oh and how do you get your data to save in that game? Each time I have to replay all the levels I've previously beaten (isn't too hard after I've beat 'em but still..)
Most NES games don't have save files. You can, however, cheat when playing any NES(and most other) game by pressing the home button and exiting to the menu. This saves your exact spot, but is erased once you load it again, so don't forget to save every time.

alright, thanks. :)
I think WW will age much better than TP simply because of its graphic style. I love LttP and Minish Cap, but I think WW takes the cake because it wasn't a cookie cutter get three pendants and go to alternate world. I'll admit the end portion collecting the triforce was rushed, but the rest of the game is awesome. *hopes for WW Director's Cut on Wii*
I dunno... I thought OoT was amazing from start to finish with a few minor annoyances. WW just seemed to get more tedious as it went on (first with the sailing, then with the fetch quest) though it was never anywhere near tedious enough to make me even want to think about quitting. And WW had a joke of a difficulty system- it's still the only Zelda game I never died in. Gameplay wise, I'd say the two are equal though OoT had a bigger impact because it was more innovative for it's time.

But I do agree that WW's graphical style is as amazing today as it was when it came out- so fluid and vibrant. OoT looked pretty crappy after a few years and back in the day, I never realized how muddy everything looked (color-wise) but the art style still holds up fine even today.

I'm sorta disappointed with Nintendo... I was hoping for some huge surprise like SMRPG on the VC. Instead, we get 3 'ok' games.
Maybe for XMAS well get lucky and get Shining Force 2
Dammit - you're getting me all worked up about something that would never happen. Still, here's to two updates in the same week! (As long as tomorrow's fantasy update includes Shining Force 2).

Highly unlikely that we'd get two updates in the same week, although I would be the last person on Earth who would complain about getting more VC games.

As for a fantasy update, there are enough RPGs in the pipeline that it could happen. Ys Book I-II and Shining Force II have yet to be released-if we were to get an Earthbound or a Super Mario RPG, it could be released with those two as a themed update.

What an epic update that would be. I'd have to download all three (whether the third game was SMRPG or EB)

I've never played Earthbound, but it's definitely a game I'll get once it hits. As for tomorrow, I've heard rumblings of a Wii Ware channel, but I doubt anything will come of it.

This isn't what I'd call "Worst Christmas, Ever!" but it's not good Virtual Console wise.

Maybe I will get a Christmas Miracle and the WiiWare Dr. Mario will be released and I can never sleep and play and play and maybe also play online all the time like when Tetris DS came out.
Or maybe I will get a Christmas Merken instead.
Good morning :)
Here's the press release, it's exactly what we expected,
I can't believe they tried to make it like it's some sort of Christmas update...Sigh.
Nintendo must have hired a very good PR person to write these weekly VC releases, especially when it's the Holidays.

Why the hell did IGN give Kirby's Adventure a 9.5/10? I DLed it as a Christmas present to myself and I can't see where the score comes from. The graphics are amazing for an NES game, but besides that I just don't get where the score came from. An 8/10 tops.

IT CAN HAPPEN !!!

OMG! Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3, Super Mario RPG, Phantasy Star I-IV, Fatal Fury Mark of the Wolves, and Hot Slots just went up!

Impossible!

Whew, I just finished sending Super Mario Bros to everyone in my address book... My Wii Points balance is completely exhausted! First time I've seen "0 Wii Points" in a long, long while.

Listen up, just so you know.

On the day we inevitably meet, I'm going to have this post printed out and folded up in my pocket.

And even though I know it's a joke, and always knew it was the second I saw it, I'm still going to print it out and have it folded up in my pocket.

Then, after we enjoy our wine and Masterpiece Theatre, I'm going to take it out.

We'll have a hearty laugh.

And then I'll bitch slap the monocle right the hell out of your eye.

Well, considering I used to get you and Apossum mixed up, and knowing your antics of joke accounts, for a while I considered you both the same person.

But one of you is certainly more annoying than the other on a consistent basis.

>:]

Anyone here try to access the VC today? I was trying to download Paper Mario and I kept getting error 209600 for about a hour so I going to wait till later. I am just wondering if it is my connection or Nintendo's connection.

Man, Pokemon Snap is way too easy to beat, they should make a sequel with tons more levels in it. I figured I'd play it during Xmas with a friend, one on Wii and one on the old N64 and it went way too fast.

I think he means you

I have 3200 points to spend and already have these VC games.
- Actraiser
- Contra III
- Legend of Zelda
- Legend of Zelda: A link to the past
- Punch Out!
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Super Mario Bros.
- Super Mario Bros. 2
- Super Mario Bros. 3
- Super Mario Wolrd
- Super Mario 64

So im thinking of a good way to use all my points. But thats a little difficult. Id have to get Mario Lost Levels for 600, 2 SNES games at 800, and 2 NES games at 500. Otherwise im going to end up with points left over. LOL. But these are the games im thinking of.
- Mario Lost Levels
- Super C
...these 2 are for sure.
NES
- Castlevania
- Castlevania II
- Kirbys Adventure
SNES
- Castlevania IV (they have 1,2,and 4, Where is 3?)

hmmmm. Dont really see any other SNES games id really die for. They are really short on SNES games too. Whats the deal with that?

You can send me Lttp as a Christmas present. I can even pay you a bit via Paypal.
Wind Waker is terrible, sorry, but it really was the only Zelda game I couldn't play through to the end.
I couldn't agree more.

The game looked and played like shit.

I couldn't disagree more. The game was gorgeous once you gave it 10 minutes.

I can't reccomend Kirby's Adventure that much. Graphics are great, but gameplay isn't as amazing as some make it out to be. It's not a bad game, but it leaves a feeling something along the lines of "I payed 5 bucks for this when I could have gotten Super Mario Bros. 3?" It just leaves me feeling like I should have gotten something more.

no mario kart?
no mario kart?
Im a single player person, none of my friends like video games, so i dunno how fun that would be playing by myself.

Don't hate on turbo graffix, you have to get at least one of thier games. I recommend air zonk at 600 wii points. Alien Soldier is a great game also for your Genesis fix.

Air Zonk IS awesome!! I just beat that and now I'm working on Super Air Zonk.

i hope we get Mario Party on the VC soon. It'll be eventually, but soon would be nice :applause:

So can anyone (especially Doomed!) make 15x15 icons for TGCD games?

So can you kindly go fuck yourself? I'm still a little grumpy about that contest.
Just kidding. Mostly. I'm on it.

My somewhat realistic wishlist for 2008:

Super Mario Kart (SNES)
Dragon Warrior III (NES)
Super Smash Bros. (N64)
Shining Force II (GEN)
Duck Tales (NES - is there any copywright issues with this?)
Life Force (NES)
Tecmo Super Bowl (NES - but if the names are gone it isn't as fun)

I'd buy all of those in a heartbeat.

Duck Tales was actually made by CAPCOM. I'd say it has a chance on coming to the VC (along with say.. Chip N Dales Resuce Rangers)..but I'd expect them to come out at 600 points, intead of 500. Like the reasoning behind TMNT for NES.

I def want Smash Bros and Mario Kart! ALSO A MARIO PARTY PPPLLLEEASE!

I wouldnt mind Duck Tales, i loved that game. How about Wrestlemania Challenge(NES)...i used to love that game. Dont forget about Mega Man either. There isnt any mega man games on VC, and they really need to add more SNES games. Alladin and Lion King were cool SNES games. LOL
anyone have impressions on VC controller use with these games vs. GameCube controller? I'm scared at how weird the GameCube one will feel.
Well the CC is basically a SNES controller. So I use the CC for all my games except for N64 ones. It feels really good and the d-pad is big enough for the job (unlike the horrible one on the GC controller), and I heard that trying to play a game like Super Mario World on the GC is not fun. I don't use the CC for N64 games because the joysticks are way too sensitive for me, but since the N64 controlls are essentially the GC controlls, the GCN controller works fine.

A huge mistake.

B on the GC controller = Mario's regular jump. X/Y on the GC controller = running/cape attack/etc. If you plan on playing Mario World (and you should've made the decision already), get a CC.

DKC3 is out? Hmm....I liked it, but not as much as DKC2.
