TRU Green Tag going to 90% starting 3-16

Hello everyone, and I guess this is my first post on here. I have fell in love with this site, and now it is time to contribute myself. I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but everything at TRU that is green tagged will be 90% off starting tomorrow (3-16). My store only has accesories, but some other stores may have some games, but I doubt it.

If this has already been, posted, go ahead and delete it.

I picked up a couple of Intec GC starter kits for $2.99 a piece. The best thing is that I got a survey at the checkout for $3 off my next purchase.

Make sure you do that now. I got two of those surveys during the clearance and forgot about them both times. They expire after three days.

Ok...I think I've found the problem with the 3D surround sound system for the PS2. I went to 3 different TRU's last Friday in Ohio and they all said the system was $79.99. I went across the river to Kentucky today and they had one left. It's exactly like the ones I saw on Friday but it rang up $8. I then went back to Ohio and tried one of the same TRU's I tried on Friday. I kept talking to the girl in electronics and we finally discovered that the stickers over the UPC label were the wrong ones. She took that off and BINGO.....discounted. I got 3 more from her. The actual UPC should be 804926073106. They are INTEC PS2 3D Surround Sound Sytem. If anyone tried to get one over the weekend and they kept ringing up $79.99 that should be the problem. Remember you heard it here first on CAG. :)

And doing such a thing is quite illegal. I somehow have a feeling that the TRU's with the changed/stickered UPC did so for a reason. I would not suggest switching out different barcodes, Cheap Ass Gamer, yes, Illegal Ass, no. You got very lucky by having an employee do this, but to everyone else who does it on their own, realize what you're up to.

Unless it was actually the wrong UPC sticker... like if it were ringing up "Barbie's Pink Playhouse" then clearly there was an error. If it's like the CC tagging where they "value" tag something to fix it at a price, then I would certainly agree with you.

I would have reported on this earlier, but I worked all weekend. Intec put the stickers on, not TRU. When I opened them up to put on the shelf, they were already on them. It just makes intec make more money, and I guess TRU. But yes, youy are right, it has to bee one with the right upc.

And about the game,s none of them are GT'ed any more, they all went to 9.99. My store only has a few games left.

I guess I actually started a huge thread on here...for my first post...allright.

Sp00ge, thanks for the heads up about the bikes. I went to my ToysRUs today, and they didn't have the 26" Mongoose or the 24" Murray Vibe ... but they did have a 26" Murray Vibe! It was the last one, and it was the display model (so it has a few scratches on the paint/stickers/whatever), but for $7.48 after tax for a 21 speed bike, you can't beat it!

Thanks again, man. :applause:

Glad I could be of service! :D

I believe there was one that was, but odds of finding it instore are slim to none. TRU carries other GC screens as well, most likely the same unit, but with a different UPC/SKN #.

And boy am I glad I checked the wireless wheels before I sold one on here. Opened the box and sure enough, before I could even get around to testing it, the brake pedal had been snapped clean off. But on the plus side, the other one works like a champ.

Yes to both questions
So is this for all TRU's? Because I guess I'll need to stop at mine tomorrow, you think everything will be gone?

man no bikes are my TRU, are all the bikes they have on display or are there some in the back without a model on display? i want that 14 dollar bike >.

I hit the Sterling Heights MI store a day ago and found nada..I didnt even see any green tags. They did have a table near the employee door in the games section with discounted stuff but the games That I saw were TRIGGERMAN XBOX 4.98 LIFELINE PS2 9.99 DOOM XBOX (not LE) for 9.99..games like that.

From what I have been reading those Intec speakers have been getting lousy reviews and ratings so i probably won't even bother with em. Has anyone here actually tried em?

Does anybody know if any TRU PC games are marked down? Mine puts them in plastic cases that cover up the barcode, so I can't scan them. They have Doom 3 marked at $54.99, I mean.. c'mon.

I saw some old Medal of Honor PC game GT'd at $10 - dont know if it was even worth $1 ;p Plus box was crushed to hell.

Pretty quick with the illegality replies...

Scored a bunch of JUICE BOX Items:

- Juice Box Player $5
- MP3 Starter Kit x 2 $8
- Trading Spaces Cart $1.70
- TMNT/Crash Test Dummies Cart $1.10
- Car Adaptor $1
- Cartridge Holder/Pounch (Holds 4-8 carts) $1
TOTAL = $19.49
SAVINGS = $160.13

Well, it is illegal. That girl should be fired for tampering with barcodes.

'nuff said..

I've hooked mine up and it works great! I haven't had it for very long so I don't know about it's longevity, but it sounds much better than my TV speakers. It has 4 different A/V inputs, so I hooked it up to my Gamecube too. Well worth the $3 investment.:)

Sorry, but what would you charge her with? It's too easily passed off as a mistake. I could easily do the same thing at work and I would be praised for my customer service. Not everything applies across the board.

Since the OM scam, the 'that's illegal' replies have been as rampant as 'chopped' or 'fake' replies I've seen in the past, and it's getting annoying when people try to pretend they know what they're talking about. Kinda like when people come into my store and catch a price mistake and tell me it's against the law for me not to sell it to them at that price. Sorry...actually studied case law about that and have it memorized so they can go look it up.

There is one thing a lot of people need to learn: morality is one thing, illegality is another. But neither matters if you can't convict. Ask OJ.

So, by your logic, if an employee changes the price tag on an item to make it cheaper for the customer, it's fine and dandy? I don't think her manager would be very happy. Or if a customer printed out fake UPCs for a cheap item and attached them to an expensive item? The employee removed UPC labels that were there for a reason.... no different than changing a price tag/UPC.

And how do I know that kinda stuff is illegal? My older brother was arrested years ago for doing that. It actually falls into a similar category as shoplifting, seeing that you're stealing money from the store.

Immoral? Illegal? This case, it's a fireable offense. If the customer was caught doing it, it's an arrestible offense.

But in the eyes of some people, it's only illegal if you get caught, otherwise it's just immoral.
I got the last of the $13.xx and $7.xx and they both were the display models. If you're lucky there might be some in the back, but highly unlikely. Good luck:)
I got the last 26" Mongoose at my Toys r US, only because someone mislabeled it as the 24"and it was on the top rack. I kept insisting that it was the 26" and that it was on sale, they finally gave in and took it down(I was right). The employees are on the prowl for these deals as stated to me by the manager that helped me. I got it for 13.00 plus the 10.00 assembly fee. Good luck !

They charged you the $10 assembly fee for the display model? Was it the absolute last one they had in stock? If so, I'm almost 100% for all stores that the assembly is waived on the last piece of a discontinued item. I know that's policy at the TRU I work at. I would've bitched about it, but still, $23 for a $135 bike is still a steal.

I went back and had them scan the 2nd bar code and it rang up at $8 and even said item was green tagged. Original upc label DID NOT ring up as green tagged. It looks like they had em on sale at alot of stores and instead of changing it in system they just slapped a new barcode on. Then when the price got lowered they forgot to lower the 2nd UPC code too.

I hooked it up and tried it out and they are all right. One speaker didn't work out of the box but I ended up hooking it up thru my Stereo in my room so the sound is AWESOME now.

It was definitely the last one. I did deal with a manager . Maybe she was hoping I wouldn't take it. Now I know for future reference. Thanks

No shit.... I wonder if the one at my TRU was the 26" one...

Like sp00ge said you shouldn't have had to pay for the assembly. I bought one of each (one for me and another for a friend) and they both were floor models. I know it is only $10 bucks, but that is alot of dough for a CAG. I strongly recommend you call corporate and report this because the manager has their head up their ass making you pay an assembly fee.

They tried to make me pay the $10 assembly fee for the 26" Murray Vibe that I bought (which was also the floor model). I only payed $7.00 for the whole bike, and the thing is already assembled. I flat out told them I wasn't going to pay it when it was the floor model and already assembled.

I took it home for $7 even. ;)

Exactly. Having no option as to whether or not you want it assembled, you shouldn't be forced to pay. Now, say there was an unassembled bike in the back, you'd have to pay the assembly fee for the floor model, or take the unassembled, since you have an option.

Does anyone know how much that 5.4" Intec PS2 screen and the screen for the Gamecube? My TRU is pretty much cleaned, except those two. There are two types of PS2 LCD screen, one for the old model and one for the slim model. I saw the price is still labeled $129.99 each, not GT.
I saw a 5.4 PS2 screen (I think model #g7600) and I was wondering if that was green tagged? It was marked at $69.99, but it also looked as if they'd been there forever...maybe YMMV? I remember someone posted earlier that model #g7300 was green tagged, but I didn't see any of those.
Actually the price was $66.90 when I went to browse today...and the model # was #g7600...anyone know if these are GT'd?

Four new GT bikes we found today:

26 G SE2000R $8
26 B Flash Bike $10
16 G Pink Stingray (It's really a purple bike, was mislabeled in the system) $8
26 G Pioneer $17

I picked up the first three, two for the inlaws, and the little one for my daughter when she gets old enough. Another employee snagged the last one.

what makes were these bikes?
Do these bikes ring up at 90% off at the price checker does it have be rung up at the counter and the total button hit ?
Anything Green Tag rings up the final price at the Price Checkers. At the register, total has to be hit before it reflects the dsicount.

No luck on the bikes. But, the Schaumburg, IL store had a bunch of the 2-D PS2 speaker sets for $3. There was also a bunch of the Juice Box players, but no mp3 kit.

The cashier thought the discount was only going to be 50%. The look on his face when it rang up 90%? Priceless.

I also picked up 2 GC starter kits and the PS2 aluminum case with accessories.

There also were several penny guides still there. Star Wars Republic Commando and the latest YuGiOh guide.

The Bloomingdale store didn't have much of anything.

I stopped in while I was checking out some of the 1.99 games at Best Buy, and all I found was some AV Wireless Switch for the Xbox for 98 cents. I don't think it was green tagged, but they were just trying to get rid of em.

I tried to grab a GC Starter Kit, but it kept ringing up at full price...I kept telling the cashier to hit Total, and I think he did...but it just wouldn't go down. I might've grabbed the wrong one tho...didn't exactly have a list on me at the time.

Actually, my manager at the store I work at took off the sticker and sold it to me. So should she get fired...lol. Anyways, i don't care, so lets stop talking about it.
