TRU BOGO coming Friday, May 28th *List added - now with prices* + $7.99 games.

CAGiversary!
This one is a bit odd. TRU is trying to clear out its "aged inventory" now. So, for the next month starting Friday, over 800 games are eligible for BOGO. I can't leave work with a list that big without raising some eyebrows. So, give me a bit to somehow get that list if no one else does. I can say with certainty that 99% of the remaining N64, PS1, DC, GBC, NGPC, GG, and even Genesis stock qualifies. Some TRU, somewhere, still has Game Gear and Genesis games, otherwise they wouldn't have been on that list. :)

For PS2, XB, GC, and GBA: They call it "aged inventory," which means it's been discontinued as well. You can actually tell which games have been discontinued by looking at the shelf tags. If there's a lone "X" on the far right of the shelf tag, then TRU will likely not be stocking the item anymore. Every game on the list of 800+ is X-ed out, but I think only older games are on that list. For instance, Prince of Persia for XBox is X-ed out, because TRU doesn't want anymore of them or can't get anymore of them. However, that isn't exactly "aged." Though, I could be wrong and it could be sitting there on that list. I guess I need to just go take a better look at the list. I'm also getting some wires crossed with that big-ass Best Buy blowout from the past couple of days. So, none of that list stuck with me. Whatever. Stay tuned.

Edit by Hoshi: This was just posted today. Also starting on the 28th, all PS1 and PS2 games in the budget program are $7.99. (Those same games that TRU has had BOGO deals for on and off since Christmas.) If your store wasn't cleared out by dealers or some such like mine was, you can still find games like Hitman 2, DMC, VF4 Evo, GT3 A-Spec, Silpheed, Sly Cooper (non-GH), and others I know I'm forgetting. I'm pretty sure they're already picked through by now, after two BOGO deals this year on them. But, I thought some of the newer CAGs would like the heads-up.

I did the same thing today. I got two copies each of ATL Collection and DW VII. I even told the lady at the checkout my intentions to return on Friday to pricematch the BOGO deal.

She said it wouldn't be a problem and that there's already been a couple of customers doing that.
I bought a couple of games full price that are on the list. By the time Friday rolls around, I'm still in the clear of their 45 day return policy. Do you think there would be any problems with me asking to price adjust for this new BOGO deal?

And if anyone could pick me up an extra Arc Lad Collection, that would be great
If the price drops at TRU or a special promotion starts running, you can get the difference back as long as you bring the receipt back within 30 days. So if you buy them now there will be no problem getting the deal done on Friday.

It's a weird policy. You can return electronic merchandise for a full refund for 45 days. But the policy for price drops/competitors ads in the store on those signs at the service desk say if you see a lower advertised price or the price at TRU drops within 30 days you can get the price difference back. Some stores(like mine now) are really strict and if you bring in something after 35 days that has dropped in price they will not give you the price difference. And then you think well I have 45 days to return it, let me return it and rebuy it. Well, my store won't even let you do this. If its something that the store still has then return it and go and pick up another one off the shelf and buy the new one but if it is a hot item the store doesn't currently have they won't let you have the one you just returned back.

tubtub, I just e-mailed CheapyD with the price list. Don't waste your time doing it now. :)

eh im not gonna risk buying now and price matching on friday for this deal, the games r just not that important. still i will b there friday morning to c if theres anything interesting. thx for posting the deal.

good lord with a list that big you'd think I could find some decent games. But I could only find 10 tops. And who's to say that they will even have any of those 10 in stock or that they'll be cheap.

hehe, i found 27 games that i want and i can't wait to see the price list

Wow, some of those prices are high. The price sheet lowered the number of games I wanted from 20 to about 6. Even with the BOGO, some of these games are cheaper elsewhere. Thanks for posting the prices. I would have been disappointed had I not seen it before I went in.

I just read that TRU is making major changes to their videogames sales since they are getting killed in the market. They should just look at this price list and they would have their reason.

Even if I could find 2 Arc the Lad collections at mine, I wouldn't put up the upfront $70+tax investment on 'em. I haven't spent that much money at once on anything since the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime figure...and then after that, I got a second one on clearance at Target for $34. :p I guess this website has turned me into a cheapass.

Damn, there were a lot of games on this list I wanted but those prices! :x

I could have sworn some of those things were lower at the store I go to (like Toe Jam and Earl III being $20).

These prices make it feel as though they are trying to milk as much as possible from their sale... BOGO isn't truly what it advertises. It's more like, pay extra for your first game, and get your second game free.

wow I work at toys r us in Norfolk, VA, and I talk to the guy who runs teh R zon, and he told me he never heard of this deal for the 28th, so I guess its not a Uniform BOGO. Man I guess Im out of luck

I went to 3 local TRU stores today and none of my contacts had any clue about this deal, I found the listed games tho and hid a bunch, just in case.

i went to the local tru over here in oc and they don't have a clue about it either. if anybody has luck with it tomorrow, please post. thanks.

I was in my local TRU yesterday. Talked to a guy in the game department who knew about the sale. It starts Friday (not today). He said it is an "unadvertised sale" - not that it matters the way these deals spread around the net anymore.
Colin McRae 3 for Xbox costs $29.99? CM4 costs $19.99 brand new. WTF?
$15 with GGC @ BB

I almost picked it up the other day when i went in for my cheap games.

also lollerskates at the Genesis prices
For anyone who's interested, I think I saw Colin McRae 3 for XBox "new" (and you know what the quotes are for ...) at EB.

Wow their charging $30 for Kakuto Chojin?

Anyway my list is down to 2...
Shadow Hearts $14.90
Romance 7 $14.90

Their the only ones worth it..

Wow some of you guys are seriously jaded! Sure, a few of the games are overpriced, but the majority of them are less than $20, making them under $10 when you factor in the BOGO. With over 800 titles, obviously most of them are going to be crap, but there are still several dozen games on that list that are at least worth checking out. These are just some of the games I'll be looking out for (Once again, keep in mind these prices are twice what you'll actually be paying) :

bouncer 19.98
clock tower 3 19.99
cool boarders 01 14.98
dark summit 9.98
drakan 29.99
escape from monkey island 24.90
eternal ring 17.48

frequency 14.98
legacy of kain 2 9.90
mystic heroes 14.98
no one lives forever 9.90
pirates 19.99
portal runner 9.90
rayman 2,3 19.98, 19.99
ring of red 12.48
robotech 19.99
shadow hearts 14.90
silpheed 9.98
spy hunter 19.99
ssx 9.98
state of emergency 9.98

arc the lad collection 69.99
broken sword 2 23.48
c-12 9.98
chrono cross 19.99
clocktower 2 14.90
dragon warrior 7 29.98
driver 4.90
final fantasy9 19.99

tomb raider comp 29.99
tony hawk 2,3 19.99, 19.99
twisted metal 3 14.99
vagrant story 19.90
And thats just for PS1/PS2!

Although my TRU's game selection is usually pretty lousy, so I don't expect to find many of these games in the store, it's still a pretty safe bet that I'll be leaving with at least a handful of these games!

I do have a question, if you bring a bunch of games to the register at once, can you have them ring them up so that every second-most expensive title is counted as the free one? For example, if I brought up 2 $20 games and 2 $10 games, would they ring up the second $20 game as one of the free games? Or would they make me pay for both $20 games and give me the 2 $10 games for free? If that was the case, could I just bring the $20 games up first, and then after I bought them bring up the $10 games? I need answers plz!

collin Mcree rally 04 came out only costing 20 bucks, but 03 came out for 40. The 05 version I'm thinking will also only cost 20 bucks. I think they are going to do like madden, a new race game every year.
did anyone get these deals? it started today, right? i think im still calling bullshit
It starts the 28th, man. It even says so in the thread title. Why would we make this up? :)

As far as I know, the system is now fixed to where it will do exactly what you gave an example of above. One of the $20 games would be free, then one of the $10 ones. However, you might want to ask the manager just to be sure.

Oh my god! It starts tommorow, I'll have to try and look around Friday and Saturday. I may stock up on some DC games ^_^

The prices are CRAP. I can just go to my local GS/EB and get these games for half of what they go for there, maybe even more. And then I can have my own personal BOGO!
the DC games at my TRU still better not be $25+ *shakes fist*
You should see one of the TRUs I go to.
$45 for Illbleed. ha, ha.

Yeah. The price list reminds me why I do most of my game shopping elsewhere, despite working at TRU. There's just no defense for it. I think it'll be an interesting couple of months, though. The sale lasts until the end of July (not June like I previously stated). And, according to TRU's website, they're basing future deals on the success of this one. So, either a lot of crappy games are going to be sold. Or, TRU will get desperate and blow them out some other way. I see either more games getting added to the list in time, or the prices being cut down significantly... But, don't let me get anyone's hopes up again. :)

-Hoshi
Oh man.. These are terrible prices..

Maybe you can price match and get BOGO?
To my knowledge, TRU only PMs current ad papers, and there's no chance of any of those older games being on them. :(

-Hoshi

Does anyone know what time TRU opens on a Friday? I wasn't going to go but since I missed out on the BB deal, I figure why not :)

If it makes a difference I am in WA. (for open time)

Thanks

i'm gonna get the two AtL Collections, even though they're not marked down in price. sell one of 'em. and i might pick up two Bust a Move 3000s for GC and sell one of 'em.

And if it doesn't you should complain and tell them to ring up each pair separately. They shouldn't be able to say no for something like that.

Ugh... I can't even find one thing on that list that makes this "sale" worthwhile. Especially w/ this over-pricing they're doing -- Mr. Mosquito for $30? And it retails for $15!!! Who are they trying to fool? TRU can suck a nut.
