TRU Green Tag sale on games to end 11/21/05

Went to TRU in Ann Arbor, MI and all the green tag games were gone. I asked the manager where they all went and she replied:

manager - They're all gone.

me - where'd they all go?

manager - he packed them all up yesterday

me - why?

manager - becuase they're no longer green tagged.

me - yeah, I saw online that they were all 9.99 now. Where are they now?

manager - they're gone

me - .... to where ?

manager - in the back. We are short on space and need the room to display more merchandise.

me - can I buy some of them ?

manager - No. they all need to be repriced

me- but I'd like to buy some of them.

manager - you can't, they're all the wrong price and we can't sell them that way

me - that's ridiculous, half the items in this store are marked with the wrong price.

manager - well, they're not in the computer and anyway they're all in the back

me - when are you going to put them out again ?

manager - we are very busy, you'll probably see them back out after christmas.

me - are you serious? Don't you think people will want to buy some of them as christmas presents?

manager - well, they need to be re-priced.

me - Let me get this straight, you need the display room to sell more merchandise, but right now it's just 3 empty shelves and you aren't even using the space you made by packing them up. Now they are taking up space in the back. How exactly does keeping them in your store room make you any money before christmas. Don't you want to get rid of these things since you need the room?

manager - walks away making a flipping hand gesture

Nice place, TRU. It's no wonder they're flirting with bankruptcy.

As I expected, all GT games were gone when I showed up... even the ones that were already 9.99 after discount. All you have to do is throw a 9.99 sign on a bunch of games and people go crazy.

Two games which had not been green tagged were still available: Yourself Fitness and Polarium. I already had Polarium, and doing exercises with a computer generated woman isn't my type of thing.
Is virtua quest good? There were a few at my TRU
Heh, that's probably the same one I got it at (KOP).

The game got fairly mediocre reviews but I got it because it was a Sega game, and something I'd like to try eventually. It won't be getting any play time anytime soon though as I'm spending all of my console time on Fire Emblem for the Cube.

Interestingly enough, I stopped by my TRU today and they had a $9.99 copy of SMT just sitting there on the shelf. Picked that up along with Musashi and Bujingai. Isn't that weird that it was there? I had been to this TRU 2 other times since the GT sale started and they didn't have SMT... In case anyone asks, I would be willing to trade it for newer RPGs...

It might have been in the back, I saw a lot of R-Type Finals at my local TRU this week when I haven't seen any on the shelf in months

Which sucks, since it was cheaper when it was GT'd.

I picked it up when it was $5 after the 50% off so it wasn't a big deal to me but I wonder if anything else was in the back that I missed (I also noticed some Donald Duck Gamecube game I wasn't interested in that I didn't see before so I suspect there must have been a few games in the back).

What makes it bad though is that the games still have the green tags on them. When you walk into the store, there is a huge sign saying 50% off green tag items. Now I know from this site the sale is over on games but if I was just a regular customer and I picked up a bunch of green tagged games that would be $5 after 50% off and they rang up for $9.99 each, I would be kind of annoyed (there is nothing indicating that the green tag games are all now $9.99, they are just in a bin)

That's due to laziness on the employee's part, and you should argue the price marked, plain and simple.

Sounds like a good idea, I'll try it next time I am there if I see anything I really want (I didn't even try to buy anything since I knew they would ring up at the $9.99 price)
