Here it is, the green tag thread for this year. I posted last years and decided it was probably time to start this years thread, so hopefully everything can stay in here. Anyway, on with the deal...

Starting July 3rd(started 2 weeks early) all green tag items will be 30% off. This will last for 4 weeks, then on August 14th they will be upped to 50% off and remain this way(date may be changed slightly). An additional drop will occur based on how good the stuff sells.

This year, they are actually ordering merchandise specifically for the green tag sale. Over 200 items are being ordered just for the sale. Besides that, there will be discontinued items and a few active items in the sale. Also, some green tag items from last year didn't drop to a penny. These items will be part of the sale(so instead of 90% off, you get 30% off now).

Monday July 4th - the big day. Stores get a list of what they have that will be on green tag. Stores can also look up every item thats part of the sale, so this is the day the list will most likely be out.

So it looks like there will be some good deals, but probably not as good as last year. I'm sure they'll make a few mistakes people will catch at the beginning(such as DDR being green tag for the first few days last year). Zon posted that his store got in some green tag games late last week, so its possible those may be part of this new deal(Attack of the Clones for GBA was one I think). Good luck everyone and lets hope this ends up being as great as last year.

Update 8/5 - The 50% markdown happens Sunday 8/14 definitely. Stores have started receiving the signs, so all those who were hoping it would happen then are in luck! More markdowns are still to be determined based on how good the stuff sells at 50%.

UPDATE 10/27 - THE GLITCH! Since everyone still can't seem to get the glitch correctly, here it is. Take 3 games you want for the Buy 2 get 1 free deal and make sure they are all exactly the same price. They cannot even be a penny different in price. Two of them must be green tag games and the third must be a regular price game. Make sure that the cashier rings the two green tag games first then the regular priced game. The system will give you both green tag games for half off and the regular priced game will be free. Here are two examples for those who still do not understand.

Transaction 1(this will ring correctly):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $14.99(green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $0.00(regular priced game)
Total $29.98

Transaction 2(this does not ring correctly because you gave them to the cashier in the wrong order):
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $29.99(green tag game)
Total before discount $89.97
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
PS2 MTV Remix 3 $0.00(green tag game)
Total $44.98

Transaction 3(this does not ring correctly either because you don't know how to buy 3 games that are the EXACT SAME PRICE):
PS2Mega Man Anniversary Collection $29.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $29.95 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total before discount $89.93
Then the discount is processed and you get this:
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection $14.99 (green tag game)
PS2 La Purcelle Tactics $0.00 (green tag game)
XB Ninja Gaiden Black $29.99(regular priced game)
Total $44.98

Update 2 - 10/27 - THERE IS STILL NO CONFIRMED DATE FOR MORE THAN 50% OFF. It is all rumors as of right now. According to corporate, bigger discounts will be based on sell through of the merchandise, which right now seems to be going along with plan. I wouldn't expect until the end of November or December at the earliest to get a bigger percantage off, but once again that is not confirmed and just speculation. It wasn't until after Christmas last year the 90% hit.

Special thanks to Zon and Benboxer for their contributions to the green tag sale info.

Here's the list, prices are before discount(NOW COMPLETE!):

Score indeed. I had to buy something, I was sad there was no MMX8, MMAC, or FFFD18 so I comforted myself with 2 bears. They had the Moose from the movie too but I passed.

Anyone see any Zoids toys green tagged? I saw a couple but they were really ugly ones. I just want a nice looking one to put on my shelf since this past week I got most of the Zoids DVD collection from the 3.99 anime at Big Lots.

Pretty good weekend here in N.C.
Saturday I picked up Madden 2006 w/ CC pricematch and X-men legends for $45 plus tax. I also was buying Kung Fu Hustle and the lady price matched it in the CC ad for $5.99. She said someone had done this earlier and thought I'd like that deal to.
Today I picked up from TRU:
SMT-$25, Onimusha 3-$7.50, Viewtiful Joe GC-$10, Timesplitters 2-$5, and Legacy of Kain Defiance-$10.
There were several of these:Maximo GTG, Demon Stone(PS2/xbox), Driver 3(xbox), Megaman Anniversary(PS2/xbox), Red Dead Revolver(PS2), Smuggler's Run, Silent Hill 3, 7 Samuri 20XX, Downhill Domination, Worms 3D, Resident Evil Outbreak, Onimusha 3, Monster Rancher 4, Astro Boy, Risk GD, Metal Slug 3(xbox), Hitman Contracts(xbox), Baten Kaitos, FF tactics (GBA), Fire Emblem, Mario Golf (GBA), FF tactics (PS1), Brokem Sword(GBA), Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, Gallop Racer 2004, Men of Valor, Vietcong Purplehaze, Sudeki, Yourself Fitness(ugggh), Fortress (GBA), I cant recall much else. I'd pickup any combination, within reason, and trade for a sealed Disgaea:HoD

Can you pick up Megaman Anniversary, Silent Hill 3, FF Tactics (PS1), and SMT for me? I'll pay for the games plus shipping.

Do they have to have the game in stock to do the price difference from the 25% off sale?

What I mean is...I bought Nocturne last month for $34.99 and now it's $25. Do they have to physically have the game in stock to get my $9.99 refund from the markdown?

I got the last SMT. The two TRU I went to were about an hour from me but if I go back I'll see if I can help you out. Of course if someone has a sealed Disgaea then I'd go out of my way.

who said it was being reprinted?

Did well at my TRU (sunrise hwy, long island)

Drake - 2.24
Nightmare of Druaga - 10
Kung Fu Chaos - 5
Medabots - 5

You might have to look around a bit, as the staff didn't tag all of the items that come up on sale.

Anyone in the Milwaukee area, try the 27th St. store first; they had numerous copies of R-Type Final. Brookfield Square TRU had Rocky, Defender, and a number of the $10 tagged games ($5 after sale). The Racine store has virtually nothing that the two Milwaukee stored didn't.

Didn't see SMT: Nocturne, or any of the YMMV games at any of the area locations. Plenty of copies of FFTA, Custom Robo, and the Metroid games at all three locations when I went through.

What I did find:
Godzilla: DAMM (GC) -- $7.50 -- not $5 as listed in the OP
Intec PS2 DVD Remote -- $7.50
Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars (GBA) -- $10
Trivial Pursuit Unhinged (PS2) -- $5

I picked up today at 50% off:

Dynasty Warriors 4 Empires ($15)
Drakengard ($10)

The TRU I went to also has plenty of copies of Broken Sword GBA and a bunch of Katamari Damacy games if anyone is interested. The clerk also said they would be getting a restock of Shin Megami Tensei in a week or so.
Anyone have anything to say good or bad about Future Tactics for GC? Never heard of it, curious if it's worth picking up for $10.
I believe I've seen this new and sealed at EB B&M for $4.99. I've been curious about it too, but the reviews have made me not want to waste even $5 to check it out :p

I did fairly well at my TRU.

PS2 Worms 3D $14.99
XB Kung Fu Chaos $5.00
PS2 Bujingai $20
PS2 Ghosthunter $10
XB BloodRayne $1.74

Also picked of for free, a preorder case for "The Red Star" on xBox. Great game, now I have a case for my disk.. :) I heard a rumor that this might be picked up by another publisher. No the disk is not for sale, trade or anything.

And some Penny Guides:
Halo
Resident Evil Outbreak
Jak 3
The Urbs

What is the deal with the "Promotional Item Not for Resale" Midway Arcade Teasures? My local store has tons of them, but they all ring up at $20? They also had some music samplers for $39.95, again labelled at "Promotional Item Not for Resale" ....hell of deal, NOT!

"Demikids Dark Version $29.99 (good luck)"

Why does it say that? There were plenty at mine ( I got one) and the game doesnt seem to be that pricey or wanted. I might take it back this week. It's for trade if anyone i sinterested.

Also picked up a Taiko Drum Master from best Buy for $35

The Midways were a penny, they just went up Thursday. If you buy any video game and most accessories, the Midways will ring up free. Theres a video game promotion deal where they ring free until 12/31.

Is it one free item per purchase no matter how many items you buy or one free item per game? Like if I bought 2 games, would 2 promotional DVD's/CD's ring up for free or would only one ring up for free per transaction?

Also, does it work with ANY game? Like I could find the cheapest 50% off game, and it'd be free with it?

I got Metroid: Zero Mission, the first TRU I went to had none, but the second had 10+. I 'll play it tomorrow at work and if I like it I'll go get Fusion as well.

They drop again this Thursday. Along with the other penny stuff again. I'm sure they neever made it back to floor.

Went to 2 TRUs in San Antonio-- a lot of YMMV stuff going on. The Forum TRU had Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution marked with a green tag, but at the Blanco Rd store, they weren't marked at all. Silent Hill 3 was also not marked. No SMT Nocturnes, but they had SMT Digital Devil Saga Special Edition.

The Forum store had a lot of Final Fantasy 1&2 GBA--I wonder if they'll pull a YMMV and tag these.

I went to the Brookfield TRU, They had a bunch of PO games for $5, Batman Vegence-GC, Trivial Pursuit-PS2, Spyhunter-GC. I grabbed 3 of each and preordered my Zelda and Nascar.

Anyone from the Milw area know if Browndeer or 27th have any
Kung Fu Chaos XB
Bloodrayne XB

Picked up:

Backyard Wrestling $5
Men of Valor $10
Intellivision Lives $5
Outlaw Golf 2 $10
Driv3r $10
Galleon $10
Test Drive $5
Trivial Pursuit Unhinged $5

Total $60 for 8 games

Not bad at all, but it will never beat 70% off plus $5 coupon like last year.

When items are price dropped they are price dropped.

No one knows if they'll be dropped or raised again and when. Everything is week by week.

I think it depends on the store.

At my TRU, the employee in the R-Zone just told me to help myself out of the stack of promotional items, and nothing that I took was scanned or rung up or anything like that. Of course, I don't think the items had barcodes in the first place, but that could just be the things I took.

For the record, all that I did take was a total of four of the DDR sampler albums - two each of Extreme and Ultramix 2, one set for me and one for my younger sister. I was a good boy. :D

I picked up the following today:
Breakdown Xbox $10
Rainbow 6 3 Xbox $10
LotR: The Third Age GBA $10
Metroid Zero Mission GBA $15
Full Spectrum Warrior Guide $.01
Star Wars Battlefront Guide $.01
Jak 3 Guide $.01

I'm kinda surprised so many people picked up Trivial Pursuit already. The two TRUs I went to are flooded with them. Seems like its going to be the Virtual Tennis or Turok of this year's sale. Intellivision Lives also had a very healthy supply.

Bloodrayne XB
I thought I had seen Bloodrayne somewhere....wasn't really looking for X-Box stuff. (I actually would have guessed Brookfield, out on the racks in front of the electronics department....but apparently not.)

No Kung Fu Chaos at any of the 3 stores I went to (forgot about Browndeer....know what I'll be doing tomorrow!). Also, in case anyone was wondering, no Katamari at any of those stores either.

I hit about 5 TRUs yesterday and I'm pretty happy with what I found. Some rare stuff, but no great treasures. I ended up leaving my house late and not getting to the first TRU until 11:30 by which time someone had already snagged the one Mega Man X7 they had in stock. Fortunately, at the next one I went to they had tons (I think they took some stock out of the back or something at that one - I saw several games I had never seen at that store before.)

I picked up:
GBA Broken Sword
GBA Grand Theft Auto Advance (not on the list, but green-tagged at the first TRU I went to - didn't notice it green tagged elsewhere, but I wasn't looking)
GBA Iridion 2
GBA Spiderman
PS2 Gradius V (got the last one)
PS2 Mega Man X7
PS2 Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (got the last one)

I would have loved to find:
PS2 Castlevania: Lament of Innocence
PS2 Maximo: Army of Zin
GBA Bubble Bobble (dying to find another copy so I can play it with a friend)
GBA Fire Emblem
GBA Shining Soul 2
GBA Super Puzzle Fighter II
PSX Final Fantasy 7 (I could have sworn I saw tons of these earlier, but *none* of the TRUs I went to had them - I could have seen them at K-Marts, though)

Other games of interest I saw:
PS2: Amplitude
PS2: Firefighter FD-18 (kicking myself as I picked this up used for $10 more about 3 months ago)
PS2 Katamari Damacy
PS2 Mega Man Anniversary Collection (I think)
PS2 Mega Man X8
PS2 Mega Man X Command Mission
PS2 Onimusha 3
PS2 R-Type Final
GBA Astroboy
GBA Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
GBA Mario Golf Advance (Great game! I became addicted to this game the last trip I took)
GBA Both Metroids
GBA River City Ransom
GBA Sabre Wulf

Finding Gradius and SMT made my day, though finding some of the other games would have made my week or month. C'est la vie.

I agree that Trivial Pursuit seems to be in the highest supply - but at the 3 TRU I went to, 1 had none, 1 had about 4, and another had maybe 8-9. I don't know if they have more in the back , but if that's it I wanted to pick up a few (for trade-in deals) and not take a chance of them lasting till late September! They had nothing else in more than 3's or 4's. I never did see Virtual Tennis or Turok last year, but one TRU near me was overflowing with Mojo's - they just kept bringing more and more out. I felt sorry for the nearby EB (this was during their $5 bonus trade deal). I guess it will be a regional thing like last year.

PS2 Gradius V (got the last one)

Finding Gradius and SMT made my day, though finding some of the other games would have made my week or month. C'est la vie.
Is Gradius supposed to be hard to find? One TRU had several of them in the case behind the counter (with a butt-headed employee who told me if they aren't green-tagged they aren't on sale). Maybe I'll go back tomorrow and get one - just tell him I want it and watch his face as it rings up "promo".

I also noticed that people keep mentioning Baten Kaitos. I still have it unopened from GR from December or so and thus passed it up at CC for $10, but I know there were a few at the same store and they were not green-tagged either. As far as I could tell, though, they had everything else tagged correctly. But maybe I need to look around a little more thoroughly...

I also bought a Metroid Zero Mission and didn't really notice it was still $15 (was getting several things at once) - too much for this cheap-ass gamer. Bah... It is $20 new at Gamerush and I can use my credit to make it about $10 out of pocket. So that one goes back to TRU.

The game itself is uncommon, but it is probably more hard to find at a TRU since they didn't get many copies (no store did - I have only seen it used before this). Actually, when the green tag sale started, an employee was kind enough to check all 6 TRUs in the area. She said the computer showed 1 copy at the TRU 30 minutes south and another at the TRU 30 minutes north. I was at the north one today - I guess I was lucky it was still there.

I have yet to see Castlevania for PS2 at any TRUs, been looking for that too. I'm surprised you didn't get Maximo AoZ that's been at most of mine. I've also seen lots of FFX7 at a TRU or two, but can't remember which one :p
Dang, and I ordered some games from Toysrus.com last week and they dropped price this week. Think I can get some money back from the store?
probably as long as you don't open them, you should be fine.

Since we're posting war stories, here is what I was able to find, getting there at 3:00 pm:

Phantom Brave (PS2) $15.00
Legend of Dragoon (PS1) $7.50
Astro Boy (PS2) $10.00
Intelivision Lives (GC) $5.00

I alredy picked up Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne when it was 30% off, and I was surprised that the store I went to still had a few copies left. Same thing for Gradius V...should have waited! But the speculation is what makes it fun!

They also had Metroid Fusion but I thought $17.50 was too much, but now I'm having second thought.

-none of the stores around me have baten kaitos marked as a green tag. i've asked for a price check twice, and they each ring up as saying "promo" but then the full price ($29.99). does anyone know, since it says "promo" is that a part of the green tag promotion, and the 50% will be taken off when i buy it, or does it say that for every game?

I tried to buy it and it wouldn't ring up 50% off, or anything off for that matter. I don't know if the included soundtrack tags it as a "Promo" item. I was really hoping to pick this one up. Oh well.

That means its green-tagged. Before it always rang up as 30% off, but with the 50% off, the three games I bought last night ($9.99, $9.99, $12.98) rang up at full price "PROMO" then my total was 50% off ($17.xx).

So the stores have been restocked with green tag games as of yesterday yes?

(Sorry i've been away for a while)
