Adam Sandler will have a guest spot in 1 of the final 7 king of quees episode

A little birdie with ties to the soon-to-conclude sitcom tells me that Adam Sandler taped a guest appearance last night for an episode slated to air in April. The erstwhile Billy Madison plays a goofy high-school chum of Kevin James'. The two reconnect at their class reunion, but there's a twist: Sandler's character, the ex-class clown, is now the school's vice principal!

How'd producers pull off such a casting coup? Reps for the show declined to comment, but it's a safe bet that Sandler did it as a favor to James, his costar in the upcoming gay-buddy comedy I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. Just a hunch.Queens, meanwhile, returns to CBS' sked Apr. 9 with the first of the series' seven final episodes.

This one i think is going to need some excellent writting as she looks very old to be be with him on the show

Exclusive: Friday Night Lights Signs Melrose Alum
In what amounts to another big score for Friday Night Lights' resident man-whore, Melrose Place alum Brooke Langton is joining the cast as a love interest for Riggins (Taylor Kitsch), sources confirm. Langton's character — a single mom who moves in next door to Riggins — first shows up at the end of sweeps. The little cradle robber's on board for at least four episodes.

The fate of Studio 60

Aaron Sorkin's love-it & hate-it "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" will air in its 9 p.m. Monday slot through this month, and then disappear, at least for a while as NBC tries out "The Black Donnellys," a drama about Irish guys in New York City.

Here's NBC's description of the new show:

"The series follows the exploits of four young, working-class Irish-American brothers and their involvement in organized crime in New York City. The Donnelly brothers will do anything to protect each other against all odds."

Yes, it does sound about 75 years out of date.

The official word on on "Studio 60" is that it "will return later this season on a date to be determined."

Meanwhile, the other NBC show that deals with a fictional version of "SNL," the completely lovable comedy "30 Rock" will also disappear from the schedule while NBC tries out Andy Richter's new "Andy Barker, P.I.."

At least "30 Rock" has a definite return date: April 19.

too bad for studio 60, it was starting to develop into a decent show...and sorkin said he wasn't going to have the retarded skits in the show anymore
So what time slot is Heroes going to while Studio 60 is on at 9? 8 or 10?
I am assuming he is talking about Central time.

wow, hereo's finally beat fox in total viewers....

24 for this week 9.3/13 (last week 9.5/14)
heroes this week 9.6/14 (last week 9.0/13)

it is expected for hereos to dominate in the 18-49 year old demographic.

If you look at the numbers of the other shows in that timeslot...last week 2 1/2 men had an 8.2/12 and new adventures of an old christine came in at 6.4/9

This week 2 1/2 men (with special guest star brooke shields) came at at #1 in the hour with a 10.8/15. The 2nd half hour had the premiere of david spades rules of engagment with a 9.2/13. Looks like the 24 viewers jumped ship to 2 1/2 men and rules of engagement.

Heroes is beating 24? Isn't Heroes just the 4400 as written by the creators of Lost? I can't get behind this style of writing that rarely reveals anything of significance without having already placed 3 bigger questions in it's place. I think it alienates more viewers than it attracts. Or at least it will in time, that's what I think has happened to Lost and why it has.. lost to Criminal Minds lately.

true, but hereos has answered some questions...the other thing is that criminal minds is an awsome show you put that with the poor stories of lost then they lost viewers.

some interesting tidbits on numbers...

this ones for your javery, as I know you love the show

veronica mars this past week number wise sucked

CW's Veronica Mars at a depressed 1.9/ 3, with retention out of Gilmore Girls of just 54 percent. Year-ago WB occupant Supernatural averaged a 3.2/ 4 in the overnights (out of a 4.4/ 6 for Gilmore Girls). .

americain idol still dominates, but ncis held in there not really giving up any of its audience

rule of engagment did very well, i wonder if they will stick as it wasn't as good as I was hoping for

Strong Start for CBS' The Rules of Engagement:
The premiere of CBS sitcom The Rules of Engagement ranked first Monday at 9:30 p.m. in households (9.7/14) and total viewers (14.84 million), and a solid second among adults 18-49 (5.2/12) and adults 25-54 (6.3/13). Comparably, that was the network's best performance in the time period this season. Retention out of lead-in Two and a Half Men (HH: 11.2/16, Viewers: 17.68 million, A18-49: 5.8/13, A25-54: 7.1/15) was between 84 and 90 percent.

there wasn't much shock in the numbers for wend, but lost didn't do that great as there numbers were barely better then the debut of the nine, which is no longer on the air

Lost returned with a 9.8 rating/15 share in the overnights, which ranked second in the 10 p.m. hour behind CBS' CSI: NY (10.0/15). Although Lost should have no trouble winning the hour among adults 18-49 once the fast nationals are posted, here are observations -- positive and negative -- to make note of:

1) Leading out of Dancing With the Stars, Lost averaged a heftier 11.5/17 in the overnights this fall in the Wednesday 9 p.m. hour..
2) Lost last night led out of a retrospective special, The Lost Survivor Guide, which scored a third-place 6.7/10 at 9 p.m. Next Wednesday, Lost airs out of the regularly scheduled, and barely seen, In Case of Emergency.
3) Lost increased from the debut of former regularly scheduled occupant The Nine (9.1/15 on Oct. 4, 2006) by only 8 percent in the overnights.
4) The year ago occupant, Invasion, rated considerably lower, however, at a 6.4/10 in the overnights (out of a 12.1/17 for Lost).

Crap. Well, this season has been kind of disappointing overall but I'd still like a 4th season because I think the characters are interesting.... doesn't sound like it will happen though.

In other news, Karen (Rashida Jones) has been cast in a new comedy. Looks like her time at The Office is coming to an end.

The news broke today that Rashida Jones (The Office's Karen) has been cast on the new Fox comedy The Rules of Starting Over (alongside Boston Legal's Craig Bierko), and insiders close to NBC confirm to me that Rashida is not expected to be employed under the roof of The Office after the season finale in May.

The sarah silverman show was renewed

battlestar galatica got a 4th season

the black donnelys will now premier 2/26 or so, thus making studio 60 go on hiatus sooner then expected.

24 and here's were neck and neck in the overnights and no winer was announced untill the nationals came in...
In other news, Bill S Preston, ESQ. is apparently still alive. I just got done watching him in Wednesday's Bones episode. Who knew??
If you check imdb, he hasn't done ANYTHING other than one random straight to video movie in 1993 since Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey back in 1991. It's amazing how recognizable he still is. Wonder what he's been doing - I can't imagine that Bill & Ted money is retirement money...

Some non-suprising tv moves: Fox has picked up Bones & House for another full season and tonight's Studio 60 may be the last one aired. The Black Donnellys starts in its place next week.

I am kind of looking forward to the Black Donnellys. Hopefully it doesn't suck.

Also, has anyone been watch Psych or Dirt? I am enjoying both of those, well up until the last 2 episodes, haven't gotten around to watching those.

Wombat and I watch Psych.. we love it.. Good to see that they made Corbin Bernsen's character (Sean's dad) a nicer dad then in the pilot. He was such an abusive father in the first episode and now he is just a father who is hard on his son.. which I think is a normal relationship.. I think Sean and Gus make a great duo and the "Psych outs" at the end crack me up everytime.. especially when they do old 80s songs.. I highly recommmend DVRing it on Friday night and watching it over the weekend..

Good to see some others are watching this.

Though, I am surprised that its already airing the 2nd season, as the 1st season was on this past summer. Hopefully thats a sign that they are going to let it run a whole season.

I need some shows to watch during the summer, when the humidity is ridiculous and there is nothing better to do.

I really like Psych and I think it's developing a little more as a show too. Newer episodes are improving about every week.

Dirt however I have tried to watch on three occasions now and I'm just not feeling it. To me, it's boring, a Nip/Tuck-like shock value show with tabloid reporters instead of plastic suregeons. Also unlike that show Dirt IMO has almost zero likeable characters with few redeeming traits. That's the biggest issue I personally have with it. I guess that's kind of like a point of the show, but I find it's hard to get behind a show when you hate everyone in it.

Funny thing is, I agree with you on Dirt, but I think its my dislike for every character, outside of Holt, Don, and the newbie reporter, that makes me watch the show just to see what new level of lowness they sink into. Its not one of my top shows, but its just something for me to watch when I've got alone time, since the wife hates it, and nothing else is on tv.

Anyone else looking for to the Black Donnelly's? The commercials during Heroes made me want to atleast watch next week.

very much looking forward to the black donellys...irish mob does it get any better

my wife and I watch psych and dirt...numbers wise IIRC psych does very well for the usa network, and it is a good, not great, but solid show. The best part of the show imo is them singing at the very end during the credits

dirt is an ok show as well, major tv reviewers don't think it will be back. It will have a major explotation scene in the last month
courtney cox and jenifer aniston will kiss

in scheduling notes, crossing jordan is moving to wend at 9pm...current occupant will move to sundays at 9pm, pushing the flailing apprentice into the 10 pm spot currently occupied by crossing jordan

Deal or No Deal moves into the 9pm slot on Sundays. It was rumored that it was being done to make Sunday all about reality tv and Wednesday all about drama.

So yeah, Dirt actually gets a couple characters I enjoy, one gets killed off and the other is a cleaning lady which my guess is she'll no longer exist after this episode. Why do people I talk to keep suggesting I watch this show anyways?

Edit: God that was pretty awful in my opinion, fuck the opinions of my co-workers. FX needs the Shield back ASAP before it restores my faith in the network. Disappointing week of TV thus far, no House, 24 was so-so, and I'm too far behind in Prison Break to pay any attention to it. At least Black Donnellys was pretty decent, if a little unoriginal.

I think I am now a month behind on Dirt, and may not catch up with it. After not watching it, I've not really missed it at all.

And as for FX, they should just run The Shield and Rescue Me marathons all the time. Never seen Always Sunny, so I can't comment on that.

And speaking of FX, anyone looking forward to Riches? It looks quite stupid, but I may give the premiere a try.

Agreed, Sunny in Philly has it's moments but it's not like every episode will make you laugh outloud. I'm slightly looking foward to Riches. The premise seems really amusing and some clips seem funny, but at the same time somehting about the whole family being involved and so forth make it seem a bit over the top and goofy. FX as a whole is slipping, they seem like as a network they have just been really stretching for their next Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me, or Shield, maybe streching a little too hard.
The Black Donnelly's was frickin great. Its definetly on my shows to watch now.
I liked it and will certainly be watching it in the future. However, like I mentioned, while I was watching it seems like every other mobster storyline we've seen in movies and TV over the past 2 decades or so. They'll have to get really creative in the next few weeks to hold my interest.

i thought the black donnelys was an excellent hour of tv...i wonder if it has the staying power though...its numbers were the same as the avg for studio 60 (granted i would imagine it costs a lot less to make)...it is in a tough time slot and they felt that the numbers for the show were higher due to the fact that hereo's went untill 10:03, thus people were watching that channel after 10pm and in the last half hour the black donnellys numbers dropped a lot

24 got its ass haned to it on by hereos by a couple million viewers...first time that has happened..usually they are very close..too bad, imo 24 is still a solid show, but it is missing something this season to make it must watch tv

anyone watching the dresden files...decent sci fi produced show...nothing great, but considering the network it comes from I think it is decent.

last week in ask ausiello on www.tvguide.com, he commented on a hit show that was going to get the axe, due to poor ratings in the 18 - 49 demo...he didn't give the name of the show, but in this weeks askausiello, the list was narrowed to one of three shows...either the unit, jericho, or close to home...my guess is close to home but he hasn't said which one of the 3 was going yet..

Question: My guess for the blind item about the hit show getting the ax is The Unit, Close to Home or Jericho.— T.K.
Ausiello: I can confirm that it is indeed one of those three shows. I can also confirm that I'll be narrowing that list down even further (a lot further — hint, hint) in the first episode of my vodcast, debuting tomorrow on a TVGuide.com video player near you. Sorry, but a guy's gotta cross-promote where he can.

http://www.tvguide.com/News-Views/Columnists/Ask-Ausiello/default.aspx

I'm hoping it's Close to Home since that's the only 1 I don't watch. I wouldn't be heartbroken if it was Jericho, but if The Unit gets axed I'm going to be royally pissed.

i just looked at this/last weeks numbers...and the units 18 - 49 demo is the best (minus close to home as that wasn't broken down)...close to home has higher viewership then jericho, but like i said the report didn't breakdown the demo's...imo it is safe to rule out the unit

watched ausiello's first video podcast, and he confirmed it was close to home that is near death...it looses big numbers in the 18 -49 demo following lead in ghost whisper, and those demo numbers go up for the following show, numbers.

Yeah, when I saw that list, I was pretty sure it was going to be Close to Home.

I figured Jericho was safe, as its getting decent numbers, and having Criminal Minds behind it doesn't hurt it.

And Shawn Ryan seems to be golden, so The Unit was a lock to be safe in my mind.

But maybe to save Close to Home, they switch it with Ghost Whisperer for a few episodes and see what happens. What does it have to compete with on Friday night anyway?

well it isn't doing well in the 18 - 49 demo...i would imagine that is due to the fact that las vegas is on at the same time and that would be the show I would watch if I stayed in on a friday...Close to home was close to being axed last year, but they switched its nights and it did ok...

24 is starting to get trounced by hereos...losing by almost 2 million total viewers and a sizable amount drop off in the key demo...I hope 24 picks up the storyline the next couple of weeks as they are going unchallenged

NBC’s dominance continued at 9 p.m., with bona fide hit Heroes at 14.90 million viewers and a 6.6/16 among adults 18-49. Tied for the No. 2 spot in the hour were CBS and Fox as follows:

Monday 9-10 p.m.
24 (Fox)
Viewers: 13.01 million (#3), A18-49: 4.9/12 (#2)

as for the comedy show the class, things aren't looking good

Although retention all season for The Class out of How I Met Your Mother has been solid, CBS is in need of new breakout hit comedies, and The Class does not fit that description. Chances are last night’s episode of The Class was the final installment.

as for the black donnellys

In the distant No. 2 spot was week two of NBC’s The Black Donnellys at 7.03 million viewers and a 3.0/ 8 in the demo, which dipped by 900,000 viewers and six percent among adults 18-49 from last Monday’s already disappointing premiere (Viewers: 7.93 million; A18-49: 3.2/ 8 on Feb. 26). Particularly alarming for The Black Donnellys was retention of just 47 percent in viewers and 45 percent among adults 18-49 from lead-in Heroes, and loss in the second half hour of 1.49 million viewers (7.78 to 6.29 million) and 18 percent among adults 18-49 (3.3/ 8 to 2.7/ 8. Comparably, this is no better than recent occupant Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

Wow - that's surprising about The Class. Too bad because although it completely sucked in the beginning it has started to come into its own and I find myself enjoying it. It's MILES better than 2.5 Men - has another comedy ever gone downhill faster?

2 1/2 men gets solid numbers...i think up untill this week it had been beating 24 and hereos

i know you are a fan of it, but heavy rumors are speculating this is the last season of veronica mars

yeah, I figured VM would be ending. The first two seasons were fantastic but this one has just been OK. Transitioning from high school to college is tough for just about every show (see Buffy) but it's even tougher for VM considering that they have to think up a mystery for her to solve. I guess it's no different than 24 but how many people are going to die around Veronica so she can solve their murders? Also, with 4 separate "main" crimes this season and the off-again on-again Veronica/Logan story line alternating every single week it just got to be a bit much. Still, it's better than 90% of the dreck out there...

I hope that some how they are able to save Veronica Mars. Atleast give it a shot at taking over 7th Heaven's spot, assuming that it is finally done after this season. Or they could move it to Wednesday with One Tree Hill or Top Model and move the other show to Tuesday with Gilmore.

I say give it atleast another 1/2 season and see where it is at then.

And speaking of The Class, why did it end so early, like even before sweeps? And that was a shitty way to end the season, let alone the series if it is truly over.
i don't think it is officially dead, just the guy from tvtrackers prediction..
I know, but each and every week, the ratings seem to take a dip and thats not too promising.

Hopefully they try something to keep the series alive. At the very least, if they didn't have another season on TV, if they released a 4th season on DVD. I know its thinking out of the box, but yeah its an idea.

october road and raines debuted last night...any comments, i haven't gotten to see either yet..raines was considered the leader, even know they had less viewers...something about the lead in of raines (the andy barker pi show) had horrible numbers and raines built in total viewers up 37% from that...and raines didn't lose as many as october road in the 2nd half hour of the show...even if you take the drop in the 2nd half hour into account, raines still got its ass kicked in total viewers

I've got both shows on the DVR and plan to watch them over the weekend. I will give my impressions of both of them. Not sure when I'll watch them this weekend, as I've got to catch up on The Black Donnelly's and a few other shows first.

I have both of them on my dvr, and should be watching them tonight...my brother told me that october road is the story of the writter behind the movie beautiful girls, and that he went home after the movie came out and had similiar issues.

Yeah, and the people in his town have issues with what was written about them. The main actor was on the early seasons of One Tree Hill (yes I watch , with the wife, and enjoy it; guilty pleasure) as Jake, not too sure of his other work.

As for Raines, is it just me or is it kind of a ripoff of Ghost Whisperer?

So I finally got around to watching Monday's episode of the Black Donnelly's, and I can say I am glad this show hasn't let up since the pilot.

I've enjoyed almost every moment of the show and hope it can keep up the pacing and get picked up for a 2nd season (if it hasn't already). Anyone else despise Jimmy as much as I do. He seems like a douche bag who is too self- absorbed to worry about anyone else. And then Tommy on the other hand is too worried about everyone else, to stop and take a look at what his actions are causing himself.

Great show so far, IMHO.
