Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.
Yep, NoD, Galleon, and Medabots: Infinity all trade in for $19, and can be had for $9.97 at TRU.
And B2G1F too, until today.

I went to the TRU in Bangor, ME and the glitch was not working today when I tried it, so instead I just ended up getting 3 GT games which brought my total to the $20. Not as good of a deal but I've already done the glitch 3 times before today to get 9 other games (and now 3 more), plus I got CoD: FH (PS2) when it was $5 with the Activision coupon for a total of 13 games.

$5.23 - 1 game (CoD: FH [PS2] for 9.98 - $5 coupon)
$20.96 - 3 games (2 GT, 1 NON-GT)
$20.96 - 3 games (2 GT, 1 NON-GT)
$20.96 - 3 games (2 GT, 1 NON-GT)
$17.81 - 3 games (3 GT, with $3 survey coupon used)
TOTAL: $85.92 for 13 games (10 GT, 3 NON-GT)

That's an average of $6.61/game, now that's an awesome sale! I feel so spoiled being a CAG! :)

I can't wait until the 23rd now! :)
I went to the TRU in Bangor, ME and the glitch was not working today when I tried it
Glitch didn't work for me at first today. Then I realized my non-GT game (Beyond Good and Evil) was 19.99 and my GT games were only 19.95. Switched it out for MGS2 GC and it was fine. Glitch still alive and working for me. (Were your games all the same prices today?)

I noticed "Ace Combat 05: The Unsung War" was added to green tag at $49.99 yesterday. Not yet a deal, but maybe at 70% off. "Dragon Ball Z Sagas" (PS2) was still green tagged at $39.99, yet seems to have dropped to $19.99 regular price everywhere else I've seen it lately, so hopefully TRU will drop it too.

I picked up extra copies of a few games I had already bought before the sale just to take advantage of the glitch, so if anyone else wants them before I return them and get my $10.70 back, PM me.

Each $13 shipped (trades also accepted):
-----------------------------------------------------
Musashi Samurai Legend (PS2)
Katamari Demacy (PS2)
Tron 2.0 Killer App (Xbox)

Is there a green tag trade forum on CAG?

Hopefully we will get word on when the 70% sale will go into effect.

The two games I tried to pick up were Guilty Gear X2 (XB) for 19.99 (GT) and Tron 2.0 which was 19.95 (GT) and then Raze's Hell (XB) for 19.99 NON-GT, so maybe that was it. Maybe it gave me Tron for free because it was the lowest one (now that you mention it). Oh well, it's better to know that now so I can go back for the 23rd and get the glitch to work.

The computer looks at the 3 games and sees 19.99, 19.95, and 19.99 and takes the cheapest one off, which is hte 19.95 GT. If you had a 19.95 non-GT as your third game, or if you had another 19.99 GT game for your second it would have worked.

I looked through a few pages of this thread, but I was wondering what is the current price for Dead to Rights 2 for the Xbox? I guess it still has a trade-in value of $27 at Gamerush.

Thanks

I'm 99% sure it's 49.99 GT.

Thought this was worth tossing in here:
Yeah, these [PSOne LCD] were just added to Green Tag as of Sunday, along with some other game hardware items. Most notably that I can think of off the top of my head besides that were XBox Memory units, some generic PS2 controllers, and XBox system link cables.

Also, if you're lucky enough to find an old version of a console- PS2 (non slim; i.e fat PS2), old Gamecube (Zelda or Metroid bundle), or older XBox SKUs- they're green tag. I looked in our system at work, a few do in fact exist here and there.

Actually, yes, I totally forgot about this. The old NES and Green & Orange SP is also new to the green tag list.
If you see any white Wavebirds (not the platinums), try ringing them up. I found a bunch for $17.50 each. It was mentioned earlier in the thread that only older Wavebird SKUs were green tagged, so maybe I just got lucky. Or perhaps all the white ones now work since they expanded the hardware list on Sunday.

And yes, the GameCube Metroid Bundle is $50. Anyone try the SSBM Bundle yet?

Also, try scanning the XBox and PS2 7.2" LCD screens if you're interested. I checked one of the PS2 screens and it scanned at half price ($75). Still too rich for my blood.

The Xbox 7.2" screen was NOT green tagged as of Saturday, I'm not sure when that new list of green tagged items was implemented though.

The new hardware items were added to the green tag list on Sunday. For example, I bought a PSOne LCD on Saturday and it was not a green tag item. But on Sunday, people have confirmed that it started ringing up as a green tag item.

I didn't ring up the XB LCD screen specifically, so I can't say if it's green tagged now or not. But if I had to guess, I'd say the chances are decent since the PS2 screens are now GT'd.

And what's nice is that most stores haven't slapped green tags on any of the new hardware yet, so they're not picked over.

....The hardware looks AWESOMEEEEEEEE. I'd love to pick up one of those GC bundles, and one of the old X-Boxes. I could use a GBA SP too. ....How awesome would it be if you got one then the next green tag drop went into affect before the pricematching thing (14 days IIRC) ended? SWEETNESS!!!!!

How much is it for an xbox and a ps2? Did you say duke controllers only for the xbox?

I wish you put the hardware on the first post :/

My store had 2 Metroid bundles left. I picked up one and my Director is picking up the other. Also PS2 hard drive is green tag.
Nice to know PS2 HDD is green-tagged! Does anyone still play FFXI on it? I might pick it up...
I do, many people do actually. Having a place to back up saves is pretty nice too. Not to mention if you play Socom or Resident Evil Outbreak games
Also PS2 hard drive is green tag.
Shit! Just last night, I had the lady scan it and she told me it wasn't GT. Oh well, I'd rather get one when the 70% hits. Maybe I'll get two. My TRU still has a bunch.

I did get the last PSOne LCD for $12 though.

I was really tempted to pick it back up again when they did their repopulation campaign. Unfortunately, I missed it. Now I don't know if I'll go back again.

However, the HDD is great. Wasn't really worth $80, but having a 40GB HDD (with some limitations and work-arounds) was worth it.

I was lucky last night and found a Metroid bundle.

One thing that I noticed no one posted yet is the Xbox Live 12 month kit w/Mechassault is GT for $34.99. Not a bad deal...they'll be hot when 70% off hits...for $21.

how much is the harddrive going for now? I already have one, paid full price first day of release. it was worth it...
but you know...

Sorry if this has been posted before. The TRU I went to last night did not have Timesplitters: FP and Feel the Magic DS green tagged. But it's been mentioned here that they're on the official list. Will it still be discounted when rung up?

Yes, some stores didn't put green tags on the newer additions but when you go to the register, after totalled, you will get the green tag price.

Yes, my local store hasn't updated any of their green tags either. I'm hoping that they won't bother at all and no one will know they're on saly so they will last till the 70% off.

When will the 70% sale begin? Has anyone mentioned that (Sorry...I dont want to backtrack and read all the posts)

went to TWO TRUs that had multiple Final Fantasy HDDs... they both said it was NOT GTed... they seemed to have been telling the truth as when I brought up games they told me which ones were GTed accurately?...

Or is it that I just need to try to purchase one and the price will ring up correctly?

It did say "promo". Btw -- is the first eye toy GT?

Thx.

AFAIK, the ps2 HDD is not GT'd yet. The hope is that it will be GT'd in the near future or at least for the 70% sale.

I'm calling bullshit here...on you actually having 2 left. The bundle is more than a year old unless you had them hidden which I doubt.

You've given *some* reliable information here. But your information about the Buy 2 get the 3rd free "glitch" being fixed was wrong and some of your other recent information has been really sketchy.

As previously stated, the 70% jump is still unknown at store level, possibly even higher. There were only set dates for the 30% and 50% GT; anything beyond is going to be based on sales figures.

Well, people have reported that it's GT'd. And if it is, it would be universal.

I was told it was not GT'd by a TRU employee, but I didn't have it scanned at a register. Next time I'm there, I'm just having it rung up at the register and let them total it to see what happens.
Don't any of your TRUs have price checkers? GT items show up the discounted price on the checker in my store.
Some have them, some don't. In my case, one store does, one doesn't.

But in the case of many of the recently GT'd hardware items (GameCube Bundles, PS2 Hard Drive), they're in the glass case and you're kind of at the whim of the TRU employee.

Ahh, we still have the old paper ticket system at our store... The hardware items are in a case as well, but the purchase tickets are hanging directly above it.

If I remember to, I'll check on the HDD tonight at my store.

My TRU is the same way with the hardware setup as this store still uses tickets for all games over $20. I stopped by today as I remembered seeing the Metroid GameCube bundle afew months back & figured I'd check to see if they were still around. While I was there I checked Final Fantasy XI and it wasen't Green Tagged still $99.99

$50 would still be too much....

But it's not GT'd so it's ok.

Ahh, do you still have parallel aisles too? Like 14 or so gigantic aisles running from one end of the store to the other? That layout was bliss...such good memories, the older styled stores were so much better. I hate the new (relatively new) layout of X-shaped aisles everywhere...it just seems so...hollow and shallow.
