I don't see how Nintendo can charge higher prices for VC games. It's a ripoff with the prices they have now so I can't imagine the backlash if the prices go up.
I'm done buying VC games too unless it is a classic N64 game that I've never played like OOT or an Arcade quality SNK game, and even then I still have a hard time paying $10. VC games should cost no more than $3 for nes games, $5 for snes, genesis and tg16 games and $8 for N64 and maybe $10 for some newer arcade perfect games like Samurai showdown or something.
I think the current prices are fine, because it costs me about the same prices as I'd pay on the VC to grab the games off Ebay, when you factor in shipping as well. Everyone says the prices are a rip but even if the cheapest NES game on Ebay is like $4 - $5 after shipping, and there is no way real alternative for a lot of people, like myself.
Plus, I'd rather A) use the awesome classic controller, B) only have one system hooked up to my tv that plays all these games, and C) get versions that run in 480p so they don't like shit / look awesome on my television.
I also feel a lot safer buying from Nintendo, then buying from some guy on Ebay where who knows what I'm getting half the time. People always say it's a ripoff but... compared to what? Half the time it's better than Ebay, and where else can you buy old games on a regular basis? Surely not any B&M's around here (thanks Gamestop!). I mean, what exactly are people comparing these prices TO?
But it's when the price starts steadily rising that I have a problem with, when Nintendo feels some games should be more money than other games. I'm a fan of the base pricing myself... I don't like this "minimum" bullshit, and having surprises.
Unfortunately, if they feel like charging 800 points for Super Mario Bros 3, there will be no backlash. Most of us will bitch and complain and then buy it anyways, just like people are doing with TMNT.
