Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.

**** = EXTREME YMMV - only offered online, only way you'll find it in a store is if someone returned it from online.

If someone can pick up PSO 1+2 Plus for me, I am willig to pay a few dollars for your effort. I should be able to get one extra SMT:N.

Got back, only got Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (PS2) for $15. They had a ton of R-Type finals. I was looking for Gradius V since I already have R-Type. No SMT:N, but they had several Phantom Braves (but they weren't the Special Editions) and one Katamari Damacy.

Here are my finds from that sale today:

Final Fantasy Tactics (GBA) - $17.49
Devil May Cry 2 (PS2) - $9.99
Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone (PS2) - $9.99
Shadow Hearts: Covenant (PS2) - $9.99
Ghosthunter (PS2) - $9.99
Drake (XB, 2 copies, trades in for $15 at FYE) - $4.24

Best of all, if you purchased a 30% off item in the last 30 days, they'll do a price adjustment with your receipt. I bought Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne for $34.99 a few weeks ago, so I'm taking my receipt back up to the store to get my $10 back...

Anyone willing to pick me up a copy of Shadow Hearts: Covenant and R-Type Final? I'll give you cost+shipping. (That should be around $18.50 or so)

EDIT: Maybe we should start a request thread.

Went back, was REALLY hoping for Gradius V and Astro Boy (GBA), but they were out of both. I did manage to snag Onimusha 3, Metroid Fusion, and Metroid Zero Mission for 41.95 out the door, not too shabby.

My TRU had very little that either I wouldn't consider buying or just didn't already own. The trip wasn't a total bust, though; I picked up Intellivision Lives (GC) for $5, which I'm happy about. I did keep my eyes open for some requested items mentioned above, but alas, nothing.

Silly question, but are the green-tagged games 50% off yet? The OP hasn't been updated, and I paged back a few and didn't see any solid evidence. Thanks for anyone who enlightens me.

HHAHAHAHAHAHA

Edit: It occured to me that you weren't being sarcastic. 1st post, 2nd paragraph.

The paragraph you mention states: "Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells."

Since that post hasn't been edited since Aug. 5 and it mentions the date may change, it's not the most concrete of evidence -- hence my question.

Fair enough. It started today.
Has anyone had any luck finding copies of Final Fantasy 7, both TRU's I stopped at had none. :(
Not to laugh but...

Are you actually expecting ANYONE to find this?

My friend found a copy of Onimusha 3, and I got Jampack 11 (the one with Snake Eater and Burnout 3). Might anyone know if that Jampack is POX? 'Cause if not I might get myself $10 towards Twilight Princess.

Vero Beach / FL store has/had them... these are the Greatest Hits versions though. I picked up Final Fantasy Tactics at the same store.

Yeah, this sale is pretty tame. I went to two TRUs (Emeryville & Pinole, CA) and only saw one other CAGer. Everyone else was there for Madden or whatever. It's probably because all the must-haves aren't there. No SMT:Nocturne, GBA Astroboy, La PuCelle Tactics, Golden Sun.

Picked up:
FF Tactics (should be more left)
Metroid Zero Mission (no more at Emeryville, 1 more at Pinole; btw, both places have at least 2 copies of Fusion; I didn't get it because I sadly don't have much time for games anymore)
Baiten Kaitos (for $30! That's not what I wanted... but I'm too lazy to return it and it's a good game right?)
2 GC carrying case / bundle thingies (no more correctly tagged ones at Emeryville, the other ones ring up for $30 or something; not sure if Pinole has correctly tagged ones)

Other notables:
Onimusha 3 at Pinole
Nightmare of Druaga at both (that game survives all the clearances...)

No GC Prince of Persia, Rivercity Ransom, R-Type Final, Gradius V (well, I didn't check behind games, so maybe there is one hidden?)

Picked up Onmusha 3, FFT, and Legend of Dragoon. None of the games I planned on getting(Katamari Damacy, MMX8), but still pretty good.

I found SMT: Nocturne but I really didn't have the $$$ to get it. :hot:

I just picked up Onimusha 3, Katamari Damacy, and Final Fantasy Tactics.

Sale was a bust for me as well, only found Street Fighter Anniversary and Zero Mission.

Was anybody able to find any of these? Would love to buy/trade for them. My Toys R Us had some Metal Slug 3s for $20 I could pick up if somebody was looking for that (hitting myself for buying it used at $25)

Fatal Frame 2
Firefighter FD18
Shadow Hearts Covenant
River City Ransom
Shining Soul 2

Sale was incredibly lame for me too, only found an Onimusha 3 and a Red Dead Revolver (XB). Spent almost as much in gas as the discount was ;.;

I went to two TRUs, first on northern blvd, queens, ny had jack except a few copies of Katamari Damacy, one of which I promptly snagged. I was thinking of Demon Stone, but I didn't read any reviews before going and there were just stacks of it there so I figured I'd pass. I was kinda bummed with this first trip so I made a trip over to another TRU in flushing and after waiting out in the scorching sun for 15 minutes because they opened at 11am (couldn't they just let people wait in the lobby?) I managed to score Shin Megumi Tensei: Nocturne (they had 2) and the last Onimusha 3.

So now I'm pretty happy, but I wish I coulda found a few other titles like Castlevania, Chaos Legion, Soul Calibur 2, or River City Ransom for the GBA. Anyone have any luck with those?

damn i was gonna head over to the northern blvd one since i live like 5 min away. how much was nocturne? also lunk have you tried the toyrus in the city?

Bah! I was just there at Emeryville! I got there around 11:30 so you must have just left when I got in. So you're the reason why I didn't pick up Zero Mission? Oh well, I hope Hayward store has it, I'm going there in a sec to get the difference back on the SMT:N I bought on Friday.

Here's what I bought from Emeryville-
Second Sight PS2 $5
Smuggler's Run PS2 $3.50
Timesplitters 2 GC $5
Disney's PK GC $5

Nothing spectular, just for collection's sake mostly. I did want Second Sight on Cube so if I find it later I'll return the PS2 copy. Off to another TRU I go.

Nocturne was at the Flushing one and cost $25+tax. They only had the sequel at Northern (Comes in a nice box too, I hope it drops soon). Stayed out of manhattan because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of traffic/parking.
Is the PS2 version of Street Fighter Anniversary Collection worth $15. I'm having a hard time deciding to get it now or wait.
Only the XB version is online though... so that might be a better option even if costs more... of course the XB controller is crappy (for fighters) but you can probably get an adapter to rectify that.
70% off starts Sept 27th-
All the good stuff will probably be gone by then.
where online do you go to get these deals?
Amazon but the shipping is expensive, nullifying the savings.

Picked up
FF Tactics Advance (GBA) for $17 - yeah not that cheap but wanted it for a while
R-Type Final (PS2) for $5
and Tenchu Xbox (Darkness or something) for $2. It had a hand written green price tag of $3.98 on it

Picked up GC Platinum Pro Gamer's Kit for 5.49. Not bad seeing as how I get a decent storage case along with an accesory pack that includes a controller, 4 mb memory card, 6 game cases and an extension cable.

Nothing worth picking up at the TRU here in Abq NM. I almost picked up FFT for PS1 for $7.50, but I never even play FFT:A so I didn't figure it was worth it for me. They had Katamari Damacy for $10, but I already have it.

I have to say that Street Fighter Anniversary Collection was worth it for SF 3 alone. I have never played SF 3 before and I'm loving it. Where has this game been all my life? I may now have to consider getting the Xbox version if it is ever cheap just to play SF3 online.

I'm still bummed that I couldn't find Final Fantasy Tactics Advance or Metroid Zero for GBA. I'm now considering buying them online but the shipping and tax suck. Such a hard decision....

Picked up Astroboy and both Metroids for GA. Decided to skid on Mario Golf GBA. Is River City Ransom for GBA worth picking up? I did see that at another TRU closer to work.

i hate the ticket system, that tru has. I went down to Tru today, and i was pysched because i found the ticket for nocturne. I buy it, they go it the security thing. They look for 20 minutes. They say they can't find it, and refund me my money.

Anyone have anything to say good or bad about Future Tactics for GC? Never heard of it, curious if it's worth picking up for $10.

kinda OT, but anyone see any good lego sets for cheap? I just started getting back into them after abandoning them for a few years. I found those miniature star wars 'sets' for $3.50 each after green tag so I got two for my little brother(millenium falcon and an at-at). I also got him a ~300 piece spiderman set for $10 after savings. they had various spiderman sets also on clearance around the same price range as well as harry potter sets(I don't really care for the franchise so I skipped them). I was hoping for some full size sta wars lego sets but no such luck.

Today I purchased

Monster Rancher 4 - 2 copies
Gradius V - 1 copy
Gallop Racer 2004
RDR (Xbox)
Maximo
Metal Slug 3 (playing it now - really fun)

Grabbed Thief Xbox for $15, I would have spent the extra $5 in gas looking for it during that CC sale anyway...

Also picked up Legend of Dragoon PS1. Been curious about it for years, $7 new is cheap enough to finally try it out. There were many other greentagged games still there, but I just stuck with those two. Already too many games on the shelf I haven't played.

went to 3 TRUs today

at the first one got

trivial pursuit $5 x2 (trades for 15 at FYE)
Toca Race Driver 2 $10
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance GC $5

at the 2nd
Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne $25 (Last one left!!! and my highest want)
Sabre Wolf $7.50

at the 3rd
R-Type Final $5 x2 (trades for $15 at FYE)
Gundam Battle Scarred Burning Gundam Figure $3.xx

not a bad round. was mad i passed on phantasy star online 1 & 2 plus when they were 30% off though since non of the TRUs had any now. glad i found a copy of nocturne though

Got back from TRU in Hayward, went to get the $10 from the SMT I got on Fri. They had nothing much there, I was going to grab Spy Fiction but they had tons of copies. I did pick up 2 Brother Bear bean bags for 75 cents each though.
Anyone have anything to say good or bad about Future Tactics for GC? Never heard of it, curious if it's worth picking up for $10.
Supposedly it wasnt too bad, should be worth picking up at ten.

I have to get my hands on Demon Stone, Shadow Hearts, Nocturne, .hack Infection, and FFCC. I have a Baten Kaitos sealed for one of those if anyone is interested. All i got today was Onimusha 3 and Red Dead Revolver
70% off starts Sept 27th-
Damn, that's pretty sweet. I might wait to get Spy Fiction at 70% off since they had like 50 copies.
