I've noticed the enemies are a little tougher than the last game. I'm on Chapter 5 right now, enjoying the game so far.
I think the basic grunts are easier than the first game because it doesn't take a million body shots to down one now.
Anyway, some of these treasures must be deviously hidden because I have gone over Chapters 1-6 on hard with a fine tooth comb and I'm still missing 4 treasures from those chapters.
I finished single player and really enjoyed the game for the most part. I like how it carried some of the touches over from the first game or at least set a standard
ie when you see an mp40, you know the shits getting weird!
and from a writing perspective, this is a real achievement in video games IMO. The lead characters all had depth, even the villains to an extent. Its also a big miss in terms of writing too though.
Technically its sound as a pound and I dont think there is a console game on either system that comes close to this in terms of looks and mechanics of platforming. The boards with Tenzing were so absolutely gorgeous I cant wait to play them again just to see them again.
My only gripe was the end. I felt the "third act" of the story was complicated and really dropped the ball that the first 2/3rds of the game had started. The writers especially hit a snag in pulling off the climax,
not to mention the whole Marco Polo thing is a damn Macguffin lol.
Its a really strong game and I enjoyed it immensely, but IMO, the shortcomings of the storyline ending up hurting it.
If this is a harbinger of things to come though, its an amazing step. I thoroughly enjoyed the seamless marriage of storyline and action gaming. I love run and gun and I hate that big super shielded bitches, but love em when Ive got a shotgun or the pistole.
I also like how they set up future games. I'd LOVE to see the "thief" aspect drawn out further. The early boards in the game that set up the plot were awesome awesome awesome.
and you think the beginning is slow? WTF is wrong with you!?
well given I was
wounded
the damn controls were slow and it was pissing me off, I dont care if
there is lots of blood, damnit, get your ass running, you can pass out from explosions and sleep later
.
I love the
flashbacks and if that continues I feel it will keep the pace up
. I had promised myself that I would not even open this until I was done with Demon Souls... as I do this crap all the time, then never finish the first game, as another game comes out (i.e. modern warfare 2 is on the horizon).
It seems like its going to be great, to be honest, but I am glad it started the way it did. I do want to see what happens next and
how he got to where he is, on this train
but I dont feel I must before I beat Demons Souls.
*edit and yeah as mentioned maybe its because its so linear, and tutorial ish. Which is fine and totally expected. But glad it started that way, as I can pull myself away.
The game is awesome. Very fun. (I know the game is good when my biggest complaint is about the packaging having too many critic review quotes.)
Although I gave my wife I great compliment yesterday; I told her I love her more than Uncharted 2. I'm very romantic.
Anyway, I'm on Chapter 5. (I'm slow because I want to enjoy it as I go, and also because I suck at games. ) The seamless transitions are fantastic, between cutscenes and gameplay. And if it's installing and loading during the game, I don't really notice; they seem to hide that pretty well.
I think the new logo looks better but that they should've stuck with the old one for consistency's sake. Though, for what it's worth, the new one looks much less out of place alongside PS2 game spines. It may be less irksome when there are more than two games on the market with the new design, as well.
This pretty much sums up how I feel. When I got the game and looked at it I said "ooh, that looks nice" but then when I put it on my shelf it became an eyesore. It's a much nicer design, and they probably should have gone with something that looked like that all along, but changing it now is irksome.
Then again, that's the kind of thing only collectors probably care about (which, of course, includes most of us here).
Was anyone else *really* happy to see they did 7.1 for this game? There aren't too many around that give you a 7.1 option (in home movies or games), so I was excited. And it sounds fantastic.
Uncharted supported it, so it's not really a surprise. I think Killzone 2 also supports 7.1. And if I had to guess, God of War III will as well. Multiplatform games will most likely only support 5.1 maximum.
I completed my Hard mode run earlier, and I'm going through the Kill X with Weapon Y Trophies. All I need is 200 kills with the GAU and I'll just need to beat it on Crushing for Platinum #10.
Anybody know what the final two costumes are? You need to beat it on crushing and get a plat trophy to unlock them. I'm hoping for a Jak model.
Didn't know that about Uncharted 1. I didn't have a 7.1 system at that time (was still "rocking" the two-channel stereo speakers  ).
Good to hear about KZ2, as I just got in on the Amazon Lightning Deal for that. And I guess I didn't know about the others, because I don't have many PS3 games.
I got my treasure map as well. It's a video that shows you the location. Is anybody else having problem with it? I can only get it to show the first 6 treasures.
It's in game. I haven't downloaded it yet.
No it's not in game. You can only watch it on your system when you select a game, demo or the video. Do not even bother downloading it. It only shows the first 6-7 treasures.

Oh sorry. I mean that you download it on your PS3 rather than some file on your computer. So it doesn't even show all the treasures? That's a weak ass preorder bonus then.

It only shows the first 7. I went on to gamefaqs to make sure it wasn't just mine. everybody is having the same problem. It would have been if it had an in game hint locator. You can easily see the locations of the treasures on youtube.
On Chapter 6 (?) when you're on top of the hotel and you jump in the pool, you get a $5k bonus called "Marco Polo"? I thought that was pretty funny.
Check your emails if you preordered from Amazon. I just got my code for the treasure map.
You actually
don't have to jump in from the roof. I just walked into the pool and started swimming around. You get one for Nathan saying "Marco", and one for Chloe saying "Polo".

It made me and my girlfriend laugh.
How do you get
Chloe to say Polo? I got the Marco medal but was confused as to how to get the Polo medal. Is it a different pool later in the game?

I just swam around the pool a bit, and they had a mini-conversation. He asked her to say it (Polo), and eventually, she caved in and said it. Then, it popped up for me.
swing across the rope and climb to the top of the building and Flynn says "There's a guy above you, a guy above you!" I grabbed the enemy and threw him down and Flynn goes "There's a guy below you, a guy below you!"
Finished my first playthough on Hard last night, and I was just amazed at how many amazing moments there were. I mean, yeah the reviews all said it was like that, but playing through action packed sequences one after another from beginnning to end was just fantastic.
my thoughts w/ spoilers
I forget what chapter, but one of my favorite parts was when the helicopter shot the hotel and the hotel was falling down while drake and chloe were inside. It's tough to pick a favorite though, the train chapters, the car/truck chase,petting/smelling the yaks, fighting through shambhala, and the opening train chapter were all great moments! The one thing I didn't like were the mutant guys at the end. I didn't mind the yeti beast things, but if there were more chapters of fighting the blue guys, I would have gotten sick of them pretty quickly.
And I agree that it was surprisingly funny! The voice actings was great, it had me smiling at all the funny parts, loving the good guys, and hating the bad guys.
I would say PS3 GOTY for sure, with the only contender for overall GOTY being MW2
I absolutely loved the game. Beat it on Normal earlier, and I'm gonna do a playthrough on Hard starting probably tomorrow. Unlocked Infinite Ammo and One-Shot Kills from the Store, so that'll make the game much, much easier.

He had me goin' for a second there.
Same here.
After he said that I started frantically looking around and as I watched the guy falling I thought "Heeeeeyyyy.... oh, ha"

It was in the span of a minute or two, max.
Ah, gotcha.
I heard them arguing back and forth, but I guess I got out before Chloe caved in.
I could care less about the game's case, but I like to think when I look at my collection that the new case art respresents all PS3 game's that came before Uncharted and all PS3 game's to come after Uncharted. I hope the game lives up to making that bold claim.
we all get that im 'core because its hard. since you got through hard, i suggest probably spend more time on demon's soul. i have both games. and theyre great. but if youre looking for a challenge, then ds is more suited towards you.
I was only trying to say I didn't think it was a hard game & challenge is a good thing. I look forward to playing DS for the challenge, but I need to wait till I can get it cheaper.

I can't believe I missed out on that KZ2 deal . God I'm so pissed.
I'm shocked at how much this game does right. It's really an interactive movie in the best sense. It's moving, it's funny, it adventurous, and it's awesome. This will be hard to top.
Naughty Dog is the premiere developer of this generation.

Oh, thank you for telling me! That was getting annoying.
read Drake's journal, you'll find that he sketched some skeleton-like creature named Skelzor in it. His imagination becomes reality in the Multi Player.

I think there're a few of these instances. I remember getting stuck in some places where I was simply unable to move (twice). Fortunately, the checkpoint had just taken place. In a game this big, you're bound to find some of these.

Even non-Socom fans agree. The sound in Confrontation is unrivaled. About the only thing /6 got right. You should learn to expand your mind and not jump to conclusions
