no way dude that couldnt be now i have to watch that episode again. but that would explain the weird vibe he and his wife have goin with jason. not to mention she does have a porn star look about her. damn i cant wait for her to get topless.
I'm officially addicted! Just watched all 14 eps on saturday. lol Damn, so good! Did you guys read the books? How are they?
i heard from someone that theyre very good so i dled them just wondring if i should read them now or read a book after each season.

I feel kind of dumb asking this but..

So is Mary Ann the thing that attacked Sookie? After she pulled her hands out of the ground, she had the three claws like whatever attacked Sookie.

I'm guessing by the scars on her back, how she knows what Sam is, and that she's supposed to betray Sam in a future episode, Daphne is a shifter (the pig) and is loyal to Mary Ann

eric is by far my favorite character. hope he tears more people in half in future episode while they search for Godrick

Agreed. Bill's awkwardness and intentional bad acting drives me nuts. They make him act like he's stuck in 1855. However, Eric is the definition of cool. I can't wait till he eventually has a showdown with Jason and that church. I hope Eric scares the shit out of him.

Yeah but
what the fuck is she?!? At first I thought she was like aphrodite or something because everyone kept having sex near her. But then I thought maybe she was this thing
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamia_%28mythology%29
or a succubus?

I don't even know...Apparently it tells in the book what she is but I don't want it ruined for me.

Also, Do the seasons of this show follow the books in their order?

I'm getting a bit frustrated with her character, how many times do I need to see her make people over eat, over drink, and fuck in public before they actually explain the shit going on?

heres to hoping hbo doesnt give it the old deadwood treatment. id like for one of their series to end at an appropriate time. love the opening theme song too.
^No, this show is huge...it's going to definitely go the distance.
I second that. I can't get enough of the show. Can't wait for the next episode.

I don't get why people think HBO gave up on Deadwood. The creator gave up on deadwood, he wanted to do another show.

Yes I believe it will continue, but lets be honest the viewership numbers are good by HBO standards but they aren't great. This seasons premieres numbers were up dramatically compared to last seasons numbers. In perspective, this years numbers are about 40% of the numbers that Deadwood got. It is also far below the highs of shows like soprano's/oz/6ft under. It also is lower then other HBO shows like curb your enthusiasm, rome, and big love.

Since the middle of the first season, I have really enjoyed watching this show. The first half of the first season where entertaining for me to watch, but for the wrong reasons. IMO this seasons has been killing it.

Yes I did see the porn thing that sookie was looking at. I wasn't sure if it was him, and didn't bother to rewind and look again, but at a quick look it did look like him.

gotta agree with you on that so far she just comes off as this annoying party hostess that obviously has powers but i hope they show the rest of her deal and get it over with. also curious to see what other monsters exist in these stories. im sure werewolves do since sam said hed met some before but what about zombies?

i always asumed hbo did since its not uncommon for them to prematurely end great shows. still hurting from carneivale damn that show was great. wonder if they will ever come out with those books that continue the story. you could tel the deadwood story was going to stretch out for a while but man the way they ended that season was just painful to watch.

carnival had horrible ratings, that just kept getting worse. I thought it was a great show, but even I agree the ratings didn't justify keeping it on air.

The deadwood creator went on to do john from cincy...he came up with that script and idea and pitched it to HBO. I believe he even did a pilot. HBO told him they would only pay for one and it was his choice, and he chose that train wreck that is known as john from Cincinnati.

There was a write up in EW on True Bloods success. Apparently right after the first episode that tanked in ratings HBO signed up for 2 more seasons, and with the ratings only increasong Im sure it'll be on for a while. They also pointed out that season 1 dvd has constantly been in the top list of TV series DVDs since its release.

And count my wife and I in on getting tired of the glutony and lust at parties. I really hope she dies horribly at the end of the season.

Absolutely nothing of note happened during the first half of the episode, but the second half came through big time.

1) I'm starting to think that Mary Anne is
the the embodiment of the Seven Deadly Sins. First we saw Lust and Gluttony, and then tonight we saw Wrath. That's my theoroy.

2) We finally get to see
the vampire that turned Bill
after the flashback from season 1.

3) We now know a little more about Eric and his motivations, but even I wasn't expecting that at all.

4) The stuff with Jason and Sam is starting to get good too, but it's nothing we all didn't see coming a mile away.

I look forward to next week.
not on a par yet with the best HBO shows or some of Showtime's better ones, but there is potential
Meh, if it doesn't start out strong out the gate it's probably never going to be great. Weak initial seasons are suicide for premium network shows. Then again, it's an HBO show, so it'll probably get cancelled regardless of how it performs. Deadwood was one of the greatest fucking shows ever and got the axe just the same as if it was Saved By The Bell: The College Years.

After reading a few replies here, I don't think I'll get a Blu-Ray set, but may have to Netflix this. With all the CSI shows and even NCIS getting a fucking spinoff, I'll take any weird off-beat TV shows I can get.

From what I understand, Deadwood's budget was the reason for the cancellation more so than ratings. TB seems to have amuch lower budget since it is not a period piece and appears to be filmed on location without the need for elaborate sets.
I love how Sarah worked the Jesus talk into excuses for giving a handjob. So much for that purity ring...
That whole scene was hilarious:

Jason: I think you should stop.
Sarah: You don't mean that.
Jason: No, I don't.

The look on his face was priceless.

Yea that EW article was interesting; Knowing that HBO has paid through the end of season 3 makes it easier to commit to a guilty pleasure show.

It was also nice to read that the story is going to follow the books in developing Eric's storyline (IMHO Skarsgård is the best actor on the show).

I want to start watching this show but i'm afraid it'll be cheesy, soap opera-ish love story like Twilight (never seen or read Twilight but assumed thats what it is like). Am I wrong?

It's nowhere near as cheasy as Twilight. The problem is it's a vampire show that doesn't really feel like a vampire show. Reminds me somehow of if they made a series out of the zombie that collects shopping carts in Shawn Of The Dead.

True Blood is more murder mystery than soap opera, and is generally much less melodramatic than Twilight.

So it's about vampires not doing vampire stuff? Where's the fun in that?

EDIT: Oh ok. Thanks Magus, i'll check it out.

The vampires still do vampire stuff. It's just that they're more like a minority group than a monster. The concept is that vampires are discovered to be real and try to fit in with the real world. Synthetic blood is made and sold on store shelves next to Mountain Dew, so they drink that and leave people alone.

It's a neat idea, just not enough to drag me away from other shows. I've decided to Netflix it though. The pisser is I can only get one disc at a time. I'd prefer to just watch it all in a 1-2 night marathon.

Ah, after reading the wiki on the books i understand more. Though it looks like the show differs on what actually attacked sookie.

That's why I compare it to X-Men .

Nice to see someone else finally figured it out. You should put that in a spoiler...I did it for you, just edit your post. Just take my reply and paste it into your post.

I remember
Dionysus is a zoomorph , but I do not remember reading his followers could change form.

Yup. When people ask me what true blood is I tell them it's X-men with vampires and shape-shifters. Looking forward to some good werewolf action in the future.

Maybe
Dionysus is masquerading as her servant/butler, like Ra's al Ghul in Batman Begins ?

Well, I guess I called this one.

But christ, I really hope Mary Ann gets killed soon. Her storyline is just getting old. I think its time for Andy to go as well, but my guess is that he's going to kill Daphne (inadvertently, im sure) before he goes.

MaryAnn is gonna last until the end of the season. Andy is straight comedy. Hey Pig LOL! Jason is crazy for fucking the preachers wife. Sookie Eric Bill Love triangle is GO!

I finally caught up last night. God damn this show is GREAT. I almost wish I waited to watch it until the series was over so I could do a marathon. I lost it when Andy told Lafayette that if he was on a cruise he would have more pizazz when he came back.

This was easily my favorite episode of the season thus far since a few storylines are finally start to come together.

Also, does it feel like they're totally ignoring the murder that set the whole season into motion? They bring it up every now and then, but that's about it. I hope it leads to a huge plot twist.
The Mary Ann angle bores me, too. Orgies are great, but they lose their punch if they happen every night.
yeah i wish they would end it already and hurry up and show the preachers wifes tits. i get this odd feeling
jason is going to take over that whole defenders of the light thing and i wonder how they knew who sookie was either that one vamp who was down for a war against humans did it or the sherif did it.

If they did that i would be so happy.
Jason is going to leave the Defenders of the light. The traitor is Hugo, the human thats locked in the basement with Sookie

Actually, i think the last episode is starting to reveal more into it.

The place where Eggs took Tara is most likely the place where Mary Ann and her "revelers" took Miss Jeanette and killed her in one of their rituals
I'm assuming you're pulling that nugget from the books which, as my wife is constantly pointing out, the show isn't strictly following.

I've got that same feeling, Bezerker.
