Mega Man would be awesome, as would Chip N' Dale's Rescue Rangers. Don't know how the license would work, but I'd kill for some of the Disney games (namely, Rescue Rangers, Ducktales NES, or Donald Duck's Quackshot).

Make it so!
Because there's close to 200 titles out now and there IS a pretty good amount of GOOD games to give as gifts.
PLUS we have say..another 4-5 years of VC releases.

So, soon :)

Eventually :)
Yes, but the more recent the release, the less of a chance there is that the person already has the game.

I honestly don't know why they're really bothering with so many second-string titles.

Something good for Christmas update, thanks!
I'd take another RPG, but doubt it'll happen. You know the one I want, Nintendo.

Thursday I bought 2000 points bringing my total to 2600. I am waiting to christmas to download anything in hope Nintendo brings out something worthwhile (although I do plan on getting Super Metroid and Paper Mario, so either way I win :D).

New week, same crap. I don't even bother getting my hopes up anymore. Mega Man 2? Why waste 600 points when a compilation with all Mega Man games is slightly more and on Gamecube?

I agree! Disney made some excellent games for the Nes and Snes/Genesis. These would be a great addition to the VC.

Capcom.

I think it's possible for the Capcom/Disney games to come out. The only thing I'm going to expect is that instead of 500 points, they may be 600 points. OR 900 points for SNES/Genesis

Man... I remember playing the hell out of Cybernator.
If I recall correctly.. if you don't shoot through the whole first level and only defeat the boss, you would get a huge napalm gun you could use from there on. This was sort of the Sequel to target Earth. (another game I liked that everyone hated. lol)
I was at least hoping for StarTropics this week. Instead it looks like another week with nothing.
Knowing Nintendo, they will probably never relese StarTropics only because I never got past level 3 (I did play every level somewhat since my dad bet it, and I was young with not enough skill) and I am want to finally beat that damn game (plus it is in my top 10 favorite games of all time). Anyway here is hoping they release it sometime. Yeah this weeks releases were bleh but I am hopeful for a extra special Christmas gift from Nintendo.

It's sci-fi/fantasy week on the Virtual Console™, and you know what that means. The Cybernators are deadly, the aliens are ruthless and the monsters are...cute. It's a collection of three classic action games designed to keep your blood boiling as the weather gets cooler and the days get shorter. Virtual Console: your winter security blanket.

Three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the Wii™ Shop Channel every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

Cybernator (SNES®, 1 player, rated E 10+ for Everyone 10 and Older - Mild Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): It is the near future. Resources are dwindling, and the major powers of the world are in dispute over territory. Pilot the Cybernator G5-E for the 95th brigade of the mechanized marines and throw yourself into the war. Get briefed before each mission to confirm your targets, and then do your best to clear each of the seven stages, freely using the suit's equipped tools and four types of weaponry. By collecting the "power chips" left by defeated enemies, it is also possible to reinforce each weapon up to a maximum of three levels. It is left to your judgment as to whether to reinforce a specific weapon or to power up all weapons simultaneously, adding a bit of strategy to the nonstop action. The powerful background music, military-like atmosphere (look for bullet marks on the walls and the strained communication during combat) and intense story development combine to give the world of Cybernator a gritty, sci-fi feel that you won't soon forget.

Alien Storm™ (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, rated E 10+ for Everyone 10 and Older - Mild Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): Shape-shifting aliens have infiltrated the city, creating chaos and panic! Fortunately, a trio of heroes called the Alien Busters has agreed to wipe out the invading creatures. The members of the team wield their own special attacks, and they unload a world of hurt on the Martian menaces from the city streets to the mother ship. Gordon, a tough guy with a bazooka, has a special gunship attack, while Karla has a flamethrower for alien crisping, though she prefers to use her special ballistic-missile attack. Finally, Slammer the robot can self-destruct at will and attacks the intruders with an electric whip and other devices. Take the aliens by storm and save your city.

Monster Lair (TurboGrafx16 CD-ROM, 1-2 players, rated E for Everyone - Mild Cartoon Violence, 800 Wii Points): Join young Adam and Laura as they embark on a fantastic adventure in this comical action/shooting game. Featuring beautiful music brought to life by the power of the CD-ROM, the game consists of 14 rounds packed with cute monster enemies. Players can either play alone as Adam (or play with a friend controlling Laura) as they battle their way through round after round. The first half of each round is the action scene, where players must avoid obstacles and pits. Use your Power Boost weapons against enemies and restore your Life Force with food as you head for the gate at the end. The second half is the exhilarating shooting scene, where players must shoot down flying enemies. Take out the boss at the end to clear the round and move to the next one.

It's what we expected.

I was thinking the same thing last night, how it's only a year in and every Mario platformer except Yoshi's Island, every Zelda game except Majora's Mask, and every Metroid game for the eligible consoles is out now. I know everyone has a couple unique games they'd like to see, but once Earthbound and Super Mario RPG are out, the interest in VC will probably spike downwards.

I agree so much with that.
I understand that there's a lot of GREAT games on all those systems, but there's only SO many AAA titles. There's only SO many titles that EVERYONE knows and EVERYONE loves.

There are titles like Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger that would be AWESOME for the VC, but it's up to Square to give the OK. It would be nice to have all the Final Fantasies and other great Square RPGs on the VC.

I also understand that in 2008, we will be getting WiiWare games. Now what we DON'T know is if there are so many WiiWare games lined up that we will get 1 game a week, like XBLA. Not that this is supposed to turn the attention away from the VC, but still.

I guess there's only way to find out. ::waits::
So, what does everyone think the next N64 game will be?

I dunno, but I want Pilotwings64! I have the cart and it would look great on the VC.

Watch what they do.

Spin jump towards the right wall and hug the wall, let your altitude fall just a little bit. Then press the directional left and the jump button. You should then "wall jump" to the first stump in the left wall. Further up, you will have to jump more than once without a platform to help. It's tricky to learn but awesome to master. ^_^

I'm surprised they haven't released a single Zapper VC game, like Duck Hunt or Hogan's Alley, especially now that the Wii Zapper is out. And then of course there is the SNES Super Scope and a handful of games that supported it. There was a couple bazooka games I enjoyed, like the Tetris version that came with the gun, and a mech combat game...i think it was Battle Clash or something like that. That was pretty fun, but I could never beat the final boss.

I have to wonder how high the VC interest is anyway. We have total sales numbers to go on, but individual numbers haven't been released since that list that had SMB and Zelda at the top of the NES downloads category. It seems like VC enthusiasts such as ourselves are a subsection of a subsection of a subsection (ie. the people who even go online with their Wii, those who visit the Shop Channel and download maybe a game or two, and then the people like us who are gungho about it, keeping track of every update and even actively pushing Nintendo for certain games/changes, like the hard drive support or SD card play) Just the other day, I had an online friend tell me that the Wii VC could really use the Shining Force games. "Well, Shining Force 1 is on there." "...WHAT!?!?!"

I'm not even sure Earthbound would rouse much attention among people outside our circle. Last I heard, it only sold 90,000 copies when it was originally out. I'll love Nintendo forever if/when they do it, but I was also one of those 90,000 to begin with.

As for games I want (WARNING: wall of text incoming) I'd like to see Pilotwings 64 soon, perhaps as the next N64 game but at least released eventually. The first Pilotwings would also be nice, as would Star Fox. For NES, I'd like to see Castlevania III soon. Konami also made a great version of Gyruss for the NES that deserves to be on there. Last I heard, Crystalis was fully Nintendo's property, so I'd like to see them bring it out. Even if SNK still owns part/most of it, they're working with the VC anyway, so they can give the okay. I think it'd be really funny if the first game Square released was Secret of Evermore. I'd laugh and then I'd buy it. People seem to tout Square's SNES offerings and completely forget about what Enix did on the system. I'm not discounting Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, or the FF games, but let's not forget Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. Terranigma would be a sweet import title. With pretty much all the Ghosts 'n Goblins games out, we need to see Gargoyle's Quest II for NES and Demon's Crest for SNES. Demon's Crest would be an immediate download.

Cliff Notes version: There's plenty of stuff left for the VC.

Part of me does believe Smash Bros has a good chance of being the next N64 OR one of the next few. There's plenty of N64 games too, I don't know why they take awhile to release them..?

You know, I think they don't release N64 games often is because if people downloaded a lot (or near all) N64 games..they would run out of space on their Wii. if they do this, then Nintendo is FORCED to make some kind of resolution for space. The fact that OoT is nearly 400 blocks, says something. I'd guess Majora's Mask would be similiar in size.

I'm kinda hoping for Pilotwings 64 too, that game was so much fun/hillarious! I loved doing the wrong stuff on purpose :D

And how much does it cost Nintendo to get the rights from Nintendo to release a virtual download? If Nintendo were the least bit smart (I'm starting to doubt it) they have an SNES emulator that was made a while ago that was bundled with every SNES game. So all they pay is bandwidth. Which is much less than $8 per person, I imagine.

They need to make it work with their broken emulator that they bundle with every game for no reason. SSB is part of the Xmas Eve update. I can feel it.

Don't do that! You are only going to lead to disappointment!
If they do release SSB soon, I'd imagine they would do it remotely close to Brawl..kinda like how they made a big deal about Metroid & Super Metroid..oh and Zelda II was the "100th game"..and Mario Bros 3 came out to celebrate Mario Galaxy..and Pokemon Snap, well..they made a big deal out of it for no reason.
So it IS safe to say that it's possible for SSB to come out around Brawl!

I am thinking Smash Bros. must be released before Brawl. I could only think that releasing it after Brawl would hurt its sales.

(And I don't need 100 people in here quoting me saying they'd still buy it. I would too, but I bet the average game player wouldn't!)

i think super mario kart (snes) is pretty anticipated as well.

I have been like a VC high as of late.
I had gotten 3 games from the SSP (F-Zero, Mystical Ninja, LTTP) and I have been playing them. I also, for the hell of it, had an interest in Air "Zonk" so I downloaded it. It's pretty cool! It's pretty fun! I'd say that $6 is worth it! I haven't beaten it yet, but still. I'm going to have to play the hell out of it and download Super Air "Zonk" :)

Has anyone played the 2 of them? Which one is better?

I also have been really wanting to getting Donkey Kong Country 2. I just never downloaded it. I even sent that out as one of my gifts on the SSP.

Today, Japan got:
Metal Slader Glory, NES, 600 Points
Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, SNES, 800 Points
Party Quiz Mega Q, Gen, 600 Points
Ai Cho Aniki, TGCD, 800 Points

I never heard of Metal Slader Glory..I wonder why that's 600 points instead of 500.
Super Street Fighter II, now that's good news. I really liked that one!

Metal Slader sounds really interesting. They should revist that franchise. If they worked in the story elements with a more visceral gameplay front end, the game could get some serious attention.

I've only played Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3. (classic-wise). Anyway, I know that you can play two players but it isn't at the same time -- like Luigi and Mario playing alongside each other. Are there any VC Mario Games that let you do this? *Hopes Nintendo may have edited with the games to allow this*

IIRC SMB3 has a battle mode. Once again, IIRC:
in 2 player mode, have Mario go on the same space as Luigi and press select (or is that start?)

Ok this has to be new. I had my Wii on the channels screen, and I had walked away for a minute. I came back, and I noticed that the Wii Shop Channel scrolls some stuff if you let it sit there, kinda like Everybody Votes, Check Mii Out, and the News Channel. Right now, there's only 2 things that come up: A gift box that says "Gifting Now Available!"..and "Pokemon Snap Now Available!". I like the new updated channel for the new 'Wii Shop Channel' logo, but this is pretty cool.

Though, Gifting and Pokemon Snap were last week. But still. Would be better if they scrolled more then just 2 things.

Anyone know any great "co-op" or "multiplayer" games that let you use just the Wiimote? For example: Bomberman '93. :D
By the way, Thanks Doomed. I never knew you could do that :O!

Ok, got bored here. Went to the Wii Shop Channel and tallied up the amount of games ("Search By System" gives you the amount of games on each system, so NO, I didn't count them ) and right now we have 184 games.

If we KEEP getting a pattern of 3 games per week, then on January 21 we will have hit 199 games. The update on the 28th would include the VC's 200th game. So it makes me wonder if they will have anything special planned for that milestone. We got Zelda II on the 100th release if anyone doesn't remember.

But since I DO remember, that day we got out 100th game..we got FOUR releases (which is actually pretty rare for us to get LOL). So I'm going to say January 21 could very well be a day we get 4 games and one of them being something really good.

Now I ask, what would make a good 200th game?
Smash Bros Brawl would only be a few weeks away..soo...Smash Bros would be pretty good, IMO :)
