Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.
I can also confirm Reload is green tagged. I saw it a few days ago with a green tag

Has anyone bought more than 3 games on 1 receipt. I doubt it will be a problem but if I buy 6 games, it will still give me 2 free games right?
Oh, my above post is 99% sure post that it is GT.

That's always the way the system worked. I remember last year when people bought like 9 copies of GTA SA with the buy 2 get 3rd free (getting 3 of them free ofcourse).

Was at the TRU in Kennesaw, GA today. Checking out if there was anything worth getting with the b2g1f on top of green tag. There was a guy there buying a stack of 60 games. He said he was going to several TRU to pick things up. Lets just say any green tag worth a damn was now in his hands. He was getting every copy of Katamari, Musashi, Hitman 2, Sega Superstars, etc. With a few people going crazy over the current deal and the next upcoming b2g1f I don't see anything making it to the next markdowns worth a damn....

That guys a shithead. He takes away games from the rest of us, that might actually play them. What a loser. Since all my TRU has left is like Syphon Filter, I probably won't be jumping on this.

I bet they're on eBay as I type this... What an a'hole.

They should put a limit on how many copies of each game you can buy.

wait so let me get this green tag glitch. i get 2 green tagged items and I put in one non green tag item and i get that non green tagged item for free? and how much $$ does this green tag item have to be so that it still works? 20$ and below?

Just ignore the green tag part. Just make sure that before the discounted prices, the non-green tagged game is the cheapest one. So either all the same price and its the last one scanned, or its initial price is cheaper. Then its free, and then the green tag discounts are taken. And there's two active threads about different B2G1F sales, so see those for restrictions.
So the deal works with green tags?
yes, maybe you should read a little bit of the thread beforehand, before posting ok?
So the deal works with green tags?
I posted this in the other thread, but just to put to rest the green-tag questions (and mixing them with regular-priced games), here's what my receipt showed:

PS2 Alien Hominid: $0.00

All the $10 games were green-tagged ($19.95 to $19.99 original prices) except Alien Hominid, which was $19.95. I made sure to get it third in the stack - all of these were rung up on the same receipt - so just make sure your "trios" are the same prices, with the non-green tagged on the bottom.
I posted this in the other thread, but just to put to rest the green-tag questions (and mixing them with regular-priced games), here's what my receipt showed:

Xbox Galleon: $9.97
PS2 Katamari: $9.99
PS2 Alien Hominid: $0.00
PS2 Trivial Pursuit: $4.99
PS2 Trivial Pursuit: $4.99
PS2 Trivial Pursuit: $0.00
PS2 Sega Superstars: $9.97
PS2 Nightmare Druaga: $9.97
Xbox Galleon: $0.00

Is TRU one to order games not in stock (Stella Deus) based on customer demand? Or is it only what they get in stock is what they get in stock.
Did anyone get Baten Kaitos (w/ soundtrack) for 50% off? My TRU had it, but rang up at $29.99. I need return it now :(.
Mine rings up $29.99 too, which makes me oh so sad.

Is Goldensun: THe Lost Age green tagged too? My Toys R Us has a few. I loved the origina. I beaten it, but have yet to play the 2nd part. If its $10 I'm gonna go buy it right now.

I don't think it is. I tried scanning it today and it wasn't green tagged. Still 19.99. It might be the first Golden Sun thats on the green tag list?
yes, maybe you should read a little bit of the thread beforehand, before posting ok?
Woah, ease off, man. The thread is 70 freaking pages at the point of his post... ok?
Actually, B2G1 w/ the two green tag games being 50% off comes out to 66% off, versus 70%:

Red Dead Revolver, Sudeki, and Ghosthunter - all originally $20 (or $19.95, to be exact)

With 70% off, they're each $6 + tax.

With B2G1 and 50% off two of them, you pay $20 + tax, so roughly $6.66 per game.

Close enough that it doesn't matter to me ;)

Note that you can substitute a non-green tag game as the free one, and still have the total come out to $20 + tax. You just need the cashier to ring that one up last :)
I love CAG... and there is no way I'm waiting for that extra 4% off when I can do this now and have a greater selection because less has been pillaged and 1/3 of the games can be non green-tagged... I love CAG.

Yes I picked up 2 copies of Baten Kaitos for $15 After GT....

So lets say I buy two green tag games (19.95) each and I buy a nongreen tagged game (19.99) will I still get the 19.99 game for free if I tell them to scan that game last

Thanks

Nope, one of the 19.95 games will be free.
What are the newest games that were green tagged or is the complete list in the first post.
Somewhere on page 54 are additional games.

Sorry, no special orders. I wish my TRU would get it too. One of the few ATLUS PS2 games that I'm missing.
Nope, one of the 19.95 games will be free.
No - youll get the 19.99 one for free. I went and bought Mushashi, Ghosthunter(both 19.95 green tag) and Jak 2. They scanned Jak 2 first, and total was $30. I told the lady to redo the order and scan Jak 2 last - she did and total was $20.

Btw, Jak 2 was a non-gh. They have some covering over the shrinkwrap but under the plastic case to say GH, but the side of the game showed that it wasn't. Wo0t.

Uh... then that's totally whack, since there's no way in hell the 19.99 game was cheapest.
no complaints here - i just did what someone earlier said to do.
You're mixing up the prices. Jak 2 is 19.95. If you buy a 19.95 GT, a 19.95 GT, and a 19.95 non-GT, you'll get whichever game was scanned last for free, even the non-GT one.

botticus was asking about a 19.95 GT, 19.95 GT, and 19.99 non-GT, in which case you'll get one of the 19.95 GT games for free since 19.95 is the least expensive.

Anyways, today I got:

Hitman 2 XBox $19.99 GT - $9.99
Musashi PS2 $19.95 GT - $9.97
Zelda WW $19.95 - $0.00

picked up:

Nightmare of Druaga 9.99
Galleon $9.99
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection FREE

Trivial Pursuit 4.99
Trivial Pursuit 4.99
Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness FREE
Just to confirm from a few pages ago, Guilty Gear X2 #Reload for Xbox is Green Tagged?
Yes, or, well, it was at my local store... had a greentag of $19.99

How'd you get SFAC for free? Isn't this currently $30 before the green tag discount?

It's 19.99 and it's NOT green tagged.

I got mine and it was green tagged at 29.95, but that was a month ago.
Interesting, thanks for the info. Was it the XBox or PS 2 version?
I have only seen the xbox version (that I got free with the 2f1 deal) and it was $19.95.
Just to confirm from a few pages ago, Guilty Gear X2 #Reload for Xbox is Green Tagged?
Yep. I saw it in my store again on the Green Tag shelf.

Alright, so I hid two copies of Trivial Pursuit to pick up this weekend to trade in. Now I need a third game. Do I go with a crappy 9.99 GC game like Intellivision Lives, or is there a crappy XB or PS2 9.99 game that trades in for more than a dollar at GR?

Near the end of my shift tongiht, I went to grab a few games to pick up via "the glitch" on payday. I was thinking COD: FH, Musashi and XMen Legends. As I was walking down the aisle, some little bastard grabbed the last ticket for COD: FH. I was not too happy. So figured I'd give Tron 2.0 a shot.

BTW - What's the big deal with Gallop Racer? We have one copy of 2004 left on GT, it's been sitting there ever since the GT event started.

It seems its fairly rare, I've never looked for it.

PS2 Demon Stone $9.97
PS2 Katamari $9.99
PS2 Hot Shots Golf Fore $0.00

PS2 Robots $9.97
Xbox Galleon $9.97
PS2 Suikoden IV $0.00

So, with tax, $7 for each game. I have no idea what I'm going to do with Demon Stone or Robots, but for $7 I can hold on to them. Did I already mention how much I like this deal? :D. I mean, except for the fact that you might have to buy a few games that weren't your first choice, you are basically getting a non-green tag game like Suikoden IV for a roughly 70% green-tagged value, and it is not even time for 70% yet.

I had to stop the clerk in one case from ringing up the "normal" game second (instead of third) - she kept saying it doesn't matter, the computer picks the free one anyway, but I didn't want to take my chances :). I don't think she realized one was not 50% off to begin with.

By the way, the Tyson's Corner, VA, Rockville, MD, and Gaithersburg, MD TRU's all have multiple Suikoden IV's. At least 2 of those also had Katamari - not green-tagged, so they might stick around for a bit. Lots of other $19.99 green-tagged games to match up with the regular priced ones - I think I saw that Guilty Gear game everyone talks about, and also piles of CoD:FH.
