Transformers Movie - DVD & HD DVD Sales Break Records
I think it might have been him too.. Either additional dialog scenes where cut or his dialog wasn't written into the script that would show that he would take advantage of Megatron's situation and try to
double cross him by firing at him while being an F22 jet.
. This would be a nod to the G1 series at he would always try to find a way to dethrone megatron whenever he could.
And it would be a lot more like the DS's Decepticon game plot. Maybe we have to buy every piece of Transformers the Movie media to unlock the plot of the movie!

I had no problem with the product placements. I actually preferred it, knockoffs in movies is the shit that bothers me.
While I do agree there was a good deal of product placement, I don't think any of it was really excessive except for th possibly the GMC logo.

They were all items we use in our daily life. Its not like that scene in Wayne's World where he says, "Want a Pepsi? Its the taste of a new generation." And then he's eating Dominos and gives thumbs up. Then theres Doritos. It was all horribly out of place product placement. Granted it was done intententionally...

But is it really that odd to see someone coming out of a store with a 360 or to see a popmachine on the sidewalk? What about the SD card? If they zoomed out too far, you wouldn't have known it was an SD card and she was sticking it in her makeup. And eBay is everywhere. Were they supposed to make up another way for him to sell his glasses online?

Yea, there were a lot of name brands used in the movie, but its shit we see all day everyday anyways. How weird would it look if they went out of their way to exclude any name brands?

Atleast they didn't do shit like, "Hand me your remarkably reliable Nokia cellphone that you got for 29.99 with a two year contract from our nations leading cellular service, Verizon Wireless!"

While it was product placement, it was hardly a stretch or forced.
QFT. That's what I've been saying all along, or trying to, you worded it better.

BTW: Guess I was the only one that liked the GMC logo popping up on Ironhide's grill. I thought it looked cool and it gave me a chuckle.
About Megatron...
Earlier in the film, Optimus mentioned that if they could not stop Megatron, that he or someone would have to put the cube into his chest. The cube's power is so great that not any one robot can harness it without killing themselves, in Optimus' case, sacrificing himself. So when Sam shoved it into Megatron, even he couldn't handle the power and thus died.
Ah, ok, I caught that blurb when Prime said it, I just thought he said
to put the cube in Prime, so I was expecting that when he'd do that it'd cause some sort of explosion that'd take the two out. I couldn't understand why it was so contained since I was under the impression Prime would do some sort of suicide run at Megatron with the cube in him.

Anyways i just heard the cagcast, you called Frenzy RATCHET by accident lol!!

did anyone catch what prime said to Sam and Mikeala just before he picked them up?? I couldn't understand it during both showings :(

I feel the same way. Its the same reason I don't mind advertisements in video games, it gives it a better sense of realism. We have advertisements all around us everyday. Besides, I'd rather have real products in a movie/game rather than "OK Cola" or "Acme Trucks"...

Lol I loved what you just said about verizon. Yes it's true, product placement wasn't forced on us, but notable. You could also consider this a recruitement ad for the armed forces. Join us so you can be one of the bad asses who blew the shit out of robots!!

Yeah, I know I got my names mixed up there. I always forget Frenzy's name for some reason and think it starts with an "R" due to Rumble.

About the clan thing, I think you should just click a button that says "join" and then I just have to go and accept you.

anyone notice at the end of the movie
Ironhide dropped off the army guy to his wife, who the guy didn't talk about at all after Blackout's attack then rejoined prime. For a minute there I thought Ironhide was going to be the army guy's guardian
did anyone catch what prime said to Sam and Mikeala just before he picked them up?? I couldn't understand it during both showings :(
I was just watching that scene like 6x's and I can't figure out what he says either. Sounds like "lets kick cat", I know its not that but that's all I could get out of it.

As far as the Starscream question earlier.
It seems that there's three jets headed for Megatron. Starscream being the 2nd one in line, 2 of them fly by and then you see a missle right behind them hit Megatron. Its unsure of if its one of the jets fired it and flew past it??? Or if the 3rd jet that they fired it but they didn't show. Regardless, its still left too wide open, It could have been Starscream.

Anyone know how to find out what some of the instrumental songs playing in the movie where called? it is not on the soundtrack.

I thought he was going to say, quick climb up on me or something like that.

Starscream is the kind of fucker who would do such a thing.

Also it's obvious Megatron will return. I just it isn't too contrived. I'm imagining a cliffhanger ending for Part 2 ala Pirates and Matrix with Part 3 to wrap up everything. I just hope they don't bring in Unicron until the fourth film.
you mean the songs bumble bee uses to communicate with his radio?
No the song that is played when that kid is saying "THIS IS BETTER THAN ARMADGEDON" and some of the fight scene music. Not the linkin park stuff.

I'm actually fairly convinced it wasn't Starscream. I watched it for the 3rd time tonight, and from what I saw, he was being followed by the 2 remaining jets. When Megatron begins getting shot, you can see only 2 jets flying by. I assumed that Starscream got away, and the 2 jets went back to their objective. However, if they decided to say it was Starscream for the 2nd movie, I wouldn't be surprised.

Also, panasonic I have the same question about that song and the other music.

The "war" music is amazing. Particularly the music they play in the film when they start to scramble the jets to get to City 22.

I am shocked that none of it made it to the soundtrack

update

i found out the music was by steve jablonsky he did music for metal gear too. However i still don't know the name of the tracks in the movie. He recorded 90 minutes worth of score for transformers XD

everyone else the music in this video is a sample
http://www.transformersmovie.com/public/video_files/transformers_turnsoutalienrobot_sml.mov

No date on when the score comes out but internets say soon.

the score sounds like Trevor Rabin's work, but it isn't. Believe me, I know, I have most of his works in my soundtrack collection. Yes they need to release the full cd score on 2 cd's NOT ONE..but knowing record labels, we will only get 70 minutes of the music :(

Anyone with half a brain can tell from watching the trailers and commercials, it's not for kids. It's aimed at the guys who grew up with TF.
Oh yeah, that must be why TRU has mountains of toys, shirts, backpacks, etc. with TF on them. Don't kid yourself, it's marketed to kids and the PEOPLE (not just guys) who grew up with them.

Each parent has to decide what's right for their kids. I took my 6 year old, because he's seen movies before, and he's not sensitive to onscreen violence. We have discussions about how in movies it's staged, no one gets hurt, etc. Also, knowing it was violence between robots made things easier. Human to human violence seems far more real. While I'd never let my kid play an M game, there are many gradations in the T rated games, mainly because those who rate games don't play them. They rely on the synopsis.

For instance, I didn't let him see the Harry Potter movie where the werewolf and the dog engage in hand-to-hand combat. That's more real and scary. My kid's only concern was when the soldiers were running around and things were going off over their heads. But he thought it was quite cool, and I was able to impart some TF wisdom.

I'll agree since I made that post like.....a month ago and have no idea in what context I was saying it.

I loved this movie for two reasons.

1. It was a fun movie overall with plenty of things from every angle to keep you interested.

2. Its helping provide a nice springboard to the entire Transformers franchise, sure Transformers has been going off and on for over 20 years (including the Japanese exclusive shows) but this the first time we've seen the franchise get this much coverage and merchandise in stores in a long time.

Personally, im hoping this will open the doors for more TF fiction to finally make an appearence in the US, like Beast Wars II and NEO..

I'll copy my post from another forum. I pretty much hated this movie and I'll give you 10 reasons why:

1. As soon as the Transformers started speaking, it turned me off big time. Especially the one that was talking like a black dude and said "whut up beeeotch". Ugh.

2. The insane amount of product placement. A guy holding a 360 suddenly finds that his newly purchased console transforms into a transformer, while playing the 360 bootup music. Behind him, a mountain dew soda machine also turns into a transformer. Lets not forget that slow close up shot of the girl inserting her Panasonic SD Card into the computer! Bleh.

3. The embarresing dialog, especially between Transformers. It's as if this movie was made for children, but ten minutes ago we had the word "shit" spoken several times and had a conversation about masturbation.

4. The story was dumb.

5. The first 45 minutes or so was pretty decent, then it went down hill badly.

6. Action sequences were confusing, too fast, unfocused, and boring. My father (who is an action movie junkie) went with us and actually fell asleep in the theater. This guy is notorious for loving bad movies too, and even HE hated it.

7. Too long and had too many pacing issues. It had too much uninteresting downtime.

8. Shameful acting from John Tuturro (sp?) and John Void. Even Anthony Anderson had some shameful dialog and delivery and I consider him a good actor.

9. The little hacker robot. He annoyed me on a Jar Jar Binks level.

10. The ending. I won't go into it, but I hated the dialog in the ending.

So yeah, I pretty much hated this flick.

Well of all the summer movies I watched this year, I like this film better than Spiderman 3. I give is a mild thumbs up.

Michael Bay is not a great director though and he doesn't handle the parts with the humans very well. I have to give credit to Shia (whatever his name is) for doing a decent acting job despite the fact had no material to work with.

I was going to get upset, but I noticed those two little nuggets and realized I could discount everything you said.

As for what I thought about the movie, I said this to my dad: I waited twenty years for this movie, and it was worth every second. I nearly cried at the end, TF was such a part of my childhood.

Although it was a good movie, the camera angles turned me off big time. I didn't know what was happening half the time, then all of a sudden it would be over and I was wondering what I just watched. I know the scenes were suppose to be chaotic and some camera shaking, but it was like that had a camera man with parkinsons while in an earth quake.

You must have seen a different movie, because I haven't talked to a person yet who hasn't bitched about the terrible camera angles in the action sequences. As for Anthony Anderson, go watch The Departed, Hustle & Flow, and his parts in The Shield. He's actually a pretty good actor, he must be if Martin Scorsese cast him in a movie.

I would hope you like this better than Spiderman 3. That thing joined the ranks of my most hated films of all time. Utter trash.

On Transformers news, I just got back from my 4th viewing...ridiculous I'm aware.

As a fan of big, dumb summer action flicks (and a long-time fan of the Transformers), I thought it was great. There are some major logic holes that bother me though...

So Sam and the military have this all-powerful cube which the Decepticons will lay waste to the world to get their hands on. So what does military guy suggest? "There's a city nearby. We can hide it there." Great, take it into a heavily populated area with the Decepticons in close pursuit.

And once in the city, military guy suggests taking the cube to the top of a building where Sam can hand it to a military chopper that will take it away and keep it safe. Uh, two of the Decepticons can turn into jets, I don't think a helicopter's going to outrun them...

There were other problems, but those two really stick in my craw. I still enjoyed it, but I'll have to remember to shut my brain off completely next time I see it.

Fights are chaotic. I don't expect to see everything. Car chases are chaotic. I don't expect to see everything.

Fights and car chases aren't supposed to be seen from an RTS-perspective. Don't go into a movie expecting to see which knuckle hits the bad guy first and you'll enjoy the movie a lot more.

And Anthony Anderson is a very mediocre actor. Isn't he supposed to be in jail?

you have no idea how much I agree with you there
yea lets take it to a city FULL of people. and then, we will hide it somewhere..OoooooooooKkk..If you watch carefully there were a number of times a decepitcon was near sam and the cube but they just take off. Like for instance, Starscream transformed into his robot mode, skid landed, knocked a few cars over near Sam and doesn't bother to just grab the cube and take off.
no...we just get GET TO THE CHAAAPA. I noticed this on my first viewing, like ok how are they going to outrun two Decepitcon jets??!?!? Wouldn't a fight on open ground be better? The people in that city were damn lucky that the Decepitcons didn't say "Give us the cube or we will kill the humans!!!"

I just figured they were more focused on fighting the autobots and didn't notice it was actually Sam.

The director wanted a Human PoV of what was going on. I am truly happy that they went with ILM for the effects as they are probably the only effects company out there that could handle such effects. To motion track all that action was just amazing.

I'm seeing it tonight, even though I don't care for hype action movies, this might be good. Impressions later.

holy shit!!

Transformers Sets Off 4th of July Fireworks!
Source: Box Office Mojo, The Weekend Warrior
July 8, 2007

The ComingSoon.net Box Office Report has been updated with studio estimates for the weekend. Be sure to check back on Monday for final figures based on actual box office.

After making nearly $85 million in its first three-and-a-half days, DreamWorks' Transformers held well over the three-day weekend, grossing an estimated $67.6 million and becoming the second-highest opening movie for the 4th of July holiday frame behind Spider-Man 2. In just one week, the Michael Bay action flick has grossed approximately $152.5 million--just over its reported $150 million budget--and it's trailing just behind the original Spider-Man in terms of total gross for its first week. By comparison, Warner Bros.' romantic comedy License to Wed, starring Robin Williams, brought in an additional $10.4 million over the weekend after its $7.4 million over the holiday, ending up in fourth place in its first weekend.

wow you give meaning to the word uptight and a hater. this was a big thing for everyone they had comedy, action, mature content and the original voices they had to build up the story in what little time they had everyone LOVED the movie after the movie the whole theatre was cheering and clapping and some we're still laughing. you need to lighten up a little seriousely, no one ever said this was mainly for adults if you didn't notice most of the cartoons have this kind of dialouge and comedy i'm a die hard transformer fan since i was 4 yrs old my parents. i was disappointed that not many recognizable autobots or deceptacons where there but they had their own damn language and left the movie with a cliffhanger meaning this isn't over.

but long story short get over yourself it's a movie live a little no one forced you to watch it.

also the camera angle was great made me feel like i was there detailed effects very well done. as for products in the movie come on wtf dude? like as if you don't see these things everyday in your life what the hell did you expect the spark to liven up while the kid was running through pedastrians a genera game system some out of this world computer product a vending machine that we never even heard of? the product placement was funny and it showed what would happen if this daily devices in our lives were to come alive after supposedly from what the government said they created all those devices from what they researched in megatron.

but i know its to be expected that there would be haters like you around there always is and some ones gotta do it lol so kudos to you for being on your way to anger management

if you haven't noticed
they didn't know what other decepticons there were they clearly stated it when they were calling in the bombing and found out that they were being shot at by there own fighter jets. they knew of the helicopter but not starscream and neither about the tank. it was really dumb to take it into a city and indanger everyone's life but clearly it just build up more action by fighting in the city imagine a fight in some remote desert or some forest not much drama or action there it would have been a once sided fight decepticons win and autobots lose the end cause they were unmatched even with the military force backing them up.

why are you all being such hard critics on this movie? come on its the damn transformers we've been waiting for this obviousely if your a long time movie goer you know it's not gunna have everything that everyone wants because everyone has their own opinion my kid brother even my parents who lack in this kinda stuff loved the movie my mother who sleeps half the time in the movies stayed awake she loved the comedy the drama and the action

i'm sure if the little kid in you were there that night he would hate you for being such a hard ass. back when we were kids we loved the cool robots transforminng saving the day beating up the baddies. what ever happend to enjoying that kind of stuff. instead of raping the heroes that we onced love. my rambling might not make much of a difference but maybe i can get a word out to everyone out there cause i'm tired of hearing all of you complaining especially to a movie like this that we as a kid would die for and die again after watching it. just enjoy it for what it is and live a little hollywood can't please everyone at once get over it.

#1. You need to calm down. He said he loved the movie and had one major gripe, a gripe I agree with, and you go off on him. He can't love the movie and also notice the obvious flaws the film has (there's alot) What, are you going to complain about me now? Someone' who's seen this movie 4x in the first week? This movie has a shit ton of flaws, but I still think it's an awesome movie. But some of the complaints people have are valid, sorry we don't simply share your absolute blind love?

Transformers Reaches $246.1 Million Worldwide
Source: ComingSoon.net
July 8, 2007

In addition to its $152.5 million earnings from the first 6 1/2 days domestically, Michael Bay's Transformers has also brought in $93.6 million in 23 other countries where the movie has opened since June 28. That brings the worldwide total to $246.1 million in just a little over a week. Not bad for a movie which reportedly cost $150 million to make (not counting advertising dollars)!

The robots' box office steamrolling should continue for a couple more days until Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix hits conventional theaters and IMAX theaters starting at 12:01am on Wednesday.

fuck HARRY POTTER, Spend THIS WEEK SEEING TRANSFORMERS AGAIN!!!
wow you give meaning to the word uptight and a hater. this was a big thing for everyone they had comedy, action, mature content and the original voices they had to build up the story in what little time they had everyone LOVED the movie after the movie the whole theatre was cheering and clapping and some we're still laughing. you need to lighten up a little seriousely, no one ever said this was mainly for adults if you didn't notice most of the cartoons have this kind of dialouge and comedy i'm a die hard transformer fan since i was 4 yrs old my parents. i was disappointed that not many recognizable autobots or deceptacons where there but they had their own damn language and left the movie with a cliffhanger meaning this isn't over.

but long story short get over yourself it's a movie live a little no one forced you to watch it.

also the camera angle was great made me feel like i was there detailed effects very well done. as for products in the movie come on wtf dude? like as if you don't see these things everyday in your life what the hell did you expect the spark to liven up while the kid was running through pedastrians a genera game system some out of this world computer product a vending machine that we never even heard of? the product placement was funny and it showed what would happen if this daily devices in our lives were to come alive after supposedly from what the government said they created all those devices from what they researched in megatron.

but i know its to be expected that there would be haters like you around there always is and some ones gotta do it lol so kudos to you for being on your way to anger management
... nevermind. How the hell do I even respond to this? Who said I was forced to watch it? Geez, I've never seen so many people get so damn defensive over the fucking transformers. It was a bad movie, I didn't enjoy it, YOU get over YOURSELF. I was hyped to see it just as much as anybody was. I pretty much had the same opinion that Shipwreck had and nobody is tearing him apart. This is the only forum I've been to where people aren't completely hating on this movie.

Great news ITDEFX! I was really hoping it would kill Spider-Man's record, but a close 2nd is still damn good. Maybe we can beat Spidey with the sequel :D

You say that as if we are supposed to care.

my question is, why are they comparing it to spiderman (whichever)?.. remember some places don't adjust for ticket price inflation over the years so this movie could be just as even as spiderman back then.

Wooo! I finally saw it! And it was AWESOME!

I thought the fight scenes were great! There weren't hard to follow at all!

Optimus Prime cutting Bonecrusher's head off was totally merciless and AWESOME. Why didn't he use the sword against Megatron?

All the Autobots jumping Devastator was awesome as well. Very cool action scene.

I wish that the Decepticons had more characterization, though. And there were too many human scenes, IMO.

I',m hoping for less of a "family film" for the next one and more action!

It'd been more believable if he was turning in his 360 because he got the rings of death.
