TRU BOGO coming Friday, May 28th *List added - now with prices* + $7.99 games.

CAGiversary!
This one is a bit odd. TRU is trying to clear out its "aged inventory" now. So, for the next month starting Friday, over 800 games are eligible for BOGO. I can't leave work with a list that big without raising some eyebrows. So, give me a bit to somehow get that list if no one else does. I can say with certainty that 99% of the remaining N64, PS1, DC, GBC, NGPC, GG, and even Genesis stock qualifies. Some TRU, somewhere, still has Game Gear and Genesis games, otherwise they wouldn't have been on that list. :)

For PS2, XB, GC, and GBA: They call it "aged inventory," which means it's been discontinued as well. You can actually tell which games have been discontinued by looking at the shelf tags. If there's a lone "X" on the far right of the shelf tag, then TRU will likely not be stocking the item anymore. Every game on the list of 800+ is X-ed out, but I think only older games are on that list. For instance, Prince of Persia for XBox is X-ed out, because TRU doesn't want anymore of them or can't get anymore of them. However, that isn't exactly "aged." Though, I could be wrong and it could be sitting there on that list. I guess I need to just go take a better look at the list. I'm also getting some wires crossed with that big-ass Best Buy blowout from the past couple of days. So, none of that list stuck with me. Whatever. Stay tuned.

Edit by Hoshi: This was just posted today. Also starting on the 28th, all PS1 and PS2 games in the budget program are $7.99. (Those same games that TRU has had BOGO deals for on and off since Christmas.) If your store wasn't cleared out by dealers or some such like mine was, you can still find games like Hitman 2, DMC, VF4 Evo, GT3 A-Spec, Silpheed, Sly Cooper (non-GH), and others I know I'm forgetting. I'm pretty sure they're already picked through by now, after two BOGO deals this year on them. But, I thought some of the newer CAGs would like the heads-up.

What a joke this was for me. First, nothing's marked. So i have the list from this thread, pick out several games. Take them to the counter, the one guy was cool about checking the prices but his buddy was a prick, saying there was no sale and that was last week for the value rack games. So I ask them to just ring them up as a sale (not just price scan them as the BOGO automatically comes into effect only when rung up as a sale) and see if they come up BOGO. Again, the one guy was cool, but his buddy gave me major attitude. So he huffs and puffs with his slicked back greasy hair and rings them up, yeah, not BOGO, not on sale, not anything, leaving me standing there looking like a damn idiot. I hate the ghetto TRU here, everytime I go in there I swear that it's the last time, but I always end up back there for some damn reason.

So From my experience, even though this shouldn't be YMMV, it looks like it is.
I don't think it's YMMV. The cashier actually has to get to the part where they total the amount up. Just ringing two things up won't automatically set off the BOGO, I think the Total button has to be hit, also. Maybe one of the TRU employees can explain it better than I can?
I can confirm that. You have to completely finish the transaction before the BOGO shows up. So you have to hand over the cash/swipe the card for it to work.
i would just buy it anyways b/c if you have any problems, you can return it right away :) there's no shame, hehe. :D

Just when to TRU during lunch. Came back empty handed. They had a bin full of red tagged BOGO, but all crap, like 2001 sports games. They had a separate section of $7.99 games, but BOGO doesn't apply to them. Nothing really worth of interest. With gas being so pricey lately, I feel gyped of my time and money. I may check out a different TRU on my way home. Good luck to all.

EDIT: I forgot to mention not all the games on the list were put in the TRU BOGO bin. They had clock tower 3, legacy of kain, and a few others for $19.99, but they didn't red tag and BOGO them. I hate that TRU. Last time I go there.

That was exactly my logic :D

Okay here's how I made out. The TRU at times square are a bunch of penis licking asshats, except for one very nice girl who scanned some games for me.

First they had nice simple signs that stated clearly that all games with the red sticker were BOGO, but they had like two or three dinky racks in the middle of the floor with about 10 games out of the 800 listed with stickers on them. I'd seen the list and knowing there were plenty of games in the store that were on the list that werent stickered my friend and I took it upon ourselves to use the customer scanner to check games.

The scanner told me plain as day that Amplitude was part of the deal, I already had the game but my friend wanted it. I then grabbed Mark of Kri and searched for a couple of game cube titles. it was at this time that the scanner "mysteriously" STOPPED giving me information. So we went to the register and asked the nice young woman to scan and tell us if some of the games were resgistering as BOGO as Mark of Kri did, She said it did tell her and she realized there'd been a mistake that it wasnt stickered and said she get someone to get them fixed, I said cool and walked off to find other games.

Eventually my friend told me that he tried to take the games he knew were on the list and pay for them, but the guys at the register turned him down on the deal. They'd REFUSED to scan the games in so he could take advantage of the deal saying they could ony do it for the games with stickers on them! (keep in mind they had put stickers on a staggering total of about 20 games in the whole damn store) I said that was rediculous and we suddenly noticed the 24 or so copies of Kri had VANISHED!...

Turns out they were on counter at the register where I figured they were going to put stickers on them but when I went to the counter with my Mark of Kri to buy it with another game from the list they told me flat out "the deal is only on the games with the stickers". "but this game is on the list" I told them, "the deal is only--" "but dude, it SCANS as BOGO, it's on the list!" , "the deal is only--"

WHAT A fuckING ASSHOLE. I'm trying to GIVE them my money and they didnt freaking want it! All CaGs in New York, AVOID the TRU at Times Square Not only did their selection stink but they obviously don't want your money.

Instead my friend and I went to the TRU at 14th street where they not only had a better inventory (I was about to get King of route 66 and Mark of Kri while my friend got Amplitude and Swingers golf) but the girl at the counter was nice enough to even let me see the list she had so that we could fine some games to take advantage of the offer!

To summerize:
TRU at Times square = Penis Lickers
TRU at 14th street = Friendly and helpful!

And aftewards I went across to Circuit ctiy and found a copy of Bloody Roar for GC labeled as $15 but scaned for 12 bucks AFTER TAX! :)

In WA, I too have noticed that many BOGO listed games were not stickered and put in the BOGO bin. I didn't even try to bitch at them to get the deals, as they probably are turds here too.

The store I went to was in the South Bay (San Jose to be exact). I heard from a friend that the one in Campbell was garbage too so dont expect a lot from the stores in the Bay Area.

I should mention that the store at 14th street where I ended up had a basket with a sign that showed the BOGO offer. While it was filled with all Xbox games and a few lame GBA games they had games on the shelf that were stickered with red price labels to denote their being part of the offer but the girl ("Sulie") at this TRU didn't force me to stick only to those games as the two I picked up didnt even have price stickers on them.

She simply scanned them and the registered as one being part of the BOGO offer, one free and the other for the price in their system. the only unfortunat part of it was that King of Route 66 was actually 2 dollars higher than the price list we have stated. but two games for 23 bucks it nothing to sneeze at.

A couple of things to note: This is not a YMMV deal. It's for all stores. Every game on the list is going to ring up their appropriate deal. Even if a game is not marked, if you saw it on the list posted, it's going to be part of the deal once it has been totalled at the cash register. So, if you see something that you wanted and it wasn't marked at the store, take it anyway. Employees can't undo the BOGO or any other deal at the register, no matter what kind of ignorance they spew. If you have to make absolutely sure, you can scan the games at price checkers. If it says it's something on there, it's going to be that after the cashier totals up your purchase.

Also, this isn't going to be advertised. These deals are "Unadvertised Temporary Price Reductions" going on until the latter half of July. Finally, a lot of employees aren't going to know about this right away. I even found out about it before my bosses did. I just like to poke around on the computers while at work, is all. This is also the time of year when TRU starts hiring newbies, and won't show them how to access the computer.

You guys have the list. Match it up with what you see and think you may want, and buy. I'll try to answer any questions, since a lot of people here are getting asshole sales associates.

The problem I expeienced at TRU at times square was that the security boxes were hard to scan at the price checkers but when they did scan all they did was beep and not show any info after a while. it worked at first and would let you know it was BOGO but then it just stopped working without warning. Leaving the cshiers as the only way to check the prices.

I'd gotten the feeling that they wanted to keep the information a secret or something so they shut them down!

He did hit the total button and for 2 games, (1 for $14.99 and one for $19.99) the total said $34. and some change. Who knows.

Did all that, took the list in, got the games I wanted, had the guy total up the sale, and no, the sale did not automatically take effect, the cashiers looked at me like I was on crack and was insane because I thought there was a BOGO sale going on. So either it's not in their computer or I am imagining my whole experience at TRU today. The only sale going on of any kind was SSX Trickey GC for $9.99. That's it. No BOGO bin, no red tags, nothing., and it didn't ring up correctly even when the cashier totaled the sale. So I'm at a loss.

Which two games? The list can be confusing - especially for games that are on the budget program.

My TRU had a ton of psone games on the list... but when I checked the prices at the register, most were full price/overpriced..... so I got nothing :whistle2:(

It seems some of the stores maynot have their prices on straight.

Like I Said King of Route 66 says 19.99 on the price list but my receipt rang up as 21.99 before tax.

weren't too many good games......but i picked up mat hoffman's bmx 2 and wreckless (both for xbox) for 20 bucks total......not too bad of a deal........btw, all of the bogo games were put together in a specific area and were clearly labeled as buy one, get one free

I went to the store in jacksonville on US-1 and all the games on sale they little white paper squares under the titles that were BOGO indicating that it only applied to these games with the red stickers (which actually were orange). I was only looking for XBOX games and I only saw garbage games that were marked for $19.99. Not worth the trip.

Well, I just got back from the store in Woburn, Massachusetts. They had four bins of BOGO games, mostly Ps2 and Xbox. All the Psone games were still on the wall (not that great of a selection). Also, the GBA and GCN games were still in their sections.

Luckily I brought in the list that was posted and everything that I could find on the list was correct in price. Prices are ridiculous for some of these games. To make a long story short I ended up grabbing a copy of Dragon Warrior VII (psone), Lufia (GBA), and a copy of the Dark Cloud 2 Prima strategy guide for a total of $31.50. The stratgegy guide was .01 cent and was the last copy. Dragon Warrior and Lufia were $29.99 each. Not a great deal but not too bad either. Hope this helps anyone who may be in the area.

Also, the person working there was pulling games off of the shelves from a list he was holding and there were no stickers on any of the games saying they were BOGO. The bins just had a computer printed piece of paper taped on them saying they were by on get one free.

Cool Springs (Nashville), TN:

They were just about done pulling all the games. Almost all were orange stickered. No Arc the Lad. He checked the computer, there is one left at the Murfreesboro store, but the box is torn up. It is on hold for me right now, but only for 24 hours, and I have pretty much decided it isn't worth getting in that condition (I'd have to find another game on the list that they have that is actually worth $35), so I'll call them tomorrow and tell them to put it back on the floor. Also he couldn't find Harvest Moon in the computer at all, but there are definitely no copies at Cool Springs or Murfreesboro, and probably none in the Nashville area at all.

I did get:
Lufia: The Runes of Lore (GBA) x 2 $29.99
Silent Hill 2 (Xbox) & Blood Omen 2 (Xbox) $19.99
Endgame (PS2) & Zone of The Enders: The Fist of Mars (GBA) $14.99

Total: $65 + tax for 6 games. Not earth-shattering, but not bad. I've been trying to get a used copy of Endgame for a while (they are pretty cheap at EB and GameCrazy), but all the copies I have found have been in bad shape. I probably could have passed on SH2 and BO2, now that I've given it some more thought. Oh well.

guessed, do you really want Harvest Moon PS2? I don't really want my copy anymore (only played it once), and could probably make a small trade for it if you have crap you absolutely do not want anymore.

-Hoshi

I went to TRU in Beaver, PA(Pittsburgh) They had a nice bin with BOGO sign explaining it. I didn;t get anything there but Mark of Kri was calling me. I am going to another TRU tomorrow for more. The girl there was really nice. I got Harvest Moon PS2 and Legaia 2 PS2 from the value rack and asked her if they were 7.99 since they were marked 19.99. She said she didn't hear about that one but scanned them for me and they were 7.99. I might get more, they Mad Maestro for 7.99 and some others strange ones that I might pick up.

I went to the TRU in St. Ann, MO. I asked about the sales and the girl behind the counter actually knew what I was talking about and even let me view the list (small-ass print!). Picked up Midnight Club Racing and Parappa the Rapper 2 at $7.99 each. I'm gonna try a different store when I get off work later today.

Didn't read the rest of the thread but nothing happening at TRU in Santa Cruz, CA. Gave me attitude when I asked about it and when I explained that I had heard from the internet they told me it must be at amazon.com because they weren't expecting a sale in a month or two. Seems people don't like to be told they are having a sale; KBToys, Toys R Us, Gamestop, etc...

Yeah I would expect no less from the wonderful resident employees of Santa Cruz (note the heavy sarcasm). I'm SOOOO glad I'm out of here in about 2 weeks. It would almost be worth it to go down there grab the 2 cheapest games and then make a big deal about the sale so that when they give me attitude I can see the looks on their faces when it rings up BOGO free.(according to some other people you actually have to go through the whole transaction to get the BOGO free).

Hmmm, has anyone been to the Poughkeepsie, NY store yet?
I plan on checking later today, but if it's not worth the hour drive with gas prices,i'd rather not go.
I just have a feeling they won't have anything worthwhile.
So, anyone ?

The BOGO titles at my TRU were a joke. Did pick up Parappa 2 and Harvest Moon for PS2 for $7.99 each. Sweet deal. I also saw Stretch Panic for $7.99, but already had that title. Stretch Panic is a Treasure game and well worth $8. Pick it up if you see it.

I'm hoping to go either later today or tomorrow. If you go before me, don't buy all my games!

Not to beat a dead horse here, because I have moved on from this, but the guy did total it up and showed me the total, what difference would it make to the computer if I handed him my cash? So I would pay the full price for both games, get my reciept, then the BOGO takes effect? A little odd, seems as the last time they had a BOGO, the items scanned as such before I was required to pay, therefore allowing me to pay the correct price.

scsg75 - did he scan the game or just type the price into the register? because my receipt shows a code under the game price: 019054 for all the BOGO games this came up when it was scanned, so either the guy at your register refused to scan it correctly causing the code to not show up or he just typed in the price to by pass the BOGO.

no he took the games out of the protective case and scanned each one, I watched him do it, as he complained, watched him hit the total button, saw the total on the screen and watched him bitch as he had to void the transaction as I walked out because they were not BOGO. Anyay, it's really not a big deal, they were two crap games I can find anywhere for the same price used as they would have been with the BOGO.

yeah, I dealt with the same thing last night. They were complaining about everything, and the manager was totally clueless on what was going on. I just said to hell with it and got Hot Shots Golf 3 for 7 bucks

I am a cashier at toys r us and ran a few bogo deals friday night and the way it works when scanner, it showes up the regular price(say 9.99) and then another one scannes at (9.99), but then when total is pressed it showes to the cashier(not the customer) the subtractions of -9.99), or 0.00 depends on the model of Cash register, but neitherless you will get both for 9.99 total togother. We had 2 more arc the lad collection in teh storage room, but 69.99$ is a little steep, even with my 10% employee discount

Went last night to TRU and couldn't find anything I wanted to buy. It was nice of the clerks to label all of the BOGO games. I was planning on picking up Dragon Warrior 7 and Front Mission 3 but they were out of Front Mission 3. On May 1st they still had 2 copies of Front Mission 3 at $40 a piece but now there gone.

TRU store in N. Attleboro, MA had the BOGO BIN -- but there was barely anything in there. No GC games whatsoever, a couple (literally) of GBA titles, and garbage from the Xbox & PS2 that few would find of interest.

This is one deal that seems like it's gonna be REAL hit or miss (and mostly miss, I'm guessing). I'm just happy I happened to be in the area and didn't specifically drive there to check it out.

Picked up Deathrow and Serious Sam (both Xbox) for $20 total at the Northshore Mall TRU in Peabody, Ma. I was looking to get the Xmen fighter for Xbox, but they were out. There was some mild dissapointment, but I'm good. Might go back and pick up Dark Summit and Mad Maestro for $10 total. Any mini-reviews on the former?

It's all this talk about the new Front Mission due out soon. :p Had FM3 in my store for the absolute longest time, also, then it was just gone.

VF4 Evo is also on the BOGO deal, but it's the non value rack version (it's not in a milky white plastic case) and costs $19.99 because of that. Evo wasn't listed on the BOGO list (the original VF4 was). Just thought someone would like to know in case they missed out the $7.99 copies.

-Hoshi

TRU also added a link on the website where stores can click and it will show them what BOGO items are in stock at that store. If you can get an employee to show you this list then it will be a lot easier than digging through the bins to find what you need(although the list is the stores inventory as of the start of the BOGO sale). Out of the 800 titles, my store only had about 50 of them.

Also, if you do do this, Dark Cloud and Spy Hunter Greatest Hits are part of the BOGO but aren't on the list.
guessed, do you really want Harvest Moon PS2? I don't really want my copy anymore (only played it once), and could probably make a small trade for it if you have crap you absolutely do not want anymore.

Thanks, but I found it locally.

I've now been to 2 TRUs and spent a good deal of time organizing the BOGO bins. The games are just dumped in there in those ridiculously shaped plastic cases.

Is it just me or are some of their prices just ridiculous even with the bogo? I went there today but couldn't really find anything that I wanted. Things that I did find were still like $50 when they are like $20 everywhere else.

It isn't just you. There are a few good deals to be had at some of the stores, but they do require effort.
My TRU had mostly xbox games and ps1 games. The only PS2 games were Okage and Fantavision, WAAAAY overpriced.
If you want Okage I have a sealed copy for trade...PM me.

My local Toys R Us had a table at the front of R-Zone with stuff piled on it.

Made it easier to figure out what they had ( which wasn't much ).
