Stopped in my local Sam Goody today and saw this deal there.

Xbox360- Trade in any 2 360 games and get a new 360 game for free.
PS2/Xbox/GC/PSP/DS- Trade in any 4 games and get a new game for free.

Restrictions: Can't mix and match (ie- trade 2 PS2 games and 2 Xbox games and you can't trade 4 Xbox games and get a PS2 game). New game must be 39.99 or less (44.99 or less for 360). Anything that trades in for a penny in their system is ineligible (any sports 2003 or before + a few other titles).

End date: Sept 10th (but some places are honoring it til the end of September)

Notes: The lady mentioned that this was good at all sister stores (Wherehouse, Strawberries, FYE, Coconuts, etc.). Even if your particular store doesn't carry used games, they will still accept them and then transfer them to other stores.

Since there are basically no restrictions, you should be able to bring in any 4 crap games and get a brand new game for them. I will try and answer any questions as best I can. Have at it and enjoy it while it lasts.

PS- I found (and tested) this at the Sam Goody at the Parkway Plaza mall in El Cajon.

I went to my FYE and the guy was a dick!

I gave him 6 PS2 games to choose from:

Lethal Skies II
ESPN Football 2K4
NFL 2K2
American Chopper 2
Rocket Power
and College Hoops 2K5

He said he could only take American Chopper because the rest were in "poor" condition, even though I have never played College Hoops or Rocket Power.

And he would't take Xbox either.
I scored with this sale like no other sale before. I brought in 36 games purchased
at Circuit City that had been collecting dust in return I received the following list of games:
Mario Party 7
Odama
Eye toy with Kinetic
Flatout 2
Shadow of the Colossus
Kingdom Hearts II
Call of Duty 2 Big Red One
The Godfather
and Hitman Bloodmoney

I am so happy to be able to pick up current new games and get rid of junk. I
never can afford to walk in and pick up games. Its such a nice change. They sure didn't have much of a variety. This was at a local Sam Goodie store no question on the games didn't reject any except four that had all those blockbuster stickers and such on them.
:applause: Nice. I already ditched most of the clearance games I bought and the games I don't want I'm better trading or ebaying (such as .hack Quarantine of Fatal Frame II).

Here are some $19.98 XB360 games at CompUSA to possibly use towards this deal. A new 360 game for $40 ain't bad:

Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires
College Hoops 2K6
Madden 06
NHL 2K6
Ridge Racer 6
NBA Live 2006
Quake 4 (YMMV)

Coconuts employee won't take back anything cuz there's minor scratches... so anal...

Went to FYE, couldn't get Kingdom Hearts 2 cuz it was over $40. However, I was able to get games for any system. So I ended up getting Onimusha:DoD, Lemmings, and Valkyrie Profile PSP for bunch of Xbox/PS2 2k5 sports titles. Thanks OP!

I'm really glad this goes until atleast the 10th. There is no way I can afford this right now (I have $10 to my name) but once I get paid, I can go to EB and get some cheap games, and have a field day. People, keep posting games you've traded in, the more games we know the less we can spend! I called my FYE to make sure they're doing it, and they said yes, so I'm all set. Awesome.

Went to to the FYE @ Merritt Island - they had the deal going... but the only two new games they had were Ant Bully and Kingdom Hearts 2. Nothing on the shelf but crap. I was pretty shocked that they would have such a bad selection of games.

Turned down earlier at FYE, decided to hit a Sam Goody in the area. Person there was very cool. At first he knew nothing of the deal, but he checked their promotion's list and found it (couldn't read the fine print). Here is what I traded and received:

ps2- Power Drome, Legacy of Kain, Gladiator, Gladius for Black

360- Kameo & Ridge Racer for Madden 07

After that I went to EB and bought Madden 06 ($14.99) & NHL 2K6 ($17.99) for the 360 and went back to Sam Goody for Dead Rising.

I am going back tomorrow with some more ps2 games and PSP games.

They are not accepting xbox games, he didn't see it on the promotion.

I was denied at the bronx fye. didn't really give me a hard time just basically said no since they are old games. I will try the cocnuts tomorrow or on monday.

If all of that stuff is 49.99 you could return it and have over 450 in credit (if they give you back the tax. Almost enough for a PS3 :O
BEST DEAL EVER!

2x Powerdrome Racing (all $2.00 at pawn shop)
So I could try buying games from CC's bargain bin and trading them in?

I might try this at the FYE in Mission tomorrow..

After reading most of the posts, it seems that FYE is the place giving folks the hardest time with games. Sam Goody and the other affiliates are only receiving the message in their company promotion list ie. very small fine print (games only $44.99, $39.99 and under). Everyone's best bet is to go to the affiliates and do their trading because they can't read the fine print. The exceptions are finding employees who don't care about the .01 games or the price limits. Good luck, that is totally YMMV.

When you are trading in the games, they ask you to set up an account. I seriously doubt they would give you credit on games they gave you for free.
When you are trading in the games, they ask you to set up an account. I seriously doubt they would give you credit on games they gave you for free.
Just come in and ask if you can return them before the 30 days is up. They'll tell you they can only give you credit and then they will put them on one of their gift cards. At least thats where it worked at the FYE I go to.

I'm in Ohio and the FYE I went to basically just gave me $45 credit toward a new 360 game for trading in 2. We have a used dvd and video game place around here called The Exchange so I went there and picked up Madden 2006 for $10 and NBA Live 2006 for $15, then took them to FYE and traded in for Saints Row. Also at FYE, if you have their backstage pass card you save 10% on everything in the store so that knocks $6.00 off any new 360 game. So, the Saints Row ended up costing me $13.50 after tax. When you factor everything in I ended up saving about $20.
Just to confirm.. SUNCOAST is a sister store from sam goody right?
Yeah, but they don't sell any games do they? I have a SUNCOAST or two around me.

Suncoast should be a sister store. I know they were a few years ago, and I don't see why they'd split off.

Anyways, I just got back form the mall, and I made off like a bandit.
The story:
Sam Goody and EB are right next to eachother in my mall (convenience). I went into EB and picked up 4 $2 used sports games, plus a new copy of Max Payne 2, while I was there; totaly cost: $10, plus tax. I painstakingly pealed all the stickers off of the used games games, then made over to Sam Goody. All 4 of the sports games were rejected, but the manager there was pretty nice, and said I should try back with some other games.
I went back over to EB and exchanged the sports games for 2 more new copies of Max Payne and 2 copies of Powerdrome, all $1.99. I went back, and not only were they accepted, but the guy offered to give me extra trade-in, because the copy of Max Payne was new (they were both new, but one was the display model). So, I got Capcom Fighting Evolution, as well as a $12.71 gift card, for what was apparantly the left-over value of my trade.

Anyways, the bottom line is...

Money payed: $10.81
CAW swag: Capcom Fighting Evolution, Max Payne 2, and a $12.71 Sam Goody Gift card.

If you count gift cards as cash, I actually made money in this deal. Woot! :whistle2:D
Just got back from the Wheaton, MD FYE and they said they are not honoring the deal on weekend. They had the signs posted in the front of the store and all along the gaming section. Needless to say I am pissed I drove up there and some snot kid told me to come back during the week or try the store in Greenbelt (hate Greenbelt, way too ghetto). Time to call management and complain.
The fucking idiots at the Louisville Mall St. Mathewes location told me tonight that USED games aren't eligble. Even thoug the store manager last night said they were! fucking A$$holes! No matter, just take them to EB/GS for the new 3 for $10 deal. fuck FYE, fuck em!

i agree! my experience there was terrible today, if it wasnt for the rain i would fight to get a new game.. i thought it'd be a smooth trade with no problems, and i gave them games that virtually had no scratches on them.. anyways, the cleark had the wait for the manager and the fuckin manager said "i can't take any of these games cause they're old and just gonna sit here and collect dust and i really have limited space." my wife was upset.. they really are assholes.. i would love to call the customer service for this.

Whats the point of a 'special' if they don't want to take certain games because they won't sell. Who is going to trade in 4 brand new recent release movies to get another brand new recent release?

I'll try Warehouse tomorrow...I have a dozen shitty movies I wouldn't mind trading.
So I could try buying games from CC's bargain bin and trading them in?

I'm pretty sure the FYE in Mission doesn't carry games (but I could be mistaken)

I called my FYE today and they said that I wouldn't be able to do 4 Xbox for 1 360. I was hoping I would. Oh well seeing as I will just go to Gamerush and buy 6 or 8 of the cheapest 360 games with my 180 in credit so I can get Dead Rising, Saints Row, Battlefield 2, and/or Test Drive.

I traded in 8 ps2 games and 8 xbox games and got
Kingdom Hearts 2
MLB The Show
Hitman Blood Money (360)
Prey (360)
They had to Used buy adjust me 190 dollars!!!
They said the 360 games were ok to get with xbox games!!!
needless to say, I'll be going back soon.

went to fye in chula vista tonight and traded kameo and perfect dark zero for ninety nine nights. they wouldn't honor 4 xbox games for a brand new one though. i didn't argue because the does only say "ds, psp, ps2" and nothing about xbox. i think i'll try sam goody tomorrow.
Definatly YMMV on this deal...

I had a copy of Kameo, and a copy of PDZ. I wanted Saints Row. Since I'm in San Diego, I went to the Sam Goody's in Mission Valley, after calling ahead, and the manager there took a look at the sign, and interpreted it as meaning "trade in two games, and use the money towards a purchase of a new one." Essentially, no real deal, as my games were worth $25. So, I headed to another Sam Goody's, downtown. There, after about 30 minutes of the manager looking for the paperwork and trying to figure out how to do the deal, he rang in the trade in values of each game at 29.99 and 30.00 respectively, so I got Saint's Row for the price of tax, around $5.00.

It was a hassle to ride around and do this, but given the right employees, they'll let you get a $60.00 360 game for two old ones. I suggest calling ahead, and making sure that they know about the deal, and that they'll honor it. At both places, I was the first one to try the deal, hence all the confusion.

BTW, I know I should have gotten Dead Rising instead, or another game that THQ hasn't released region free that's available for $40.00 on Play Asia, but I wanted Saint's Row yesterday; I'm happy with my decision, so don't hassle me on that note.
The Parkway Plaza Sam Goody (I know, extremely trailer trash / ghetto) dosn't make you pay tax, takes any 360 game, and gives you your choice for free.

Can a new game you buy at FYE (by buy I mean traded for 4 used games, of course), be exchanged for a different title if it's still sealed?

I want Lego Star Wars II (PS2), can't use trades on a pre-order (that answers someone's question a few posts/page up), but I don't want to wait until the 12th to trade.

I'm thinking of grabbing Onimusha 4 or Hitman:Blood Money now and seeing about exchanging it later if they'll do it. Same price, diff. game. I don't see why it wouldn't work other than their uptight employees with YMMV policies.

BTW: I was told at my FYE that the deal should be good until at least the 20th if not the end of the month. They only change out their deals whenever they get a new "deal binder", and they just got the latest one a few days ago (right before the start of the new 4/1 deal).

i'd pick that sam goody over the rich snobby sam goody in fashion valley mall.

Sweet! I'll take cheap over class any day...uh, don't let the gf know I said that...

Thanks for the heads up! I'm going to find some cheap 360 games, and head over and get Dead Rising. Everyone else, good luck!

Apparently the folks at my FYE don't know how to answer the phone. The store is really unorganized and the employees are 40 year old, ex-welfare recipients that act like you've ruined their days if you try and buy something, so I'm definitely, definitely going to try and get ahold of them via phone before I run into the mall.

This will be a great deal if it works out though. 30 second drive between the K-Mart chock full o' $2 games and FYE. :)

My buddy took in Perfect Dark and Madden 06 and got Prey, not only did she have to look through paperwork to find out about the deal at Sam Goody but she also didn't notice the $44.99 rule. Hopefully I can go tomorrow and get Kingdom Hearts 2.

Used Gamestops 3 for $10 DVD and picked out some crappy DVD's I had and was able to grab The Tick vs. Season 1, The Office Season 1, Nip Tuck Season 1, and The Tick Season 1 Live Action.

Just go to the EB or Gamestop in the mall, both have plenty of Madden's and other cheap games. But be careful, only 1 copy left of Dead Rising as of Friday.

The guy on the phone told me I could trade in ANY PS2 titles for the deal. Yet when I got there my titles got rejected.... fuck 'em anyway. I'll be able to get their $40 or less game for $5 or less in a few weeks or so anyway.

Well, I just called my local FYE. I ask if they were doing the "trade 4 used games get 1 new one free" and the lady who answered said they were only doing it for 360 games.

I'm still tempted just to go over there and check. And do all Circuit Cities have bargain bins? I can't seem to find one in my CC... Where are they usually located? BTW, I live in Bethesda, MD.

I went to the Coconuts in Greenburgh yesterday. The first girl didn't even know they accepted trade ins and then she called over the other girl working there. She said I could only receive a PS2 game if I traded in PS2 games and Xbox games weren't included since it wasn't on the sign. I ended up walking out without getting anything since they didn't have a game I wanted that was over 20 bucks. They did have Tekken: DR and Valkyrie Profile so I might just go back and try it again tomorrow.

Has anyone tried the Sam Goody in the Galleria(White Plains) or the FYE in the Westchester Mall(White Plains)?

yeah im headed there right after this post.

My FYE wouldn't let me get DVDs more than 26.99 and pay the difference like i hoped. Thus basically makes the DVD part of the deal pure shit, since almost nothing is 26.99 or under.
I did trade in Soul Calibur 2, Aggressive Inline, Finding Nemo(disc only but with cover printout in a case), and F-zero for a Valkyrie Profile for PSP - so that made it worth the trip.

went back with dvds again, and got 3 TV sets that were exactly 26.99 - Veronica Mars Season 1, Nip Tuck S2, and O.C. S2(to either sell, or exchange later for Lost or Supernatural)

The Warehouse I went to wouldn't let me trade 4 current-gen titles for a 360 game, but they were still pretty cool. They said I could trade it for any current-gen title, didn't matter how much it was. Unfortunately, the only new title that was still stickered at $49.99 was Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (PS2). I got that just to sell. I traded in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2x (Xbox), Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 (NGC), Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (Xbox) and Fantastic 4 (NGC). THPS2X came up as a penny in their system, but they still let me do it since the other three titles I traded in came up at least $1. I also traded in Perfect Dark Zero LE and Ridge Racer 6 for Madden 07 for 360. I tried trading in 4 DVDs, but they were limiting me to $26.99 or under for new ones. Couldn't get Sin City Extended :(

I like the showing of San Diego CAGers in here. Though I'm a foreigner (from the east coast, New England), its nice to see a bunch of us cheap ass bastards from SoCal!

wherehouse music in okla city on NW expressway let me trade in ridge racer 6 and PDZ for dead rising today each cost me 14.99.

on an aside is it just me or 360 games plummetting in price?

just looking at my stack, in the past couple of weeks i have got through various deals and sales ALL NEW and SEALED:

1. tomb raider legend 24.99 (BB with GGC)
2. ridge racer 6 14.99 (BB with GGC)
3. kameo 14.99 (BB with GGC)
4. dead rising 30 bucks (TRU B2G1)
5. ncaa 2007 30 bucks (TRU B2G1) (long story, but had to return one duplicate game and they messed up and gave me full credit back so two games cost me $60)
6. saint's row 30 bucks (wherehouse trade 2 get 1)
7. call of duty 2 GOY edition 32.50 (CC today with 110% PM)
8. condemned 29.99 (ebgames pricematched today's BB ad and used store credit from GR--->EB credit conversion...29.99 me about 13 bucks in cash)
