TRU BOGO coming Friday, May 28th *List added - now with prices* + $7.99 games.

CAGiversary!
This one is a bit odd. TRU is trying to clear out its "aged inventory" now. So, for the next month starting Friday, over 800 games are eligible for BOGO. I can't leave work with a list that big without raising some eyebrows. So, give me a bit to somehow get that list if no one else does. I can say with certainty that 99% of the remaining N64, PS1, DC, GBC, NGPC, GG, and even Genesis stock qualifies. Some TRU, somewhere, still has Game Gear and Genesis games, otherwise they wouldn't have been on that list. :)

For PS2, XB, GC, and GBA: They call it "aged inventory," which means it's been discontinued as well. You can actually tell which games have been discontinued by looking at the shelf tags. If there's a lone "X" on the far right of the shelf tag, then TRU will likely not be stocking the item anymore. Every game on the list of 800+ is X-ed out, but I think only older games are on that list. For instance, Prince of Persia for XBox is X-ed out, because TRU doesn't want anymore of them or can't get anymore of them. However, that isn't exactly "aged." Though, I could be wrong and it could be sitting there on that list. I guess I need to just go take a better look at the list. I'm also getting some wires crossed with that big-ass Best Buy blowout from the past couple of days. So, none of that list stuck with me. Whatever. Stay tuned.

Edit by Hoshi: This was just posted today. Also starting on the 28th, all PS1 and PS2 games in the budget program are $7.99. (Those same games that TRU has had BOGO deals for on and off since Christmas.) If your store wasn't cleared out by dealers or some such like mine was, you can still find games like Hitman 2, DMC, VF4 Evo, GT3 A-Spec, Silpheed, Sly Cooper (non-GH), and others I know I'm forgetting. I'm pretty sure they're already picked through by now, after two BOGO deals this year on them. But, I thought some of the newer CAGs would like the heads-up.

Dumb question alert!!!

How will I know what games this sale applies to (besides looking at the list)? Anyone know if they will be marked like the "value games" were or will they be in a bin?
I was wondering the same thing.

I was also wondering if this deal would be represented online in any way?
Read the first post, second paragraph.
Yeah, I saw that, but I was hoping for something a little more noticeable. I am old, I have bad eyes.. :)
I'm just gonna hold out just in case Best Buy decides to have a restock on the $5 games.
Since TRU doesn't regularly discount their gaming inventory like Target, I'm probably safe in assuming that most of the listed games retail at TRU for around $19.99 at present, meaning the BOGO discount will effectively make them $10 each. New games for $10 each certainly isn't a bad deal, but the Best Buy $5 deal going on now is a much better deal, assuming your BB B&M had anything in stock when you went there.

I really want Amplitude, but if there's no price reduction and it's still $39.99 I'll pass, there's pretty much nothing else on that list worthwhile.

Any of these games still trading in for a decent rate anywhere?

Also, this might have been covered elsewhere but for a while now my TRU has had a kiosk full of PS2/Xbox/GC games, mostly crap budget ones between $9.99 and $19.99, as BOGO.

Come on TRU, BB has got you whipped on how to clear out old games. Even KB Toys owned you although actual stores cleared out along with the games. If all these games are marked to $5 and under; or $10 even, you can clear you shelves with ease and get set up for all the lovely, exciting games coming out this year and next.

Nice.

One question.

When this deal starts, is the only way we can tell what games are eligible are if they have a X on it? Or what?

BTW...I can't see that list, I dont have word on my mac :(

People this deal sucks...TRU will charge you like $40 for the cheap game that retails at all other places for $10.
i don't have any of those gamecube games, would anyone suggest 1 or 2 (and 1 or 2 more for the BOGO offer)
Try to score Gauntlet. It's rare and a great game, either one or multiplayer.
I like the Bloody Roar series but it's button mashing not a real fighting game like Tekken or Virtua Fighter. Looks pretty tho.
BTW...I can't see that list, I dont have word on my mac :(
Can't you find a free word document viewer. I'm pretty sure Microsoft has one available for PC. They should have one for MAc too. Noty to mention there are probably a ton of open source, shareware viewers. But then again, you are on a mac.

You are aware those hardly any of those games currently retail for $40 at TRU?

Find me a free one. I have no clue where to look.

And why do you hate on macs? I love them. Plus, my uncle is really smart with them, and can repair them for free. :D

Well, I was excited but after seeing the list and TRU online prices for those games. I can find most of those for less than those prices elsewhere! I guess I will not waste mey time.... BB destroyed TRU on this round of deals.

Yeah, I just saw the deal at work today and was going to post it but someone beat me to it. But in all honesty, most of the games on the list we are already sold out of. We do have some N64 games stored in the back along with some Dreamcast games. But don't get overcome by the large list of games. I am guessing out of all the games listed each store might have 2% of the games.

This is also being done to clear out room litterally and also skn number wise.

Imagine being able to find one thing on the BOGO list and unable to find any other title on it! :D

Will we be able to mix and match different systems? BingBangBoom is right, though, my TRU may have one or two titles on that list but definitely will not have a large selection.

Thanks alot man

Such a large list and so little worth paying for. The game industry is flooded with crap.

yea.. if i owned best buy or TRU or something, i'd have a big sale to get rid of some of the crap. But i dont own them, so i guess that wont happen.

the arc the lad collection is what jumps out at me
Arc is like 70 (65?) dollars TRU..
I think it is $70. When the first post was made, before the list was available, I was hoping it would be on the list, because I know of at least one local TRU that still has at least one copy. Against my better judgement, I recently bought a used copy that lacked the art book/instruction manual (everything else was there, and it was in otherwise perfect shape), so I'd love to get my hands on a complete one and unload the one I have.

like defender said the downfall of videogames
Okay.. Look what they're clearing - Genesis, Game Gear, N64, PSX, and old next-gen stuff. Read the list again. That's one major problem with TRU (and a WHOLE lot of other retailers) - they don't know how to mark down prices to move inventory when it gets too old. My TRU has Pokemon Snap for like 30+ dollars, Front Mission 3 for 39.99. TRU is a stupid retailer, you know?
I'll take that New Front Mission 3 from you TRU for $40 easy! :)

Chris

Meh, nothing in that list interests me, well, of course Arc the Lad does, but that's like 60 bucks and isn't going to be easily found.

I owrk at toys r us in Norfolk, VA and I remmber seeing 3 copis of arc the lad collection in the back, I think for 59.99$

For those wondering, TRU is supposed to put red clearance stickers on all the titles that are part of this sale and the signs say "All red tagged games buy one get one free". Of course most stores won't do this and it will be hard to determine what is and what isn't on sale. Most of the prices are horrible, though, Waverace is $49.99 for gamecube, which is only $19.99 at Circuit City, so even at BOGO its not that great of a deal. A bunch of the E-reader cards are also part of this sale.

I don't know if Hoshi posted a list of prices, too, but if you want tomorrow night I can get a price list up.

That would be very helpful. Thanks!

will TRU honor a printed price list? or will these prices already be in the computers regardless of the price sticker?

I remember how craptacular KB was during their big sale last winter, in some cases refusing to put price reduction stickers one games that were clearly marked on the price lists that they had but wouldnt allow others to see (but we already had.)
if there are two at mine I will sell you the other at cost trust.
good deal....though you might have to give me a few days to put the money in the bank, pay day for me is saturday and this site is killing my bank account in a tug of war match

Waiting for payment if I get it is not a big deal. I remember one, but think there was one behind it. If not I will probably pass if there is only one since I have been picking up so many games lately (picked up 5 already today aside from the one I got from you)

I bought a couple of games full price that are on the list. By the time Friday rolls around, I'm still in the clear of their 45 day return policy. Do you think there would be any problems with me asking to price adjust for this new BOGO deal?

And if anyone could pick me up an extra Arc Lad Collection, that would be great

Oh, thank-freaking-god, I don't have to type up the whole 800-game list. :)

I do have the prices, though.

I got to take a better look at the list tonight (which is now in my pocket). Really, not the best selection by any means, but there has to be at least one game on there that some of you want. :) I'm gonna go pick off AtL Collection and Dragon Warrior 7, myself.

any extra info that you could give would be greatly appreciated by myself and the rest of the CAG community. thanks!

There were genesis games mentioned to be in the BOGO papers, and there are none on the list. Are there really and genesis BOGO deals?
