Or you could just be patient for those relases, and enjoy great games like Ninja Gaiden.
Still got your preorder for Duke Nukem Forever?

I downloaded Ninja Gaiden. I played it for half an hour until level 5-3. Somehow I don't remember the bad guy ninjas on jetpacks that throw shurikens. Its so fucking worth $5 and is one of the finest "just one more try" games. Worth it alone that I can go back to it and still be on the same level later because on the NES the worst thing was having so gone far and having to restart to after someone trips on the cord or some shit. And the music is amazing, especially years later coming from my home theater just makes it come alive. Everyone buy it. Now.

I hated when that happened. When I was a kid, our extension cord was really crappy, so I'd be in the middle of a game, and boof, it would go out and I'd have to restart. So frustrating. When battery saves started becoming more and more mainstream, I was very grateful.

Another week of nothing for me.

Meh.

Maybe one of these days I'll get around to DLing DKC... but other than that, I'm still waiting for something great.

Well, shit... I saved 600 points exactly because I figured nothing awesome would come and I'd just grab Ninja Spirit, but now Ninja Gaiden?

Damn... sorry Ninja Spirit, I'll have to grab the superior Ninja game.

Ninja Gaiden is awesome though, can't believe people aren't really excited about it.

I would pick Ninja Gaiden, but it took me forever to beat it the first time! :p

The last part of the game is a bitch. Especially the boss. Nothing like pure satisfaction when I finally beat it. That and relief.
Quick question: Is Super Castlevania IV basically a remake of the original?
Nope. It plays quite different and took advantage of the SNES' Mode 7 capabilities. It's an excellent game, and I recommend it if you've not played it.

Thanks! Need to see how many points I have left, hopefully enough for that and Ninja Gaiden.

Wrong ;)

It is an "enhanced remake" of the original.... it's a retelling of the first Castlevania game.

But yea, for all intents and purposes, it is a different game for the reasons you listed, IIRC they have gone back and retold the first story of Belmont in the castle two or three times now.

Super Castlevania IV is considered a remake of the original Castlevania in the Japanese Castlevania timeline. Konami USA had not reflected it, and it remained a sequel to Simon's Quest according to Konami of America, up until it was removed with the release of the official Xtreme desktop timeline for the PC which brings the series closer to its Japanese counterpart.

I did the exact opposite and downloaded Ninja Spirit instead. I think Ninja Spirit is superior to Ninja Gaiden due to its more chaotic gameplay. IMO only Ninja Gaiden 2 is on par with Ninja Spirit.
Still got your preorder for Duke Nukem Forever?
No. I don't think I'll have the money to buy the eventual XB0X1800 release. Honestly though, I don't think the game is being developed anymore and they just keep mentioning it to make us think it is.
Wow, people aren't excited about Ninja Gaiden?
Ninja Spirit SMOKES Ninja Gaiden. Just my $.02. (Or extra 100 points, as the case may be.)

Oh, and I LOVE Pac-Man, but the NES version is just ok. No substitute for the arcade version, which can be had along with several other things on the Namco Collection for the Cube.

I purchased my third VC title today. Ninja Gaiden is still as fun as it used to be. At least I can replay levels over and over now. Maybe I'll beat it someday.
what is this update for starfox 64 all about?
Apparently they tightened up control stick responsiveness on the classic controller.

Gosh, 6-2 on Ninja Gaiden is just rocking me. I can get like 4 "screens" in and then there's a spot with like 2 birds (or more if the spawning freaks out!) that just throw me around for a while until I'm dead. Awesome.

So near the end, and yet so very, very far.

Alright, need some suggestions. My buddy is going to be in town for a few days before my wedding, and I think I'd like to put my first points toward a game or two that we can play - since I haven't yet gotten around to buying anything, what are some of the better two player VC games? Preferably co-op, but anything would work.

do you have two CC's? Can't go wrong with mario kart... or starfox. or some tecmo bowl.
??????? What??
YEAH! go to the starfox thing if you've downloaded it from the store, and it has an update you can download.. looked it up and everyone's confirming it slows down the emulation so it's up to speed with the n64 version, and it tightens the joysticks a bit. ????????????? IDK, but whatever.
do you have two CC's? Can't go wrong with mario kart.
Yep, I do. Was thinking that, but I'd probably go with Double Dash if that were the choice, worth considering though.

Looks like Legend of the Mystical Ninja might not be a bad choice, that was one I was planning on getting at some point anyway since I never caught the original release.

Mystical Ninja is pretty awesome, good choice.

Mystical Ninja is sweet for co-op. My bro just got back in town for summer and he got that and Shockman. Shockman is a good challenging Co-Op game too cause you share a life bar so you can go get pissed at each other. Very campy dialog so be prepared for funny. Worth it alone for the obvious MegaMan like aspects.

Japan got Streets of Rage 2 today, so expect it up on our VC sometime soon, as Sega doesn't procrastinate in getting things out to us unlike Nintendo and Zelda 2 :(

And maybe it's just me, but I suck a lot more at Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden then I remember.

Anyone else having trouble connecting to the shop channel? It worked fine for me on Monday, but now everytime I try and connect I get error code: 051330. I tried looking that error code up on nintendo's website, but all it says there is specific error code not found. All of my other channels that require a network connection are working fine.

UK got Donkey Kong Country 2 and Mario and Yoshi (puzzle?) I kinda wish we would get our games on Fridays, that way we have the weekend to enjoy them. Mondays are cool too though, something for the Monday morning blues.

After playing Donkey Kong Country for the past few hours, anybody that says the classic controller isn't worth the money is crazy. That game sucks when you play it with a GC controller

Yea anything SNES almost makes the CC a requirement. The GC controller moves all the buttons clockwise. N64 games I prefer the GC controller. There wouldnt be a problem if they let us customize the damn buttons in the first place.

Donkey Kong Country 2?

That is awesome.

I really hope we get that one soon, that one is my favorite.

Mario and Yoshi is just called Yoshi in the US, I am 99.9% sure of that.

Confirmed for the US, on Monday, is Blazing Lazers for the TG-16, which means World Sports Competition for the TG-16 the Monday after that.

I just wish the CC was wireless instead of having it wired to the damn wiimote. I've also been enjoying Ninja Gaiden...Ah the memories!

Blazing Lazers looks a lot like Star Solder and Soldier Blade. It even has the speed control thingy. This is sorta pissing me off, because I KNOW we had one of these games back in the day, and now I can't for the life of me remember the title. They're all similar too so its easy to say "Yup, this is the one!". We only had a handful of TG16 games, and all of the ones I've played are on the VC now except Air Zonk, Devil's Crush, and this random ninja game.

In other news, Streets of Rage 2 and Toe Jam and Earl 2 got rated this past week. SoR2 is a instant sale for me.
I don't know about you fools, but I'm really enjoying the TG16 games. They are all new to me, unlike the other games on the VC.
I only bought 2, and well I been kinda scared to bite on TG-16 games mainly because I don't know how good the system is/was compared to NES and others, and I never heard of any of these, lol.

I will for sure be getting DKC2 when it hits. It was the only DKC I enjoyed. 1 and 3 were both pretty "meh," but 2 was fantastic. Challenging and fun.

They better not think about releasing DKC 2, I still have to beat the 1st one, lol. I love the first game but I have fell onto a huge gaming backlog and DKC got pushed to the back, lol. If they do I will pissed because I already have too much to play, lol.

Do I even need to express excitement for a deep Virtual Console game?

Wow. I'm currently finishing up Super Paper Mario on the Wii. Plan on picking up Paper Mario for the GC for $10 at Circuit City next week. Might as well make the original my first VC purchase.
