Transformers ROTF: Makes 600 Million worldwide...GI JOE to top it next... :|

I doubt GM wanted him looking different from the real version. Have to keep the product tie-ins up to date.
This also has to be why if any of the robots where scratched up and had battle damage, there car form didn't. I don't think they want to see there cars being blown up or looking like crap on screen. Probably in the contract.
The easiest way to explain bumblebee changing (and the most probable reason) is because that is what the real camaro looks like.

I doubt GM wanted him looking different from the real version. Have to keep the product tie-ins up to date.
But the real Camaro looks like the one from the first movie. I'm wondering if this new Camaro is going to be for 2011 or just some custom body kit on the 2010.

It was ok not as good as I had hoped but few movies ever live up to the hype.

I remember thinking more than a few times that damn this is a slow moving movie. Went outside and realized it was over 2.5 hours later. lol

How the fuck did Steven Spielberg give his "fucking Awesome" thumbs up on this movie? Did Bay give him the clean, non perverted version, then at the last minute added in the crap?
I thought the movie was a typical summer blockbuster. I enjoyed because I was expecting that. All action and I loved it.
Same here. Saw it on Friday and enjoyed it. I really think everyone is jumping on the negativity bandwagon. Yes, I could see where people would be offended (excessive swearing, dog humping x2, stereotypical twins), but most of these things were just small annoyances to me and didn't really take away from all the action that I came to see. Of course this is coming from a non-hardcore fan of Transformers so take that as you will.

I don't see myself as "jumping on the negativity bandwagon". I went in because I wanted to see it and I kept an open mind. I actually wanted it to be good, because that would mean there'd be another one.

The only thing I will say is that because the first movie exceeded my expectations, I had higher expectations going in to see this one.

To me, it was a confusing mess, a bunch of missed opportunities, and a movie focused completely on the wrong things. The complete gutting of the point of the movie -- giant transforming robots -- to focus on boring, and pointless human characters -- would you have watched any of that crap were it not in this movie? -- is a massive disappointment.

Rather than continue to say what I don't like, I will point to what worked. The Shanghai sequence was pretty good. If the whole movie was like that, I think I'd be pleased. It was a little muddled, but it showed off the robots, the transformations, and it integrated the humans into the plot without having them take it over and shove the robots to the side. We got to see a good sampling of the robots and they actually had lines to say and concrete things to do.

Contrast this with, well, the rest of the movie, but in particular, the final action sequence. There's a lot of blowing stuff up, but it's really focused on Sam. We can't even tell who many of the robots are. This entire segment is like a different movie where the robots only have cameos. Or it's like watching Transformers: The Video Game. Random stuff happens. Generic robots everywhere. Stuff blows up. Some of it is cool to watch, but it really doesn't make much sense and it's extraordinarily generic.

It becomes an exercise in being excited when you see something cool (like Devastator or Bumblebee fighting Ravage and Rampage or the Fallen doing, well, anything) and enjoying those moments and then having to sit through the rest of the boring sludge.

But strung together moments don't really make a movie. If it were a really good action movie, you wouldn't just have isolated moments followed by waiting for the good stuff. You'd be too mesmerized, too excited.

Was it really amazing? Did it keep you on the edge of your seat? Surprise you? Make you want to see it all again because you couldn't take it all in? Did you care about what happened to the characters? Were you kept in suspense what would happen to them?

No, not really. Apart from some cool visuals, the rest is all one giant shrug and a waste of time. Which is a shame.

I don't want to hate on it because it's the cool thing to do. I want to express my disappointment because it could have been so much better.

That was a great read. I know the story was shit, but that really put it into perspective.

I also tought the same thing about the 5-6 Primes
that kill themselves to make a tomb for the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. I didn't understand the point. After beating The Fallen why not just take the Sun Exploding machine with you and go back out to space? That way the Earth isn't a target anymore.

Wow if drunks can plop down $400 million for this movie, can you imagine how much GI Joe is going to make in August?!?!? Seriously yo, are movie goer's de-evolving?!?!?

this movie was two hours and 21 minutes of non stop failure. *sigh*

i did like the first, but this one was just silly.

I sure this has been said before, but I have a easier time believing in transforming robots from space before I would believe Megan Fox's character would date Shia LaBeouf's.
I'm pretty sure GI Joe is going to flop.
Sadly I have to agree. The more I see the more worried I get. If Snake Eyes didn't look so cool I'd say this was completly passable.

After walking out of this one, I thought so too...but $400 million from a 200 million budget is sure not a flop in Paramount's/Bay's eyes.... I have no doubt in my mind the next movie will have a near topless Fox, shirtless LeBuff (who Bay will insist he buffs out or else he will kill him off in the first 5 mins of the 3rd movie), or a bikini scene with Fox that is there just to be there.

My friends paid for my ticket, but that two-and-a-half-hours was a waste of my time. fuck Michael Bay and the random crap-fests he calls movies.

Haha, that pretty much sums it all up. I liked this part a lot:

Why would a robot need to fart, pee, or vomit? And why would it need testicles?
Michael Bay does not understand what a robot is.

Why not just put her in a porno? Cheaper, could sell more at higher prices. Win/win imo.

Usually, you buy Rifftrax as downloadable audio files, that you play alongside your DVD of that particular movie.

Director: Megan Fox 'Says Some Very Ridiculous Things'
by Us Magazine    July 1, 2009

Megan Fox slammed "Transformers" director Michael Bay for focusing more on special effects than acting, but he doesn't mind.

"Well, that's Megan Fox for you," Bay tell the Wall Street Journal. "She says some very ridiculous things because she's 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do.

"You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, 'Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it,'" he goes on.

Fox told Entertainment Weekly: "I mean, I can't s--- on this movie because it did give me a career and open all these doors for me. But I don't want to blow smoke up people's a--. People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting."

Bay says he "100 percent disagrees" with Fox.

"Nick Cage wasn't a big actor when I cast him, nor was Ben Affleck before I put him in 'Armageddon.' Shia LaBeouf wasn't a big movie star before he did 'Transformers' -- and then he exploded. Not to mention Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, from 'Bad Boys'," he points out.

Bay thinks Fox could be a little more grateful, though.

"Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in Transformers," he says. "I like to think that I've had some luck in building actors' careers with my films."

Sadly he makes a good point, even if his movies are action special effects blockbusters, they've put a lot of actors on the map. Anyone remember what mvoies Will Smith did before Bad Boys? Me either.

True. It launched his film career, and he went on to make mega hits like Wild Wild West and Hitch.

Plus, he called an album "Big Willie Style"! WHAT?

He was well on the path of becoming a great actor without the help of Michael Bay. WITH PROOF:

The wife was out with her friends tonight so I decided to watch this. This was my first rifftrax but it won't be my last. So many flashback of my teen years and MST3000, thanks for the recommendation but even with the rifftrax it was tough to watch this again even if I was laughing my ass off many times throughout this crap.

I started to check out rifftrax but at 2.99 I find it hard to get them. I guess I won't ever be able to hear them because I'm not paying for commentary unless it is on the dvd with the movie.
its out now. :(
I don't drink dumbass, I saw the movie, I liked the movie, I am going to see the movie again. It's called entertainment. Get a life, because the movie didn't have everything in it you saw as a child.

GI Joe's going to flop because it sucks?

Coming from the mouths of the mindless, tasteless plebes who not only saw "Transformers," but were big enough of mouthbreathers to PAY AND DO IT AGAIN!?!?!

Transformers 2 is a highly profitable shitshow, thanks in no small part to the $6-10 increments each and every one of you paid. GI Joe will be no different.

This is really how ROTF's story unfolds?

Now I kinda wanna see it. And all this talk of Rifftrax makes me want to see the first one now.

hahaha you guys are ridiculous! you guys just bitch and criticize the movie left and right. were not in the f***ing 80's anymore! we have a new generation to please! i mean ok, yeah the movie had parts where they left you confused and there were random autobots like ants everywhere, but it was still a great movie! the wife liked it, and that says a lot because she hates transformers.

i would like to see one of you make your own version of transformers. ill bet any one of you $5000, no joke $5000 that if you made your own movie with a $2 million budget (or a decent budget to make a movie like this believable), the way transformers was suppose to be. it would be a big flop. no one could relate to it...

(i don't mean to offend anyone here, were all fellow cags here, and im not the biggest knowledgeable transformers fan here. but im just sick of people trashing the movie)

I don't think it has to do with the fact that it didn't have much to do with the old cartoon. I don't like that they changed the names of some or the look of most. I do like they changed Optimus and after thinking about it I like how they changed Bumble Bee. however the rest I are hit and miss with me. I don't like it was all GM. I think it would have been better to use the cars they were in the cartoon well most of them. I think the biggest issue people have is the story and lack of transformers. I don't think it was bad the first one was a lot better however this one could have and should have been better then what it was. As a movie was just okey.

Believe it or not, the first Transformers movie was not completely awful. I will not defend it as a good movie, but it showed there was the possibility of a good movie in there. I, like many others who like Transformers (as a toy, as a concept), thought the first movie was going to be embarassingly horrible, and maybe it was because we had such low expectations, but it wasn't that bad.
I hope there will be some fallout from Revenge of the Fallen. I think people are desperately trying to convince themselves that their money and time wasn't wasted.

Although, I do think Transformers and GI Joe, because of the nostalgia thing, attract people who want that hit of nostalgia, but aren't really involved in it or looking for anything deep. I see these people in Target or wherever -- guys who will pick up one of the toys and say "I used to love Transformers" and secretly wish their wife/girlfriend wasn't with them at the moment so they could buy one, or at least look at them longer.

The movie, bad as it is, works for these people because they're not invested. They want to be able to wear that outfit for a couple of hours and take it off, and feel good about doing so. It's almost better if it's unsatisfying or it sucks, because that way, they're not missing anything.

Now that I think about it, this is an implicit theme of the movie. The movie centers around a sad-sack dork, and most of the time, he keeps his robots hidden away in his garage and in a hangar. He actually argues with one of them to go back in the toy closet. I can't go to college or have a porn star girlfriend if I play with robots.
This is really how ROTF's story unfolds?
Yeah, sadly. They didn't have to make up any of the stuff that sounds ridiculously unbelievable and/or stupid.

Um, I can't speak for everyone, but I don't want a filmed version of the cartoon. I want a movie that's somewhat intelligent, fun to watch, and is about transforming robots.

Revenge of the Fallen is braindead, tedious, and is about Hollywood's idea of nerd fulfillment fantasies, decorated only occasionally with CGI robots.

I totally agree with this review, by the same guy who did the hilarious and all-too-true FAQ. He says:

...it became clear that Michael Bay did not and does not give a shit about the Transformers. He's much rather just have shots of jets firing missiles and tanks rolling out and aircraft carrier looming somewhere in the ocean. Frankly, the giant fucking robots basically get in the way of him having shit blow up...It's not about the robots for Bay, which is why they're always pissing and vomiting and farting and humping, because he frankly has no idea what to do with them otherwise.
I honestly pity you if you can "relate" to ROTF.

Suggestions already posted in this thread would have made the movie much better for everyone, including people who don't like Transformers but do want to watch a movie that makes some kind of sense, is entertaining, and has robots and shit blowing up.

That's what happens when the movie is trash. Under just about every critera, it fails. Except, perhaps, if you are an insecure young male who wants to be playing with robots and porn stars but are too fucking cowardly to actually go out and try to acquire either one in the real world, and you want to watch random shit blow up.

Still wanna "relate" to that?

lol wtf? hahahah ok...:applause:

lol, oh my god you have an answer for everything. your like my nerdy brother in law. when i say "relate" i mean young actors like Shia LaBeouf with "cool" hip GM cars. oh and don't forget nokia phones. I mean honestly, you know some kid is probably thinking, ohh cool I have one of those! (not the cars but you get my pitch) that's what I mean, little things in the movie that the younger generation can relate to. not the story itself.

some of the things on here people write are so funny. i think some of you should just stick to deals and not opinions or reviews. SOME of you always have to be right or have the last word like its a chick fight. unbelievable. its like walking on eggshells without pissing someone off because you disagree. well anyway...

hey did anyone of you notice they were doing some serious advertising for the U.S military? I couldn't help but notice. there's something else someone can relate to... the military!!!
