Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.

**** = EXTREME YMMV - only offered online, only way you'll find it in a store is if someone returned it from online.

Picked up on Wednesday:

Mega Man X7 - PS2 - 9.95
Onimusha 3 - PS2 - 7.45
Galleon - Xbox - 9.95

My store was also giving away a demo disc for every game you bought. I picked up a MGS3 disc and two DDR discs (both were different) with just music from the game, I guess.

I also have Siren, Onimusha (and am a fan of the Onimusha series), and Ghosthunter...all are great but IMO you actually skipped out on the best of the three.

Anyone else who sees it, don't make the same mistake.

i picked up amplitude today for $15. I know it is only $10 at K-mart but they closest k-mart is 40+ miles away. I am really liking amplitude, it was well worth the money.
How are you guys taking stuff out of the electronics dept. to scan it? Every TRU I've ever been too has been in a seperate area of the store with it's own security alarm preventing you from taking stuff from electronics out of the department without buying it first.
A lot of the "R" Zones have a barcode reader right in the game aisle where you can scan it, and it will tell you the price instantly.

Although, it seems like all the new games are getting "promotional use only" empty boxes, that don't have barcodes on them. :whistle2:(

I was hoping to find a copy of Ghost Hunter & Katamari Damacy, but wound up with only Demon Stone and Drakengard (for a friend). My local TRU was cleaned out of most green tag games infortunitely. If anyone has access to a Ghosthunter or Katamari Damacy, I would be interested in either trading or buying. Please let me know :)

Finally hit up a local TRU -- the La Cienega location in LA that usually has good stuff. Their table of green tag items was very limited. I bought Galleon, Spy Hunter GC, and Intellivision Lives GC for a grand total of $20 + tax.

Has anyone else seen these PS2 PRO Gamer Bundle(includes controller, aluminum case, 8MB memory expansion, dvd remote) $59.99" for less?

Mine had them a couple days ago, marked for like $25 with a green tag. So, wouldn't these come up as $12.50 a piece? I thought about picking one up, but I don't really need it.

This is a little OT, but does anyone know if TRU is planning another buy 2 get 1 free sale in October? Might be cool if some of these clearance games are left over and work with the sale.

Not any of the ones I visited in my area, they all have them green tagged for $59.99:cry: No big deal for me since it will mean they will still have them by the 70%off sale. Which is still good for $18, right?

The one for $24.99 is the case only. No accessories.

Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but does anyone know anything about the TRU survey/coupon?

I got one today with my receipt (picked up PS FF tactics). All I can gather is that its for a certain percentage off, does anyone know how much and if that would be in addition to the current 50% off?

It is when you missed the top part.

Heh, but thanks for pointing out my ability to miss the obvious. The guy at the register gave it to me and said "I don't know how much its worth", so I suppose we both can't read worth a damn.

Sorry. I didn't to be an ass, but it is right there.

They also say it's worth $3 when you call the number.

FYI, the coupon code is always the same, so write it down and everytime you get one of those slips you can just write the code on the line and not have to take the survey again.

I'm also looking for Phantasy Star Online 1 & 2 Plus (GC). Someone bought all three remaining copies at the Norwalk, CT TRU a few hours before I got there :bomb:

I'm sure they had the one with the accessories marked $24.99. I guess I will have to go back and check them out. I thought it was a good deal when I saw them the other night, but I had my wife with me and she was preventing me from, how does she say it, oh yeah "wasting my money".

I saw one of these today in Rockville, MD. I picked it up because I haven't seen the game available at any price anywhere for a long time.

They also had an Xbox Turok in the green tag bin, but with no price. Curious, as ever, I had them ring it up with my other games - register said "$1.98 PROMO". Yeah, it was 99 cents after discount. Very YMMV as usual, though.

NO Metabots Infinity - I don't believe this game really exists. I've been to 5 or 6 TRU and none have had it for a while. Also just realized I passed up Spyro Enter the Dragonfly because the stupid TRU I went to didn't have it green-tagged - I see now that it is on the list. D'oh! Would have been $5 or so.

Do you mind sharing the coupon code? :)

Haha, I beg to differ... I have traded in two such Medabots games for a total of approximately $35 (total cost: $12). But I bought the only two at my TRU (one at the beginning of 30%, the second at the beginning of 50%).

Are the Spyro games any good?

I don't think it got great reviews, but for $5 I'd give it a shot. Hopefully I can make it back to that TRU within the next few days, though I think they only had one Spyro left.

It won't do you any good without the coupon, now will it?

Just wanted to let people know i went to 2 TRUs in Paramus nj and got about 20 powerpuff girls for gamecube that were marked 4.98 and came up $2.49...also picked up about 6 medabots at $5 apiece...couldnt find much of anything else exept the common games...i traded the Medabots for $8 at gamestop and the Powerpuff girls for $8 also...did this 3 times so far at 3 different gamestops (they are all over the place here)

in the first trus though the powerpuff girls were marked 11.98 and came up at $5.96 so i dont know why the prices were different, also picked up Godzilla which was marked $14.95 and came up at $7 and some change

I went to the Ebgames and checked the trade in value but they came up at $3 and $4 apiece...so i am not dealing with them with these games...

If you only want to trade them in, go over to GR. $20 for Medabots and... $12.xx for PowerPuff Girls, I think.

These are still marked as $59.99 at my local stores. For more than 75% off (at $12.50), this would definitely be worth considering, but at $29.99 it's still a bit overpriced.

Picked up today:

Metriod: Zero Mission - GBA - $15
Outlaw Golf 2 - Xbox - $10
Final Fantasy Tactics - PS1 - $7.50

A few others I'm looking at, but I really don't want to get the wife going.

Hopefully I can find some more of the Intec cases. They are pretty nice and I have a few consoles that need some lovin. Picked up a GC one (bundle) for $7 after 30% off and Xbox (case only) for $15 after 50%.
Is GR gamerush?....if so there arent any by me that i know of
Yeah it is. If you haven't looked on their website (www.gamerush.com), do the store locator there. You might not notice driving by some if they don't advertise it well enough. Of course, there are about a dozen or more Blockbusters in a 20 mile radius of me and only two are Gamerushes. The farthest two.

I wish the GC bundle here wasn't marked at $24...

i looked on the website and supposedly the closest ones to me are in staten island...dont know why...but i live at least a few hours away from there

The rat bastards at my local Toys R Us kicked me out because they said I was, "Only there to get the games on sale." I swear to you guys, I've never been more dumbfounded by the ignorance of a store in my life. They act like they own the stuff. Earlier this week, they refused to sell me some of the Green Tagged games because they said that the price was 'too low.'

I called their corperate complaint line. They said that my store has been getting a record number of complaints. I wonder if they're going to send me a gift certificate or something.

I don't know which store you went to but the TRU in South Hill Puyallup Washington always gives me problems.

i wouldnt tell people here that your buying games just to trade in and that you got 6 of one game cause you will be called a HOARDER

obviously if i cared about that i wouldnt have posted it...my main reason for posting was to let some people know about some of the inconsistent pricing of TRUs...but anyway for $2.50 a game i dont care what i am called...Im trying to make a buck and save money in game purchases like everyone else...and most of the things i see on this site are about buying games just to trade them in or so it seems or whether or not its on the ebgames POX list...which by the way the 2 games werent on

i buy tons of games for systems i dont have to this day. I do it so once i buy the system I will have games to play it on. I been doing this Way back since the SNES days. If i find a great buy on a game I will buy it even if i dont have the system..... Im really stocking up on cheap Xbox games (5 and under ) now since I will get another Xbox when they fall to 49 bucks next year

ive looked at it but had no desire to open it....the Powerpuff girls one looked more interesting:) ...oh yeah...i took 3 pairs of games to 3 diff gamestops and the first 2 had no problem and didnt even ask why they were still sealed.(i had just come from TRU and yes i did take the stickers off:) and i knew that the first gamestop had Burnout 2 used and i wanted it)...the third gamestop made me open them before they accepted it...i just laughed and was like no problem ...would it be better if i opened them before taking them in?

Its wierd that the stores give you a nice amount for the crappiest games but for the best games they give you shit...

i like the gamestop in our mall. They wont take any sealed games, they make you leave the store open the game and reenter the store to sell it. Im like open the Freaking game yourself you lazy ass : )

Hey I was at the Rockville MD TRU today also. It's not my usual store but I work at the NIH so my friends and I went to check it out. My friend got a classic Transformer for $12 and I got the last Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and Gradius V at 50% off. That TRU is great because it seems that have some of the harder to find green tag games. Anyway, I can't wait for the prices to get even lower, then I'll take more chances and try so titles I'm not so hot on.

Going to be taking Back 2x Gallop racer 2004 Sometime next week unless someone wants to trade for them Mostly looking for SMT. or other Hard to find games

Hmmm, wonder why my TRU didnt tag the rest of the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance? I do remember one being tagged when all this started, but today none of them were.

This SUCKS I should of found this site out earlier :( but I'm broke as of now so I can't get anything anyways >_>

I did get something of this
Mortal Kombat DA - GC - 9.99 (...:D) Price off well don't know i think it was 30% off

Willl Toys r us do this next year? because if they are i'm going on sa saving spree (though i should save for revolution)

I left that Gradius for you - I was in there about 11am and saw it but didn't pick it up since I got one in Portland last week (otherwise I would have). You didn't get that last Spyro did you? I'm going to try to get it tomorrow but figure there's only a 25% chance it is still there.

I noticed that at that TRU and one other in the DC area that Phantom Brave is green-tagged (at $29.99). Also, Mojo for Xbox, our old favorite from last year. Neither of these is on the OP's list, so I wonder if more games are being added? Anyone else seen these? I didn't pick up a Phantom Brave because I bought it used from Gamerush - if it is still around at the 70% drop (unlikely) I will just to have a new one.

Any IL CAGs spot a copy of River City Ransom Ex at TRU? I've been itching to get my hands on a copy but thus far have had no luck. I've seen Iridion, Broken Sword, Sabrewulf, and various other GBA games. Just haven't gotten a hold of RCR.

My TRU had nothing! :whistle2:(

I don't open games at my local EB and they don't care at all. If I bring sealed games into FYE they practically call the police . . . seriously, they look at me like I'm a criminal . . . it is a YMMV kind of thing.

The last part is especially true of FYE: Malice or Astro Boy . . . over $20 . . . anything better under $10 . . . like they offered $5 for Psi Ops.
