Transformers Movie - DVD & HD DVD Sales Break Records

Went to the midnight showing with a group of friends.. it was over-sold, so some people had to sit in the floor. I loved it. I'll probably be going back to see it again.

And might I add that Megan Fox is completely just.. fucking *rub your eyes*/"is this a dream?" type of hot.

//edit: I just saw pictures of her at the premiere.. nevermind!!! good lord. I guess it was a dream.

Thought it was pretty damn good.

Although....it needed about 30% less useless human subplotting and 100% more Starscream development (insubordination, anyone? Inexplicably missing from this film).

I mean.. the crowd even cheered when Bernie Mac Appeared.... What the hell is up with that? I shudder to think what would've happened if they showed Optimus giving Megatron a blowjob.... I think the Frickin arena would've been covered in Semen.

Oh well.....
Saw it again for the 2nd time tonight....might go again this weekend. =D
what the fuck? oh well, it's your money.

I guess it answers the question from the Song in Team America
"Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies?"

That'll be in the sequel. At least it better be anyway...

i almost, ALMOST went to the 12:15 am showing last night... But seeing the same movie twice in so many hours is over kill. If I didn't have a family get together to go to today, I would go see it.

Yeah, those movie premiere pics kinda surprised (more like disappointed) me as well. She's also on the cover of Maxim (July) and her photo shoot there (while undoubtedly helped via Photoshop) is much easier on the eyes. Much easier.

Just saw it this morning. I'm a huge TF nerd and I enjoyed it. A couple nit picky things but I thought it was a good movie. Can't wait for a sequel!!!!

Agreed, Starscream needed more face time, but he was pretty badass. Still the ever loving relationship between Starscream & Megatron seemed to remain intact ;)

Sorry for the double post.

Oh no trust me, I fully realize that the film has a lot of things wrong with it. But the scenes and the lines that are just so bad, I enjoy immensely. The cheese is so over the top it's just right haha.

Like two years ago when I heard Michael Bay was directing, I was pretty upset. But the more I thought about it, and the more he talked about it, the more I bought into his vision for TF. For just balls-to-the-walls action, no one is a better director than Bay, and he showed it in this film. While I thought most of the acting and dialogue was decent, the romance was just "wow this is horrible," but yet so horrible it was amazing.

The dialog could have been Megan Fox meowing for 20 minutes and I wouldn't have cared as long as she was in that tank with the hiphuggers. :bouncy:  :bouncy:

Saw it again last night.

All the advertising still annoyed me since they were shoving it in your face. Should have been A LOT more subtle.

Transformers has biggest Tuesday ever (by almost 2x)
LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Hollywood's box office record books have been transformed.

The sci-fi adventure "Transformers" had an unprecedented Tuesday haul of $27.4 million in its official debut, beating a record of $15.7 million set last year by "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."

"It's the biggest Tuesday ever," said Mike Vollman, spokesman for Paramount, which released "Transformers" along with fellow Viacom Inc. unit DreamWorks. "It's playing very broadly. It's the kind of summer movie that's drawing families and we're very excited for its progress going into the rest of the weekend."

Directed by Michael Bay and based on the Hasbro toys that debuted in the 1980s, "Transformers" chronicles a war between two factions of giant shape-shifting robots that bring their battle to Earth. The human cast costarring alongside the computer-generated robots includes Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Jon Voight, Josh Duhamel and John Turturro.

"Transformers" opened Tuesday in 4,011 theaters nationwide. It also played in preview screenings at 3,050 theaters starting at 8 p.m. Monday, bringing in $8.8 million. Video Watch the stars talk about "Transformers" »
Don't miss

"They had great preview numbers and it's an incredible total for a Tuesday, which is just not known as a big box office day," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers. "The timing on this movie was perfect, with the holiday in the middle of the week. This film has six days plus a preview to stretch its legs."

"Transformers" is positioned to join the ranks of this summer's blockbusters, "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," "Spider-Man 3" and "Shrek the Third," all of which have surpassed or are about to cross the $300 million mark domestically.

A brisk Fourth of July week would help Hollywood recover from a monthlong downturn that followed a huge start to summer in May.

"This could be the movie that transforms the summer back into the blockbuster we were hoping it would be," said Dergarabedian.

I just got back from seeing it, and I thought it was incredible. I'll agree that a little more Starscream would have been nice, but that's what sequels are for (and this one definitely sets up for a sequel).

I don't ever see the same movie twice in theaters - but this is a day-1 purchase when it hits video (hopefully blu-ray).

I saw this yesterday afternoon thought it was pretty well done but I thought that all the humor was excedingly childish and stupid. Other then that I loved the movie and even thought the Special effects in this movie might just have been better then 300.

This movie was epic, I loved it and am probably going to see it again.

I was hoping the same thing, but it's done by Paramount an HD-DVD backer... :(

Paramount supports both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray so it'll be a dual release.

Guhguh... wrong forum on that one (too much Uno).

Anyway, I saw and enjoyed Transformers... moving along now... :)

honestly im not a big transformers fan so i thought the movie was just ok..

the only part that really caught my attention was the xbox 360 scene..that was worth price of admission

i would still buy it however as it will look great on hd dvd
Been Uno'ing to the limit, so I missed the wave of freakin' insanity around here today, but I really want to throw in another vote of support for Shrike.

Outside of Cheapy, I would wager that no one does more for CAG and the community than Shrike. In my time here, I've come to appreciate his style and I think I understand where he's coming from. He catches a lot of crap for some of his decisions, but my impression is that they're always done with the best interests of the forums in mind.

I sincerely hope he doesn't give up. If he does, it will be a huge loss for all of us and could jeopardize the community that we have and the caliber of the discourse.
wrong thread.

I saw it today and thought it fit's the summer blockbuster movies pretty good. The special effect was great, but towards the end it seemed like they cut back a bit. The story well.... it wasn't all that great. There were a lot of funny parts and the action was pretty realistic for CG, in fact the best I’ve seen. Don’t expect academy award material the story from the 1986 version was actually better.

Saw it today and I must say, I was impressed. I wasn't expecting much from a live action TF movie, but wow...

I liked how the vw bug in the used car lot next to the camaro. I thought the voice at the beginning of the movie sounded familiar.

Did they explain how or why the allspark created evil robots? Didn't it originally create the autobot transformers?

I got the movie, and I was watching it again. Seems like the Allspark would make technology evil. I wonder what would It take for the Autobots to use the Allspark to their advantage. Here's the screenshot of the X360 and Mt. Dew vending machine...notice the red eyes...

EDIT: I still plan on seeing this in theaters atleast 2 more times. This weekend will be my 2nd. Hopefully the weekend after as well.

i doubt the allspark is evil. I wish they would have explained something like, if the users spark is evil, then it will help to create evil machines or something like that.

the voice they used for the intro was Peter Cullen. Victor Caroli was the narrator for the original series and the animated movie. For the sequel, they should bring him onboard for the movie.

I'm sure its not evil, but when Sam fell and the Allspark hit the floor, it caused that sonic boom and nearby electronics went crazy. Mt. Dew vending machine has red eyes. In the movie, all Decepticons had red eyes and Autobots had blue eyes. I personally would have loved if the XBOX360, Mt. Dew vending machine, and the Escalade transformed and fought alongside of the Autobots, they were outnumbered as it was.

Movie blew my fucking mind. I expected it to bomb, hard. Terrific movie.. I'm like the biggest Spider-man fan, and this blew Spidey 3 out of the water.

movie was ok i like the explosions and how nice they combined the robots with the humans. But i didn't get the end, ( i have never seen a transformer cartoon before) Anyone want to explain
Wasn't optimus suppose to get the cube in his chest, why did he put it in megatron and why did he die? Wasn't he suppose to get stronger if he took the cube?

ALSO GODZILLA 08 WOOT

Amazing movie.

Honestly, if you are an individual that did not enjoy this movie yet you claim to like transformers, then GTFO and learn to enjoy things for what they are.

A friend that I saw it with pointed out the logic behind this to me. They say when they first show that they have had Megatron frozen that all current technology is based on things they've backwards engineered from studying him. So if all technology is based off of Megatron, who is evil, then if it's brought to life it would naturally be evil as well.

Subtle point, but makes sense. I personally just loved the irony of someone being attacked by a 360. :p

Well, not in this movie. The whole time Optimus was talking about sacrificing himself, because it was too much energy to handle for one bot.

In the original movie, Hot Rod took the matrix from Optimus and became all badass.

Saw it earlier and I know pretty much nothing about transformers but that movie fucking rocked so dam hard!!

I have never seen a movie twice in theaters but I plan on going to see this again this weekend just because it was that dam good.

Ok, so i was suppose to assume that no robot could handle the power. Right?

Yes, the Autobots needed the Allspark to rebuild their planet Cybertron.

Yes, the Autobots needed the Allspark to rebuild their planet Cybertron.
So why did megatron want the cube? Was it so the autobots could not rebuild the planet and they just stay at earth?
The Matrix and the Allspark are 2 totally differnent things.
I didn't think the Allspark was something that has been around in the series until recently. I don't watch any of the new crap.

EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allspark says that they are the same thing, but there's just different versions of the Matrix.

I dunno, I'm confused now.

I saw this movie and thought it was awesome. I would have liked to see more Robots, but they scenes with it were awesome. Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime was dead on for this movie.
So why did megatron want the cube? Was it so the autobots could not rebuild the planet and they just stay at earth?
In the movie, they tested the Allspark's energy with a phone or camcorder, the one that was in the cube with the little guns. Megatron want's the allspark because he would be able to turn all of our technology against us. Essentially, every electronic device would turn into evil Decepticons, like the Escalade, the XBOX360, Mt. Dew vending machine...etc.

The Allspark is also referred to as "The Matrix", which is a different thing from the other two bearers of the name, which are:
 • The Autobot Matrix of Leadership, the physical talisman of leadership carried by Autobot commanders
 • The facility on Cybertron which produces Maximal protoforms was named after the aforementioned matrix. A similar Predacon facility also exists, named the Pit, and that term is used synonymously with a "bad" afterlife, as Hell is to humans (in the way that the Matrix is also used as a term for the "good" afterlife, as Heaven is to humans), but there is no evidence to substantiate the actual existence of a real Pit afterlife, whereas the Allspark actually does exist. The Pit was known as the Inferno until the late-season addition of the character Inferno resulted in some confusing naming issues, but the character would say on more than one occassion "Burn in the fires of the Inferno Maximals!". Although he could have been refering to himself.

I feel your pain. I saw that the other day on IGN.

It's being made by the same team that makes Teen Titans...

*sigh* Why. WHY can't Hasbro be more careful with the TF license and get a team that wants to bring it back to its former glory versus this Energon, Cyberton shit and now this shit.

what if that
xbox 360 robot
got killed by one of the autobots and before dying made
the red rings of death
lol

;) not to fond of the artwork either but at least the voice cast is good here's the info:

A show for the 6-7 year old fans: Optimus Prime, Megatron, and a host of NEW characters designed by Derrick Wyatt (Legion of Super-Heroes, Teen Titans) will transform the airwaves in 2008 as "TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED" joins the kid-friendly lineup at Cartoon Network. Hasbro and CN will partner on the 2-D ANIMATED series, which offers a new twist on the original 1984 series with each of the 26 episodes presented as a STANDALONE STORYLINE, not set in the Michael Bay Movie universe, featuring EVERYDAY HEROES who do good deeds that triumph over evil. The Autobots (now with even more human qualities/expressions) will battle human super-villains like Nanosec (a Flash on rollerblades), Angry Archer and Prometheus (but a lot less than was originally planned) more often than the Decepticons. Set on Earth in 22nd century Detroit, Michigan, the alien Transformers are thrust into a world populated by humans (Sari and her father Isaac Sumdac, Police Chief Captain Fanzone) and automatons (the TF start the robotics industry by chance). As visitors to Earth, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Prowl,Bulkhead and Ratchet work in the human world, interacting with the 'natives' in exciting and humorous ways. TF Animated has been created to showcase the heroic Autobots working together to battle the evil Decepticons and save Earth with kid-relatable plot lines filled with humor, distinctive character personalities, and dynamic action. The series kicks off as a Saturday morning series in January 2008 before expanding to 5 times a week later in the year. A 90-minute series premiere (The Ark and The Nemesis spaceships are featured + People/places/things/events from Generation One will be mentioned) special is also in the works. The director is Matt Youngberg (The Batman, Teen Titans) and the executive producer is Sam Register (Ben 10, Teen Titans). Marty Isenberg (Danny Phantom, X-Men, TMNT) acts as head writer. The show, co-produced by Cartoon Network Studios, will be supported on TV, as well as through Web-based initiatives and product/promotional partnerships.

Voice Cast: Optimus Prime, Grimlock, Lugnut (David Kaye, Megatron on Beast Wars)

Prowl, Ultra Magnus (Jeff Bennett, Clay Bailey on Xiaolin Showdown/Johnny Bravo on Johnny Bravo/Brooklyn on Gargoyles)

Bumblebee (Bumper Robinson, James on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch/Mondo on Generation X)

Arcee (Susan Blu, Arcee on G1 + She's also the Voice Director of the ensemble recording)

Jazz (Phil LaMarr, Samurai Jack on Samurai Jack)

Blurr (John Moschitta Jr., Blurr on G1)

Bulkhead (Bill Fagerbakke, Patrick on SpongeBob/Dauber on Coach)

Blackarachnia (Cree Summer, Foxxy Love on Drawn Together/Penny on Inspector Gadget)

Starscream, Constructicon (Tom Kenny, SpongeBob on SpongeBob SquarePants)

Megatron, Shockwave, Ratchet (Corey Burton, Spike/Brawn/Shockwave/Sunstreaker on G1)

Garbage Truck Transformer ('Weird Al' Yankovic, guest on one episode only)

I just saw got back from this.

I'm seeing it again next week. It'll be only the second time I'm watching a movie in theaters more than once (the first movie was 300).

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but:

Starscream takes out a whole bunch of planes, it's pretty safe to say he took care of the whole fleet.

But then later we see a Raptor fire a missile at Megatron. I think we're supposed to assume that's Starcream.
