Throw down the ONE game you own that you doubt *any* other CAG has!

I have this:

supercharger.gif

Its a big honkin cartridge for the Atari 2600 that plugs into a cassette player and you play games off of cassette tapes. Basically the Supercharger expanded the RAM of the 2600 from 128 bytes to 6,272 bytes. The games loaded off of cassette tape slooooowly, but the games themselves were kickass with better graphics and more gameplay that any other vcs games.

I own the Supercharger and almost all the games ever made for it. They had a multilevel RPG called 'Dragonstomper'.

Did you play Atari games on cassette tape? Yeah, didnt think so. ;)

Damn, I'd love to get one of those things.*

*For $5 at a yard sale.

So it plugs into the headphone jack of a cassette deck and the cartridge slot of the 2600?

I think this should have been limited to US releases only…

Novolin Man (SNES)-I SERIOUSLY doubt anyone else has this

Some easier but still possibly obscure games:
Cosmic Fantasy 2-Duo
Exile (1 or 2, I don’t remember which)-Duo
Star Control (Genesis)
Star Control 2 (3DO)
Starflight (Genesis)
Space Wars (PC)

Ones mentioned that I own:

Panzer Dragon Saga
Sacrifice
Silhouette Mirage (had, didn’t like)
Overlord (NES-I think this is the one I’m thinking of-kind of a strategy game?)
Metal Gear Solid (GBC-ie Ghost Babel-didn’t like this much)

Local Releases:

E.T. for the Atari.
Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle for the SNES

Japanese:
VG Neo for the Super Famicom and PS
Star Ocean for the Famicom

I bought it during the great game crash that ended the Atari age, just before the NES came out, and I think it was probably $5 or less.

And yup, it works just like you think it does. The best part is, if you have one now, you can plug it into your cdplayer or mp3 player and run all the game roms off of that. ;)

You'd be surprised at how good the games were. Dragonstomper was a legit RPG, with gold, shops, potions, experience, the whole shebang. There was another game called 'Maze of the Mindmaster' that was in psuedo 3D, think of the first person view rpgs like Eye of the Beholder and thats how it played. It wasnt an RPG, but you stepped thru a 3D maze in first person. I'd say the game graphics and sound were easily as good as early NES stuff, which came years later.

Magnavox Odyssey 2 - Power Lords (complete)

&

The Super Mario Bros. full size pinball machine

those are my two entries (although, out of my 1200 games, I'm sure there are some more that I could have used.)

I did! And I still have the Supercharger my parents bought for me in the 80s.

I've upgraded to the Cuttle Cart, though:

http://www.schells.com/cuttlecart.shtml

It's a Supercharger... supercharged. Plays all the Supercharger games as well as damn near every other Atari 2600 game ever made.

Does it let you save your games somehow?

I also have E.T. for the 2600. It's in my parent's basement with the rest of my Atari collection but I still technically own it.

Still no one else with Asuka?

those people who said journeyman project, was that due to it being a pack-in for packard bell pcs circa early to mid 90s?
or did you purchase it?

i'll add iron solider 3 (for the nuon), well my samsung n501

Just had to comment on some of the others mentioned since I posted. I cannot resist a conversation that lets me talk about old PC RPGs.

Dragon Wars: Got it fairly late in its life for the PC. At first I thought it was hard until I figured out to put all my skill points into unarmed combat and watch the enemies die horribly. I assume it was a glitch that made weapons oh so useles compared to bare fists.

Starflight? I would hope most people who are old enough had this all time great! Own the Sega Genesis and PC versions.

Star Control 1 and 2: Had them both. 2 was far superior.

Panzer Dragoon Saga: Have it. Never really played it much. I'm into more classic style RPGs. The last 3 discs have never been out of their sleeves. Had I known it would become so rare I would never have opened it.

Magic Candle I and II (and III as well) are old favorites. Hard as hell (Especially III if I recall correctly) but fun.

Gold Box D&D and Buck Rogers: Have all of them. Own copies of several of the Gold Box games for multiple formats. Bought them yet again when they came out in those CD collections. Had Buck Rogers 1 for both Genesis and PC and 2 for just PC.

Birthright: Had it. I dont' recall playing it for long.

Witchhaven: Got it FREE from EB I think. The guy asked me if I wanted it as they had promo copies. I cannot turn down a free game so I said sure. I probably should have...ugh.

Conqueror 1086 A.D.: I actually really enjoyed this as flawed as it was. Getting Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires recently for my 360 reminded me of this game. Similar style.

Betrayal at Antara....I really liked that game though I always mix it up with the Realms of Arcania series.

Lionheart: Have that too. That's a pretty recent one. I had high hopes for this game. And I loved the first half of the game. The 2nd half...well was there really a 2nd half? Heh.

How about these, all for PC:

Disciples of Steel: One of those "Could have been one of the best ever if not for the bugs" type of games. RPG mostly with gold box style combat and walking around. But you also could raise armies in castles you took over and use them to fight battles. In fact the last battle was a battle of armies. It had a LOT of bugs though. From food not working properly (Which was a blessing I found out as the later CD version "Fixed" this...making you die of starvation all the time after walking a short distance!) to broken quests to the final battle being broken it had problems. In my game during the final battle I was getting smashed. I was down to 1 army. They had dozens. Then they all fled and I won the game. I guess my guys were really scary! Ha! Despite all this I loved it if only for the fact you could get one of your guys icons in battle to look like Dr. Doom and then storm a castle with said guy and if you were smart...solo the place.

Anvil of Dawn: Fun RPG I played through once. I had to contact the company at one point when my game kept crashing. It turned out having too many items crashed the game and I never used the one use stuff like healing potions. Used a bunch and finished it.

Daemonsgate: This was an RPG I think. It came with a VHS tape. I never got very far because every time I tried to leave the starting city I fought enemies 50 times my level and died horribly. Very odd.

Realms of Arkania series: There were at least 3 of these, maybe 4. They are probably not so rare but I had to mention them anyway because they are the only games I recall where your characters could have their boots wear out and get Tetanus.

Darklands: Another one that probably isn't that rare. I have 2 or 3 copies just from buying multipacks in addition to my original disk copy. But another classic that gets ignored a lot.

Twilight 2000: Another of those super buggy games. This game is probably what inspired Jagged Alliance and also had one of the greatest character creation systems ever. Too bad if you didn't remember to make at characters who could speak every language in the game between them you were screwed.

Dragon Ball Z: Final Bout (original U.S. release, not the 2004 re-release) -PS1
Typing of the Dead -DC
National Lampoon's Chess Maniac 5 Billion and 1 -pc, on 12 3.5" discs
Third World War -Sega CD factory sealed
Outpost 2 -PC

Read most of the thread, didn't see any of these mentioned.

Dragon Wars was one of my favorite RPG's on the C64, as well as both Buck Rogers titles and the rest of the gold box D&D's.

Anyone play Space Empires IV or V on PC?

I have an Odyssey2 in storage and have a tone of games for that.

Those cuttle carts are awesome! Too bad the guy doesnt make them anymore and hes all sold out. =(
How about Star wars droids? It was this odd puzzle/platformer game for the PC.
I have that and FFVII PC. I'll raise you Mega Man X3, X4, Puzzle Fighter, and FFVIII, all for PC.

My first PC was 2nd hand from my Dad's friend who had just bought a new one. He's the one that gave me the game along with a handful of other software, but I'm not sure where he got it. It's possible that maybe he got a Packard Bell as a replacement and gave me that pack-in game, since it was disc-only, but I'm not sure, I never asked.

I'm going to add "Are you Afraid of the Dark?: Orpheo's Curse" to my hand, as well as Mother 3 + the special edition Gameboy Micro it came optionally bundled with.

Bubble Bath Babes, Hot Slots and Peek a Boo Poker for the NES (did have stadium events but sold it a while back :( Dynastic Hero for the turbo duo, magical chase for the TG 16, Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire ORIGINAL release and not the fake crap, tons more
Few promotional type games are Donkey Kong Competition cart, Star Fox competition carts, tons more
Then some rare sealed titles include Chavez II for the SNES factory sealed, Mountain Bike Rally/ Speed Racer for the SNES factory sealed, Pokemon Box for the gamecube factory sealed, kaze kiri import for the pc engine factory sealed, many more

also, to the user who said there are only 10 or so Panzer Dragoon Saga's sealed left, thats simply not true. at least 50 are probably out there, minimum.

Pff, I had Mega Man X3 for the PC. Hell, I even had Mega Man X and Mega Man X5 for the PC at one point. Maybe I didn't have Puzzle Fighter, but I had Dino Crisis 2 and Chaos Legion for the PC as well.

None of those ports were really any good

Yeah that is the same one I have, I picked it up for like 5 bucks at walmart 5 or 5 years ago.

Does anyone have the Original Survivor game for the PC? My god that is THE WORST GAME EVER!
I own that. Wow, was it bad.

I'll raise you Ultima:Exodus for the NES.
Wow I haven't thought of that game in ages I remember being slightly confused on it when I was about 6 or so and playing it

Still on top with my Mary-Kate and Ashley: Get a Clue GBC factory sealed, but figured I'd chime in to ruin some people's attempts at pwnage.

I have Ashen. As I used to cover N-Gage for GameSpy a few years back, I have a freaking ginormous collection of games for the handheld. And I actually played them. ; ) I bet Grave_Addiction has Ashen, too. Crappy game, btw.

Along with a finger-pointing stylus/Japanese "Objection" wrist strap. I think the wife took the digital camera on her business trip, or I'd take a picture.
Microsoft Fury 3 (I love this game, still play it today! Works great in XP)
I have Wario Land, and I wish I had the other two. I've got a decent 3DO collection. Try me.
So what other games? Civilization 2 Gold? SimCity 3000 Unlimited? Worms 2? Duke Nukem II? Nope. Lemmings Paintball, cockbites. Beat that.
Hi. I think I might look familiar to you.

I would love to get the expansion (or sequel?) for Fury 3. I gave Terminal Velocity as a gift once to a friend and I downloaded the demo. Five years later that CD was severely scratched up .

I downloaded the demo of Lemmings Paintball back when it first came out. I like the original better.

I have zero obscure games, but the one I have that I think comes close to it is FX Fighter for PC.

Maybe Primal Rage and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, both for PC.

Dracula X Rondo of Blood (Turbo Duo - Japan)
Symphony of the Night (Sega Saturn - Japan)
I've got both of these. It's a pity that the sound effects didn't get ported cleanly to the Saturn... there's a few that just really, REALLY hurt my ears. No fully-charged attacks please, Maria. Rondo is -wonderful-... totally worth the trouble tracking down.

Most of my rares tend to be imports, but...
Beyond Shadowgate (TG-16 CD wtf)
Everblue 2 (PS2)
Galaga: Demons of Death (NES)

Okay, so Galaga isn't rare, but the title's adorable.

As for non-US...
Haunted Castle/Castlevania (JP, PS2)(Arcade port)
Assault Suits Valken (JP, PS2)(enhanced edition of the SFC title)
Clock Tower: The First Fear (JP, PS)
Snatcher (JP, Saturn)
Incredible Toons: Nazo Makai Mura (JP, Saturn)(Ghouls and Ghosts goes puzzler)

No one has toppled my Hugo's Jungle of Doom. You can download all 3 Hugo games for free now, legally. I suggest you trying them. Very fun games!

I'll also add Jill of the Jungle, Jill Goes Underground and Jill Saves the Prince. My dad bought me all those games when I was a little, little kid. I still have them, the original copies. :)

Here's mine.

Keef the Thief - yes, I bought this at Software Etc (for those that even remember that store). It was supposedly pretty funny. I didn't play it very much. It tried way too hard to be this huge barren environment where you'd get lost very easily and that, to me, equals no fun. I kept it because (a) it was expensive at the time and (b) the box art is very odd.

I bought this at Software Etc.(which is now Gamestop - for you n00bs) too! Played it on my ultra fast 386 DX-33 with 4mb of RAM or something along those lines. It's been so damn long. I still own the game - it's in storage somewhere.
