http://img20.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tru5o251hz.jpg

Immense gratitude to Shrike4242 for updating this thing while I was away!!!

This is an odd one.....

Basically the gist is that Toys R Us is reducing its inventory by 20% by marking down over 6,000 skns from it's inventory, most of which are toys. There are however roughly 300 or so video games/accesories that will be a part of this clearance. As of 7/11 all have been marked down from 30-50%. TRU is seeking to aggressively move these skns out of its stores. So if these games have not sold in roughly a months time they will be marked down again...a month later, again.....and so on until it's gone. So if you're the gamblin' type I suppose you could hold out for cheaper prices. Prices seem to be good everywhere, though there may be some variance in prices between stores.

Everything that is a part of this sale is on a 3 week cycle, meaning that every three weeks any items remaining in the stores will receive another price drop. Seeing as how these prices went into effect on the 11th of July we should be seeing them all drop again on the 1st of August.

The only caveat here being that retail is an odd beast that can be subject to change. So basically there is another price drop coming that in all likelihood will happen on the 1st so check back on the than to see what's up.

*****CONDENSED VERSION FOR THOSE OF US THAT ARE NOT SO GOOD WITH THE READING*****

a.) TRU marked down a shiton of inventory.

b.) Inventory will continue to be marked down if they do not sell.

c.) Prices may vary between store.
This would explain why my TRU was lit up like a christmas tree with markdown signs. they didnt have much left though. BTW, what does YMMV stand for?
YMMV = Yout Mileage May Vary

basicly, it's a deal that may not be available in all areas, or is defferent between stores.

I went to TRU today to buy a gift for my little niece, and the markdowns I saw were PSP games that were $40 were marked to $30. Some of those included Medievel Resurrection, Kingdom of Paradise, and Metal Gear Acid. Hopefully, you all will have better luck, or the TRU near me will have better drops in the next few weeks.

Looks like some great stuff could be found with this sale. I'm definitely going to keep my eye out for a few PSP and GBA games.

Any clues on prices? 50% off I saw tossed in somewhere. Though that wouldn't be enough for me to warrant going to TRU - I want Fire Emblem for GC, but I still probably wouldn't pay $25.

Well the list looks slightly better then CC list with the exception of games aren't $8.98 :) I only picked up Pirates from the CC sale cause it the only game I was really really interested in. Some of these games would be good for a lower price. Psychonauts I believe is $29.98 for XBox at TRU, meaning at 50%off It's still $15 which is slightly below a used copy at EB/GS. Still not a bad deal though. If Advent Rising retails for $19.99 I might want to score a copy just for being $10 new. I did miss out on Gauntlet Seven Sorrows and kinda want that, I think it retails for $29.99 though, and Stubbs looks tempting but I believe it retails the same.

Psychonauts was $21 last time I saw it. If the prices are good i am going to pick up Psychonauts, Stranger's Wrath, Castlevania DP, and TMNT 2 ( for the arcade unlockable).

Psychonauts is an awesome game -- well worth $15 -- and GI seemed to like the XBOX version more, too, for having a generally smoother framerate than its PS2 cousin.

I picked up the last 2 copies of Psychonauts (Xbox) for $20.98 each. Now I find out they may drop half price. If they drop in price will TRU pay me the difference? And how do I know if there's a price drop?
Who wants to volunteer to type up the orginal, pre-percentage-off prices? ;) And you can't volunteer me.
Well, I know that X-Men Legends 2 is already only $20 pre-sale. Can't believe they're going to make it even lower.

FF XI (w/ hard drive) - $69.99
Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble - $19.99
Fire Emblem (GC) - $49.99

Also i think Donkey Konga /w konga was around $59.99 or $49.99
Who wants to volunteer to type up the orginal, pre-percentage-off prices? ;) And you can't volunteer me.
I have no problem typing up the list, as long as someone shoots me the information

Hmm.. maybe now I can finally pick up Meteos for a better price. Couldnt find it at any CC for $8.96..but if it's $15 (HOPEFULLY less!!) I'll pick it up.

That's it for me, for now I guess.

When does this sale actually start? Damnit If i didnt get fired from Toys R Us a few weeks back Id be rolling in this sale.
When does this sale actually start? Damnit If i didnt get fired from Toys R Us a few weeks back Id be rolling in this sale.
It's supposed to start sometime within these 3 weeks. Simply because things are being marked down slowly.

And what did you get fired for pray tell? The former action world leader at my TRU once speared (meaning tackled a kid) and broke his own rib in doing so. He did that because the kid's favorite wrestler was Edge and so he decided to do the finisher on him.

Ironically enough he wasn't fired and actually works at a different TRU.

This is classic. He should perform a "Rock Bottom" on someone else at his new location.

I would pay to see that...especially on the hard flooring at Toys R Us.

Well also back in the day when he worked at our TRU, whenever someone would climb up the ladder, he would immediatly climb up on the other side and start throwing fake punches and slam their head against the ladder to make it seem like a ladder match. He's around 40 too, which makes it all the more interesting. Though safe to say, christimas time, people got quite a show.

Everytime I see someone post 'tag' I always think of GameFaqs. Don't they have cooler names for 'Tag' now, like 'T7135GZ' Or something?

it's hidden advertisement for a certain bodyspray from my guess...

I prefer "Sumo Butter" more than "Tag"

I doubt it.. TRU even puts new barcodes on items that you return so people have to pay the same price you did.. well, my TRU does atleast..

Yes, they will refund you the difference (unless they changed the policy within the last few months). I believe you have 14 days only though. You can go in with your receipt and the item and ask if there has been a price adjustment.

Also, I don't believe they are putting those bar codes on so they make sure people pay the same price as you. When I have returned games they put on a bar code for the return. If you notice, when they return the game, they scan the bar code they just put on the game. Also, they don't necessarily put the bar code over the original bar code, just somewhere on the box. I am guessing it's a way to track inventory for returns or something. I could be wrong though.

Am going to try to pick up the GBA Castlevania 2-pack, but as of yesterday, the price hadn't dropped.

Thank you. I learn something new about this site everyday.

Browsed today. No sign of a special sale.

PS2 hard drive was at the low, low discounted price of 69.99. It's a start, I guess.

No sign of Castlevania 2 pack. Psychonauts XBOX still priced at 20.98, as it has been for months. Didn't ask for a price check.

Red dots, which appeared on the hard drive a few weeks ago, appeared on XBOX 360 boxes. Don't know what (if anything) it means.

Exactly. Those barcodes are just temporary, for the sake of tracking returns. When they are to be returned to the sales floor, the "new" barcodes are scanned and removed from the item. If anything, someone will pay less than what you did, if the item had been opened and returned as still working. My store has been rather overzealous about marking down returned merchandise.
Also, I don't believe they are putting those bar codes on so they make sure people pay the same price as you.
You are right. The barcodes they put on a returned or damaged item at the customer service desk is a reference barcode. So that during the day or when we close, we can keep track of what we return. So for example if we return an Xbox 360, a refund barcode is scanned, put on the 360 (anywhere, since it will be rescanned and taken off). That way we can confirm that a return was done. This is a way to make sure that the items that are being returned are actually accounted for.

I love how people can make assumptions about how stores do things without A) Working there or B) Knowing what is really going on.

Back on topic, I haven't received any information about this for our particular store. I'll have to ask my managers about it and post if I find any information.

I really hope this is another $10 sale like the one on X-mas. Dear god, Fire Emblem for Gamecube for $10 , then again all these damn summer sales are friggin killing me right now. Seriously, i've never ever spent over $200 on video games in less then a month. This website has become both a horrible blessing and a curse.

hahahaha, welcome to the house of addiction!

like everyone else, I'm waiting to see results for this sale...there were a ton of price drop tags rolled out at my TRU, but nothing on this list was marked.

maybe the games are YMMV as well?

Honestly, most of the games on the list are the same as the ones at my TRU. Though i didn't see Soul Calibur 3 on the list, but then again i only got like a quick 10 minute look on the list so i wouldn't be suprised if i miss it.

RIP ebgames online. had some good scores from there.

OK, a little off topic, but since TRU is also marking down TOYS, I was wondering if anyone knew where I could obtain a list or at least a rough idea of what was included in the sale

Thanks,
-Brian
