Immense gratitude to Shrike4242 for updating this thing while I was away!!!

This is an odd one.....

Basically the gist is that Toys R Us is reducing its inventory by 20% by marking down over 6,000 skns from it's inventory, most of which are toys. There are however roughly 300 or so video games/accesories that will be a part of this clearance. As of 7/11 all have been marked down from 30-50%. TRU is seeking to aggressively move these skns out of its stores. So if these games have not sold in roughly a months time they will be marked down again...a month later, again.....and so on until it's gone. So if you're the gamblin' type I suppose you could hold out for cheaper prices. Prices seem to be good everywhere, though there may be some variance in prices between stores.

Everything that is a part of this sale is on a 3 week cycle, meaning that every three weeks any items remaining in the stores will receive another price drop. Seeing as how these prices went into effect on the 11th of July we should be seeing them all drop again on the 1st of August.

The only caveat here being that retail is an odd beast that can be subject to change. So basically there is another price drop coming that in all likelihood will happen on the 1st so check back on the than to see what's up.

Sounds good...my TRU still had a ton of xbox games left, so lets hope it stays that way when August rolls around.
 
Went to TRU today. The only had the 3 month XBOX Live starter kit and it rang up $39.99. I picked up FF I and II Dawn of Souls for the GBA for 9.99. The FF hard drive for the PS2 for $39.99 and and extra XBOX remote for .98.

I bought The Castevania double pack for $19.99 last week and the two that were left then were still there today. So the chances of you getting a Catlevania double pack might not be bad.

I found one last Friday.

However, I've been to six different TRUs. Only one had Castlevania. Many of the others no longer had shelf stickers for it.

The one I can't find is Legend of Heroes for PSP. Is there any kind soul who'd be willing to trade for it? I give up.
 
Just a word of warning about the 3-month kits. The one I picked up yesterday had "Subscription must be activated by 09/30/05" on the top of it. So, people might have an issue with activating it, though I know I used a 3-month kit a while back this year without issue.

Plus, it was marked as $9.98 though rang up at $39.99. They did a price adjustment to bring it down to $9.98.
 
Will they let you do a price change on clearance if you already bought it? Or would I have to try to return/rebuy?
 
I'm wondering the same thing. Does the Price Adjustment policy apply to clearance items? I'll ask next time that I go in to my local TRU.

I have some potentially interesting news, if this employee was right. At my local TRU (Harrisburg,PA), an employee "let me in on something". He told me that on Friday AND Saturday (that's the way he phrased it), the clearance items (including these games) would be 20% off. That's all he told me.

I asked if I could buy stuff now, bring the receipt (I'll bring the items just in case) back on Friday, and do a price adjustment. He was fine with that.


I just found this out a day or so ago.

Because a lot of what is on sale is properly marked. The better titles will be bought the longer you wait.

Does TRU do return/rebuys or whatever you call them? I actually was at the store you go to for this sale. Picked up quite a few items.

Yes, they should. I have had luck doing it at a few TRUs, but I am not sure what the corporate wide policy is.

This is a special promotion that they are doing in certain test markets. I believe that your employee must have been confused however as the Harrisburg, PA TRU does not appear to be a part of it. During the week of 8/6-8/12 the following TRU locations will offer an additional 20% off all clearance items.

All TRU's in the Roanoke-Lynchburg area(3)
All TRU's in the Nashville area(5)
All TRU's in the Columbus, Ohio area(4)
All TRU's in the Denver area(4)
The Chico-Redding area TRU(1)
All TRU's in the Rochester, NY area(2)
All TRU's in the Salt Lake City area(5)
All TRU's in the Cincinnati area(5)

I picked one up with the 64 Mb card. The disc wouldn't work with my gamecube (silver version) you have to send it in to Datel to get the newer version. The memory card works fine though.
 
Just got back...qutie disappointed. I saw the orange stickers, but all the games I wanted - Metoes, Castlevania, Puyo Pop - were all out. But I did see Sonic Rush for $20, so I picked that up.

Nevermind. Managed to go to another store and look in person and was able to find one (even though I believe it is the older version). Now I get to send the CD back and get the newest one from them. Weeee.

Yea, it's always a possibility so definitly try for it. I just hadn't seen any documentation on that so I figured I give what info I had. Hopefully, I am wrong however and you get a chance to turn up some good deals.:D

I ended up doing an exchange in-store for the "newer" version of the 3-month kit, which had "Xbox 360 compatible" on the front of the box. Also, on the top, the expiration says 03/31/07, and the 3-month card worked without any issue.

If you pick up a 3-month kit, check the date on the top, and for the "Xbox 360 compatible" on the front.

Anyone know the price of Warioware Twisted for the GBA at TRU? Cause I heard this might be one of the clearance games but at my TRU it was still in the glass behind the counter so I figured it was full price still.

And, since you don't have solid proof they'd have to call the store. And if the store is OOS, they'll deny the pricematch
 
I have been to my TRU five times in the last two weeks and there has been no discounts except for the wireless av adapter for the xbox....how disappointing (I am in Jensen Beach Florida).

If anyone has been fortunate enough to see the dvd remote for xbox at the $4.98 price and is willing to sell or trade, PM me...I will be very grateful!

PS - what a great time to own an xbox with all the clearances...I purchased over 20 games without paying over $10 a game...yahoo.

I saw this tagged for 19.9X at my TRU if that helps.
You might find this game at Gamerush or Sears for $10 if they're still in stock. I'm not sure if this game is included since its universially about $20 everywhere else and not sure if the tagged $19.9X games at TRU are going to drop along with the others.
 
Not videogame related but are there any transformers on clearance since I heard somebody on here mention that other stuff was gonna be on sale/ clearance.
 
If anyone knows of a TRU near Fresno California that is doing the clearance let me know im going to one today hopefully they have something or else i might have to :argue:
 
I bought Kingdom of Paradise (PSP) $15 + Zatch Bell (GC) $10. Saldy, the computer didn't take the coupon ........i endup pay $26.XX then took the coupon to customer service desk as for $5 adjustment. Yeah, i work like charm (Just say i forget about $5 off coupon) :)

I know for a fact my bestbuy does, i did it a while ago, however your probably right with a printout, from far away, but they can just call the local store to verify, its worth a try.

and most employees are to lazy to check if its in stock

I haven't seen any. No sales or bundles, either. They are the only place I've seen Primus in stock, and it tends to go. I've also seen the SW vs TF Attactix at one TRU.

The toy clearance has been pretty disappointing.

Back on topic (sorta) I pricematched at Sears with a receipt from Circuit City, so it does work some places.
