign has the "Ultimate Edition", which is exclusive to KS. If anyone has an interest in that edition, now would be the time to grab it. These guys books are amazing, and well worth the full asking price if you can afford it.
