TV Water Cooler
a new week, hopefully studio 60 can start adding viewers rather then losing them.

Last week it did gain about 200,000 veiwers I think.
Wasn't there already a show with that same premise not too long ago? I believe it was on Game Show Network.

Edit: Found it, though its on Wikipedia.

No way! I thought of that like 3 years before that even aired, and it's almost the exact same! No fair.

doggie howser, aka neil patrick harris, is the soul reason to watch how i met your mother. He has me laughing my ass off the majority of the time he is on the screen.

How I Met Your Mother should be bigger than Friends but it's on Mondays at 8. It is one of the top 5 funniest shows on TV and I always laugh out loud when I'm watching it. Last night's episode was a classic.

1 vs. 100 is a pretty good show to watch on DVR. You can get through it in about 20 minutes. Saget did have some pretty funny lines poking fun at Howie 'Deal or No Deal' Mandel.

The main dopey thing about it is that the contestant is somewhat penalized for idiots in the mob missing the easy low dollar value questions. For example in the first week quite a few missed the $100 question for the 2nd contestant. All of those dopes are now gone and not able to miss a higher value question for her. But I guess it's just luck of the draw really.

Deal or No Deal was good for me for about a dozen episodes and then I just got sick of it. Probably play out the same with 1 vs. 100. Although it will have different questions each episode so maybe it'll have a bit more staying power for me. I just want to see Jeopardy Ken miss something eventually  (Don't know if he's a permament member of the mob or not...)

Kfed was fine on CSI, too. Although he had a pretty limited number of lines. Excellent episode.
Cancelled. Well... pretty much...
d'oh! that was my favorite new show of the season. oh well, at least Heroes has been enjoyable so far.

when "ninja" hiro appeared last night from the future (presumably battle-hardened from fighting villains), did it remind anybody of the terminator?

Heroes ranked second in the overnights (9.1/13) and total viewers (13.07 million), and a solid No. 1 among adults 18-49 (5.7/13) from 9-10 p.m. Comparably, Heroes grew in the demo from lead-in Deal or No Deal by 10 percent.

good to see there numbers improving

In contrast, NBC's competing Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip cannot stop the bleeding at a series-low 6.6/10 in the overnights (#2), 7.76 million viewers (#3) and a 3.1/ 8 among adults 18-49 (#3). Comparatively, retention for Studio 60 out of Heroes was just 73 percent in the overnights, 59 percent in total viewers and 54 percent among adults 18-49. While ABC's What About Brian is not much better at a 4.4/ 7 in the overnights (#3), 8.30 million viewers (#2) and a 3.5/ 9 among adults 18-49 (#2), retention out of The Bachelor:

while i haven't watched studio 60 from last night, that is not good news. Total viewers was behind what about brian is horrible news. I enjoyed the few episodes of what about brian last spring as it had funny dialog between a couple of the characters imo, but the 2 episodes so far this fall are horrible, and I think there numbers doubled from the premiere last week. That can't be good for studio 60

a couple of good/decent shows got extended for 9 more episode, rookie show brothers and sisters and sophmore show close to home

More Brothers & Sisters:
ABC has renewed freshman drama Brothers & Sisters for the remainder of the season, with a back-end order for 9 additional episodes. Season to-date (through Oct. 8), Brothers & Sisters is averaging 14.16 million viewers with a 5.6/14 among adults 18-49 (versus 15.89 million viewers and a 4.6/12 in the demo for CBS' competing Without a Trace). Retention out of lead-in Desperate Housewives (Viewers: 22.28 million; A18-49: 9.0/20) is 64 percent in total viewers and 62 percent among adults 18-49. Other freshman series to be picked-up for the full season: ABC's Ugly Betty, CBS' Jericho and NBC's Heroes.

CBS Has Faith in Close To Home:
Sophomore CBS Friday drama Close to Home, which almost met a premature death last fall in the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour, has been picked up for the full season, with an order for nine additional episodes. Season to-date, the sleeper hit is averaging 11.59 million viewers and a 2.8/ 9 among adults 18-49. Lead-in Ghost Whisperer at 8 p.m. is delivering 10.04 million viewers with a 3.0/11 among adults 18-49.
Does anyone think Studio 60 will get a full season? Anyone... anyone at all... :)
I hope so. I'm really liking it.

Not very confident though.
doggie howser, aka neil patrick harris, is the soul reason to watch how i met your mother. He has me laughing my ass off the majority of the time he is on the screen.
No, he is the funniest, but the main reason to watch is for Cobie Smulders.

ok, i will have to agree with you on that....

and no i can't see studio 60 getting a full episode, and imo, the show with in a show sketches are for the most part horrible. Like last night, the nick cage one, the guy did a great job mimicing his actions, but the dialog was horrible. It isn't funny, they should focus more on the behind the scene stuff.

i watched the first episode of runaway...it was way too slow...to bad for donnie wahlberg, and jack bauers wife from season 1 of 24, but the first 2 episodes blew

another rough night for friday night lights

Over at NBC, the news remains bleak at 8 p.m., with week three of Friday Night Lights sinking further, with a mere 4.0/ 6 in the overnights (#4), 6.61 million viewers (#4) and a 2.7/ 7 among adults 18-49 (#4)

pretty much the same as last week for the other shows..dancing with the start dominated, roughly same numbers for ncis, the unit, boston legal, law and order criminal intent, and law and order svu...the exact numbers are on the website..

studio 60 fell behind the nine, which was considered to have horrible numbers
Does anyone think Studio 60 will get a full season? Anyone... anyone at all... :)
No I liked the first 2 shows now it just sucks. IMO But I've still got 30 Rock, Heroes, and Jericho.
Does anyone think Studio 60 will get a full season? Anyone... anyone at all... :)
I'm starting to doubt it, and I think the show is actually pretty good, but wouldn't think much if it ends up getting the axe. I can't imagine with those numbers and the production cost of the show how NBC can continue to run it. How much do you think the show costs to make with salaries for Sorkin, Perry, & Peet. Is there any site that lists how much the shows cost or the actors make per episode?

Studio 60 oddly enough needs to show less of Studio 60. Do these people do anything besides the show and then party? West Wing they felt like real people with someone real issues. Sports Night only took place in the office the first season, but they talked about the outside world. In season two they did go out to bars, the streets, a phycho doctors office. Studio 60 just has the bad fictional show within the somewhat pointless real show. They need to ditch the Christian and come up with rel long term storylines.

after being away, here is some more tv news for you

while it is a smaller decline, it still is shrinking its audience

A distant second was NBC's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (Overnights: 6.3/10; Viewers: 7.70 million; A18-49: 3.1/ 8), followed by ABC drama What About Brian (Overnights: 4.1/ 6; Viewers: 6.02 million; A18-49: 2.6/ 7). Both Studio 60 and What About Brian declined by double-digit percentages from their lead-ins, hence the loser's

hero had improvement on last week

NBC's Heroes (Overnights: #2, 9.5/14; Viewers: #1 overall, 14.27 million; A18-49: #1, 6.2/15) an

Fox's baseball on sunday, led the evening with a surprising 16.6 or so million.

Most of that is old news.

Both SNL shows are doing bad, just like SNL.

I like Jerimah and Heros will be the new first shows to get a second season confirmed.

Speaking of Heroes, last nights episode was great. The suspense just keeps building up. Though, I wonder if we're another 2 weeks away from a big episode, as the day in the paper a few episodes ago was,
November 7th, IRC
so maybe the episode in 3 weeks will be huge.

Looking at my Tivo I realize that Mondays has become so jam-packed with Prison Break, How I Met Your Mother, Everybody Hates Chris, & Heroes. And with 24 coming back in January that's just adding to the "Monday Night Mayhem". Thankfully, MNF will be over by then (with what has been a solid set of games) so I may actually get to watch some of the shows on time instead of later in the week. Although I haven't dropped it from my season pass yet, Studio 60 certainly is starting to lose my interest.

Studio 60...

Boring
No real plot
Stupid love story
Blonde bitch that can't act.
Makes fun of SNL and is worse than SNL.
Makes fun of half the country every week and it gets old.

Have I said that there is no real plot?

he can't write funny comedy sketches, they shouldn't show anything about the show within a show. The story started off interesting and has slowly became very very boring.

Hell Mondays episode was the best yet because they didn't show any of the show, but it still fell flat. You watch Sports Night and West Wing there is something that is missing from Studio 60.

son of a bitch, friday night lights continues to gain an audience. It is such a solid written and acted show.

Over at NBC, the lights remain dim on Friday Night Lights, with the struggling freshman drama at a mere (and fourth-place) 4.0/ 6 in the overnights, 6.33 million viewers and a 2.6/ 7 among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m.

The thing i find most confusing is how the hell law and order in repeats after the friday night lights lead in, increases viewership up to over 9million

Top 5 new shows from last week were

Shark (CBS, Thurs. 10 p.m.)
Viewers: 13.71 million (#20), A18-49: 4.2 rating/11 share (#25)

-Ugly Betty (ABC, Thurs. 8 p.m.)
Viewers: 13.17 million (#21), A18-49: 4.4/12 (#22)

-Heroes (NBC, Mon. 9 p.m.)
Viewers: 12.96 million (#24), A18-49: 5.7/13 (#8)

-1 vs. 100 (NBC: Fri. 9 p.m.)
Viewers: 11.97 million (#29), A18-49: 3.7/12 (#32)

-Brothers & Sisters (ABC, Sun. 10 p.m.)
Viewers: 11.92 million (#31). A18-49: 4.9/12 (#16t)

jericho was 6th, and much talked about on this thread, studio 60 was 11th out of the new shows

http://www.tvtracker.com/daily_ratings.php

Didn't watch last night's epi yet, but I've definitely come on board with Friday Night Lights. Knowing the ratings aren't the best I'm just planning to watch them as they come and not really expect to have it on next year.

Heroes, Friday Night Lights, and Smith are the new shows this year I've really enjoyed. Of course Smith is already gone.

I've officially given up on Six Degrees and The Nine (taken them off the DVR list), but still watching Studio 60, Jericho, and 30 Rock.

Lost and Criminal minds are battling it out on wend nights at 9pm

Wednesday 9 p.m.
Lost (ABC)
Overnights: 11.5/17 (#1t), Viewers: 16.80 million (#1); A18-49: 6.9/17 (#1)
Criminal Minds (CBS)
Overnights: 11.5/17 (31t), Viewers: 16.59 million (#2); A18-49: 4.4/11 (#2)

Possible spoiler for 24 fans, don't read if you don't want to know a character

SCRUBS IS COMING BACK 11/30

NBC Recreates Two-Hour Thursday Sitcom Block:
NBC will return to its Thursday roots with a two-hour sitcom block, effective on Nov. 30. My Name is Earl and The Office will remain in the 8-9 p.m. hour, followed by the return of Scrubs at 9 p.m., and the relocation of Wednesday anchor 30 Rock to Thursday at 9:30 p.m. Deal or No Deal, currently airing at 9 p.m., will be pared down to two times per week (Monday and Friday at 8 p.m., respectively), while current Wednesday 8:30 p.m. occupant 20 Good Years will go on an indefinite hiatus. NBC will fill the Wednesday 8 p.m. hour with repeats and specials effective on Nov. 22.

Wow, that's awesome that Scrubs is back, and right after The Office. My two favorite comedies back to back! I thought the show wasn't supposed to return until January like last season, but I knew they had a few episodes already completed. Nice move on NBC's part and I hope he viewers tune in. This positioning might actually help 30 Rock in including it with NBC more popular comedies.

I like Friday Night Lights and I'm actually glad that they are experimenting by putting it on after Heroes next Monday at 10 PM. I think it might actually hold some of that lead-in audience better than Studio 60. Even though I like Studio 60, let's face it, those two shows don't complement each other very well demographic-wise.
Even though I like Studio 60, let's face it, those two shows don't complement each other very well demographic-wise.
I've thought that myself. They're an odd pairing. Studio 60 would fit best with er IMO, but then one of them wouldn't be able to be on at 10PM.

well the problem with friday night lights is its fucking name. Everyone that I have spoken to about the show and I tell them how good it is, assumes it is on Friday Nights. I know fridays are viewed as a throwaway night, but close to home switched from tuesdays to friday nights. Close to home was on the fence, and there audience improved on fridays. Ghost Whisper and Numbers also do ok on fridays. IMO, the name and then not having it on friday is what is hurting them the most

as for scrubs, i thought i had heard/read on tvguide over the summer that scubs was tenative for january, but it would be ready to go earlier if they needed it.
Yay for Scrubs coming back early!
Yay for Scrubs, but boo for me. Not only do I have to choose at the 8 o'clock hour, but now at 9 as well. I think Smallville and Supernatural will still hold on, but NBC is testing my loyalty with Scrubs.

And I finally watch Jericho, though not from the start, and the episode the other night wasn't all too bad. Though I was clueless on somethings, I was still able to enjoy it.

weren't you talking about getting a dvr? If you were, the dvr will allow for you to record 2 shows at once, so you wouldn't have the problem at 9pm on thursdays
weren't you talking about getting a dvr? If you were, the dvr will allow for you to record 2 shows at once, so you wouldn't have the problem at 9pm on thursdays
Nope, I'm screwed now... Grey's Anatomy and Scrubs will have to take precedent over CSI:Vegas. Oh well.

Yeah I was. Still talking the wife into getting one.

I thought the first two 30 Rock shows flat out sucked and I wasn't gonna bother anymore. The wife forced me to watch the 3rd and it was HILARIOUS. Anyone who jumped off may want to reconsider.

Alas, poor Jeffrey Tambor. He went from AD to this dreck. 20 good is tied with Happy Hour for worst new sitcom of the year, IMO.

Doesn't Grey's Anatomy repeat on Fridays at 8 or something. You can always switch your Tivo to record at that time, or catch it online.

good luck craven convincing your wife, if she is a fan of either supernatural and/or scubs hopefully that will help in your convincing her.
