Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.
If you buy multiple copies of CoD on the same receipt, all the ones after the first will ring up $5.
That's not true. I bought two copies earlier this week, and they both came up at $4.99 each, $9.98 total before tax.

Yes. But as stated, the promo may be over, I don't recall when it was slated to end.

And according to an earlier post, it should end 10/1. So nevermind.

Yeah, after the cashier hits total it drops.
Not to discount Shieryda's post; Im sure someone else has some insider information as to when the 70% sale will begin.
As far as I know, the next jump is still unknown. They're still adding TONS of new green tag stuff (1000+ items in the past 2 weeks), but there is no news of any % increase as of yet.

They should green tag the few GI Joe sets they have left. I'm clearly the only one who wants them. Bastards.

I tried it today and it is still going on

I just picked up 2 copies of Call of Duty: Finest Hour at the TRU in Raritan, NJ... plenty of additional copies left. I price checked it with the Salesperson and she said it was $19.99. I thought maybe I was screwed, but I figured I try it anyway... sure enough when she hit total it was $4.99 + tax. She was amazed. She actually went to a different register to look it up in the system. And she told a co-worker who was equally amazed. So I picked up a second one.
Picked up Feel the Magic and Samurai Legend Musashi for 9.99 each!
i am going checkout my TRU tomorrow for this 2 games ;)
Have there been any new games added to the green tag list this week?
Not offhand, but I'll look tomorrow when I stop in after I get out of my other job.
Do we have an updated list? I'm gonna be heading down in that direction later.
If there isn't, why not ask the TRU employee working there? It never hurts.

Just picked up the last "Call of Duty: Finest Hout" (PS2) for $4.97 today. Thanks for all the tips! Amazingly the employee knew it was only $5 and said so before he scanned it!

Also, saw some new green tagged games that I did not see on the list before, or maybe somebody mentioned them in a post and I missed it. Nothing that exciting, but maybe worth it at 70% off.

Prices are before discount.

Dragon Ball Z Sagas (PS2 ONLY) $49.99
Pool Paradise (PS2 ONLY) $14.99
Tron 2.0 Killer Ap (Xbox) $19.99
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (NGC ONLY) $49.99
I'm assuming that's mismarked. The Ps2 version should be $39.99 before discount.

As much as I hate to double-post, I can confirm that green tag and buy 2, get 1 free combine B&M!

I got Musashi Samurai Legend (9.99 after half off), Spy Fiction (9.99 after half off) and Pinball Hall of Fame (free, regularly $6.99) all for $20 total this morning when the store opened. All of these games were for PS2.

I had purchased Musashi and Pinball HOF for $18 last week, so I returned them.

The same manager who was pissed when I used the $3 off coupon during the 90% off sale last year was just as PO'ed this morning.

Here is the thing:

Green Tag works with this, but, the Green tag item has to be 19.99 before the promo knocks it down, ex:

Green Tag Item Spy Fiction $19.99 Green Tag will go down to $9.98 and will work with two other games $19.99 and under, but Guilty Gear Isuka $29.99 (Green Tagged) will not work because it was not $19.99 BEFORE knock down, anyway blah blah blah,

On the bright side of things, Shadow of Rome and Mech Assault 2 LE are both $19.99 so yay!!!

thats good news! thanks, so can I assume that I can use it on the games that are $9.99 since they are under $19.99?

I was sifting through the green tags this morning at the Bellevue, WA TRU, and discovered someone had hidden an unpriced copy of Call of Duty for PS2. I was tempted, but I realized it was probably hidden by another CAGer. So to whoever hid it, you'd better pick it up soon! ;)

I'd imagine this has been posted somewhere in this thread, but I can't go through all 69 pages and check.

One recent green tagged game is Dead To Rights II for PS2 at $49.99 (or .95 i forget).

I saw Guilty Gear Isuka and Metriod Zero Mission at my local Toys R Us. I hid them somewhere, can't wait for the 70% off sale. I ended up buying an used Dragon Warrior III for GBC for $10, and pre-ordered GTA:LCS for the psp.

Just a FYI, checked on COD: FH today and the $5 activision deal is deffinantly over. So its actually more to get them now ($10) then during that last deal ($5)

Especially if the other B2G1 free sale is coming up soon (the annual sale for all games). I don't think they would mark down green tag games to 70% until after that sale.

If anyone had read anything, the 70% green tag increase is still unknown at the store level, unless the Store Director is hiding something. But the intranet corporate news system states nothing about it at all.

Just be patient, it will be coming.... soon, I hope.
Anyone bought Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for $10 in store this week?
$10?? I thought it was still 50% off which would be $17.50...did the price drop on this?

picked up the last copy of Guilty Gear at my local store, i saw Chrystal Chronicles and was tempted but id much rather wait till 70% or a markdown like Guilty Gear got

It's still $17.50. It's only $10 on the website. Dude is wrong.

Waiting 70% off is worth it but you can combine buy 2 get 1 free plus 50% off is even better deal..... Seem like i have to hit TRU later today as soon as possible b4 all gone.

Actually, B2G1 w/ the two green tag games being 50% off comes out to 66% off, versus 70%:

Red Dead Revolver, Sudeki, and Ghosthunter - all originally $20 (or $19.95, to be exact)

With 70% off, they're each $6 + tax.

With B2G1 and 50% off two of them, you pay $20 + tax, so roughly $6.66 per game.

Close enough that it doesn't matter to me ;)

Note that you can substitute a non-green tag game as the free one, and still have the total come out to $20 + tax. You just need the cashier to ring that one up last :)

Doesn't the cash register automatically make the cheapest game free? So that the order doesn't matter? That's usually the case...

If they're all the same price it'll take the last one, I believe. And it goes by the pre-discounted price, so a green tagged $19.99 game is the same as a non-green tagged $19.99 game.

Yep, the register uses the last one, if they were all the same price originally. Most of the games are $19.95, though some are $19.99. Don't stick in a $19.99 non-green tag game with some green-tagged $19.95 games, or you'll pay ~$30 for the three.

EDIT:

I'm not POSITIVE this is the way it works, as I used three $19.95 games every time.

I recommanded.... handover or ask the cashier ring up (2) 50% off clearance games and ring up non-green tag last. That is the only way you pay $20 plus taxes and get the non-green tag game for FREE ;)
My local TRU has at least 10 copies of Guilty Gear X2 Reload as of yesterday.
I thought Isuka was the green tag one not Reload
I thought Isuka was the green tag one not Reload
Reload isn't green-tagged, though you can get it free if you buy two green-tagged $20 games, and you'll only pay $20 total ;)

Both are GT'd.
Thanks! Boy, it sure is nice to have a TRU employee here.
*shrug* I thought about it and it's a IRC situation...if it's not then I'll gladly sell my copy for $10.

And I actually don't work at TRU anymore. They pay me more to work at Panda Express but I stop into my old TRU all the time to see how my R-Zone is doing.

I can also confirm Reload is green tagged. I saw it a few days ago with a green tag

Has anyone bought more than 3 games on 1 receipt. I doubt it will be a problem but if I buy 6 games, it will still give me 2 free games right?
